marking place, back later!

hotterpotter · 04/03/2010 10:43

Hello all

I expect it's too late for some swanky coffee VG which is a shame as I was awake many times in the night thanks to one or other DC oh well it's sunny so DS and I are going to play outside for a while and no doubt DD will come out for 5 minutes then complain it's too cold...

loti I hope you are feeling a bit better, it's rubbish being ill

oops no wonder you were feeling anxious last night! Glad to hear the pains are gone today though

springa I didn't know you were a midlander too! Although I am a Yorkshire lass, born in Leeds, I lived in a village near Northampton from age 10-18

TS , what's going on in your head????

Right, off to play out for five minutes a while

DD sleeping - phew!

Chiro fixed my back and says it is improving but is still concerned about my coccyx.

VG - It is spring I think everyone is meant to be feeling broody.

Dh been a darling and brought me lunch and a few treats for whilst DD sleeps.

oopsandbabycoconut · 04/03/2010 12:33

Forgot to say - I love Jojo Maman Bebe - DD lost her favorite Polar bear and I e-mailed to find out where I could get a replacement and they said they are no longer made but would see what they could find. Postie just arrived with a parcel for me and the Customer Services lady had found a Poli Bear in the back of a warehouse cupboard and sent it to us free of charge - I can't wait to see her face. The lost one has been found by someone who gave him to security at the shopping centre and security rang us to say they will keep him for us. Now we have a Poli and spare.

Should I be watching One Born Every Minute after last night?

RedLentil · 04/03/2010 13:38

Great news on the bear Oops, and eek on the contractions. I hope today is a little less eventful.

I realised halfway to school that we had a flat tyre. Stopped, unloaded gang and tore up the hill at a rate of knots. The breakdown man has just gone up to mend it and will drop the keys back when he has finished so the girls can carry on sleeping. How kind is that?

Atleast we broke down near home as myphone is still languishing between networks because of an unlock code fiasco.

DD1 has been exhausted this morning and not keen at all on the great tidy up plan. I've got to wake her now.

Can I just announce that I did some handwashing today?

alittlebitshy · 04/03/2010 13:58

oops yay for Poli and spare. Spare Bears are the best my dd asked why she doesn't have a spare bear - i pointed out that her bar (well, cat) was not her favourite when she was small - her muslins were (known as Googies in this house), so that is why she has Googie and a million spare!!!

sambo303 · 04/03/2010 14:11

oops what amazing customer service; sounds like a rough night, glad you are feeling calm now.

hots I feel no shame whatsoever perving over Edward as you put it and btw RPatz is 23

it's not about vampires per se oops its a love story with a vampire twist and teeagy and reminds me of being a teenager/unrequited love etc - got a similar flashback to those feeling upon reading Jane Eyre which is also good on that kind of intense love.

Had intense convo with dp last night - he basically said there is about 1% chance of us having dc2 and it'll take a lot of convincing to get that far. I have never heard him speak so forcefully or in such an adult fashion about anything
geez I have my work cut out... feel quite gutted about it today

GladioliBuckets · 04/03/2010 14:43

Oh Sambo. Do you think you guys could use some counselling? Him to talk over what his ex did, sounds like he didn't get to 'deal with it' at the time, and both of you to compare visions of the future and work out how to merge them? You're doing v well I think but there's no harm in asking for help, it could make the process easier with a third party. (DH & I get so embarrassed talking about big things and often they are only resolved under cover of darkness in bed with no eye contact.)

Oops How exciting, BHs are good, your body is an expert on the subject this time. I had some monstrous wake-me-up-clutching-bed-bars ones with Kurt. BTW I like Helena, if pronounced HELLena rather than HeLAYna or HeLEEna. Classy Greco-Roman origins like P's name and lots of cool nicknames eg Nell, Leni, Helly.

Have managed to have coffee at friends early this morning then my DSis tempted me out for lunch, naughty naughty. Have done NO NCT newsletter delivering, somebody spank me.

