Good morning all
I have just been out on my own to but DH s birthday presant. On the tube with no kids. I was just slightly excited. How sad am I ?
Happy Birthday Martha
JKS I second what filly said. Sod the housework and keep dancing
Glad your better Simpson. Do you keep going at looking at your new bathroom ? I know I would. We have taken the changing table down in our bathroom and I keep going in to look at all the space. Not that our bathroom is particularly large.
DH put the boys to bed last night. George in his new bed with his rail on and in his Grobag. Had to go in a couple of times to quieten them. Popped in about 9pm . Saw Edward fast asleep in his bed. David fast asleep in his bed. No George looked all round the room found him in the round and round chair ( Ikea fans will know what I mean) fast asleep. DH picked him up and put him in his bed . Little sod

Hi everyone,

willsurivivethis... love the name change, positivity leads the way. I fancy a name change but cant think what.

Have been trying to study in the libray today but just cant concentrate, a zillion things going through my mind.

  1. came on this morning so no baby this month. May now have to wait till summer to start trying as am tryng not to interupt studyiung too much and have just found out BIL is likely to get mrried sometime this year so would rather not be preg.
  1. although not at work today, have thoroughly had enough of being a working parent. i thought it was phase and i was just fed up but i normally just change jobs but dont even want that now, just dont want to work anymore. I actually want to stay at home take E out of nursery and cook and clean and keep my study going part time.

DS1 is starting proper school in Sept and I suddenly cannot stand the thought of not taking him and picking him up at the end of the school day and not beng there all the time, I never used to feel this way, but it is more and more frequent as those of you on FB can prob tell from my statuses.

  1. A friend suggested we have DS1 bday and her sons party together (they will be4) so have agreed as we will invite the same people from nursery and they are two weeks apart. She has been talking about hiring halls and clwns and caterers but i just want o hire the local playcentre and let them all run around and they provide the food too.

It is lots cheaper to do it my way and on Fri we agreed we could invite 5 xtra's each. Today she is talking about inviting 11 year olds and that it might only be £60 more to hire a hall but that £60 could pay for the really nice bday cake i want to get. She even wanted to get a joint bday cake at one point.

DS1 has specifically said he would like a party this yar and it will be his first but we will also have two separate occassions with ILs and then my family. She wants to try to do something like her sons 1st birthday which cost her £800

I am wondering if a film and pizza would be better if I can get DS to pick a few friends.

Sorry fo the me me and me this morning and ranting just feeling down for the first time in ages. Would really like to have a talk with DH about the work thing and see if we can agree on a plan. We do need the money but actually get more tax creds that my salary so it all cancels out really.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 18/01/2010 12:13

hahaha at George in the chair.... E will be like this I just know he will.

Lilyloo · 18/01/2010 13:22

Hey all M having pretty quiet day today. Watched her dvd this am and gone to bed now! She had her cake yesterday , my dad and sis may pop over after work though!

Gingeme how cute with George You are 'not' supposed to be getting broody Wondering how i will feel now M has hit 2. I don't want , can't afford another baby but the 2 year mark has always meant another baby on the way!!!

Mm like the name change

JKS what are you plans for H birthday ?

Simps yawn doing the jobs here too!!! Glad the bathroom is nice !

Filly June will be here in no time!!

Mixedm shame about the no pg this month. Could staying at home and studying be a possibility then ? The party thing £800! I don't see the point paying for caterers or clowns for 4 year olds.
Likewise i am not sure you would be successful getting a group of 4 year olds to sit down long enough for a film either! Good luck.

Happy belated birthday for A

Back to normal here now. Snow gone. Car home Getting all my jobs done i have been putting off.

LaTrucha · 18/01/2010 14:42

Happy Birthday Aaliyah and Martha

Mixedmama - I think we're going to need that recipe, girl. Sorry you were disappointed this month. It's horrid, isn't it? Sorry too about all the other worries. How do you think DH will react to you wanting to stay at home (kind of rocks, btw, but there is a bit of a loss of self too). It does really soun dlike the joint party is more trouble than it's worth to me.

Lilyloo- we're having that sort of day too. I am on my third load of washing! Glad M had a nice day.

Willsurvive - You'll always be Madmouse to me! How many dents in the furniture so far

Filly - LO on the idea of me having 'previous'. Feeling a bit of a fun lovin' criminal now Who is the other one due in June?

