Hi girls, thought the old thread was in need of a spring clean, plus, I'm sure if my memory serves me right, one of us had our May-due baby in March (Macoco???) so someone is 2 soon....!

LM enjoy the IOW, still not been myself and just been reading about where to go on the rival site! Looks like sunshine today from where I'm sitting, enjoy x

Lucky2010 · 11/08/2010 19:06

WW Isle of Wight was good, although a bit overcast which always makes places seem dreary, when if it had been a hot sunny day I would have said it was FAB!! We only went to Ryde. Let me know where 'the others' recommend to go!!!

LM my two have been monsters today. The low point being when DS1 headbutted DS2 in the library. It was thankfully quiet without the usual stuffy oldies because he was really screaming. I'm stressed at work at the moment and it's hard work on days off constantly 'managing' their behaviour.

Also trying to organise a holiday to see my friend in Abu Dhabi. DH doesn't want to stay with them because he feels he doesn't know them very well and 'he would hate it'. I've done loads of holidays I've not really enjoyed but have gone on them because he wants to go, eg driving round Europe in his very small and noisy Caterham 7 car. I'm so cross with him and feel like not sorting the skiing which is definitely his holiday. Angry rant over!

Lucky2010 · 11/08/2010 21:50

WW Seeing a friend in Abu Dhabi?? Hoe very sex and the city of you!! How on earth can DH not be up for that??

Hmm

men......

I also feel for you with the work stress etc. It's hard when your days off are as challenging, if not more challenging, than your days at work.

My two not too bad today although DD2, although very well toilet trained and even dry at night (LM tries hard not to be smug) has a terrible habit of telling us she needs a wee, then not going Hmm. It happened several times at bedtime tonight. I know it's usually just for attention, but if we don't go up to her, she just cries and screams and gets louder and louder and then DD1 starts crying and screaming....it's a fucking nightmare!! We have tried ignoring her, for up to an hour, but it's just hell.

little monkey. DD1 was always just sooo good at bedtime and sleeping.

Ooh LM on Weds I was sitting in a restaurant in Portsmouth watching the IOW ferries, did you pass us?! Smile

Sorry not to have been on much recently, have mostly been feeling very fat/breathless/heartburny, stressing about my mum and the move and sleeping! DS being mostly good but exhausting.

Hope everyone is okay

baiyu · 12/08/2010 11:17

Oh, tell a lie, it was tuesday so I guess not!

Lucky2010 · 12/08/2010 18:29

Baiyu I knew you were 'down south' but didn't realise you were so close!! SPOOKY!!

When are you due?

Any news on your Mum?

I have an appt at breast clinic next week as sometimes think I can feel something in right breast. Went to GP who couldn't feel anything but it's the second time I'd been about it so they referred me on to be sure. It's weird cos sometimes I can really feel like I'm lying on a golf ball, and other times I feel nothing, but it's not hormonally related. I have been getting right breast pain, but I think it could be my pecs being very tight and overactive from my (now chronic) right shoulder problems. I feel a quite reassured from nice female GP that she couldn't feel a mass, but will still go to appt as I think it will give me complete peace of mind I hope. I haven't told anyone in my family, as don't want to worry them. A couple of close friends know. Obviously please don't mention on facebook!

Hope you are all well, DH and I are off for a curry tonight so I went for a run along the seafront earlier to pre-burn some calories!!!!

LM xx

P.S. Baiyu I am remembering your Mum in my prayers Smile.

OP posts:
Willabywallaby · 13/08/2010 05:59

So pleased it's Friday!

LM you're right to get thoroughly checked for piece of mind, hope it's just shoulder related. But do you think you ought to get some physio on it? Wink

Like your two DS1 was never any problems putting to bed. DS2 can be a nightmare, keeps getting out of his bed and coming downstairs. I once was sorting dinner and walked into the lounge and he was sat there quite happily watching the news! He'd snuck down without me even realising. Sometimes we hear DS1 shouting 'get out of my room' where he's wandered in there. And he's dropping his afternoon nap, whereas DS1 still liked a sleep/lie down at gone 3.5 years.

Baiyu hope you're enjoying/enjoyed your time down south. I also want to know when it's due, how many weeks are you? Or is it more difficult to remember his time? Thinking of your Mum and family x

How's everyone else? I assume busy busy with the quiet days on here. I'm looking forward to a week off after the Bank Holiday weekend Grin.

But the Scots are back to school next week? Can't believe it. Not looking forward to having life ruled by school hols.

