An Ode to Mummies

May your other halves remember
May your little ones be delightfully behaved
May your cups of tea be hot and your breakfast how you like it
And may your lie in be longer than mine!

Off to catch up but thinking especially of you today Dizz

HAPPY Mothers Day Lovely Ladies

Happy Birthday Red

Had a lie in until 9 and was still sleeping when DH came in with paint roller and tray to touch up some paint BUT he did get up with DD at 6.30, she has been fed, amused, they have tidied and done washing, Picked me flowers from somewhere and I have a card He is now off to Costa to buy me a coffee and almond danish The we are off for a giant walk somehwere.

RedLentil · 14/03/2010 09:34

Thanks for the birthday wishes.

Dh is working already, but I got to open a wedding card from him with 'congratulations' on the front .
I also got to rip the Christmas paper off the series of The Wire we've already started watching ...

Off to make sure dd1 wears something vaguely sensible ...

GreenGardenia · 14/03/2010 10:18

Congratulations on your birthday, Redser!

And happy Mothers' Day / Mother's Day / Mothering Sunday to the rest of you, enjoy your beautiful babies today.

Back later x.

Miamla · 14/03/2010 10:47

christmas paper and a wedding card?!! he's really spoiling you red!

RedLentil · 14/03/2010 11:04

Ah, he is very, very overworked at the moment. It would be nice if he had some time off, but he'd only be freaking about the pile of things he has to do.

How is the dressmaking going?

RedLentil · 14/03/2010 11:06

Also, my chances of getting sequin converse and the new Derek Walcott book would have improved massively if I had actually mentioned them out loud.

hotterpotter · 14/03/2010 11:34

DD sulking a bit because it isn't her day I have pointed out that apart from Mothers/Fathers/Birthdays the remaining 360 tend to be all about her but she isn't impressed...

Happy Birthday Red, hope you have a lovely time with spring sunshine and an adoring family

CaptainCaveman · 14/03/2010 11:50

Happy birthday red

Happy mothering SUnday to us all

We've been to church which was bloomin hard work delightful as we were given flowes and 'medals' (made by the brownies). Ds1 was being his usual boisterous self and O was charging up to the front of the church anytime he broke free of my grasp. I've come home for a rest!!

Sorry I've been absent, the days just run away from me atm.

Hope you are all well though - what have I missed?

springaporesling · 14/03/2010 13:56

LWFH tis not Mother's Day here either (sometime in May I think?) but don't have a problem celebrating twice .

Happy Birthday Red

Phoned my Grandma to wish her Happy Mother's Day. DS said 'bye bye Nanny' to her on the phone and she was in tears - bless her - I can't wait for him to see his Great Grandma in a couple of weeks.

cyteen · 14/03/2010 14:15

Bonne anniversaire LegumeRouge

Hands up who else is slightly sick from eating too much chocolate Today has been wonderful so far: lie in till 9am with my book, hot tea and toast on tap; handmade card from DS (with a little bit of help from DP) and a lovely John Smedley jumper. We've been to the park, acquired an allotment (!) and now DS is snoozing while DP gets started on our Sunday meal

Special love to all the motherless mothers out there. I think we can all be proud that we're doing a bang-up job of raising our gorgeous children regardless.

CaptainCaveman · 14/03/2010 14:20

cyteen my waistline is a disgrace at present . Christmas, birthday and mothers day have helped no end...

cyteen · 14/03/2010 14:24

GIve over, you're a mere slip of a girl It's all that hockey.

oopsandbabycoconut · 14/03/2010 14:29

No Choccie here just marshmallows and fudge DH kinda got into the spirit of things then discoverd the grand prix was on and lost his way slightly - HUGE black clouds here and the odd drop of rain have put him off the walking plan so him and DD are off to town in the car for the last things they need to make dinner - which is a VERY frightening concept. SO Flowers and card - tick, general looking after mummy things - cross, allowing mummy naps - cross, allowing Papa I've been up since 6.30am naps - tick cooking mummy dinner - tick. All together not bad considering he forgot to get his mother anything .

CaptainCaveman · 14/03/2010 17:31

I have put on 6lb above my usual weight. I no longer have an issue with food, but my clothes are getting a little snug and that ain't good!

GladioliBuckets · 14/03/2010 17:57

Wotcha, v sleepy mummy here. Went to see a grown up funny/scary Hansel & Gretel at the theatre last night, in full cocktail dress regalia, my BF and I were the best-dressed people there. We then went to a 30th birthday cocktail party and drank and danced til 3am. Then walked the mile or so to BF's house in heels with her grown up stepson as our bodyguard. Was 4am by the time I got into bed and 10.30 when she climbed in beside me with mugs of tea and promises of a fry up. I whizzed home at 11.30 via Co-op to buy lunch for impending inlaws visit, made it by the skin of my teeth. DH totally uncomplaining, merely amused. And Kurt has been adorable, giving me extra cuddles, rams and laptime all afternoon - think he hadn't realised how much he missed me until I came home!

V much looking forward to an early night now...

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 14/03/2010 18:37

DD and DH playing with her kitchen making dinner - I ended up cooking the real one or we would all still be waiting!

I have had the loveliest day ever I love my little family SO MUCH, they make life shiny and new

On a semi-unrelated note, I can't stop thinking about the slim chance that I might be pregnant after our random moment of madness last week. Have started doing all the crazy symptom-spotting and half-convincing myself, aaarrgghhhh. It's so stupid because I know I'll just end up feeling a bit sad when my period arrives, even though timing-wise it would all be a bit unsensible.

I need a firm yet understanding shake.

TwilightSurfer · 14/03/2010 22:03

Cyteen I am now a firm believer that symptoms are a head game as I am CD34 with all the lovely pregnancy symptoms and DH is free of swimmers. Soooooooooooo. I wish you all the best if you want to be pregnant and potentially are pregnant. If you don't then no worries.

Very nice to hear about the mostly all good Mothering Day goodies. Like Singapore & LWFH, I must wait til May.

Would like to nap but since the time has changed it would be bad. No sense in napping at 6pm.
