Can always recommend LG

TwilightTurtle · 21/01/2010 12:55

oh my god the expensive Hotpoint Aqualtis has self dosing tanks - you fill it up with 6 litres of washing liquid and 4 of softener, and then it doses the washing itself according to the programme.

So is that a really good thing, or a gimmick, do we think?

WrigglyGiggly · 21/01/2010 13:04

OK Fei - any Friday in Feb then? Will throw it to Puzzle and see when she and her DDs could do.

TT that self dosing sounds phenomenal. We have the Miele Novotronic, which was recommended by Which when we were looking this time last year. It is very good but was v. expensive. But came with an 5 year on-site mending guarantee which is handy as it is upstairs and would be nigh on impossible to get out of the house ever again. It does a great job too. I wash nappies remember so it gets used A LOT. I am also confident enough of it's knitwear cycle to put cashmere in.

TwilightTurtle · 21/01/2010 13:17

have just worked out childcare fees for both children

WrigglyGiggly · 21/01/2010 13:29

It would cost me around £120 a day (and that's the cheapest option).

I am going to be a SAHM for a wee while longer.

ZuluWarrior · 21/01/2010 14:00

Tigga I always let BW cry himself to sleep . Sometimes takes 1 min, sometimes 10! I always go outside and hang out washing/feed chickens and by the time I'm in it's usually over.

I don't like coffee but drink strong tea with abandon while breastfeeding. And am probably a bit to blase about wine too .

TT I'm just off to log into my which account to see if I can remember my password, then I'll facebook you it if that's ok.

I have a bosch maxx and it's been brilliant. Could probably manage a double duvet but not kingsize.

WG I wish I could come to your house for lunch! Anyone have any experience of buggies on the tube? I'll be going from Liverpool St to Waterloo next month. I presume it'll be fine as long as I avoid rush hour...

I haven't seen my wee man since yesterday morning . Night shifts and CM. Will see him tomorrow though and I've been for a run with dogs, had a sleep and watched some telly. Bliss

ZuluWarrior · 21/01/2010 14:08

Sorry TT, I've tried and tried but I can't remember which of the numerous username/password combinations I've used for which...

Guimauve · 21/01/2010 16:39

We have locomotion! We have backwards crawling!!

OP posts:
TwilightTurtle · 21/01/2010 16:58

Don't worry ZW, thanks for trying!

I would recommend buses in London instead of tubes - they all have buggy spaces and no stairs. They often don't take much longer than the tube, especially when you factor in going up and down in slow boring lifts.

And cheaper!

TwilightTurtle · 21/01/2010 17:01

Hooray for backwards crawling!

WrigglyGiggly · 21/01/2010 17:36

Yay for backwards crawling.

ZW - I think you will be OK. My top tip for that journey would be to change at Westminster rather than Embankment.

Wesminster is pretty state of the art and the Jubilee line, being the most recently built Underground line conforms best to disability legislation - and if a wheelchair can do it, it is pretty easy with a pram.

Or you could catch a number 26 bus.

Have a look at TfLs Journey Planner for more advice.

(I'm boring myself now. I'll go away. In a former life I was editor of a magazine about disability transport)

dawntigga · 21/01/2010 17:41

We have snot but no crawling - does that count?

He's not even trying, I worry he'll be like this at school

Feierabend · 21/01/2010 19:04

Gaaaaah

DD1 can wind me up SO much, bedtimes are starting to become a battle now. Is this normal at 3 years old?

I guess it probably is...?

Bicnod · 21/01/2010 19:10

O is also a snotty babba. Bleurgh. Still taking him swimming tomorrow though - he's got to learn to man up

Yay for backwards crawling - O can't do that yet but he can stand holding onto his toy box. Yes, I know people, my baby is clearly destined to be a great athlete.

I have just demolished half a packet of cheddars (not even the mini ones) and am working my way through a bowl full of weetabix. I am such a pork pie.

kingbeat23 · 21/01/2010 21:00

You have asked the right person about traveling in london!! Liverpool St to Waterloo is definately done by bus...there are loads and up down on the escalators are actually a breeze compared to the stairs on the tube lines although agree on the jubilee line!! 26 does indeed go from a to b!!

Soooooooooooooooo.......have missed out loads on whats happening, but have been having a lurk here and there.

Am back at work and have finally managed to put in 2 whole days now. 1st week was scuppered by SILs pass-on from the d & v so couldnt go on the monday and missed out on the settling days, after that the thursday was a bit of a nightmare as she went ballistic by 2.30pm. The next day i left early to make sure she was ok.

This week however, has been completely different. DP is on late shift so has been forced to take her to nursery (with written instructions of how to get there, what to do, what to say to the staff - how many kids do i have??!! ), have managed 2 whole days, have been offered a flat via the council bidding scheme.

