This was the only thing I could remember some saying should be the next title!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MomOrMum · 16/03/2010 11:08

Well, clearly calcuating these things is not my strong suit but my cycles seem to be 25-28 days, so I couldn't test until somewhere between next Tues and Fri? I feel totally normal today so maybe I was just freaking out for no reason.

Though one very early symptom I remember from last time was copious "discharge" shall we say and that seems to be happening this time again.

Though I could be ovulating much later than I thought maybe and that could be the symptoms rather than preggo?

Anyways....will certainly keep you posted with any other crazy symptoms I create out of thin air in the next week!

LOL Veggie that's what I did think yes!
Summer - I think I look pregnant yes but it depends on how much I've eaten. If I eat a proper meal, I look pregnant but if I just have a snack I look hideously fat.

lady - I'm only 20 this weekend but have already put on 5kg's or just under a stone and I can't remember last time what I weighed although I know at the end I'd managed 15kg's total (just under 2.4 stone) or 33lbs and i'm trying not to get to that again this time but I'm not trying too hard

Rubena · 16/03/2010 11:18

oh wow Summer, I'm Aug 7th

Rubena · 16/03/2010 11:33

Summer - do you mind if I ask how much weight you have gained thus far? I bet you're one of those who don't weigh yourself

Case in point for me.... I just ate a baked potato for lunch (at 1130) with tuna/mayo and cheese

In my defense it was low fat mayo and low fat cheese

SummerLightning · 16/03/2010 11:35

Last time I weighed myself (at doctors) i think I had put on about 3kg, but that was a few weeks ago. I am not weighing myself .
What's wrong with a baked potato?

SummerLightning · 16/03/2010 11:39

Oh and last time I put on about 3stone!! Definitely on target for less this time (I hope!)

katie3677 · 16/03/2010 11:43

Hideously bad night here thanks to a barkng cough that DD has picked up, probably from DS (are coughs catching?). I was up with her every hour, so am feeling decdedly jaded today. I want my gorgeous sleeping through baby back. Poor little thing is obviously feeling very rough and there is a nasty crackle in her chest so think I will get off to the docs with her.
Re carpets, we have laminate throughout the downstairs and tiles in the kitchen. It is surprisingly warm, and very easy to clean, although you can really see the dust if it hasn't been cleaned for a few days. On the stairs and landing we have a dark red carpet which desperately needs replacing. I hate the colour but it does hide a multitude of sins. I haven't got around to replacing yet as I can't decide what color to go for, with 2 kids, dog and 2 cats it gets worn very hard. I am also thinking of a stripy runner but wonder if it might make us feel a bit dizzy.
Mom, wow! Very excting and can't wait to hear the results. I am like you and continually find symptoms that aren't always really there. I'm finding it a bit strange that I am not pregnant again yet as I usually conceive very quickly, but nothing has happened in almost a year in this case. My theories are that I spend too much time with my laptop on my lap and have therefore fried my ovaries , I am still a bit unsure about #3 so my body is waiting until my brain decides, or that I am simply getting old . Que sera sera.
Still no news on the parentshouse, we have climbed a little bit but am determined not to be bullied into spending waaaay overthe odds on it. Should hear back today on our latest offer. The agent was a bit cheeky yesterday when I put the offer in, sighed and exclaimed, 'this is a bit like pulling teeth' . Well, yes, but what do you expect?
Where is Turnip with her KB gossip???
Can't remember anything further back and must geton with some work, but we are going to need another thread soon......

Rubena · 16/03/2010 11:48

Katie - tell that agent to pull their head in - impatient aren't they - i really don't like most of them!
Oh and nobody could have a laptop on their lap more than I - having said that - it did tae slightly longer this time. But then again, I'm getting old now too

Summer that's great. You are well on target for a flabby free pregnancy. Guess a baked potato isn't too bad for lunch, it's just the cheese and mayo that is plus the fact that i ate it at 1130 so I will not be able to hold out until dinner!

LadyThompson · 16/03/2010 12:17

Katie, that agent has got a real cheek. Grrr. I bet you wanted to say "But this is a negotiation and the house is overpriced" but of course, you have to keep these dickheads sweet. (Sorry to anyone related to an estate agent!) The one we had last time was a decent lady but she's been the first nice one we've had. They were a very small independent estate agents, I think it makes a difference.

I put on well over 20kg last time (at least 22) so that must be three and a half stone if not edging towards 4. Given that I don't eat sweets and puddings I think that is quite a feat I am weighing myself at home but I have opted out of being weighed at the check ups. I find it too demoralising.

katie3677 · 16/03/2010 12:40

Actually, Lady and Rubes I was a bit cheeky back. Said something along the lines of 'well it is a heck of alot of money for what it is and parents would quite like something left for their retirement if that's quite alright with you.' Hope that hasn't scuppered their chances of getting it but he really got my goat.

LadyThompson · 16/03/2010 12:44

Good for you And bottom line is he will want the sale.