Sazz - of course it was his fault - if he had just done as he was told and talked names the baby could have arrived and had a name

Sambo - sounds like a truely tough time for you {{{hugs}}}

Buckets - your prefered pronunciation is also mine with Nellie as a nn.

oopsandbabycoconut · 04/03/2010 15:42

DH just called to say the quote came in for the new doors (ours are all horrible 70's plywood ones) I chose some nice simple oak ones and some simple handles, or so I thought The builder just came back with a quote of £234 each including handles which includes has 55% builders discount I have kindly offered to change my door ideas as we need 12 of them. Dh said persuade me

oops yikes, thought your new LO was about to make a surprise entrance to the thread there How about Elodie as an alternative to Elizabeth? Or Valentina/Larissa/Katarina if you like that Russian sound. Katarina is one of my fave names ever but is also my best friend's name so unlikely to ever get used for putative DD (would be too confusing!) Or Francesca, Seraphine, Arabel, Loveday, Aphra...

I'll stop now

Buckets double yikes You must have been cacking it. I was anxious enough when I realised DS can reach the kitchen worktop now - cue knives, kettle, radio and everything remotely sharp or heavy being pushed right to the back.

sambo don't know what to say, so sad for you It is so unfair, especially as you're such a loving mother. Doubly so as you're not responsible for events in his past. He sounds quite bitter tbh, and you don't deserve that.

TS are you thinking what I think you're thinking?

Tis a post full of for me as got some unexpected news about my job (here's a clue: ) and also had convo with DP last night about broodiness in which he admitted to feeling somewhat the same. One thing led to another later on. Er...

oopsandbabycoconut · 04/03/2010 17:29

GO CYTEEN GO on the job and the front!- We need more babies on the thread. Another of our NCT group just announced she is expecting her second so 4 down 2 to feel the pressure!

RedLentil · 04/03/2010 17:40

at broodiness Cyteen and great to hear good news might be there on the job front.

Still dealing with the chaos of tyre situation.

As a broke person I have to say Oops-buy the expensive doors. We have these ones that came in at about the price of yours before the sale (we got them at sale price)and they make our dubious 1960s house much better (we've even bought and stored some for the extension)

Everybody who comes in admires them. I think thin doors really let down some of the fab renovations I've seen. Also - nice oak ones don't have to be painted later which saves on money and aggro ...

Sambo - stay strong.

TwilightSurfer · 04/03/2010 17:46

for Cyteen. Miamla you may need to let Cyteen use that wedding dress pattern.

Buckets my doors were pricey too (at first) and after all was said and done (and we tried to do it cheaper) I wish I'd just paid the price to have them done properly the FIRST TIME instead of buying the doors, having them fit to the existing space (twice because we didn't change flooring so had to have them shortened). As of today they are still UNPAINTED/UNSTAINED. Your quote sounds good in my book! UGH!

As for my wild comment, I am always thinking. Just feels good to know that my DH has already considered the "what-if" factor. Nothing more than thoughts so no harm.

Red those are almost exactly what we have gone for oak 3 panel shaker style.

TwilightSurfer · 04/03/2010 17:58

Buckets I must be thinking about you. Seems I typed your name instead of Oops's.

QueenofDreams · 04/03/2010 18:22

cyteen great news on the job, and on the as well

DS really is at his happiest when he's just pigging out on food. (no idea where he gets that from ) Saw a thread yesterday where they said at this age a child should have about 6 tbsp of food in a meal. Um. S easily eats 4 times that in a meal. I do worry sometimes that I'm overfeeding him - but he's really not happy if I don't just let him loose to eat till he decides he's had enough. I always know he's had enough by poking his tum. If it's rock solid and tight as a drum, he's had just about enough. (he is currently toddling around with just a bulging belly)

TwilightSurfer · 04/03/2010 18:57

QOD that is the funniest thing I've heard today. Reese eats her food then goes and finishes her sisters. Let's just say I don't worry she'll stop when she's full. Right?

GladioliBuckets · 04/03/2010 19:21

I quite like unvarished doors, tis deconstructionalist innit? We replaced our manky knackered Edwardian ones with B&Q versions of same. In our opinion, anything was an improvement. I would really recommend glazed interior doors downstairs where possible, really lightens up a house.

RedLentil · 04/03/2010 19:39

Oops, can you check if that is the price for them 'dipped'- (varnished)- or not.

Ours were about ?90 a door, ?50/?60 for each handle/lock set, and then ?60 for the dipping
(except we managed to get some of the doors without paying the extra as someone else had paid for that and then brought them back unused. If it does include the dipping and handles then the price isn't way out.

We're just planning our extension now-drawings here on the table, and are in the unusual position of having an old house with masses of light (I've never seen a house with windows that reach so far into the corners). We'll used glazed ones in the middle bit ...

I'm picking kitchens at the moment and will be asking for the Aug 08 wisdom in due course.
