sorry oops, tea is long gone! it was a good cup though . thanks for offering, docs aren't meant to go in post to anywhere though but i'm going to ring reg office today to see if they'll accept them the day before. if not, anyone fancy a day trip to bristol to see a stressed blooming bride and her mischievous adorable son?

ooh, wish i'd made you a cup of tea now, might have been more chance of me getting a cookie!

oopsandbabycoconut · 18/03/2010 07:29

If you need to come down just yell and we will check the diary be there

Well for a stupid o'clock start we have been productive - I have ddecorated 2 dozen cupcakes, made a double batch of flapjacks, 3 dozen cookies and am still short a cup of tea! DD has helped spread chocolate icing on my white cupboards, attempt to wash it off, wash the floor with smoothie, squash as many shreddies as she could with her hands then wipe them all down my legs. Lovely time had by all

GladioliBuckets · 18/03/2010 07:30

Good luck Miamla Springsling Just have a trolleydash in Primark when you get here, you'd be hardpushed to spend more than £30 on a whole capsule wardrobe for UK visits.

Argh kids all up and ready for breakfast at 6.40 today .

luckoftheirish · 18/03/2010 07:36

Miamla · 18/03/2010 07:59

sort out hair cut..
sort out docs for reg office...

hmmm

oopsandbabycoconut · 18/03/2010 08:00

oooh what favours are you having? are you having a cake?

Miamla · 18/03/2010 08:29

hmm, very good question re favours! not sure yet! that's what i'm sorting out!! we had thought of making up some magnets with the design of our wedding invite on them. (invite was a photo of my initials and DP's initials carved into a tree, surrounded by a carved heart). aunts/uncles/grandparents will love it but think i'm complicating things by having two different types of favours so poss having one magnet per family group and then having chocolates or something for rest. open to suggestions though!

and yes, good question re cake! we are having one...hopefully! an ex-colleague's dp is making it for us. he's really good but doesn't seem to take instructions very well so who knows what we'll end up! i suspect up until now he's been given free reign over what he's making! hey ho

cyteen · 18/03/2010 09:24

Miamla you could make heart-shaped biscuits and ice people's names on them, then they can double up as place settings too We're not having favours as such because we're having a buffet rather than a sit-down meal, so no seating plan, so no place settings...but we are going to have bubbles instead of confetti so everyone will get a little personalised bubble pot.

I have seen what I'm going to get DP for a little wedding gift, too: a silver guitar pick engraved with the date. Going to get myself one to wear round my neck - I thought it would be a nice way to include my bro, since he won't be there to play in person

DS has the world's snottiest cold so came in with us at 3am, where he proceeded to take up the entire bed and duvet. When did he get so big?

cyteen · 18/03/2010 09:24

Massive overuse of the word 'so', there

oopsandbabycoconut · 18/03/2010 09:25

Miamla - what about these? Not sure how much you were planning on spending.

GladioliBuckets · 18/03/2010 10:28

Surely an arty crafty friend could make some personalised seed packets? (NOT volunteering mind.)

Since it's Easter, how about just some Cadbury's mini eggs in net/tulle bundles to put a seasonal spin on the old sugared almonds? Or something with a gold / sunflower theme? Actually the tiny tiny Cadbury bars in purple would go nicely with the flowers too.

Making up was minimal, I told him it was all up to him then he stayed up v late practising for gig on Sat.

Miamla · 18/03/2010 10:56

oooh i love the idea of packets of seeds!!!

but yes, also had the idea of heart shaped biscuits, bought a suitable cutter and then realised what a daft idea it was! i can't make biscuits to save my life so the thought of making 80 and then naming them all brought me down with a bump!!

and thanks for reminding me about bubbles... we're having those but i'd completely forgotten!

hmm, liking the mini egg idea too and the mini cadbury bars.....

damn! too much choice now!!

I think choir is sorted! certainly got a good man on the job (both buckets and red leads pointed me in the same direction in the end so thank you both!)

hmm, what else was i doing? bugger, haven't phoned reg office yet!

Miamla · 18/03/2010 11:08

gah! my local reg office talking nonsense! they can be posted! woo hoo!
but she was asking what readings etc we want...erm....don't know!

Miamla · 18/03/2010 11:27

where have all my wedding planners gone?!
i'm not going to have to make some decisions for myself, am I?

QueenofDreams · 18/03/2010 12:13

House is a tip, so really need to do more tidying today.
DOn't know when next 'll be on due to damn computer, so good luck miamla just in case I don't get on before your big day!

Miamla · 18/03/2010 13:00

ooh as if by magic some of my team arrive!

qod make sure you at least have a sit down when S naps...and that's an order!

thanks lwfh oops what i really need is for dp to reply to some of the emails i've sent him this morning!! got a whip handy? (you've got fb mail btw!)

TwilightSurfer · 18/03/2010 13:19

DD1 started puking (all over her room) at 9:30pm. Puking stopped about 5am. DH up for the first shift and I took the second. We are both this morning. She seems on the mend. Neither girl is going to school today.

AF arrived at 8:30am with a load of baggage in tow. Apparently she was on safari.

Wedding treat idea: Candle. A small one, pretty, your wedding date & names on it. Very useful to guests down the road when the lights go out. We still have two left from my cousins wedding in 2005.

Off to do a few more odds and ends before tackling the puke room. Not looking forward to cleaning detail.

WARNING Do NOT stick your fingers inside your child's mouth. Reese almost bit the tip of mine off. I only stuck my fingers in to find what is bothering her....then she closed her mouth.

Miamla We had verse 44 of the Tao Te Ching for our reading. It's not particularly romantic but our commitments were based on the feeling of contentment that we got together, that nothing else is as important as enjoying your life.

lwfhthebagpipeplayer · 18/03/2010 14:33

someone somewhere

lwfhthebagpipeplayer · 18/03/2010 14:35

ooooh, poor all you TS. I hope you recover soon

Miamla · 18/03/2010 14:37

i've just found this one.... I really like it but DP not replying to my emails still!

The Art of a Good Marriage

Happiness in marriage is not something that just happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say ?I love you? at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is doing things for each other,
not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding and a sense of humour.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal,
dependence is mutual and the obligation is reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right person, it is being the right partner.

Miamla · 18/03/2010 14:38

not sure about yours buckets..sorry!

lwfh... i like that but not sure i want to admit to seeing DP naked in front of his parents!!
