dizzydixies · 03/03/2010 21:54

dizzydixies · 03/03/2010 21:55

have you sorted your double buggy out etc?

hotterpotter · 03/03/2010 21:57

Yes I did know that Sazz but think it is more a light spotting than the full-on stuck-pig effect going on here.

Oops both mine have gone straight in the cot in our room at night with no bother, despite the first midwife's s (bit she was a biatch) and slept in the pram downstairs during the day when they were tiny young.

Love Elizabeth, that would be high up my girl list, with nn Lizzy

Sambo don't you feel a bit weird perving over a teenage boy? I love all inclusive holidays, just make sure you pack loose clothing if you have as little willpower as me - the last time I put on half a stone in 2 weeks I really hope you can sort it with DP, esp re wanting DC2. Speaking as a pauper I think we just thought, oh fuck it, as long as there's just enough to pay the mortgage etc and one or two bottles of wine then who cares. They will be going to the local school and paying themselves through uni but hopefully will have brothers and sisters to make them happy

Have got that Friday feeling due to being off now until next Wednesday () so cheers

Sambo, we're the same as Hots - completely skint but having the girls as a unit should hopefully make up for failings elsewhere

I cannot believe you all fancy Edward, he needs a decent meal into him

Hots, my friday feeling now passed as I'm back on shift tomorrow, enjoy your days off though and sorry for your period showing up

hotterpotter · 03/03/2010 22:05

Well I will confess that I have, in the past, refused to believe my period as a sign of non-pg-ness and have wasted several tests being proved wrong. Good job they are so cheap

What about Arabella, nn Bella? Although maybe not as she is a whining twit in Twilight

oopsandbabycoconut · 03/03/2010 22:07

Dizzy - thanks for the calming advice and links. Not giong for double buggy yet - baby in sling, DD in pram until I can't carry bubs anymore.
On the cot front he said we can look at the weekend when we are in Bath.

Names - DH's grunting responses are:
Eleanor - little old lady I don't mind it
Evelyn - My nany's name when I was little and she was a cow
Juliette - my aunt
Alexa - he vetoed Alexandra already tonight
Georgia - 'ooh will she be invaded by russians' was his sacrastic answer
Arianne - like Aurelia was vetoed due to A A sounds.

I have just cried at him as he spoke to FIL and said we were talking about names and I had to endure 10mins of truely STUPID suggestions!

dizzydixies · 03/03/2010 22:10

oh Oops, don't panic, everything will just slot into place

RedLentil · 03/03/2010 22:11

Preens that Evelyn has turned up on a Dizzy list. Though any 'er-linn'ing is banned obv.

Having an elfin Eibhlin is pretty fab I have to say. I'm not sure Katya is a fit for Poppy as it has a bolder kind of sound.

DH is bored stiff with my theory about what names feel like when you say them so I'll just have to pursue it here.

Glad you got back safe, Hots. And glad too that you are sounding strong Sambo - that ds had to see that kind of aggression though.

My ds is back to himself after his wobbly weeks. I launched a 'get funky' campaign with him last week to try and get his confidence back up and the shake up just seems to have given him a boost. Hurrah for that. He is my little peteen and I don't like to see him moping.

He would be totally back to himself if another boy in his class didn't keep trying to convince ds that he (my ds) or I are dying. (too tired to get the pronouns /verbs right there so pick which ones sound right to you )

hotterpotter · 03/03/2010 22:13

If you are after an ending-in-a name I know a little girl not too far from me with a pretty cool one . Which, coincidentally wasn't on our list when she was born, she just didn't suit the one we had picked (Daisy)

oopsandbabycoconut · 03/03/2010 22:15

I am off to panic in my dreams ladies.

Thanks for the reassurances and she will have a name and doesn't need one before she is born. DH just noted the the most likely place panic is coming from scan on Friday and having read leaflet given by midwife on complications of Hyperthroid babies and growth restrictions.

oopsandbabycoconut · 03/03/2010 22:18

HP - it was vetoed too as was Cordelia and Matilda. DD's proper name is more in use these days has she tells us - 'not Poppy!' so trying to pair it is proving difficult! Hence we were heading on a totally different track.

RedLentil · 03/03/2010 22:20

I have been saying for a week or so that dd1 is scared of growing up and dh has been slightly .

Yesterday she ran out of playgroup and wanted to be carried out to the car. They'd had a story about growing up. At about 3 o'clock, she suddenly started sobbing and shouting 'I don't want to grow up. I want to be three forever.'

She has shot up and I think it's all a bit much to deal with. She has been such a peachy small one and it is just flying so fast.

Even dd2 seems to be reaching out on her own, now that she has shaken off her horrible bug. She ate all before and behind her this morning and was flying down the big slide at the playcentre in Cork.

