poisonwho?

Happy New Year, Happy Valentine?s and I might as well throw in a Happy Easter for good measure given my form lately. Didn?t manage a single post on the last thread so I thought I?d better cheat and catch up from work for once. I used to be able to MN freely at work but combination of new job, new desk & new manager is conspiring against me. I do always read eventually (generally whilst I?m bolting down my cereal before legging it out of the door at ridiculous o?clock in the morning) but rarely get to the end of the thread and never quite manage to post. How do you lot manage it?

Have to say I?m really not coping well with being back at work, particularly with my huge commute which is going to get a whole lot huger from next week when one of the train lines I use closes down for 3 months. I put in a request to go down to 3 days a week which was turned down but they let me have 4 days instead. I?m not sure I can even handle that though ? I?m just knackered and run down all the time and the last few weekends I?ve been ill and pretty useless for the kids. Bah.

Oh, too too much to catch up on but I wanted to say daisy sorry to hear of all you?ve been going through and hope that things start to get better for you all soon.

And of course congrats to LadyT and Summer on your news!

Should do mountains of personals but if I do I just won?t ever get this posted. Am off home at 4pm till Tuesday (hurrah) so I will try and make an effort to post over the weekend. Is the meet-up still on next Monday? Can somebody link or let me know when/where please? Would love to come but depends very much on whether DP is up for giving me a lift into London and back (as I?m buggered if I?m getting behind the wheel of a car to London on my day off).

Kayzr · 18/02/2010 15:38

I carry most of my weight on my waist. It's quite annoying as I still have fairly thin legs and they look
quite silly sticking out my fat body.

Beans, do not complain. I was a 34DD and I am now a 40E. It's horrible trying to find a bra.

poisondwarf · 18/02/2010 15:45

Yes Beans, do not complain. I've gone from a C to an H. Quite obscene - and not in a good way.

LadyThompson · 18/02/2010 15:48

London meet up thread

Hello Poison! Sorry the commute is so tiresome.

And sorry to all those with deteriorating bodies I think you know I feel your pain, though I do feel if I lost the weight I'd be not too dissimilar to how I was (could be wrong though). Monstrous thighs and bum, bit of a tummy, much bigger boobs is my plight. If I had your legs, Kayz, I'd be thrilled

Veggiemummy · 18/02/2010 15:57

Hey PD so lovely to 'see' you love. Damn your naughty work. I find I can fit MN in if I give up things like housework and developmental care for my offspring. I have no choice I get quite frustrated reading through a longtime after the fact as I want to comment on things but the moment had gone. Not good about the train trip to work, you sound like you need a long long holiday.

I thought Chanel polish was some posh furniture cleaner at first but now I see it's a face prettier upper thing.

Aub I know what you mean. I'm going through this faze at the moment where I feel I should do something about my appearance buying nicer clothes because in 10 years time I will look back at my late 30's and think u could have pulled those outfits off and instead u just looked frumpy. Oh god in 10 years time I'll be in my late 40's!

LadyThompson · 18/02/2010 15:59

Veg, it's nail varnish

Beans33 · 18/02/2010 16:05

Hee hee - veggie - that is v sweet mistake re the nail polish! I read it as Polish as in from Poland. Shows how far from beautifying we all are!

Yes, know mustn't complain about boobs as they're a manageable size. Just wish they weren't so long. Starting to emanate my mother's pitta bread boobies.

Hello poison - sorry to hear work so miserable. Sure it'll get better!

Ooh, meet up might work for me too - but not 100% sure on childcare arrangements from DH as yet!

xx

Beans33 · 18/02/2010 16:09

Oh shit. Just sneezed at my desk and a bit of pee came out. Luckily I'm sitting down. Could have been mighty embarrassing. I am revolting! Note to self: PELVIC FLOORS!

Aubergines · 18/02/2010 16:21

I envy you big breasted women, my weight has been redistributed from by boobs to my tummy. I used to be D cup now I am preactically flat.

Lovely to hear from you PD. Gosh I hope we can all meet on Monday. We are having trouble finding a good sitter.

