Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
simpson · 11/05/2010 09:56

bit of a bizarre thing happened this morning

M was totally fine in the night etc and when I went in to get her this morning she was clutching a pack of frozen prawns!!

I think what happened is that I was cooking my dinner at the same time as putting M to bed and must have taken them upstairs for some reason

JKS - will have a look now....

Gingeme - how did no dummy go??

gingeme · 11/05/2010 13:37

Prawns lol thats different I guess.
Edward was just fine and loved the gift the dummy fairy bought for him , a small gun that shoots foam bullets . DH took him to the gp this morning . He has been having real trouble passing a pooh for a few days. So he has got Lactulose which he has to take for 5 days then see how he is
George had a melt down at playgroup this morning as they were all up much too early . He was being a real bum. Not his usual self at all Was soon ok once the snacks came out though.
Keep up the good work Simpson

LaTrucha · 11/05/2010 14:00

Hope George has sweetened up.

You see Simpson? Red ted is not irreplaceable! LMAO

Ok you Mummies of two-year old boys! My bf's son is two in a few weeks. She's told me to buy nothing, partly because she does get a lot of stuff from friends and family and partly because I know she doesn't like a lot of small toys and clutter and partly because her son has very specific tastes - he likes wheels (like pram wheels - he likes to spin them), throwing things (so any small toys are likely to be thrown) and Thomas the Tank Engine. Maybe Fireman Sam (although she's discouraging it, as he's taken to shouting 'Fire! Fire!' in the middle of the supermarket )That's IT.

I have been searching for something nice for him but keep coming back to boring . useful stuff like Thomas pjs, Thomas cutlery / plates etc.

Is this lame, or would you / DS like this sort of thing?

I was also thinking of a fireman Sam helmet but she mentioned something about screaming if she was given another piece of yellow plastic, so perhaps not

I honestly can't bring it up again with her. She'll only tell me not to.

willsurvivethis · 11/05/2010 15:52

LaT do you have a Morrisons near you? They sell these little Thomas and friends books, 2 for £3 that Nathan adores. we have tens of them it seems. Mothercare, Waterstones and ELC sell them too but for £3 each.

fillybuster · 11/05/2010 16:32

Simpson, you actually made me properly laugh out loud. Proper belly laughing! Love the idea of M clutching a bag of frozen shrimps all night (and loving the proof suggested by LaT that red ted is replaceable after all....that could be a slightly whiffy solution for the long term....)!

LaT - WST's books suggestion is a good one. My mum bought ds a couple of 'interactive' books when he was that age, that I think she found in costco or bookwarehouse (ie somewhere cheap), that were part story, part 'press this button'/'turn this wheel'. I hated them, cos reading them was sooooo boring, but that's not the point...he really really loved them, and they didn't contribute to the yellow plastic mountain. Otherwise, M&S and Asda do brilliant dressing=up outfits, so maybe a fireman or builder outfit would be good?

LaTrucha · 11/05/2010 18:38

Those are the kinds of things I would be inclined to go for myself but I forgot to say (silly LaT) that he won't read books.

Sorry.

simpson · 12/05/2010 08:25

LaT - what about an aqua draw??? You can little ones (kind of book sized) M has got a travel one which is small and comes with a little handle on top to carry around

Don't know how much it was though, as was a gift iyswim....

Well M had a fab night I went out to my street dancing class at 7pm and my mum did get a minor hard time as M would not settle till 9pm ish as she fell asleep in the day for an hour.

But once asleep she spent the whole night in her bed

mixedmamameansbusiness · 12/05/2010 13:19

Hello all...

Firstly - Simps the prawn episode almost made me spit my coffee over the laptop. Brilliant. You couldnt make it up.

Just saying hello really.

LaTrucha · 12/05/2010 15:26

Ok guys - feeling knackered and incapable of making a decision - you decide for me.

I'm exahusted as DD has been up two nights in a row. She has a cold. She's due to go to nursery tomorrow and I've paid extra for her to have lunch there as I have a scan and an appointment with the consultant. DH isn't available to come with me or look after DD. We've been told there's a virus going round nursery and it sounds very catching (9 out of 20 choldren were off with it today). DD will have been exposed to it yedsterday and today without us being aware of it.

