OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Tummum · 28/04/2010 20:13

LadyH don't blame yourself for the result. Like Fi says, at the end of the day it's the evidence that they'll look at

Ses that list made me all teary too

Febes soooo exciting. Oh, and I'm very . I really wish we'd done some proper travelling before the DC went to school

Sorry crap at NC-ing today. I'm knackered.

So, the second interview was today. I was all for cancelling it, but DH persuaded me to go, and now I'm all again. It's a great job, and I would jump at it if it was up the road. But it's not. And my friends are here. Anyway, I'm trying not to think about it until I know whether they want me. Hey ho.

momino · 28/04/2010 20:28

hi all! I reeeallly want to be here instead of working. but I have to get lots of work done tonight. boo.

anyway, I'll use MN as my coffee breaks and will attempt to catch up post by post.

first things: ses, the List. i'm choked up as well. our teeny tiny babies are chubby legged pre-toddlers. H even has HAIR now.

ladyH, what the others said, evidence is beyond you. don't be hard on yourself.

belg, so glad the opportunities are coming your way - may be an answer to your wish!

Febes, i'm excited and as well - what plans!

tumm, i think it's great to keep going at that interview if only to show yourself how brilliant you are .

others, don't fret if I haven't NC you - i'll be back

ok, off to work. if you see me on FB, kick me out.

cherrytom · 28/04/2010 20:45

flip poor A but well done to her on the walking! Well done to ses's O too!

It brings back memories seeing the list- I can remember being left there on my own when everyone else was on the post natal boards!

someone asked about bfing a few pages back- Jake often just feeds first thing and during the evenings and night now. In fact he only really seems to feed when he wants to go to sleep and I think when he gets used to going to sleep without it at nursery he won't be at all bothered about bf will carry on as long as he wants though. He doesn't actually fall asleep feeding anymore but its still part of his sleep routine.

Spangle how are you- still tired?
Headless hope you are feeling better about work- am sure it wasn't you fault

Belgina hope you get a chance to do the community mw thing- would've loved you as my mw

sorry to anyone I've missed am a bit as am in the middle of Jakes 'settling in' week at nursery- start my new job on Tues eeeek!

cherrytom · 28/04/2010 20:46

gosh that bit I wrote about bf doesn't make much sense does it? Hopefully you can decipher it though

FiByTheIcySea · 28/04/2010 21:14

hi cherry&momino i've called it quits on pattern writing for tonight and i'm watching jamie oliver who's making me v hungry!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/04/2010 21:35

Ooooh swedish breads on Jamie

Hi everyone, S still amazing limpet baby at home, but loved being back at nursery .

Work bobbins at the mo, boring but will pick up (it's always been this way - we're either rushed off our feet or twiddling our thumbs).

ladyH I hope your next case goes better for you.

flip I hope you and A are better soon

running but also a at FIL's comment.

cherry hope you're ok

momi Hope you're ok too

belgian How is the crawling going - hope work is getting better

ses Hope you had a lovely day off with clever walking O

febes What fabulous plans - have a wonderful time when it's all sorted

tumm how difficult vis-a-vie the job

Apologies for those I've missed, off to wrestle S into bed

belgina · 28/04/2010 22:56

Evening all,

Got a numb crochetting arm today Might have to destroy it though, cos it looks a bit small for myself , but hey ho. I'll compare it to come other clothing of myself tomorrow

cherry I understand what you meant with the bf. With dd1 and so far C. They settle easily without a feed for others, but when I'm around they get themselves in BF position during the whole bedtime routine . C even latched on the other day while sitting next to me and then didn't know what to do with her little hands as she usually bfs while playing with my hair It was quite funny.

flip that A's now got the cp. I hope she'll feel better soon. At least she's got it and it's done and over with for the future

momi Get back to work! (and get off fb too)

headless I'm sure you're tucked up in bed by now. Hope all these encouraging signs continue. Hope work gets better tomorrow

tumm I can understand that you must be very It must be such a difficult decision.

grumpy Hope you're OK. C's crawling is coming on quite well now. She's even crawled all the way to the kitchen today apparently, lol.

ses That list really made memories flood back. There are also a handful of names on there that we haven't seen on here in ages.

