Hmmm, ds had a sudden temp this evening which took calpol and nurofen to cool down, so he didn't go to sleep until about 9:15 by the time we'd waited for him to be ok, and now he's awake and coughing/crying . All very out of the blue.

Hi all, gosh CSWS do take care, are you sure you shouldn't go for a check/ scan just in case?

Damn, keep missing that One Born. We've finally got sky plus now so I can record them. My friend at work's cousin has just given birth at 6 months, the baby was 1lb, it's not looking good

Thanks for the tip re St Ives CSWS...but I think not

Pops isn't quite ready for toilet training yet...this morning after swimming when I got home i put her in her cot for a sleep then lay down next to her to have a nap myself. She was crying a bit but I ignored her thinking she'd settle down. When I finally turned over, she'd taken her trousers off and her nappy (in which she'd pooped) and was hanging it over the side of the cot

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/03/2010 22:33

That sounds like a good sign re toilet training hmm, as she is at least recognising when she's done a poo and wants rid of it. Yuk though!

Am sure there's no need for scan. Babies are well protected and movement has been just fine.

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 20/03/2010 23:08

She holds her lower back now when she's pooped and when we ask her "have you pooped?" she says "yea" [proud mummy] I don't want to push her into anything tho. Have any of you bought/ put out a potty yet, just so they can get used to it? Do any of you intend to go straight to the toilet?

Honeymoonmummy · 20/03/2010 23:10

Oh and yes re yuck, thankfully it was a solid one!!! I took it as a reason to give the nursery a top to bottom clean tho!!

awful cough here, too.
I hope D has an ok night csws.
HMM gross to the nappy. We've had a potty for Q for quite a while. We let him play with it for a few months - he did all sorts of stuff with it. Novelty has worn off and it now lives in the bathroom. He sits on it before a bath every night. He always goes to get a nappy and wipes when he poos at home but I don't think he's quite ready to start the horrors of potty training. blick. I'm just going to let him decide when he wants to use it more regularly. Maybe the summer. I'm not bothered by nappies.

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/03/2010 09:11

Well he slept ok. Still feels a bit warm this morning, but we haven't taken his temp yet. Seems otherwise ok (except runny nose which he had before anyway).
So we're off to see Peppa Pig Live today!

OP posts:
KSal · 21/03/2010 09:24

oooh enjoy peppa pig CSWS - some friends of mine went and their kids (similar ages to your DC) loved it.

Jungle adventure was good , although emma (as you predicted) was a bit bored by the younger baby stuff, so i was chasing her through the over fives bit (i couldn't fit through the under fives).

still a bit unsure re the potty training, but she likes sitting on the potty, although she hasn't doene anything on it yet... i'm certainly not doing it with any conviction at the moment.... as long as that won't do any harm. she does say when she poos, but not consistently. oh well.

meeting up with friends today to plan a summer holiday... woohoo!!

Hello ladies, I'm so excited about the sunny weather! Finally it might soon be time to pack away the winter woolies.

How was Peppa Pig CSWS?

Have fun in Cornwall Myjob!

Well yesterday's wedding was lovely. Once it actually happened that is. The poor bride was an hour late because of nose to tail traffic all the way there. In the end she had get out of the cab and walk the last 3/4 of a mile in the wind and rain! Anyway, it was a lovely intimate do, only 35 guests, no family (bride and groom both from overseas) so just a great party for all their mates and they were just SO excited.

Today we got up early and went out for breakfast to a cafe on the Olympic site. S loved it, as there were loads of diggers and the trains going past. We took lots of pictures of S in front of the stadium so he's got a piece of history to show his grandchildren.

Ugh, I can't bear the thought of potty training yet.

Yes, bah humbug to weather forecast.

The kids loved Peppa Pig - the girls were dancing in the aisles and ds seemed quite enthralled by it all too. Sadly one of dd's friends who was supposed to be coming with us was poorly, so she and her family missed out.

Sounds like a lovely weekend aubergenie.

KSal - have you tried the soft play behind the big Tesco at Hatfield? It's council run these days, but has a decent toddler area.

Hi all, I agree with everyone re waiting as late as possible to potty train, what a palava! I'm off to Leeds tomorrow. I've been asked to take on a role looking after staff, so I'm attending a moderation meeting tomorrow to decide everyone's grade for the half-year. Am very excited about this, as I did quite a lot of this in my old firm and it's something usually done by the grade above me.

I'm down to 50mg sertraline (AD's) now, so not long until I'm off them altogether. I assume they take a few weeks to get properly out of your system.

We've had a nice day today, been to a working farm which we've just bought season tickets for, it's great, there's an indoor and two outdoor sandpits, huge play area, indoor soft play, big area of hay bales to jump on and bouncy castle. Oh and a cafe with lovely cakes I had carrot cake today, I have to say the diet is rather sliding...

StarExpat · 21/03/2010 22:15

HMM Q can take off his nappy so I keep a onesie on him all the time (you call it a vest I think??). He can't work out the snaps ("poppers") on the bottom of it in between his legs yet, so that keeps the nappy on for now
congrats on the success at work!

Aubergenie sounds like a lovely day

I always wonder about taking Q to something like that, csws. D seemed to handle it ok? Of course, he is the most calm and easygoing kid I've ever met...

We've been to out of hours doc this evening as Q "vomited" twice after being knocked in the head with our sweeper/hoover. Turns out his vomit wasn't actually vomit but it was food mixed with phlegm from his horrid cough. I under reacted to the cough and over reacted to the head bump. Good thing we were there. THey treated him with some oxygen and moist air and something else was in the mask thing (?) because we could see his ribs when he breathed in before a cough by the time we saw a dr. It was horrid. We'll give inhaler as needed and he seems better now. Ugh, parenting is so difficult!!

I told the dr, jokingly that it must seem like we're negligent as he bumps his head so much and he said "are you kidding? you have no idea how many kids who have hit their heads that I see every day.... and how many times kids all fall, bump heads" etc.... he told me I was a good mummy who cares for my ds and that made me feel good

ronshar · 21/03/2010 22:55

Typical Star believes the doctor when we have been saying the same thing for over a year

Not much to say. Went out last night, bit of a headache today!

Great news about work HMM, not so much about the poo though. Toilet training doesnt have to be hard. Dont start to soon and dont put pressure on the child. Should have it done in a few days/a couple of weeks! I would also recommend going straight to toilet unless you only have one loo unpstairs!

Sorry Ronshar. I just needed a boost yesterday.
Glad you had fun, myjob!

ugh, that sounds like hell, pistachio.

Q was weighed yesterday with the dr and he's 12 kg / 27 lbs. I thought he'd weigh loads more!! He's really thinning out as he grows taller... he's still a chubster, but not as much as he was. He's so active it's unbelievable. He rarely sits still.

CM said she'd wake him after 2 hours of his nap if I thought that would help with his night sleep. What do you all think? The way I see it is, he's sleeping all night, just waking up and wanting to get in bed with me. Once in bed with me, he sleeps but then wakes, needs to reposition a thousand times, then sleeps again once comfortable... ... just not sure because he loves his nap.
on one hand, I think, he knows how much sleep he needs and I should just let him nap however long he wants (always at least 2 hours for cm - if not, it's 2.5 or 3!!). On the other hand, I wonder if it would stop him from waking?
Maybe after he gets used to me not getting him out of his cot? I'm working on that btw and first and second wake, he just moans and shouts a bit, a little cry then off back to sleep in the cot, but the 3rd wake, he won't stop and by that time I'm so exhausted I just take him out after 30 min max and he falls straight to sleep ON me. ugh!

Wow, mammoth post. Sorry.