Have a good weekend!

youknowmeasharimo · 13/08/2010 07:01

Hi all,

Just a real quickie from me... I'm not really spending too much time on MN, but thought I'd drop in to say hi.

Lucky - try not to worry. I had a large (+2cm) lump which was growing fast... The consultant was so worried, that they removed it and THEN did the biopsy... and all was fine... It's quite common to find benign cysts... Obviously, you are right not to ignore it, but there are lots of other reasons you might be feeling a lump.

Baiyu - hope you are feeling OK.

Hello Willywallaby!! Smile

I LOVE IOW... I'd live in Yarmouth if I could persuade DH!! There is also Haven Street (yes, yes, there are trains there!! Grin)

I'm also Hmm at the behviour of 2 YOs!!! I'd just got Mims into a lovely routine with her naps and Haribo has bloody dropped his nap Hmm There are days when he is patently shattered, but it takes forever to get him into bed... and he's taken to getting his pillow and duvet and falling asleep on the floor by his door (Nasty evil mummy has installed a stair gate on his door, so he can't get out of his room!!!)

Haribo questions everything, and questions every aspect of my behaviour... for instance, I love Tango... but I can't so much as look at a bottle of the stuff without Haribo wanting to drink it!!!

On the plus side, his eating is much improved and we're able to introduce lots of new foods...

Life is so busy here. Mims is walking now, so I'm forever chasing around after one of the kids.

My FIL is very ill. Was talking to MIL (who is wonderful) until about 10:30 last night. She really is going through it... The docs told her last night that FIL is at the end of his life, that they think he only has days to live and that they would like to stop all treatment, but need her permission... Obviously, she feels terrible having to make the decision to stop the antibiotics. He has pneumonia, so without the ABs, he's likely to sucumb pretty quickly. So terribly sad, but I can't help feeling it's actually harder for MIL and that, for her sake, a resolution comes quickly (yes, I suppose by resolution I mean death Sad)

Well, best get on. Have got a million things to do.

Harimo. x

youknowmeasharimo · 13/08/2010 07:16

Though, I have to add... for every single incident when Haribo drives me up the wall, there is another when he has my heart melting... Mims has just fallen over and started wailing... and Haribo dashed off to get her (very favourite!) pengy penguin. Mims just loves this cuddly toy and it always calms her down. My heart is melting Grin

Willabywallaby · 13/08/2010 14:10

Harimo good to see you back, but sorry to hear about FIL, so awful for your MIL.

DS2 is also constant 'what's that, what you doing, what's that noisy' much more than DS1 was.... Unless I've forgotten Blush.

Take care all x

Lucky2010 · 13/08/2010 14:22

Thanks for your support ladies and kind words of reassurance. I have a physio appt with the lovely Alan on 18th Aug. He does acupuncture so I'm hoping to be 'needled'. Weirdly, since I've been off work, shoulder pain is MUCH better.

Harimo it's good to hear from you. So sorry to hear about FIL and MIL.
I agree with you on the whole 2 year olds being frustrating yet delicious at the same time!! DD2 is just like that. She's so funny, and I love her to bits, but she drives me insane too.
WW My 2 are just like your 2. DD1 napped in the day til 3.5yrs too. DD2 rarely sleeps in the day now, although so tired from all the fun at Uncle D's has been napping this week!!

right, back off to the fair.....

Just a real quickie...

For those of you who do this sort of thing (and I know there are a few of you)

Please keep my FIl in your prayers.

They have stopped his feeding tube now too. Sad As he is unable to swallow, he will basically starve to death. For the first time in my life, I really feel euthanasia would be better than this.

So, just waiting for the phone call now. Sad

There is just nothing to say, but a desperate need to talk, if that makes sense... he is not DHs biological father, but he is his real dad, IYSWIM.

Right old codger, but I will miss him, and am sad that my kids won't remember him... and such a horrible ending to a life. Sad

Lucky2010 · 13/08/2010 19:25

Thinking of you HM.

Prayers too XXXXX

OP posts:
Willabywallaby · 14/08/2010 08:10

I'll do my own big thoughts instead of prayers, horrible time, but puts my worries into perspective x

shonnomanom · 14/08/2010 10:04

HM my thoughts are with you and your family at this time. x

Lucky, I agree about getting checked out. its peace of mind if nothing else. I found a lump at 19y, up here they refer straight away, I saw the hospital within a week but the lump was gone already, apparently alot of women get hormonal lumps.
Also i hope you physio helps you feel better.