C's really been coming on the last week or so. She's finally mastered the art of drinking from a cup (that's not a doidy cup), had quite a bit of success putting food on a spoon (but not in her mouth). She's also now started walking while holding onto my hands. Amazing how babies can all of a sudden just leap forward like that.

llareggub · 28/04/2010 22:59

Evening!

What a day, I've been at work, then quick change and off to a mammoth pre-school committee evening which was utterly dull. I've JUST got in and have now got to make a blinking delicious birthday cake for G.

I just wanted to wave at everyone, I have been neglectful of this thread of late but will have a good old catch-up soon. My mother is here so can't read back, but hope you are all OK.

momino · 28/04/2010 23:48

Fi, meant to say... Love the hat! you are so talented .

flip, thinking about you. I hope A is better soon.

Cherry, hope Jake settles in at nursery ok and best wishes in the week before you start your job

Belgina, amazing! C sounds like she's come on leaps and bounds in the past few days. cup - spoon - walking with fingers - etc. it's like she knows she's nearly one!

llare, happy birthday to G!!!!

Grump, glad things are better your way. hope work picks up too.

running , like grumpy, I and at fil comment.

did I miss anyone? most likely . Am really sorry if so, I just can't keep track anymore.. i'm sooo tired. time to go to bed.

HeadlessLadyH · 29/04/2010 14:19

llare Happy Birthday to G. Hope you having a lovely day. YOu're not at work or anything are you today?

grumpy saw Jamie. Gosh those fruit buns looked bloody delicious. I was drooling massively. Makes me want to get all earth motherey and bake, but am a) too tired and b) actually can't be fagged too.

Thanks for the work support. Sounds like most of us have had confidence crisis (pl) since going back so I guess it was my turn. I just felt so nervous doing my first trial in 14 months, but its done now and I can move on. Secretly I suspect he had done it although he never said so.

Sorry not to NC more but have a few things to do before school pick up in an hour (like closing my eyes for a bit!!!)

momino · 29/04/2010 14:37

Hi all. LadyH, hope you are steadily napping now.

Had H weighed today and she weighs 9kg (is that almost 20lbs?) which puts her on the 50th centile, hurrah! dd1&2 didn't 'move up' to the 50th centile till they were around 18 mos. she's also 50th for length so a nice steady growth. I feel much better after she hovered around the 2nd centile up to 9 months. She's really grown in the past few months!

hope all are well.

belgina · 29/04/2010 19:47

momi Wow, that's one big growth spurt H has been having! I think you're right about C. She must have thought that she better get her act together and start becoming a proper pre-toddler, lol.

llare Happy Birthday to G. Hope you managed to make a fabulous cake for him

headless No worries about the NC. You must be going through the absolutely shattered phase of pregnancy now. I'm amazed that you find the time to come on here after work. Hope your confidence crisis at work resolves itself soon. I know exactly what you're feeling

I had the most pointless letter from the HV today. It was something along the lines of informing me of the importance of regular meetings with health professionals to discuss the progress of my baby and can I please visit baby clinic or phone the HV office every so often to ensure my baby is OK. As if I never go the baby clinic I'll go in 2 weeks when C is 1 as was requested at my last visit there.

Got to tell you about my poor ds. He got a letter of his best friend in the Midlands yesterday and it had a drawing which was signed by all his ex-classmates. Poor things was very happy with it, but also got very upset because he's missing his friends Unfortunately he just hasn't made as many friends in his new school as he had in his old one. It's all a matter of him not having much interest in sports and the other children in his class spending most of the breaks playing football. On the other hand he's good friends with these 2 much younger (4&5yo) boys who live in the street (even went to play over today after school). Still it's a shame he doesn't really have friends of the same age.

Right. Going to put the dcs to bed now.

pulapula · 29/04/2010 20:39

Hello ladies,

Momino- sounds like H has grown a lot since i saw her. I think S is having a growth spurt ATM as he's desperate for food and milk whenever he sees anyone eating or drinking, and he BF for ages and ages and I am getting bored . He even had a feed in the night the other night which was the first time in weeks.

headless- still thinking sticky thoughts on your behalf and hope you are getting some rest- being pg is tiring enough without your body working extra hard to make 2 babies. spangle- how are you feeling?

llare- happy birthday to G .

belgina- poor DS. He sounds like such a lovely thoughtful boy and it must be hard when other boys are just into sports. Sounds like C is really coming on - i think they do have big developmental spurts too.

cherry- hope your return to work goes ok next week

grumps- glad to hear S has stopped vomiting. S is also very clingy at home - he crawls up to me, grabs my leg to pull himself up and grumbles until i pick him up, so I end up just carrying him round with me.

