Zulu I personally would get a check. They do say anything abnormal should be checked up on.

Ear plugs...now why didn't I think of that?

kingbeat23 · 11/01/2010 10:23

Morning all,

Yeah pretty disastrous sleep here too Bebe. Refused afternoon nap. Went to bed at 6pm, woke at 8pm and forced to bed at 1.30 am after lots of cuddles, cajouling and rocking....eventually plumped for lights dimmed and the snooker on, which she proceeded to watch and try and catch the balls!! Sometimes I wonder if I have a child or a cat!

No work for me today, she still has a poorly tummy and I dont want to go for them to call me to get her and will famously be known as the mum who created a tummy bug for 50 children on her 1st day there. Having said that, I need to get back to work and it isn't a good look when I have to call in on my 1st day and say I cant go for childcare issues. Thank goodness I have an understanding boss, but even he will have his patience level...

Told DP that in future he will have to take time off work too if she is ill and we are both working....not the most fantastic response..."what do you want me to do about it"..call work and tell the same thign that I did, you cant go because your DD is ill and you have to look after her..."why"...because it is a partnership and thats the way things work..disgruntled look.. what a twat!

Soooooooo....other than that and being pissed off (again) and wondering if i really should book a driving lesson in the snow, I am getting out of the house tonight for my BFs birthday dinner and HE is looking after her...ah blessed relief!

Hope youre all well and TT big love to you and your family.

TwilightTurtle · 11/01/2010 10:32

Zulu I'd probably go to the docs and just get AF checked out. Sounds a bit extreme to me.

And you're not a bad mum for earplugs and sleep - we do what we have to in order to survive.

Poor Orbit is streaming with cold: eyes, nose, mouth all streaming various fluids, and coughing like an old man. He's incredibly miserable, poor lamb.

mrsg just go slow on uncleared roads and you'll be fine. afraid i know nothing about teeth enamel.

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 10:34

King sounds similar will send half a bar

TwilightTurtle · 11/01/2010 10:35

oh yes and mrsg - don't use brakes on snow/ice. Go slow and keep in low gear so you don't need to use them.

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 10:47

Or when you do use them, don't punch them down, ease them down and let up if you fell yourself slipping (likewise with gas pedal)

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 10:52

My AIBU
try that again

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 10:58

Turtle did your mother like the ipod?

Found out my g-ma has broken her hip (again) the opposite to the one that has just been replaced at Thanksgiving. The doctors are upset because 'she's in here too often' but the thing is you cannot tell g-ma to stop doing anything. She's a stubborn crotchitty woman that will do 'what I damn well please when I damn well please' She's already in the best nursing home available. The next step would be restraining her, which obviously is just not possible (no matter how much one sometimes would really want to)

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 10:59

right
moo down for nap=mom down for nap

talk to you all later
x

ZuluWarrior · 11/01/2010 11:38

Does anyone else have a baby that does nothing but shriek at the moment? I thought they were meant to grow out of this phase by, say, 6 months. At the moment BW shrieks through: bathtime, bedtime, changing, dressing, like he is being murdered. I've just told him I'm sick of him and put him in his playpen in another room. .

Guimauve · 11/01/2010 11:45

Oh, Bebe, your poor GM, is she okay? You would think two broken hips would be enough to get anyone to slow down. DOes she do what she damn well pleases because she wants to be independent, or does she not actually realise what she's doing? DH's grandma spiralled into dementia when her daughter (DH's Mum) died, and she couldn't be slowed down either. She would insist on trying to cook, garden, walk into the village etc, and kept being found having fallen Amazingly I don't think she ever broke anything though.

Re: the cot chomping - you can buy plastic edging that is sort of moulded on by heating it with a hairdryer. It might be possible to get something like that at Wickes or Homebase that will fit the end of the cot? Or just duct tape

King - Grrrr at your DP. Some men just assume that sick kids = women's work. Unfortunately I bet many employers think the same. If H ever has to go home from nursery sick, it will have t be DH that gets him, as I can't drive!

MrsG - yes, I'm very lucky on the lie-in front. I get 2-3 hours most weekends. I wake DH up once H is fully awake and champing to get out of bed, and he takes him off for nappy, breakfast, play and a snooze.
I'm sure I've read something on here about tooth enamel problems, and how it can be repaired??? But I really can't recall what exactly I was reading.

Zulu - deffo doctors. Always best to check!