Would you send her, coldy as she is and risk further exposure to the virus or would you take her with you to the hospital for scan / appointment? I know I really should take her and am beign selfish, but I'd love to have a hassle free morning tomorrow as am feeling pretty grim myself.

simpson · 12/05/2010 15:39

LaT - TBH as long as she does not have high temp tomorrow when you send her I would send her to nursery

I have sent M to nursery with a bit of a cold (yesterday)and her nursery have been fine with it, just made sure her nose was wiped etc...

LaTrucha · 12/05/2010 15:54

Thanks Simpson.

DH wanted to keep her off when there was an outbreak of nits, so I need to know if I am justified in sending her or not before he gets home.

It's one of those days when he really should know to come home with flowers and chocolates. I haven't had flowers since DD was born, so it's not soemthing I'd be expecting or he'd just do but today, he should just KNOW. Instead, he'll come home exhausted because he's been working too hard, gripe about cars, work and how I shouldn't send her to nursery and I'll lose it.

That's my prediction anyway. I'll let you know if I was right!

simpson · 12/05/2010 16:32

Have you told him you have had a pants day?

Hope you are proved wrong BTW

LaTrucha · 12/05/2010 18:46

Well, I think he got the message (probably in response to me subtly saying, 'No, I'm not alright. I feel like shit and you having a go at me doesn't help at all.'). He came home, not with flowers and chocolates, but he is going to cancel his important meeting tomorrow and look after Sabela at home so I don't have to send her sick to the nursery or take her into a hospital.

So, he is alright after all

simpson · 12/05/2010 19:33

Awww bless him

Good luck with appt tomorrow

AngeChica · 12/05/2010 22:20

big to everyone, a catch up round up would be good I have no idea what's been going on with you all - been so busy!

i have a flexi day tomorrow - A still going to childminders. Have a million things to catch up on but have booked a Hair appt, facial and massage.

LaTrucha · 13/05/2010 13:35

Hi all,

Scan went well. My fluid levels have gone down but the baby is growing well so feel good now. Another scan in a month. I can't believe I'm going to be pregnant that long though!

Horredndous night with Sabela. She thought she should come into my bed as she was there the night before (she was poorly so I needed to keep an eye on her). She started demanding to come in at 2.30 and didn't give in until 5am. Hellfire.

How was yours Simpson (and everyone else, of course)?

Enjoy your treatments Ange - sounds lovely.

simpson · 13/05/2010 15:50

Ange - have a fab day tomorrow am very

LaT - glad scan went well but grrr on your bad night.

Night not so good her either

She seems to go down ok but woke at 5.45 ready to start day

She went in and woke Joshua to tell him to take her sleeping bag off

Then they played "shopping" very loudly outside my bedroom door!!!

On school run now she has just fallen asleep in buggy which is soooo not what I want!! Ahhhh!!!

willsurvivethis · 13/05/2010 20:50

LaT so glad to hear it is all going well. How many weeks now?

Now I know why I avoid having Nathan in bed with me like the plague except the twice a year or so he really wakes up too early.

When he's ill he's usually too hot so then bed with us will make him even hotter.

Hi everyone xx

JustKeepSwimming · 13/05/2010 21:08

Hi everyone, not much going on here to talk about.
DH busy busy.
I bought myself some new slippers and some bits in Matalan, plus some bits for T's birthday on Sun, need to get organised with his cake tomorrow.

Also got H's TAC meeting tomorrow, not sure what's involved but will have to see.

My parents coming up for a few days on Sat and I have a night out at a friends tomorrow for pasta & wine.

Otherwise, off to bed soon, am v tired.

