Well they're certainly organic - at least they are round this area dahling

Am a bit scared about large house that we can't afford. DP is making soothing noises, but he intends not to even view it until we move in .

I can't take the stress of it, might have to lie down with some smelling salts.

dawntigga · 20/01/2010 17:11

Have just let The Cub cry himself to sleep as am at my wits end. If he doesn't sleep now he will not sleep tonight and I'm full of snot so I really need to sleep tonight. Only took 5 minutes but I feel bloody awful.

bronze · 20/01/2010 17:30

I'm off to view a place on friday
it looks fab but its sealed bids mid feb and we dont have a buyer yet

tigga he'll be fine

TwilightTurtle · 20/01/2010 17:59

Tigga Boff has already established that as long as the Cub is not in the wheelie bin then you're doing fine

Honestly, he will be ok and he might even be more co-operative about sleep next time.

I know how you feel though.

Bicnod · 20/01/2010 20:18

Oh Tigga you poor thing - listening to your wee one crying for any length of time is heart-wrenching. He will be ok though and fingers crossed it means you'll get some sleep tonight. As TT says, as long as the Cub isn't participating in the wheelie bin extravaganza you are ok x

TT LOL at 'DP is making soothing noises'

Bronze hope the viewing goes well on Friday

Still no AF here. Come on AF, come on come on come on pleeeeeeeeeeeease

Right. Off to watch some more 24

BoffinMum · 20/01/2010 21:14

Tigga, I know it's hard, but no child ever died because an exhausted mum tucked them up in their cot for a nice nap whether they liked it or not. You're in charge, it's your house, and if you want to put him in the cot for a bit for his own good then he'll just have to make the best of it. If the crying gets to you and you want to remain strong, I find a nice cuppa tea downstairs with the telly on loud usually helps. I haven't lost one in 22 years doing it this way.

dawntigga · 21/01/2010 07:21

Last night was unbelievable, The Cub decided that although he was VERY tired he wasn't going to sleep. So I went to bed and Mr Tigga stayed up and played with him. He fought sleep until 2300! Then sleep one and he went to bed He's still asleep now and hasn't woken up once! He's made attempts to cry etc but gone straight back to sleep.

TwilightTurtle · 21/01/2010 07:45

Wow. What is it with these babies fighting sleep? I LOVE sleep. I'd do it all day if I could. Hope the Cub sleeps well for you today/tonight Tigga.

Orbit woke at 8.30, 10pm, midnight, 3.30am and 7am. This is not good. Am racking my brains for what's going on, because he'll have a feed but then cry and cry for ages before going back to sleep. Possibilities? I'm thinking either hungry and not enough milk left in boobs, or teeth hurting, or tummy hurting.

He seems to want to carry on sucking long after the milk is finished, don't know if this means his teeth are hurting and it soothes them, or that he's still hungry.

I think I'm going to start him on bottles during the day this week - he doesn't feed enough in the day especially if we're out and about as he's too distracted and interested in the world. We'll see if bottles help. He's got to switch before March anyway as he'll start nursery, so might as well make it now. I'll still do morning and evening and nighttime.

Feierabend · 21/01/2010 08:20

Good morning. TT I am sure you've said before but does he have a dummy? If it's just the sucking he wants, maybe that would help? Although I am not usually a fan of dummies and they never worked for my girls.

Can't believe your DH doesn't even want to look at the house before moving in! My DH wouldn't let me do any viewings on my own. So what are you going to do with the 5 bedrooms? Sleep in a different one every night?

Hazel's current favourite game is to destroy Lego towers. She's at it as we speak. There's snot everywhere too - please can you all keep your fingers crossed that she won't get croup this time round? Apparently some children get it with every cold .

DD1 woke up in the middle of the night, we tucked her back in, then she started complaining that we wouldn't read her a bedtime story it was about 3am!

Bicnod forgot to say, glad you've found a childminder!

WrigglyGiggly · 21/01/2010 08:42

Morning - snot everywhere here too.