Well I have been out for dinner with different groups of ladies twice in one week - last night and last Friday night, so I've had 2 hangovers in quick succession after a long time without any so I am feeling very fragile tonight. Just watching the last debate on TV...

ReeBee · 29/04/2010 20:55

momi, great news about H's weight, you must be so pleased.

belgina, at your HV letter. Mine here are at the other end of the scale.

LadyH sounds like you're doing a great job of balancing everything that's going on with you. It also can't be easy defending people when privately you doubt their innocence.

Febes, so exciting, bet you can't wait. And your sister's twins sound adorable.

Ses, thanks from me too re the list. Brought back a lot of memories.

Llare happy birthday to G! hope the cake went down well.

grumpy is S any better?

Tumm tricky decision. Do you know anyone where your job is? How far away is it?

running, I echo the others.... Lap dancer???

all others I've missed, hello! hope you're well.

Things are fairly good here at Bee Towers. I've been in Windsor and Staines all week, got home last night and as DH left for Felixstowe yesterday morning, I haven't seen him since Sunday. He's due back in a couple of hours, fab.

F is crawling like a demon. Still suffering with his eczema but we seem to be managing it better - thanks so much to all of you for your advice and support.

Trying to keep my post short, hence new terse style.

Have good BH weekends all - anyone any plans? MIL visit here (as some others) so will also keep a note of the outrageous things she says.

momino · 29/04/2010 21:06

Hi all.

just working ().
reebee, glad you're ok. would love to see you again soon. are you ever back round this way? Hope F's eczema gets better.

Belg, as well at your hv letter. that's a bit much. Ours here are really lazy relaxed about the whole thing. mine today looked almost relieved that I was being pro active and bringing H in w/o them having to chase. and, I only went bcause my friend was going with her 6 month old.

Pula, you sound very social, indeed! (at the social part, not the hangover).

listening to the debate but half-heartedly - have got to concentrate on work. byeee!

momino · 29/04/2010 21:11

wait. i forgot: I came on here to whinge .

i'm so sick of being baby-handled all day. my dark coloured cardigan has snail trails (uggghhh) all over where H and dd2 have rubbed there noses all round.

parenthood really is a test of patience, isn't it? I actually joined in the whingeing today with my 2 year old. luckily it made them laugh but it hit home when my 4 year hold had to tell me, 'breathe, mummy. patience!'

SpangleMaker · 29/04/2010 21:13

llare happy birthday to G! Hope the late-night cake making went well.

Headless I am in awe of you doing a trial when you are in the 1st trimester with twins - in fact, I'm in awe of you doing a trial at all! My job seems very low stress in comparison - staying awake during meetings is the main challenge. Sending you sticky baby vibes.

Momino wow what a growth spurt! I'm still holding out hope H will claw his way back up the charts at some point. He's gone from the 50th at birth to 2nd centile at 12 months. His height has always been below average so I guess he's destined to be small.

belgina aww, hugs for your DS. It might take a bit longer for him to make friends if the others are all sporty types but I'm sure he will find some like-minded friends eventually. It just takes time. That was a lovely thing of his old classmates to do.

Still very tired here - H has been waking me at 5.15am then, by the time I've settled him I have to get up myself - painful! Glad I'm only doing 3 days a week.

Community MW is coming round on Saturday for my booking in appointment. She remembered me! It's lovely but I think that must mean the age gap is too small .

Right - better go and try to concentrate on the big debate . Hope everyone is having a good evening.

essenceofSES · 29/04/2010 21:39

Hello all!

DH is away tonight so I'm MNing with the debate on in the background.

Spangle - yay for booking in! I'm excited for you
Hope H starts to give you a bit more sleep - I'm struggling with O waking for the day around 5am too but I'm not pg!

Momino - probably a good ploy to join in the whinging every so often. Bless DD1 for trying to make you feel better!
H sounds like she's doing really well

ReeBee - It must be so hard when you don't get to see DH for so long. Glad F's eczema is getting easier to manage.

Pula - well done you on your social life and hangovers

Llare - hope G has had a great birthday!