Beans, lift and hold, lift and hold.

DH, the star, is taking over childcare at 5.30 so I can go to Westfield and beautify myself ahead of our family photo shoot tomorrow (ugh, ugh, ugh - damn you MiL and your torturous Christmas present).

Beans33 · 18/02/2010 16:30

Oh lord, that is quite torturous. Poor you, Aubs - but you'll treasure the pic one day, I'm sure!

There's a little van near us, with a chap who does portraits out of the back of it and they're beautiful. You don't have to pay anything until you've seen the pictures - he puts them up on the internet and you can choose to buy them or not. Was thinking about getting myself one for mother's day!!!

Beans33 · 18/02/2010 16:50

PS What was the good game on facebook? might have a go when DH goes out tonight! x

Rubena · 18/02/2010 17:45

Beans the game isn't that good - it's happy island and i'm baffled as to what the point of it is but it's strangely addictive and I keep returning to check on my Hotel upgrade progress and see how many attractions I can buy
I laughed so hard at your sneeze / pee!!!

Oh another one I laughed at was the Face polish Oh Veggie you do make me laugh, are you sure you're not pregnant?
Right there are several links up about the free preggo money now and i'll probably go an forget myself

Poison! blast from the past! I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering if you were lurking these days!

Right, midwife appointment all fine though what the heck do they do - I could have practically done it myself! BP fine, Heart beat great and Pee test normal
back at work in a week for 2/days a week but only have to do about 3 months as have to take leave before ML starts! happy days!

Kayzr · 18/02/2010 17:49

I have a poorly DS2. He is just screaming and screaming his little head off. It's been 8 days since his 2nd MMR jabs so I really hope it's that.

Veggiemummy · 18/02/2010 18:41

What a ning bong I am! Me the lover of nail polish too. I somehow thought it was like a foundation, you know how they change the names for things these days.

DS2 & I went for a swim at the Overbosch zwembad today it was brilliant. The pools here are so good they have the usual lap pools and teaching pools but then they have these other areas that's have lagoons and baby play pools with slides and blocks to play with in the water and that kind of swirley water thing like they have at center parcs where you just drift along with the water. This one even has an area where you can lay back under heat lamps and feel like your in some warm resort, with a view our over the park outside, and of course a poolside cafe. I love it. Jordi like his brother just loves the water however unlike his brother the water wings don't hold him up! Poor little man wanted to paddle off but everytime I let go of him in the deeper water he sank to his eyes! He thought it was quite funny but I think he really wants to paddle about. I remember DS1 was so pleased when I first put the water wings on him because he could swim away from me, rather than bring held. I was using the ones from the pool so maybe if I buy some for his age they may be better.

We met with DS1's teacher today and she is happy with him. She said he does seem to understand some of what she says but is reluctant to speak in Dutch. I think it's because he is left handed so may have a little trouble with finding the words. She said that made sense, but we are going to encourage him to be a bit more confident about speaking Dutch. She also said as his little friend at school speaks English he has not had as much incentive. But as he is wanting more to play with the other kids it might change. All in all she was happy with him and quite likes him. She is a realiy lovely teacher unfortunately she will be retiring soon which I think DS1 will be sad about but she only works 3 days and I think the teacher who works the other 2 days will take over the full week and she is lovely too. She cuddles him loads so he likes her.

They have tomorrow off and then they are on holidays next week so I'm quite happy because I have him back for a bit. We have our friends from Derby coming over on Sunday their son and DS1 are the same age and best very good friends (DS1 refuses to have a best friend as he says they are all his best friend) so it will be nice to have him for DS1 to play with. Unfortunately though he is the one that hits DS1 so hopefully he will not be doing any of that.

Gosh I've rambled on a bit. Where is Kiwi?