It's 2 bed and on a different part of Hackney that I am from so is a bit out of my comfort zone. Am back on the treadmill of looking for nursery's and am currently looking at CM's. Have to decide by monday morning by the latest and I think im pretty much assured that Im going to take it. It might mean a longer journey to work, but, as i love it there, im quite prepared to wait for one nearer either to my work or to my new flat...so much to do!!!

argh!!!!!!!!!!! if i move ill only have 28 days to organise everything and then in that 28 days to fit the carpets, organise movers, change suppliers and all the rest of the bollox that goes with a move......please tell me it can be done...please!

WrigglyGiggly · 22/01/2010 08:30

Of course it can be done kingbeat. You'll be fine. Exciting about the flat.

Fei - lots of things are a battle at the moment. DD has days where she is Very Disobedient Indeed. I regularly reach boiling point.

Feierabend · 22/01/2010 09:52

Please, does someone know where the mute button is on my DD1?

Feierabend · 22/01/2010 09:54

Oh - last night DD1 wanted her whiskers dried after she had cried. What she meant was that I should dry her eyelashes

WrigglyGiggly · 22/01/2010 09:59

That is very cute Fei.

I'm still searching for the Off button. Or at least a pause button. The instruction manual suggests there is one marked 'Zzzz' but I think my model is faulty. I can't find 'Zzzz'anywhere.

bebemoohatessnot · 22/01/2010 12:18

checking in will catch up with everything later hopefully.

x
hope you're all well

AuldAlliance · 22/01/2010 14:52

oh. I posted a long message this morning, full of various good wishes for you all, and it is not here.

Hope everyone is doing OK.

Will try and get back on later, but have just accepted a translation for Mon, on top of all the rest, so it will have to be a quick peep.

Fei, thanks for your Tripp Trapp input.
I had posted a link to my thread in my dud post this morning on here, so wasn't surprised when you turned up, but have now realised why you were surprised to see it was me asking the daft question!

PuzzleRocks · 22/01/2010 19:58

Good evening

We have ordered bunkbeds. They are being delivered at the end of Feb which means in 5 weeks DH and I will have the bed to ourselves for the first time in 10 months.

Bicnod - Fab news about your childminder. She sounds ace.

Fei - Do tell more about DD1's television adventure. What was it for?

Frekkles - No idea lovely, i'm useless at leaving my two. I think I probably need to start letting go a bit and taking up my Mum's offers. I hope you have a bloody good time and really let your hair down. They are not tiny anymore and if H is with someone he knows and loves i'm sure he will be absolutely fine.

at everyone's sexy washing machines.
What have I become? I used to be a hellraiser.

King - Good luck with the move.

Fei - DD's whiskers. How adorable.

AuldAlliance · 22/01/2010 21:28

Yes, Fei, do tell us about the TV filming...

Puzzle, are you going to put Holly in the bunk?
DS1 and A are to share a room, at DS1's request. I fear A may be in our room for ages yet, as I don't want to put them together till he is sleeping through. I'll be interested to hear how it works out for you...

DH is working late again. Maybe home by 11, but as it is 10:36, I doubt it.
Off to bed once I have put laundry on.

Have finished the translation. It's a description for hikers of the trail down from this belvedere to the village below in the riverbed.
It has really, really brought home to me how much I miss Réunion.

TwilightTurtle · 22/01/2010 21:49

Oh poor Auld - must be sad, Reunion sounds lovely. And poor you for being on your lonesome tonight. Have a piece of popcorn.

Puzzle, bunk beds - exciting! Who's going on top?

So I am preparing myself for an interesting conversation with the nursery on Monday - we have been overpaying our fees over my mat leave as the childcare vouchers exceed the fees, and building up a nice credit for when I go back to work and we are hit with two sets of fees. So I looked at the latest statement they've given me, and they've lost about £600 of our credit ! Not looking forward to that conversation, they're not brilliant at admin and the owners have a reputation for being a bit tricky. Hope the nursery manager and I can sort it out between us.

Also concerned because my boss wants to meet up next week and have a chat about my flexible working proposal, and has hinted darkly about redundancies. Just when we've decided to move into a house we can't really afford. Fingers crossed.

Feierabend · 23/01/2010 08:47

Good morning.

A good friend of mine is a TV journalist and she does little pieces for a popular science programme. This one was about why fabric looks darker when it's wet, so DD1 was filmed eating spaghetti with a tomato sauce and was supposed to spill it all over her t-shirt (she didn't, we kept asking her to spill it but she's such a tidy eater, she just smiled and shook her head ). The t-shirt then went in the wash, then we got it out and compared it to the same, dry t-shirt. Then there was lots of filming of my putting the clothes on our laundry horse, and DD1 dancing around the laundry horse. The best thing about it all was that the cameraman had brought a 600W lamp and our house was so bright, my seasonal depression started to lift

Anyway it was fun, but it will be a while still until my friend has cut the story and there is a version I can see. And god knows when it will be broadcast.

We're going to look at 2 houses today, I love viewings!