EffiePerine · 16/03/2010 14:26

Hello all! Am in bed with cold and feeling achy and cross. Eye has developed startlingly black red and green patches - am fed up of sympathetic looks. Still at least I've caught up on some sleep as the boys are at the cm's.

Carpet: we have a textured pale beige thing throughout (may be cheap seagrass/coir imitation) and I loathe it. Attracts lots if dirt and impossible to keep clean. Rubes I am v interested in your carpet cleaner. I hired one with dramatic results bur in a week or so I might not havd bothered.

Gardens: I wouldn't live anywhere without one now. Such q good idea to shove children out. Plus you can sit outside on summer evenings.

Mom: v exciting, let us knw when you test!

Veggiemummy · 16/03/2010 17:11

Oh sorry your feeling crook Effie. Sounds like the Arnica has brought the bruise out quicker though, green & yellow means the blood is nearly dead and dispersing, so only a few more days.

I soooooo feel like a baked potato now, with mushrooms, and cheese and Mayo!

Lady I would have thought a cool glass of bubbly or pimms would have done the trick better than a warme drink, oh or a long island ice tea!

I had a lovely afternoon. I picked up the package, the mail lady was very nice but couldn't not charge me the tax as she is not the tax checker person. She did think it was silly though and had told me that even though I've paid it I can try to get it reimbursed by writing them a letter. Then I went to a cool second hand store next door to post office and found a pair of ski pants for DS1 for €2.85! He needs a new pair but we hadn't found anything cheaper than €70 so bonus, these are brand new too they look like they've never been worn. Then as i was waiting for AK a lady contacted me who we met at a park a few weeks ago. She has twins DS1's age and they are trying to get them to speak more English (they are Dutch ) they live near us and go to school near DS1. She asked to meet up at a park near there schools after school. She bought along an English lady from Birmingham who has lived here a few years and another friend. It was really lovely we all got on really well. Will be nice to meet up more often. This morning I was feeling a little dispondant as I don't know anyone and am missing catching up with friends and just nattering and just you know having a connection and now suddenly I've met these women who I really get on with and our kids are similar age and get on really well. Jordi loved it as all the big kids were playing with him and giving him loads of attention.

Oh and I went back to the lingerie shop and bought another two sets of discounted bra & nickers sets!

Turniphead1 · 16/03/2010 17:15

HI y'all - sorry haven't been teasing about my KB news just busy and would you beleive absolutely knackered after having my house full for 13 hours. They ran over by nearly three hours - which meant my DC arrived back to the chaos (which is fair enough - they have to be allowed back into their home ). In actual fact, KB was lovely to my 3 - and I'm sure youre like me on that, if someone is pleasant to my babies, I like them. If they are not, then God help them.

My DD1 (6) has a framed picture of Len Goodman in her bedroom (which is where KB was getting changed/allowing her (actually quite cute) dog to run riot) so when DD came home she said about the picture - and DD shyly said "I thought you were brilliant in Strictly - you and Rachel were my favourite" (which may have thrown KB given that Rachel Stevens was the following year...I suspect DD thought Lisa Snowden was in the house but fair enough...She was sweet to DS and stopped to chat to him on the stairs and admired DD2 eyes etc. I whisked them away (well they had taken over the whole house but luckily my bedroom was free and I have a tv in there - to my shame). But the last photographer didn't leave til 9 - so it was a very long day. DD1's bedroom carpet got wrecked - it's all dirty I think from either the dog's feet or the wheely case of outfits from KB. Very pertinent given our discussion of light coloured carpets!!
They did about 11 different shots all over the house (one particularly amusing 1 of KB wearing these Ree.bok trainers and a pair of stripe pants stirring a pot at my hob - looks just like me of an evening). I will post the link to the video when it appears on the Ree.bok website.

KB kindly left the two pair of brand new trainers (not my size alas so going to my sis and good friend) and also the last outfit she was wearing (it was all teeny tiny shorts and belly tops..might fit DD1..) and also rather amusingly the bra (of course it's not hers) - so DH is going to a stag next month and may bring the groom a special pressie.

All in all it was a great day. Our neighbours got a treat to see KB trotting up and down our front steps for shots - and my Nanny got her photo taken with her (most uncool!!). I would do the filming day thing again - it was a hassle - there was damage which the ad agency will pay to recify but financially it was well worth it. No Danny with her. From google I understand he is in Australia (or maybe doing his GCSEs not sure).

Sorry - very long me post but hope it was vaguely interesting.

effie and others that are poorly - hugs!

MoM - oooh exciting about possible bun cookin'. Can't wait til you can test!!

Katie - how rude of the agent. I am a fan of giving my (more or less final) offer - telling them its take it or leave it time. A bit of hardball can work. Othewise you might be back and forth forever. Sometimes these cheeky agents forget it is very much a buyers market.

LadyT a natural type flooring may be nice just make sure it's not too scratchy.

