Have parked her in a middle of a pile of lego pieces

She's worked out how to pull herself up to sitting holding on to a chair now, and managed to pull herself up to standing yesterday for the first time. Accidents, here we come!

frekkles · 19/01/2010 20:03

hey hey ladies, I just bumped into boff, bleu and feiera in the allergies forum, and thought to myself that I should come and say hey!

I'm fine and dandy and, so's the young un, having just recovered from a dose of bronchialitis. We're good. I'm leaving him over night for the first time on Saturday to go to a gig and party in Glasgow and I'm shitting myself! ANy advice?

Much love ladies, hope you're all well xxx

dawntigga · 19/01/2010 20:08

I hate having snot. Normal drivel will now resume.

ZuluWarrior · 19/01/2010 20:19

TT you're sounding much more positive. I'm glad. But how stressful is your life? And you thought you'd buy a house too because that'd be relaxing?

Bicnod yay for the CM. You obviously have good feelings about her because you're sounding very upbeat about the whole thing. Your first CM post without sad faces on it!

Feiera, when you're famous I shall say I knew you once, when your kids were small. In fact, I may bend it and say I was your best friend . BW is sporting 2 lovely head bruises from his recent discovery that he can pull himself almost to standing. i can only assume it gets worse after this .

Hi Frekkles - not sure I've met you properly yet. I live just up the road from you (well, Perthshire - kind of up the road!). Advice about leaving the wee one overnight - give him a kiss, strict instructions for the babysitter then get out and go get pished! You're worth it and he'll be fine.

Hi Tiggs. Get well soon.

My son is officially the thug of his peer group. He rampaged round rhymetime poking eyes and grabbing arms, and made all my friends' babies cry . He loved every minute

BoffinMum · 19/01/2010 22:43

TT, I do that stuff and I don't have my mum in hospital. Seriously, it's parenthood. But if you find yourself putting him in the wheelie bin then ring perhaps one of us first

Frekkles, just have a beer and try not to think about him too much, I reckon. BTW that celery thing sounded interesting.

Bicnod · 20/01/2010 07:36

Hmmm. So I take it from that post, Boff, that its not considered acceptable parenting to pop your baby in the wheelie bin every now and again? Oops

TwilightTurtle · 20/01/2010 07:38

God, he nearly went in the wheelie bin last night. NOT a good night.

I actually got to the point where I just put him in his cot and stuffed my head under my pillow, after the second time he'd woken me 20 minutes after I'd gone to sleep

Poor DP had to deal with him.

WrigglyGiggly · 20/01/2010 07:50

Celery?

Frekkles - I practically never go out. I am useless at the actual leaving bit but I always find that the moment I've gone it's fine.

I have a fab time, usually drink more than I intended to and thoroughly enjoy it.

TT - hope you are hanging in there?

Bicnod - so pleased about your CM.

Fei - I look forward to seeing you on the next series of Strictly I'm A Dancing Celebrity, Come Get Me Outta Here.

WrigglyGiggly · 20/01/2010 07:54

oh x posts - well if there are lots of other kids in the wheelie bin is that ok? practically a party?

Mine are both teetering on the brink of being banished to the bin

TwilightTurtle · 20/01/2010 08:15

Gah, it's bloody snowing again

I think if everyone else's children are in the wheelie bin it would be positively cruel not to put ours in there.....

Bicnod · 20/01/2010 08:31

LOL at wheelie bin parties

I think its supposed to snow here as well...

Zulu - thanks for pointing out it was the first time I'd written about CM without sad faces - you're right, that must mean I'm feeling much better about it

Frekkles - no advice here. DH and I are supposed to be going out together for the first time since our disastrous attempt several months ago on Sunday night. I'm really dreading looking forward to it.

Tigs - boo to snot.

Feierabend · 20/01/2010 11:43

Hmmm. Boss just rang to say they are doing pay cuts. This might mean I end up paying more for childcare than I'll actually take home.

ZuluWarrior · 20/01/2010 11:47

Grrr Feier. I often wonder why anyone bothers going back to work with more than one child. It doesn't seem worth it sometimes - how can anyone afford it? What do you think you'll do?

bronze · 20/01/2010 12:43

Zulu - alot dont
I could hardly afford to go back with one child it just wasnt worth the stress for the pittance. Its one of the reasons we've had ours close together so I can go back to work sooner after

ZuluWarrior · 20/01/2010 12:46

It's unbelievable. I'm lucky in that I earn more than average so even with 2 kids I'll make more working part time than their childcare costs. I'm also the higher earner so if anyone gave up work it'd be DH.

But even if there was a couple of hundred pounds difference each month I imagine I wouldn't do it for the hassle. What is the world coming to?

When do you plan on going back Bronze? When they're all at school? And do you do something that'd be ok to get back into. I'm sure you've mentioned what you do before .

bronze · 20/01/2010 13:33

I don't do anything. Probably stacking shelves. I was 21 when I got pregnant with ds1 so not much of a career before just office admin in small companies. A catch me with no qualifications and no experience. Dh has said that as hes used to supporting me he'll be happy to carry on when they're all at school while I get some qualifications but am still unsure what I want to do. Tempted to use that time to learn to drive and learn to plaster.

bronze · 20/01/2010 13:34

I could also learn to place a few commas in my sentences.

ZuluWarrior · 20/01/2010 13:45

However, you have produced and raised his 4 beautiful but lively and exhausting children! Work enough if you ask me .

I always think that an apprenticeship in a trade would be the way to go - plumbers and brickies seem to be doing ok at the moment - at least round here! Unfortunately they only seem available to school leavers..

Commas are overrated

You can tell I'm in the house and the baby's at the childminder by the amount of time I'm on here. Off to work soon .

TwilightTurtle · 20/01/2010 14:19

Plastering and plumbing both BIG money spinners - and you can choose your hours, so work round school hours.

Female plumbers few and far between but you could make it a selling point - appeal to lone women who don't want strange men in their house!

dawntigga · 20/01/2010 14:20

I have worked out that after bills etc my disposable income is 37.25 per month - so worth going back for!

IsGoingToRecklesslyBlowHerDisposableIncomeEveryMonthTiggaxx

ZuluWarrior · 20/01/2010 15:13

Woohoo Tigga!! Party round your house?

ZuluWarrior · 20/01/2010 15:14

And I would totally employ a female plumber over a male one. Totally sick of being made to feel like a stupid little girl

Feierabend · 20/01/2010 15:56

Also if you were a plumber you could renovate your own house. I'd personally want to be an electrician though, don't like dealing with other people's poo pipes

Okay so have done some spreadsheets and I will take some pocket money home after buying my train ticket - but then blow it all on bought lunches? I'd better get myself some tupperware.

bronze · 20/01/2010 16:45

I quite like the idea of getting plastered for living

BoffinMum · 20/01/2010 17:06

Do we put the kids in the black bin or the green bin? Are they toxic waste or recyclable, I wonder?
