This was the only thing I could remember some saying should be the next title!

Mom, I love it thanks for the new thread.

DS1 has just woken up screaming. He just kept saying that he had fallen in the water. He woke at 4am last night/this morning too. He looked so scared. . I actually do not know how DS2 slept through it.

MomOrMum · 16/02/2010 20:46

someone saying...

Duh.

Decided house of ill here. DS had his first projectile vomitting episode on Friday night (I was out for cocktails at the time...sorry DH ) and then obscene nappies for the rest of the weekend. Thought we had seen the back of it by Sunday night, until DH and I both went down hard with the same bug. Violently ill all night Sunday and laid up all day Monday.

This is the second sick day I have taken in two weeks. Honestly, I don't think I've ever taken a sick day before this!

DS is still off his food, and really grizzly. Sounds like the same as many of the DCs on here - pointing at random stuff and then screaming if I don't get it for him, yelling if I leave the room, yelling, yelling, yelling. Making me crazy!

Better dash, actually, as I need to now catch up on work after spending all day yesterday with my head down the loo.

MomOrMum · 16/02/2010 21:10

Oh no Kayz. Don't tell me that. I need to believe that DCs your DS1's age don't wake up at night EVER. Indulge me in this fantasy please.

OP posts:
Kayzr · 16/02/2010 21:13

Mom, he probably wakes once or twice every few months unless he is ill.

MomOrMum · 16/02/2010 21:44

I'm just kidding. It obviously totally normally for them to wake up at night. I remember having terrifying dreams as a kid and it is so frightening to wake up in the dark.

I just tell myself lies about DS some day sleeping through every single night, just to help get me through the day!

Finally i'm up to date.

Did anyone else lose MN last night. I had written a long post (which included the vegemite song in it's entirity) and it didn't post because MN died.

Katie they don't have vegemite here, but they have marmite, does it have good stuff too?

Beans I also said (I swear) that it sounded like eczema and you needed emolient and bath oil like oilatum, hang on did I say this bit already?

Spot they don't diagnose asthma in under 5's because kids airways are proportionally much smaller than adults so lots of different things can make them narrow or inflame very easily to a point where it can compromise air intake. In kids they have to be really tight to hear the wheezing and even then they will just cough. Kids tend to cough because the airway constriction irritates them so they cough. The best way to diagnose asthma (when they do) is to see if the respond to inhalers. Does that make sense? Is he still seeing the respiratory person?

Beans sorry about your A&E trip. Gosh poor whizz, she does sound run down, get the MMR as soon as possible but I think you where right to wait.

I have to say I wouldn't stress yourself about the talking Rubs, 15 months is very young to be stringing sentences together, I have never looked after a child who could speak that young. DS1 didn't really speak until after he was 2 we weren't too concerned as he is left handed and has 2 languages (well almost 3 now). I don't like to brag but both DH & I think he is particularly eloquent now for his age (but I guess we would). He seems to really enjoy using new words and does so quite confidently. DS2 has Dadda, which he says in a cute questioning way on the phone and roaaaaarrrrr which is usually copying DS1's monsters or occasionally the lion in 'dear Zoo'. I think it's good to encourage but simple stuff like reading and talking is good but it doesn't have to just be talking to the LOs it's also good to keep them near when you are talking to others. If you are having coffee with friends it's good for them to observe how you interact.

I did the most intensive yoga class that I have had for ages, I'm starting a Ashtanga yoga course in a month, I need to shape up for that!

Hi Trace.

Thanks for yet another great thread title.

Sorry about the money bleeding Lady. Hope your night out was ok.

Veggiemummy · 16/02/2010 22:09

Kayz the triathlon sounds great and don't worry no one looks good in a wetsuit, however you can look around and find one that is a pool swim. If you find one (and most are) you just need to estimate your swim time and they will group you in a start group with a similar time.

katie3677 · 16/02/2010 22:10

Just checking in, off to Dorset for a few days tomorrow, but will check the health properties of Marmite for you Veg

Veggiemummy · 16/02/2010 22:11

Should that have been, entirety, is that a word?

urbanewarrior · 17/02/2010 01:54

Hello. bookmarking really, but brits were fabulous. Am still too excited. And up too late.DD is also up though and that isn't so good...

Veggiemummy · 17/02/2010 09:40

Wake up Urbane, I want to hear all about it!

TheInvisibleHand · 17/02/2010 09:52

Just bookmarking. Sorry for the ills though - we're struck down too. DS woke up with a raging fever this morning (but came down again quickly thank goodness).