DD1's parent teacher meeting tonight. I am terrible, I just can't warm to her teacher. She is so young and just a bit clueless. I loved her last teacher so much but DD likes this one so she must be OK I guess. Even though she didn't know what quoits were. But then, neither did my DH.

I was quite [sad} about Kate W and Sam. I need to get a life perhaps??

Turniphead1 · 16/03/2010 17:19

X posted with you Veg. So glad you have met some nice women. But you are so lovely and sociable it won't be long til you build up a great network of chums.

We are getting to the end of the thread folks...

LadyThompson · 16/03/2010 17:57

Loved the KB lowdown. Perfect! As for daffy teachers, I know I am going to be rather exacting about DD's in the future. A clueless teacher would drive me nutty, but what can one do about it? (Nothing, I suspect!) Hope the parent teacher meeting goes ok though.

Kate and Sam...hmmm, wonder what's behind it?

Effie, please do get well soon. You really are in the wars at the mo.

Glad you've found some pals, Veggie. That's nice.

The latest food to inspire hysteria in DD is a quail's egg. Well, I can't say I am not offering her a range of foods.

Rubena · 16/03/2010 18:03

Turnip, thanks for the update - sounds like it was interesting (and tiring) will lookforward to the pictures of her cooking in your kitchen

Kayz - if you are lurking. You are officially the biggest facebook user ever! but more worrying though to me is that is you seem over-the-top happy - almost like you're trying to convince yourself you are better than fine. I hope you are ok, as even if your decision is what you both want, it wouldn't be normal for it not to affect you at all.

Effie sorry about your eye and the cold.

Where's Urbane and Kiwi?? did Kiwi go away on hols?

daisydora · 16/03/2010 18:19

Veggie, so glad you have met some lovely women over there. I bet your fab to be around wish I lived near by

Turnip, sounds like the KB experience as all good. If not a little manic in places.

effie sorry to hear you are under the weather. Hope you pick up soon. I have to confess actually that I was stalking checking out your FB profile the other day and you where at Liverpool Uni when I was. Who knows we may have walked past ach other

Kayz if your lurking hope you are okay. I agree with Rubs, you've been on FB loads but not on here. Please pop on and let us know you are okay?

I got home to work today to a huge apology from DH for his recent crap behaviour. He seemed genuinely sorry and even said he wouldn't have blamed me if I had walked out. Anyway, lets hope he has turned a corner. It is still very early days after his mum and understandably he is still hugely affected by it. At least he sees this now...I think!

Rubena · 16/03/2010 18:28

read this

Aubergines · 16/03/2010 18:30

Am loving the KB gossip Turnip. She sounds much nicer than I would have expected. Good on her. Will the Ad Agency really give you a new carpet plus the fee? If so the carpet damage is actually a bonus!

MoM - how exciting. Can't wait for you to test. Oh, and I loved your article, very wittily observed.

WG - sorry about your back. I swear by the chiropractor when mine goes. A recent study by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence actually showed chirorpractors and osteopaths were the most effective treatment for back pain so they should not be regarded as "woo".

I'm amused by all the pregnancy weight chat. I gained 5 stone with DD1!!!!! Partly that was due to pre-eclampsia causing water retention but still. With DD2 I was much smaller and neater and gained 2.5 stone (remember she weighed over 10lbs).

Veggie - your DS2 sounds so gorgeous at the mo with his on the spot running and roaring and penis puppetry. I love reading your posts about him.

Iam going to try and get some exclusive Kate and Sam goss for you. My oldest friend (it's CD LadyT) used to do PR for Sam and she told me this was on the cards last year. She is cooking me dinner tomorrow so I hope to press her for all the details.

daisydora · 16/03/2010 18:37

Honestly MN at its best....

spotofcheerfulness · 16/03/2010 19:05

How about Nicey Nicey Nicey McNicey?

katie3677 · 16/03/2010 19:09

Miserable cow, let's see if we can come up with a REALLY offensive title this time

Veggiemummy · 16/03/2010 19:12

Gosh some people really have too much time on their hands and lead quite sad little lives. Anyhoo couldn't help myself I had to say something but I kept it polite. I was going to say the lovely lady who came up with the title is not British so not used to the bizarre offence some British take, bur realised that's bit true as mist Brits I know love rude words and also didn't want to give away information about Mom.

How cool that our thread pops up to the top so much we are so active!

LadyThompson · 16/03/2010 19:18

It never ceases to amaze me how utterly SOUR people can be on here. The postnatal threads are sort of tucked away, they aren't bothering anyone. But I think a nice ironic title for our new one in the manner of Spot's suggestion would amuse me.

Oh, Aubi, do get the goss. We used to deal with one of Sam's exes at work (not the actress, one from long ago with whom he is till friends). She was quite mousey. I would imagine KW is a piece of work but really I think Hollywood is bad for marriages and all actresses are nutty anyway

Daisy, that is really good about your DH. It's bound to be one step forward, one step back for a while. Glad you feel better.
