belgina- you go girl. Good on you for contacting radio 1 about that remark- I would have been if i'd heard it too. What a terrible attitude - hope he does a proper apology. I just don't understand - babies need to eat too, and when I BF in public, I am very discreet so would be if people objected.

belgina · 31/03/2010 21:09

I think it's the lack of periods that's making me not so broody...

I'll stop talking about this now...

I meant to go in the bath ages ago. Better go now before it's too late. I need to get up early tomorrow for my early shift. Last one in a little while, because from next week onwards I'll be on the day assessment unit. Nice 8.30-4.30 sort of hours. Bliss...

belgina · 31/03/2010 21:11

x-post pula I do hope he does a proper apology. I tend to only listen in the car, so I don't know if he has/will. But at least he's apologised to me for causing offence to me, lol.

flippinegg · 31/03/2010 21:15

Evening!

sausage - and at your mum, it all sounds really unpleasant. Gald you're giog home, hope it all goes ok.

pula - at all the sleep.

blotted - hello! Frelance would be interesting, but sadly I don't really have anything I can do like that.

No periods here yet either. After dd1 they came back at 13 months, when we'd dropped to two feeds a day; stopped bfing totally at 15 months to ttc. Not sure what I'm going to do this time, we'd like to ttc but it also feels a bit selfish stopping feeding for that.

belgina - well done on the letter writing! Hope you are ok and not too tired.

All ok here, the girls have adjusted to not having the grandparents here but it'll be all change again this weekend as we're going to my parents for a week! DH is only coming for the weekend, but the girls and I will be there all week. Really looking forward to it.

belgina · 31/03/2010 21:21

Right, I'm really going after this, but just wanted to add that I conceived dd1 while still bf ds, it only took 3 months to get a BFP, just like with C, so it didn't seem to affect my fertility. So I wouldn't stop bf altogether if my periods started and we'd start TTC.

I'm just thinking, maybe DH is eager to start TTC, because that'd mean he'd finally get to get relations a bit more regularly

flippinegg · 31/03/2010 21:36

I think that BF did affect my fertility, we'd been ttcing for a while but nothing happened, stopped BF dd1 and got pregnant the next month. It might have been a coincidence, but I'm not sure, and it's happened to several people I know.

Lol at your DH's (possible) reason for ttc!

youngerthanspringtime · 31/03/2010 22:22

HI all.

got my period back just last month when I'd reduced to 2 feeds a day.

I stopped BF H altogether yesterday since she's cut down loads and bites me all the time. I couldn't figure out how to stop the biting (firm NO/taking off didn't do it). I think she's ready to stop anyway, she doesn't seem to ask for it from me anymore and when she did, she'd take a bite and a couple of sucks then look around the room .

sausage, very at your mum's behaviour. is she usually like that? glad your going home to DH.

pula, wow at S's great sleeping. I'll happily join in on celebrating (with champagne, that is ).

Hi Flippin, belgina, Fi, ladyH, blotted, Ses, Tumm, llare, singing, ummmm any lurkers, and sorry if I've missed off your name (you know I love you).

internet acting up tonight so I closed down work and will go to sleep soon.

good luck tomorrow at work singinghinny. Hope everyone is well.

Blottedcopybook · 31/03/2010 22:41

I'm so jealous of those of you still sans periods, I got mine back months ago while I was still feeding Greer regularly - in fact I'm fairly sure that the resulting milk supply drop was why Greer weaned

Pula My three younger ones are all very alike haha! Greer is most like Nairn, but the girls still have a striking resemblance.

Fi Haha she's away to bed with it on! I suppose I should be glad really but it's going to be revolting before I get it back off her.

SpangleMaker · 31/03/2010 22:48

Hi all!

Headless congrats on your BFP! Sending you sticky baby vibes x

Sausage can I join the others in at your Mum? I can just about understand her feeling a bit fed up if she's worn out but totally unfair to take it out on you. And as for fetching your dad and icecream and not you, well why didn't she tell him to go fetch his own?

pula well done on the no feeding/cc-ing. You've done really well to be strong and hold out. I am gearing up to try to do something about H's sleeping (still up 4/5 times most nights and ends up in with us) but am being cautious because of his separation anxiety and the fact that he's not very settled at nursery yet.

belgina can I belatedly add that you are a fab midwife! I would count myself v lucky to have you there at any birth of mine. Hope C is better soon and your stint at DAU helps you get some rest in.

Ses your poor DH. But I am also chuckling a little at the idea of him rolling around starkers in your front garden .

blotted yes, H is indeed 1 tomorrow! I'm another who enjoys your FB updates. Loving the hats! And you take some fantastic photographs.

llare hope G's rash resolves itself as 'one of those things' and not excema or CP. of your personal shopper trip. I'm still trying to put together a work wardrobe but am not very inspired. I think I need to be back in the work mindset before I can think about it properly.

periods/fertility got mine back at 8/9m in spite of bf-ing several times a day, then and now. I am certain I'm ovulating too. In fact, I was to have to go and get a morning after pill today (£25 from the chemist ) after a rare moment of opportunity and inclination coinciding and us thinking 'what the hell, took us 8 months to conceive H'. Very silly as DH doesn't want another child at all; I'm not sure, but I know I want at least a few months of decent-ish sleep before starting it all off again.