Belgina - lovely for DS to get that from all his old friends. He is a lovely boy and I'm sure he'll make some good friends at his new school given time - he's too kind and thoughtful not to!

LadyH - I'm amazed at how you manage being pg with twins, 2DC and managing to be in trial!

Hello Fi, Flip, Tummum, Running, Grumpy and anyone else I've missed

pulapula · 29/04/2010 21:57

Just come on again for a whinge. I decided to get S a cozy coupe for his birthday. Tesco direct have a 20% off all outdoor toys so it is definitely the cheapest around for cozy coupes. Spent ages deliberating about which version to get (standard or police car - i really want the fire one but that's been out of stock for a few weeks). Anyway, finally added one to my basket and faffed around looking for other items to make it up to £50 to get free delivery. Then when I clicked to place the order, it had become OUT OF STOCK . DH says to wait a few days for the one i want in case they get more stock in, rather than going for the standard one, but i'm not that positive they will. Don't know what to do now...

pulapula · 29/04/2010 21:59

Pula waves at Ses Reebee spangle and momino whilst still fuming about tesco/cozy coupes/her indecisiveness.

belgina · 29/04/2010 22:22

Oh pula How annoying about the Cozy Coupe. That reminds me that we've got one somewhere in the midlands still. Got to tell DH not to donate it to the neighbours or anything. C will love it when she's a bit older.

ReebeeGlad to hear the eczema is getting better. It's just one of those conditions that takes a lot of tinkering with until you find what works for your dc's skin (8y in my case!), because every child's skin is different. My DH used to work on a ferry that went from Felixtowe to Rotterdam. We know the place quite well. In fact he's stil got a flat out there that we're trying to figure out what to do with to get the most out of it.

spangle lol. Your cmw must be lovely if she remembers you The age gap isn't that big. At your stage in pregnancy something like the big debate would have guaranteed to send me off to sleep, so I think you're quite brave trying to watch that.

Thanks for your lovely comments re my ds. He really is a lovely boy. I'm pretty sure he'll find some more likeminded friends in the end, but it will take time. He has told us he does like living here now and he does like his new school. So it's getting better

I really don't understand why I got that letter. I regularly go to baby clinic, about every 2 months, so I don't know why I needed reminding that it's important to get lo assessed every so often.

We've been having early mornings here too. C's been waking around 6 as have the eldest 2. The problem is that it means that she doesn't last as long before she needs a nap and then falls asleep over lunch time. I do hope she gets used to the earlier mornings soon. I'm thinking about getting a gro anywhere blind to darken the rooms.

pulapula · 29/04/2010 22:51

Belgina- it's been a really bad night for online shopping. I bought a coat in john lewis at the weekend, but discovered it was missing a button on the cuff so took it back yesterday. They didn't have any my size in stock and offered to order one online, but as i also wanted some sandals that weren't in the store, i thought i'd wait til i got home and do it myself. I was then out last night, and when i remembered tonight the coat is also out of stock . And that gro blind looks great, as we want to encourage S to sleep in (he wakes between 5.30 and 6.15) but i can't find anyone who has any stock ATM- all seem to be a few weeks or a month wait.

FiByTheIcySea · 30/04/2010 07:55

quickie as i'm getting dc's ready for pre school run. travel black out blind is great.. have one when it was called baa baa blind. belgina&pula will FB message you as found someone with them in stock..

pulapula · 30/04/2010 12:57

fi thanks for that link. I think i will wait a bit to see if anyone gets any back in stock- i don't like to pay over the odds.

belgina- I meant to say last night that your comment about C latching herself on when sat next to you made me . It's funny how they get used to playing with hair etc. S likes to play with my top when he feeds, and particularly likes my tops which have long ties at the top/boobs to fiddle with. He would play with hair too which is why i got mine cut as he has a habit of pulling hard.

belgina · 30/04/2010 13:14

pula I can't quite remember where you live, but I found a gro anywhere blind on eBay which is pick up only from Warwick. I hadn't noticed they were all out of stock, you know. I think I'm going to have to get myself on a waiting list somewhere soon

C's had a bad night's sleep again today. Lots of tossing and turning and whimpering. Maybe she was hot? On the other hand she's gone down for her nap quicker than ever before in her life. It took literally seconds

Right better get off here before DH catches me. I'd promissed him not to get distracted by MN