LOL @ Boff not having lost one in 22 years.

One large pot of freshly brewed coffee here if anyone feels the need.

yawn.

WrigglyGiggly · 21/01/2010 08:44

Fei - been meaning to say - I promised to organise some sort of get together with our DD1s. Lunch at my place one Friday?

Any good dates? And need to check with Puzzle too.

bronze · 21/01/2010 09:32

TT- you can borrow a couple of kids if you want to fill the rooms

dawntigga · 21/01/2010 09:33

Wriggles can't drink full fat coffee am still bf'ing.

bronze · 21/01/2010 11:07

? I drink coffee and I'm still bfeeding

just make sure I dont have one after an hour before his bed time if that makes any sense

And will people stop changing names please because I have to look up who everyone is everytime

WrigglyGiggly · 21/01/2010 11:32

I'm still bf too. But I can't get up and out in the morning without a good strong coffee. Particularly when DD is up to her insomniac pranks again.

But I only drink it in the morning.

Baby doesn't seem too fussed.

Bronze - I was formerly LuLuBai.

Not sure about current name actually. Feels a bit too ditzy for discussing serious matters. Still feeling peeved at DH for stealing my name for his WOW character.

dawntigga · 21/01/2010 11:53

It's not baby hyperness that stops me, rather that caffiene inhibits the absorbtion of iron, as he was early and technically premie I don't take caffiene.

mrsgboring · 21/01/2010 12:19

Morning all oops make that afternoon

Our utility room is done. The builders have left and we've been painting like nutters after the boys are in bed. Slow progress.

I don't drink coffee either. I gave it up when TTC the first time because a colleague went off coffee when she got pregnant and everyone guessed she was up the duff. To stop the same thing happening to me, I made a big song and dance about giving it up to try to cure my migraines and buggerit it actually worked more or less.

We have a female plumber - she is great and really nice to the kids, remembers their names etc. But our male gasman is equally fab. Without the name-remembering skills though.

I'm with Fei don't fancy plumbing as it's too wet and mucky (also plastering same reasons) but electricianing might be okay.

WrigglyGiggly · 21/01/2010 12:37

Lovely saying bye-bye to builders isn't it MrsG.

It's the poo that puts me off plumbing. What with the kids, the cat (and occasionally DH) I feel I deal with enough of the stuff.

Plastering could be good. Wet and mucky is fine provided it's not stinky. Definitely not carpentry though. I've never met a carpenter with all 10 fingers.

TwilightTurtle · 21/01/2010 12:45

Does anyone have a Which account I can cheekily borrow?! Need to decide on a washing machine for new house, and wanted to check out Which tests on the one I like the look of.

I know, it's very cheeky, but £9.75 a month to subscribe to Which! And I did the £1 month's trial a few months ago, so can't do it again, sadly.

Feierabend · 21/01/2010 12:45

Wriggly - can't do next Friday but any Friday after that. Lunch sounds lovely, thanks.

Spring has sprung! Going to take H for a walk to see if we can find some snowdrops but I guess it's too early, what with all the snow we've had.

I didn't know that about coffee and iron absorption, it must apply to tea too? What about decaf, or does that not make a difference?

TwilightTurtle · 21/01/2010 12:47

Or does anyone have a Hotpoint Aqualtis and can rate it for me?

Feierabend · 21/01/2010 12:47

TT I can heartily recommend the Bosch Maxx. It takes big loads, is straightforward to use, no fancy stuff you don't need, and good value. I had it in Germany and bought the same one here because I loved it so much.

My granddad was a carpenter and he only had 8 1/2 fingers.

TwilightTurtle · 21/01/2010 12:53

Oh thanks Feier! I was looking at that Bosch, but thought I might go for the Hotpoint as it takes 9kg rather than 7kg. But the Bosch did look good.

Can you wash a double duvet in the Bosch?

bronze · 21/01/2010 12:53

Thats really odd tigga as when I had dd we were positively encouraged to have caffiene. In fact she was given caffiene in NICU. She was also given iron as well though