LaTrucha · 14/05/2010 11:04

Thank Goodness we had a good night here. Sabela very chesty this morning though so planning a TV and pyjamas day here. There's a nasty fever, diahorrea and rash bug going around here - half the children (literally) off nursery and 4, I'm told, in hospital, so we are not mixing, especially while she may be both contagious and weakened. Missing bf training today though because of it (sad). The official day tomorrow. This was just a catch up session. I'm hoping DH will say he can still look after Sabela as I don't want to take her. He's really under pressure though, partly from work partly from my family (looks like the saga with DB's work is entering the endgame, although DB isn't facing it and Jose has said he will go to Liverpool next week to try and make sure he makes the crucial meetings and talk some sense into him - essentially the choice is between a good penion and hardly any but he has to confess there is a problem which we haven't yet persuaded him to do. MASSIVE ).

DF starts chemo today too . He's not going to have a moment's peace from my DB until his dying day, which won't be far off now. Too much, too much.

Poor DH - he's worked the last two weekends, has to work Sunday and then will get behind again because of Liverpool. Maybe asking him to look after Sabela tomorrow is too much. hmm

JKS - Have a lovely weekend. Hope TAC goes well. Let us knwo what it involves.

Simpson - I feel your pain with the early mornings. I guess she can just get out now. Usually I go in but tell her she's not coming out of the cot till 7am. Sometimes she even goes back to sleep, sometimes she plays, sometimes she objects but she stays there. That's why I think you are very brave introducing the bed. I like my girl behind bars!

WST - I try to avoid it too, but it got to the point when I was too tired to get out of bed to wipe her down and comfort her so gave in. 33 weeks today. I'd not be sorry if he arrived at 36 weeks (wicked mummy).

gingeme · 14/05/2010 13:04

Hi all.
Good night here well for the boys anyway. I don't seem to be sleeping too well lately. Realy not sure why
ds1 is here for the weekend again, DH starts his annual leave tomorrow so were going to try to go out if the weather permits.
Davids on a school trip to The Tower Of London today. He was so excited this morning. Hes going to be knackered later
Well thats about it realy.
Have a good weekend all xx

fillybuster · 14/05/2010 15:57

LaT, it sounds like you've got a huge amount on your plate at the moment, really wish I could help you out in a more practical way but all I can do is send ((((((hugs))))) and some virtual flowers and chocs. So sorry that everything is piling up on you all at once

Gingeme - sure you're not pg?! I'm not sleeping well, at all, but at least I know why!!!

Hope you had a lovely day 'off', Ange, very jealous of the beauty treatments

Happy birthday Tom! What ar you doing for his party JKS? How did the TAC meeting go?

Simpson - can you get J to return M to bed when she goes wandering in at 5.45? If not, I suppose you should just be grateful she's not coming into you!

Hope you all have lovely weekends. I'm tired, hormonal, fat, pregnant and deeply grumpy...but finishing work next Friday (yay!) and only 4 weeks till due date (triple yay!). On the other hand, we're not remotely ready....boo!

MrsMcJnr · 14/05/2010 17:03

Hey sorry I have been AWOL MIL was here until this afternoon and I felt like I was constantly on the go. I didn?t get a thing on my list done I felt like I was constantly making her cups of tea and coffee which is unfair as she did help a lot with the kids but I still never got any time to myself as there was no way she could cope with them both. Got a lovely morning with DS alone though and we really enjoyed it. DD did not though, she was furious at being left with Grandma Also started potty training DS, he is doing so well I am so proud of him!

How are you all? Will try to catch up!

willsurvivethis · 14/05/2010 19:57

LaT big hug for you xxx

AngeChica · 14/05/2010 22:39

hello. feeling refreshed thanks! NB I did forgo my highlights to fork out for the facial & massage but it was fab, Aveda so really yummy smelling stuff! Had not had anything like that since my hen weekend over 3 years ago. Only wish I could do it more often!! I also spent several hours strimming the garden, weeding and sorting laundry . Busy day with DS today. His vocab is coming on fast but still not combining them and they are very garbled. There are a lot of sounds he can't seem to say eg s or j or "blended" consonants. I'm sure he will sort it out eventually but it's quite frustrating.
good luck with the potty MrsMc!
Another early riser here Simpson, alas he is NOT the type to play quietly on his own until mummy gets up though.
Pregnant ladies you are on the home straight now.