She keeps going up to ds and demanding 'cuguls.'

dizzydixies · 03/03/2010 22:20

RedLentil · 03/03/2010 22:22

DS has always refused to have his name shortened - he puts up with Finty but anything else is banned.

There's a little Matilda near here and I love her name.

dizzydixies · 03/03/2010 22:22

well apart from

Celia or Cecilia
Constance
Celeste

right, now am definately gone

hotterpotter · 03/03/2010 22:28

Love Celeste too, that is also on my list, although I will be looking for a name for hypothetical DC3 with the meaning of 'fabulously wealthy' as the first two - gazelle and laughing boy have come true so far

Aaah for your DD1 red, I am not surprised she doesn't want to grow up; being 3 looks so much fun!

TwilightSurfer · 04/03/2010 00:11

names...
let me think.

Gwyneth
Gwendolyn
Rachael
Adeena
Abigail
Adriana

as for moses basket, we used a laundry basket for a little while. reese still doesn't have a proper "cot". she's been in her pack in play since birth. it had a bassinet insert originally. we are just now considering buying bunk beds for the girls (one each...so 4 beds total). we shall see.

ladies i did the unmentionable. as dh sat down to dinner i causally asked if he was offered the opportunity to freeze a few swimmers before the snip snip. he said "no"...then "why." i just said i was reading something (which i did...months ago) and thought that they should offer that type thing. his reply, "it's not like i'm not making swimmers....they just have to needle them out if i want them." interesting

bed time for the munchkin (one's already asleep....oddly it's dd1 whose out cold already). she's saying "no night night...no night night" then trying to make me forget the plan with, "look nose" and giggling and running.

springaporesling · 04/03/2010 02:14

Oops am sure you're allowed to have wobbles at this stage - I'm sure if you look back at our old threads we all were too.

From your list I like Clara, Elizabeth, Helena and Natasha but kind of agree with Sazz that I don't think Elizabeth goes too with DD1 and I had both Natasha and Natalie on the list if we'd had a dd but DH wasn't keen on the nn Nat.

Sambo maybe the holiday will enable you to persuade dh otherwise on dc2 especially with all the 'free' booze not condoning tricking him in any way of course but your situation is slightly different to when he was 19yo!

Red my Dad was a complete revelation to me on my wedding day for the first time in my life he told me I looked beautiful and his speech was really lovely and very heartfelt considering he tells really bad jokes most of the time and manages to offend my Mum quite regularly! So much so I can still remember most of it despite the fact that our friend with the video camera managed to cut him off halfway through! As I grew up in Rugby we used to escape on the train to Coventry!

springaporesling · 04/03/2010 06:08

Buckets sorry that must have been a shock. Glad DH took it well (as of course he should).

QOD hope you will be taking Loti up on her offer and that something comes up soon.

DS also been a bit grumpy but I think this has something to do with him having been up at 5am every morning this week yawn I'm exhausted and can't wait for DH to get back tomorrow night.

hey spring.. sorry your ds is grumpy must be something going around all these grumpy children.,..

i officially cannot fill up dd1.. think she must be going through a massive growth spurt.. she is eating more than me!! ..

oops feel for you but am totally useless on names.. we relied on books/radio and films for our two..

you getting broody again ts?!... i sometimes feel like i am best a being a mum and what will i do when dd2 no longer needs babying.. however i am holding out in the hope that i will be inspired to return to the life of a working girl (in the long log distance future {grin])...

feeling like death warmed up again today but as i said on hot mama's yesterday.. i'm going to stop mollycoddling myself and get on with it!!!

QueenofDreams · 04/03/2010 09:20

typed a massive long post then lost it because my connection decided to die for no apparent reason

oopsandbabycoconut · 04/03/2010 09:30

Morning all

Slightly calmer this morning Went to bed and the cramps turned into pain and the pain got worse full on contraction pain - so I cried at DH that she was arriving early and it was all his fault. DH phoned MW who saidtake 2 paracetamol and see what happens they worked and it was all over in a couple of hours only for DD to wake with a raging fever hallucinating about polarbears and icelollies . Put her in our bed, DH in spare room, DD talked in her sleep for about 2 hours and then cried at me and slept until 7 when I handed her to DH!

All this twilight talk passes over my head, I just can't get excited by vampires.

Thanks for all the names suggestions will un them past DH - when I had my cry at DH in bed he said he wanted to see her on Saturday at the 3-d scan first then talk names, moses basket can be bought too.

I am off to chiropractor and MIL coming here to have DD who appears to have not suffered from last night's shennanegins and is running around high on whatever DH fed her for breakfast.