Birthday we have spent this evening getting ready for H's big day tomorrow. We've got a banner and some helium-filled '1' balloons and his presents are all wrapped. I didn't bake the cake because DH goes to a shop where they sell lovely home-made full-sized chocolate cakes at £3.50 each. He bought two . We have a couple of mums & babies coming over in the morning, then a few family in the afternoon, then finally we'll go to PIL's as MIL is too poorly to get up the stairs at our house. Hopefully H will have a good day and take all the excitement in his stride.

Hope everyone else is ok. Just thinking, should we have a list of birthdays, or is that too much of a faff? They'll be coming thick and fast soon!

llareggub · 31/03/2010 22:49

Hi all

I've been out this evening with some friends for dinner. It was lovely, and I had the most amazing pudding. It was rhubarb crumble with raspberry pannacotta and raspberry milkshake. Honestly, it was the best milkshake I've ever tasted. I've come back to find that the boys went to bed at 10pm. Am not impressed with DH at all....

sausage I can't believe your mother. That's horrible. Poor you. I hope your DH spoils you now that you are home.

period I've had two now, but they've been very light. The first one was at the beginning of the month and this second one came exactly 28 days later, and I had the tell-tales signs of ovulation too. I've been taking a double does of folic acid but we've changed our minds about TTC again. I'd like to wait a bit longer I think.

I don't know how often I'm feeding but it is at least every 4 hours or so, less if we are out. He still feeds at night too.

Spangle have a lovely day tomorrow. x

Belgina well done regarding radio 1. I've stopped listening to it because I was so fed-up of the vile, crude and sexist comments made by Chris Moyles. I really don't want my sons hearing that kind of stuff and Radio 2 is much safer!

youngerthanspringtime · 01/04/2010 10:34

Happy Birthday H!!!!!! Hope H has a day full of choc cake, balloons and fun! The first baby of our group . I really am getting emotional about it all.

am just sitting down to a bit of work whilst H is 'dancing' at her play table doing taekwando-style semi-squats (or is she having a poo?) thinking how much she's grown and how fast this year has passed .

Spangle thinking of you today and a happy birthday to H. I so can't believe where this past year has gone. Have a fab fab day. You'll be exhausted by this evening.
I think B's birthday is next (along with Loobie) on 23 April. I try to avoid birthday parties but will get in a balloon, fruit cake, and a hat for B, and head over to the inlaws (then dh and I are disappearing for a weekend away!!).

Am at home today as B is poorly and has been evicted from nursery. Have to laugh as where I work is closed today so I get an 'extra' day's holiday, but it seems the kids always conspire against me. The last week I had to myself was just before I returned to work, but B became poorly so I kept him at home; then before that was when I just went on mat leave and dd got chickenpox....

Llare the milkshake dessert sounds intriguing. Hope the boys had a lie in this morning after their late night.

Singing hope today went well. Long weekend now .

Anyone any plans for Easter weekend?

Just popping in to say Happy Birthday to H, Spangle hope you have a lovely day. I really can't believe how quickly the past year has flown by!!

It's only been 5 days since I last posted and so much to catch up with.

Headless Congrats - hope everything goes well for you!

Ses Sounds like dh had a lucky escape. Just wondered if you'd seen the neighbours since the accident

Periods Mine didn't come back until ds1 was 16 months old and it took another 3 months before I got pregnant. No sign of them yet - but ds2 is being a really monkey with feeding at the moment so I don't expect it'll be long! Ds2 goes for 10-12hrs during the day some days in between feeds. He has water, but doesn't seem that interested in feeding much. Im going to give it another month and then put him on to cows milk.

Spring I have a tumble dryer - I got it just before Christmas. Pula how to you get 2 loads of clothing dry each day?!? Half of mine ended up going to my mums to dry.

Fi have fun with your bf!

Sausage hope you're settling in back at home. Can't believe how mean your parents were to you!

Flippin Sorry to hear about your work woes - hope you manage to sort something out.

Sorry for anyone I haven't name checked - memory has gone and I need to go and tidy up the house. I'm working all weekend and my friend is coming on Monday. I thought it was for the day - but it's not so the whole house is going to need doing!

Have booked early scan for 2 weeks tomorrow. Am feeling so very tired and a wee bit nauseous so am hoping these are all good signs. Have been lurking on the ante natal thread for due Nov 2010. DOn't think I'll be posting there for a while yet though just in case. Plus there is bloody loads of them too. Can't keep up.

Momi I remember so clearly the day of the 2nd. I was sooooo fed up when I read that you had H and I thought it would be ages before I saw my LO (hormones have a lot to answer for!). 12 hours later I was holding my LO in my arms. . Can't believe they are all nearly a year old.

Oooh, OOoh, just noticed these

runningmonkey · 01/04/2010 18:46

Happy birthday spangle's H hope the celebrations are suitably fab

Hope everyone else is ok, I haven't managed to read I'm afraid as been v busy with visitors and work. I am on Easter hols now so will be along later this weekend/next week for a proper catch-up.

Need to wipe a little tear away at the thought of all those 1st b'days being around the corner. That'll be a good name for our next thread title

headless My ds was a November baby! Hope that you're feeling suitably morning sick and that this lo continues to stick.

reggie at yet another illness. It does look like they're conspiring agains you, doesn't it Hope he gets better soon.

fi Hope you had a good time with your bf

C's diarrhoea has gone, but she's still got a blocked nose, poor thing. She's also got a rash on her inner thighs which looks like dermatitis or maybe nappy rash, but just outside her nappy. So I can't figure out what's causing it. The only thing that I can think of is the woolly wrap I use for her night nappies, because that does come past that line. So I've just put her to bed in a disposible to see if it makes a difference