Gingeme - Sorry about your twinge (although you're quite liking the break for freedom too aren't you?). He'll always be your baby though, won't he? He might even let you give him a snuggle-wuggle on his 21st (if you don't do it in public!). Looks like he's going to be an escapee!

Simpson - I'm glad the house is settling down. Any chance of pics?

My due date is June 30th. I have worked out how to survive pregnancy, I believe. Da DA Dum - go to bed at 8.30! Still sick this morning but actually feel half human. I wonder if I'm going to stick to it.

We had our party for Sabela at the soft play yesterday. I was really pleased with how it went. She was excited but not overwhelmed and remained herself, IYSWIM. Loads of people came. I was expecting more drop outs and was a bit unnerved when 20 odd children arrived but it urned out to be a good mix of ages (eldest 5 but he has a two year old brother) and friends. Due to horrible fan-assisted oven we had shop-bought cakes. Sabela surprised me by going crazy for a Peppa Pig one, although she didn't eat it, just kept poking her candles in it.

Forgot completely to take photos! Argggghhh.

MrsMac - get your bum back here!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 18/01/2010 15:50

Hmmm,.... waht o you think of this ladies.

I just picked the boys up from nursery and one of the staff commented on how much likes his food and he really does, thn she said we have to limit him otherwise he will go on and on.

Not sure how I feel about this, I mean he prob would carry on he does love eating, but not sure I am happy about them limiting him. Am I overeacting?

willsurvivethis · 18/01/2010 16:17

Mixedmama - I don't think a toddler's diet should be limited without a doctor's say so and at the very least without your prior permission!!!

LaT hope you can stick to 8.30 enough to make you feel half human most of the time. I wish we had dents in the furniture but that will take 8 weeks - for now it is more about dents in the NHS budget! You can still call me madmouse

Ginge at the thought of you broody. Have been wanting to tease you for ages now about your baby fish on fb, but surprised you could stil consider no6!

simpson · 18/01/2010 17:18

mixedmama - that would annoy me too tbh re food. Is it too late to get out of joint party?

Gingeme - when I heard about your new tank was going to say you will have less time for fishville too

Filly - will try and sort out pics

Lilyloo - glad things are getting back to normal!!

LaT - Sabela's party sounds fab!! Think we will have a peppa Pig cake too although M won't get to eat it...

JKS - love to hear how well H is doing!!

Willsurvivethis - like the new name

Yes I keep going to look at new bathroom But mainly looking at the landing as have had one doorway plastered over so more wall in landing iyswim.

Can you beleive it, M has just asked to go to bed already??

simpson · 18/01/2010 18:03

JKS - you and me have been nominated for Xmas appeal!!!!

Can't do link sorry but thread is in chat under "need your help"

They need your address.

Lilyloo · 18/01/2010 20:24

LOL M had a Peppa Pig cake too

mixedmamameansbusiness · 19/01/2010 09:17

oh how fab about the appeal simps and jks.

think i need to speak to the lady at nursery again and ascertain what she means. i posted in aibu (am i mad?) and have been told that if he is asking for more than seconds i prob shouldnt be annoyed. will ask what she meant and how much they allow him then see what i think after that.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 19/01/2010 09:34

Oh and re: the party. I am just going to tell her that I dont want to hire a hall and entertainment and if she does then will just do my own thing. Am wondering in fact if I take my dining table down could we just have a pass the parcel type party at home.

gingeme · 19/01/2010 12:44

Argh I am beginning to hate partys too. We are doing this thing with David , who will be 6 in April, where you can invite 4 friends to Pizza Express and they can make their own pizzas and eat them after. Edward has decided he wants another halloween party as we were sorting out the halloween stuff yesterday.I have to sort my own party too . I am 40 in November and Im going to have a fancy dress party with the theme of 70s should be a laugh
Well I dont know if you have seen my fb status but George did another escape act last night. I checked on the boys about 9.30 and couldnt see George. We dont have central heating so they have an electric oil heater in their room. George was asleep sitting by this surrounded by toys Wonder where he will end up tonight !!!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 19/01/2010 12:58

Ohhhh I have a Pizza Express at the end of my road, it is huge and lovely... will look into that as DH mentioned just taking some of his friends for Pizza.

LaTrucha · 19/01/2010 19:52

Very tired but had momentous day today. I'm doing a course on child's speech andlanguage development and Sabela went to creche. THis is the first time I've left her like that. I expained it to her, aying she was going to play with her firends - thankfully she knew lots of the kids already - and mummy was going to play in the other room and she didn't cry at all. Until I picked her up two hours later when she was in floods for alittle while. DShe is totally knakered tonight but says she wants to go back next week.