Rubena · 17/02/2010 11:45

Bookmarking - 2 of you! I know I'm hung up on this but please tell me how on earth this helps in keeping up with the thread? My page is set up all wrong I feel.....

SummerLightning · 17/02/2010 11:49

rubes i am guessing some people don't bother with the threads I am watching and just use the Threads I am on to keep up...that's what I do anyway...

Rubena · 17/02/2010 11:57

oh I see! But it's so much easier to just 'watch' threads - no?

SummerLightning · 17/02/2010 12:03

Probably!! Just habit for me, also if I post on something else apart from here I would forget to say I am watching it and then forget about it.
Oh - Rubes I wanted to ask you, what is a good price for a 2nd hand P&T sport? With the doubles kit and cocoon. There is one on sale round here for 200 quid, am thinking of buying it. Seems quite a good deal looking at sale prices on ebay (usually 200 quid plus)
Just asking cos I know you got yours 2nd hand.

Barcelona was ace by the way!! But I need to do some work so can't post lots now.
Sorry to hear about all ill and clingy babies....mine is ok at the moment, but just heard about a sickness bug going round nursery. Oh joy!

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 12:27

Rubes, I never watch threads. I find it easier to use 'threads I'm on' but that might be because I am usually on about 15-20 threads at a time.

Beans33 · 17/02/2010 12:35

Veggie - you were absolutely right! And we're using Oilatum cream on her until we get the prescription cream - diprobase, I think. Will buy Oilatum baby bath as well to help. We couldn't get prescription last night as it was a 1 hour wait and the prescription wouldn't work in a normal chemist, had to be the hospital pharmacy. total waste of time. Grrr. Never mind. Whizz is so much happier today and I'd even go as far as to say perky!!

xx

sybilfaulty · 17/02/2010 12:57

Hello everyone!

Just bookmarking for later. Am supposed to be working from home today but spent rather too long on phone / Amazon already!

Hope all are well. Back later.

Aubergines · 17/02/2010 13:04

Urbane, wakey-wakey, hurry-up and dish the gossip. Veggie and I are bored and need to live vicariously through you.

Beans - glad the scan went well and that the rash is "just" eczema. Did you get some good pics?

Trace - I hope Lu's coealic screen is all clear. Fingers crossed for you.

We had a journalist turn up our door this morning. He was following a story about something DH is marginally involved in at work. It is so annoying because the media has skewed this story so much to make a scandal when the true facts are totally unscandalous. DH was itching to have a go at the reporter but knew that would probably back-fire so we just had to be polite and firm and tell him to leave. Then he was on the phone outside when our old nanny turned up and we saw him trying to talk to her. She can talk the hind leg off a donkey and was quite happy to chat so we had to intervene again. It was so pointless as DH is nothing to do with the part of the story that is the "scandal" and by talking to our old nanny it felt like he wanted to paint us as personally involved. My blood is boiling and I want to complain to someone about intrusion but in reality I doubt he did anything wrong. Arrghhh. I hate having nowhere to direct my anger.

Rubena · 17/02/2010 13:09

Summer - I bought mine on Ebay as just a single and I can't remember but I think it was around £200. I might be wrong as it was too long ago to check what I paid in Ebay history. I remember it was a good deal at the time as I'd done a lot of research so the deal you are going for sounds really good as they hold their value well. It was only about 4 months old, and is the Sport model but it only came with the sleeping bag / foot muff thingy, so then I bought the cocoon seperately - also on Ebay but new. I am planning to buy the doubles kit too and will probably buy the bouncer attachment too since I recently sold my bouncer on Ebay as I hated it!
Thanks for the bookmarking info - got it now. I find it frustrating what ever method I use to keep up these days as the threads move ultra fast!
Beans so glad dd is feeling better

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 13:24

I'm watching the mend figure skating. They are just amazing. The boys are amazed and they are totally mesmerised by it. Might leave it on all day.

I think I might start some knitting for the next baby. I have planned stuff for both boys and I have never finished it so if I start 6 months before ttc I might stand a chance.

Kayzr · 17/02/2010 14:00

Or the mens figure skating even.

SummerLightning · 17/02/2010 14:03

Was wondering what you were on about there Kayz!
I like the ice skating too.

Rubena · 17/02/2010 14:30

Aub how annoying about that journalist to say the least!

Can you add me to the list of being bored and wanting to live vicariously through Urbs... I am very about her outing - how on earth do you get to go to that? Clearly rubbing shouldners with the right people!
I am at very high risk of getting addicted to solitare on my phone today - not to mention Happy Island on FB which I still haven't worked out the point to, but I still keep going back and upgrading hotels
I need to get out today.....