Veggiemummy · 18/02/2010 19:05

Kayz why did DS2 have a second MMR? Veggiebaby had to have a second because the Dutch doctor wasn't happy that he had his 10 days before he turned 1 (bloody poo bums) but your DS shouldn't have had another yet. If he did have another I wonder if he had a big antibody building boost that's what I think happened to veggiebaby and why he was so sad (& screamy)

oh rubs was going to say about the naps. Veggiebaby went through a one nap phase but for about the last week he has wanted 2 again and if he doesn't get the second he is in meltdown by 5.30pm and doesn't eat much dinner (it happened today). On the up side he is asleep by 6.30pm with only one nap but if he naps in the arvo he doesn't sleep til 7.30-8pm. But then he has 2, 1.5 hr naps during the day which is nice for me.

Kayzr · 18/02/2010 19:37

I've just checked his red book. The HV said he was having his second MMR but it was his second Pneumococcal one and his first MMR that he had. Just ignore me.

Veggiemummy · 18/02/2010 19:59

Your HV is so dumb Kayz. I was a bit interested though because I do wonder if DS2 was unwell because of having the 2 imms. However I think it was a virus as he had a high temp for 4 days and he's had the compulsory post-viral rash.

Kayzr · 18/02/2010 20:01

It was the fairly normal HV too!!!

Rubena · 18/02/2010 20:03

Hmm operation day 2 of one day nap..... He was not too bad thismorning as he woke up at 0830 and seemed ok - gave him an early lunch at 1145 then he was starting to melt down so put him down at 1215. he napped until 1:45-2pm ish and woke up happy. Gave him his afternoon milk and then I had to go to my M/W appointment but mil was here. She said he was ok but started to melt down a little and looked really tired when I got back at 4pmish but I just entertained him and gave him a snack etc, and he was fine especially when I allowed him to climb up the stairs and play with the balance ball managed to have most of his spag bog at 515pm ish and then started geting really tired by 6pm so pajama's, skipped bath, milk, In the Night Garden, and 10 mins of pulling books off the shelf and fast asleep by 645pm so another 0830 rise would be delightful please babyrubena I have a feeling it'll be back to two naps though as it was a stretch today....
Beans I added you on FB and then I can invite you to my Island How sad am I

Rubena · 18/02/2010 20:04

Oh and Veggie the picture you paint of that new life over there sounds lovely! I want to go and try our local indoor water park thing now!
I have ds signed up for Swimming lessons starting after easter so I must get him back in the water soon especially as he's hating his bath right now

Rubena · 18/02/2010 20:08

Even sadder than that actually - I just got excited as I have One born every min on sky plus, and American idol is on and then Trashy Katie Price well dh is at work so no fights over the remote or the laptop

Verso · 18/02/2010 20:20

Hello, ladies! I must catch up... kayzr sent me over here to say hello as we bumped into one another on a different thread . Fab to see you all as chatty as ever - and still out and about with your glamorous lifestyles (Brits?!) etc.

Life is pretty settled here (for now). New job isn't so new any more - six months in next week. Just back from Snowmageddon in DC - got delayed a day on the way back, very exciting! 75 inches of snow!

Interesting to see Girl With a Dragon Tattoo is out on film. I don't think I'd be able to watch it as I can't do violent films either, though I raced through the book and thought it was highly entertaining (ie distracted me from the daily commute!)

Kayzr · 18/02/2010 20:21

Hello Verso I am very jealous of your trip to DC. I have always wanted to go there.

Beans33 · 18/02/2010 20:31

Hey Verso - how are you doing? Hope all well!

Rubes - DD been on one nap a day for over 2 months now and it seems to work ok. Occasionally have a little nod off on the way back from the shops or something. But she gets up at 7-7.30ish, then no sleep til 12.30. Then up at around 3ish and that's it til bedtime. On occasion she'll nod off and I'll put her down at 11 and she sleeps til 1ish, then has lunch and lasts the rest of the day. But it's never more than one now. Doesn't seem to matter. Just means I have to be on standby to let her routine waiver between sleep at 11 or sleep at 12.30! I never used to be flexible. It's a bit of a shock!!!

I'm going to watch My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding tonight. Marvellous. And got Hotter than my Daughter on BBC3 on at moment. Heaven.

Beans33 · 18/02/2010 20:51

PS Bit worried as Whizz was weighed in A&E on Tuesday and has gone from being 50th centile down to 25th now. Hmmm.