Baiyu, hope your keeping well and my thoughts are also to you and your family.

It sounds like our 2yo's are really testing us all these days.
Dd has been ok recently, but I has realised very quickly when to keep dd and the kids I look after seperated. As one of them is getting tired or bored they stert annoying the other then everyone is screaming, crying and lashing out. This last month or so at work I have managed to work our daily routine according to avoid these.
Schools back on Monday WOOHOO!! I miss not having my days to just myself and dd. And I miss not being home during the day. The down side to being a nanny is that you sit in someone else's house all day knowing full well that you have a pile of housework to go home to. But no more of that, the summer holidays are over!!!Grin

HM we also have a gate on dd's bedroom door.

I went to my first ever Zumba class ast night. It was really good but I dont think I have ever sweated so much in my life!! £3 for 1 hour of dance excercise is great value. Looking forward to next week already!

I hope everyone else is in good health.

Sho x

Willabywallaby · 14/08/2010 14:22

Sho good on you for the Zumba! Hope you're not too stiff tomorrow....

baiyu · 16/08/2010 14:24

Spooky indeed LM! We were staying with family near Chichester for a few days mid-week.
Hope your Dr appt is okay.

Thinking of you HM, tough tough times. Be strong Smile

Sho Well done on the Zumba, quite a few of my friends go so I've promised to try it when I'm trying to lose the baby weight.

WW I'm 33 weeks now so feeling very large, don't know where the time is going. Heartburn and leg cramps a total pain but healthy really. Still another 3 weeks til we can move house too, hmmph, not being able to nest properly is driving me mad!

My mum had her first dose of chemo about 10 days ago. Hopefully she's flying down to see us next weekend but we'll just have to wat and see if she has the energy, she's absolutely wiped out by the chemo but I guess that's par for the course. Still sounding quite upbeat so that's good.

DS on the diarolytes again today with yet another tummy bug but thankfully quite chirpy.

Hope everyone has some of this lovely sun (we have heavy rain forecast for all the rest of the week so doing all my washing asap!) Hope everyone is great.

youknowmeasharimo · 16/08/2010 16:39

Sad to report, my FIL has died. Not really unexpected but sad nonetheless.

Not all the family know yet, so please no mention on FB until I mention it please.

Sorry, to ignore everyone else's posts. I am thinking of you all.

HM xx

Lucky2010 · 16/08/2010 19:42

Thinking of you HM.

Baiyu 33 weeks??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shock, when did that happen?!! It only seems like 5 mins since you had only just found out yourself!!!

OP posts:
shonnomanom · 16/08/2010 21:22

So sorry HM, thinking of you and your family x

Baiyu, I had forgotten that you still had to move house again, poor you. I remember helping my sister move when she was 39 weeks, it was also the week before christmas, im sure you can imagine the mayhem there.
I hope your mum makes it down to see you, I imagine that your both are in need of a good mother/duaghter hug! Is your sister home yet?

Well our summer is officially over!!! School went back today. Back to normality.
Brownies starts back tomorrow and we have 5 new girls coming which is fab!
Although tbh I wish we had another week before we started back as Im currently living in a house of snotters and sneezies! not a good first impression. Im trying all the usual cold remedies to get rid of this overnight!! wish me luck! haha

Sho x

Willabywallaby · 18/08/2010 07:01

Harimo thinking of you and yours x

Baiyu Wow, where has that time gone! DS1's birthday is Sept 30th so I remember doing the summer while pregnant. How has work been going?

Sho hope the colds shift soon and the new term of brownies goes well.

LM Smile

I wonder how the summer's going for the other FMLs...

Lucky2010 · 19/08/2010 20:06

Yes WW, not many of us left now!! I was thinking about all the oldies the other day.

Just loading some photos onto FB of our summer so far, trip to Denny's, to SB's and my parents Ruby wedding picnic.

Can I just ask, what age do you all think it's appropriate to start sleepovers? DD1 (4) has been invited to one. I think she's too young. I initially said yes, but then DD1 has been a monster playing up the last few nights, so I have told her she can't go now as punishment, but also cos I don't want her to be a monster for the schoolmum having the sleepover.

AIBU???!!!

OP posts:
shonnomanom · 20/08/2010 09:30

hi
no lucky i dont think you are. Id wouldnt be to happy if i was the mum and she was playing up iykwim, plus it could put her off sleepovers in the future.
my boss was careful to have a few sleepovers at her house before letting her dd go out to one.

thanks ww, i think this is the longest cold iv have in a long time! achoo!