Hugo has been eyeing up something from his playmat and trying to get it - I've just realised that it's Nigella Lawson he wants, offering herself and a plate of roasties from the cover of her Christmas book!

kingbeat23 · 11/01/2010 11:54

Zulu - Yes, Iris screams blue bloody murder at...face wiping, nappy changing, clothes dressing (on and off) and last night she discovered a whole new kind of shreek. One that sounded like I was ripping her arms off, all because I put her in her bouncy chair (not strapped in) or in her activity thingy...I was fed up with her head butting the tv trying to catch the snooker balls! My Sister has a DD who is 1.1 and she does EXACTLY the same thing grr!

gingersarah · 11/01/2010 13:11

Bicnod - good luck with the childminders. When are you going back to work? I feel your pain - V is having 2 days at the childminders this week and then I am back at work next week. I am supposed to be out sorting out some clothes while DP minds her today but I am finding it hard to focus and get going - it is so strange not to have her with me all the time. Never mind, we will get used to it and I am sure you will find a lovely childminder.

Hope all are well and no one is too snowbound.

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 14:12

2 hour nap for her..next time remind me to turn off phones and put sign on the front door...hotel rooms are bliss for that

ZuluWarrior · 11/01/2010 14:38

Yay for 2 hour naps! They always happen when you've decided it isn't worth going to bed I find.

Ginger how are you feeling about going back to work?

Thanks for making me feel less alone King!

Am supposed to be writing Christmas thankyou letters while the baby sleeps. The new fireguard has just arrived - no more soot covered baby - hurrah!

Feierabend · 11/01/2010 17:11

Hello all

Been busy with looking at houses online, it's becoming an unhealthy obsession. We are in NO hurry to move you understand, but I just can't stop looking and thinking I'll find the one. Am slowly going mad.

Twilight, good luck and all the best to your mum.

Sorry to hear about bad nights. Last night it was DD1 who woke us up twice with random requests ('I need some toilet paper because I have poo poo on my hands' - of course she didn't) Will these children ever learn to sleep?

Not much else to report really, hope you're all well or at least getting better!

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 17:29

Feira I started looking at houses the other day and nearly went insane myself... problem with us is where to live. DH basically works M4 corridor. We want to live in the countryside and really want to live in Wales. Mountain biking near by is a must, out the back door is preferable. Need good primary school for the future. A Garage. And at least 3 bedrooms, preferably 4.

Feierabend · 11/01/2010 18:05

Yes we're looking for somewhere to stay for the next 15 years or so and who knows what we'll need or want then? I have been looking into schools, and although I love where we are right now it might be an extremely boring place for teenage girls. And then of course house prices are still high around here... and we do need three double bedrooms really rather than 2 double and a single, I think. And a proper garden. And there are simply not many properties on the market right now, although things might pick up over the spring and summer.

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 18:27

I imagine things will start looking up when the weather warms and things seem better with the economy. When looking at schools do you find it as difficult as I do? I just have no idea what all these levels are and what it'll mean for Moo and future babe

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 19:15

should I drop the night feed? or strap Moo down

Feierabend · 11/01/2010 19:32

Well I just look at the Ofsted reports really, and sometimes at the school's website just to get a feel for it. Shockingly, the junior school in my village which I thought was really good has only got a 'satisfactory' in almost all areas...but that was nearly 3 years ago so they may well have improved. I just don't know, what's more important, to have a nice big house and be in a not so great area with bad public transport links, or to have a small house with a small garden in a really good location? To be outside London with easy access to lovely parks, woods, kid's play areas or to be further in and get stuck in traffic every time you want to take the kids somewhere in the car? To stay where we are because we know the people around here are lovely and DD1 has friends here and the nursery is great and the village has such a lovely feel to it, or to move and start again from scratch somewhere that the girls might enjoy more when they are older because it's a bit more urban and better connected?

Someone please come and answer all these questions for me

bebemoohatessnot · 11/01/2010 19:37

Ah yes... I know that whirlwind of questions which cause confusion and uncertainty. No right answers because you cannot see the future...

Feierabend · 11/01/2010 19:49

I know I feel under such pressure to find the right house that everyone will be happy in for the next 20 years... it's silly really and probably impossible

Wriggly and Puzzle, you'll have to tell me about where you live a bit because we're extending our search that way after all... meet up with the girls?

dawntigga · 11/01/2010 20:16