AngeChica · 19/01/2010 20:23

Happy birthday to Aaliyah and Martha for t' other day.

Mixedmama step away from AIBU it's a scary place

The course sounds v interesting laT and success with creche is a good thing. I hav no idea how A would deal with it, he is perfectly happy going to his CM but a creche or preschool would be something else. The leisure centre has one and I have thought to put him in there while I go swimming some time, but I can't go swimming ATM as my ears are very blocked up with fluid and I am waiting to be referred prob for grommets yet again....

funny Gingeme, where will G end up today? reminds me of my friends LO who slept just like Alek, kneeling face down like they are praying. used to find him in this position all over their house.

JustKeepSwimming · 19/01/2010 21:50

Mixedm - hope you get to the bottom of things at nursery, sounds a bit off to me.

Simps - i have emailed but only cos i know they'll chase me otherwise! i totally don't deserve to be nominated and i'm a bit embarrassed about it

LaT - course & creche all sounds good

G - you have a real wanderer on your hands, looking forward to seeing where you find him tonight!

All good here, H definitely called me mamamama today
and lots of dancing to music and loving certain toys.

Plus a Sing & Sign class & a drop into old bf group where everyone was amazed by his progress

nicky6 · 19/01/2010 22:40

am sorry been rubbish - swine flu extravaganza has had us all a bit knocked out and knackered but apart from the now ususal lack of sleep i am back on track.

ok Meet up 17th Feb - shall I find somewhere central london ish if i can

computer about to die so will post and sign off

gingeme · 20/01/2010 13:00

Afternoon ladies.
George did a bit better last night. He only got up twice. Once sitting in Edwards bed and the second to sit byt eh heater to play. I told him 'firmly' to stay in his own bed and he did
DH and I are now joined up to Slimming World. 2 stone to lose by November. Trouble is we just bought a small birthday cake for DHs birthday

LaTrucha · 20/01/2010 13:12

I think sometimes they just need to know what the rules are, Gingeme. I often forget she hasn't got a clue what is 'normal'.

Ange - I think it really helped that she already knew the place and a lot of the children. Good luck with the grommets.

Nicky - glad you're over the worst. These things can set you back for ages.

JKS - that must have been lovely at bf group. So glad things seem to be progressing well. What happens next with his treatment?

Very mixed day today. My bf had had a threatened miscarriage and today she lost the baby at 12 weeks so very sad. She was too upset to speak really. She has been great at not trying to cheer me up - which is usually the last thing you really want - so I hope I can be the same.

Good news is though is that I start training as bf peer supporter on Saturday. I've been wanting to do it for ages but missed the last course due to Spain. I'm glad they remembered to think of me!

17 weeks today and very grateful.

LaTrucha · 20/01/2010 17:37

Didn't mean to sound liek a know-it-all there Gingeme. You know FAR better than me!

nicky6 · 20/01/2010 20:30

girls before i start looking - is central london ok for everyone?

TheArcaneMommy · 20/01/2010 20:59

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum, but thought I would join you all here.

My little boy was 2 yesterday! I cannot believe he is 2 already!!

we are having a little birthday party on Saturday for him. I cant decide between a Peppa Pig cake, an Iggle Piggle cake or a Number 2 cake!

My Ds loves Peppa Pig too...and Iggle Piggle, not itng, just Iggle Piggle lol.

He has started the tantrums already, if the slightest little thing does not do what he wants to, on the floor and screaming ensues!

He has a little sister who is 7 months old, and he is very loving towards her, which is lovely.

I also have to this week take up his application for the local nursery!!! I had not even gave it any thought until my fil mentioned it, as he is the ex chair of the governors for the primary the nursery is attached to! He was speaking to the head, who told him that we should get the form in as soon as he is 2! Still a bit in shock over that lol.

willsurvivethis · 20/01/2010 21:05

Hi arcaneMummy - welcome, the more the merrier. My ds will be two on 1 Feb.

He will have a train cake a) Because he loves anything with wheels and b) Because I spent a fortune on the mould last year and want to use it again!

TheArcaneMommy · 20/01/2010 21:28

ah, see I bought a mould for a rubber duck cake last year, as DS was very into rubber ducks at the time!

I spent hours on it, but I have never recovered from the trauma of seeing my sil swinging the knife and decapitating it!

I had given some though to a train cake too..I will probably decide Friday, it all depends on what I find in the cake decoration shop that I can use.
