LaT - I love Eder and Iker. As someone with an Ed name people will get it wrong but that is wat happens when you have names that are foreign you will always have to explain, I would just do it if you and DH like them. FWIW Sabela and Eder sounds brilliant I think, but what do I know. I wanted Suleyman which everyone on the planet vetoed except MIL weirdly.

Filly - are you going to share your lists.... funnily enough I had to read your post twice as I thought you had given it away too but alas you were very smart about it.

An old work clgue of mine had her little boy yesterday.... Sidney... what des everyone think... old man chic or a step too far.

gingeme · 01/05/2010 19:35

What a nightmare Simpson
Mixedmamma ds4 is Edward Sidney Phillip after my grandada I like the idea of my grandads name being 'old man chic'.
How are things WST ?
Took the boys to a local fair today. Timed it just right before the rain arrived It was in a park and so went to the playground after and saw a bride and groom having pics taken on the swings etc. David asked if 'that lady is a princess?' she did look beautiful.

LaTrucha · 03/05/2010 16:46

Ahh, sweet Gingeme!

Is the ordeal over yet, Simpson?

Sabela has some sort of tummy bug and fever yesterday and today. She vomited in the night and came into my bed afterwards, very hot and restless (and so I was too, of course). She's much perkier today, but it's scary when they suddenly wilt, isn't it? We're having a pyjama day though and keeping up the calpol as I think she's still hot. Can't wait for bedtime! I think I might put myself to bed straight after her!

simpson · 03/05/2010 18:18

Hope Sabela gets better soon....

Gingeme - J went to funfair too with my dad and H and they just missed the rain too

M stayed with me as she is an absolute nightmare at funfairs not understanding when rides finish etc and has lots of temper tantrums etc

Well H has gone back and tbh visit was not too bad in the end

Although he gave M full fat milk with her cornflakes yesterday

Cue lots of poos and M crying saying she has a sore tummy

H even rang last night and said he wants to make more effort

I even had a drink in local pub with friends on sat night as H & my brother had kids at my mums house

gingeme · 04/05/2010 13:15

Afternoon ladies How is everyone?

LaTrucha · 04/05/2010 14:42

Recovered here, thanks.

Did any of you find the baby kicking actually quite painful (when pg )? I didn;t with Sabela, probably because I had too much fluid. In the last couple fo days this one has been belting seven bells out of me. Not that the movements are abnormal but I'm almost feeling bruised.

simpson · 04/05/2010 16:35

LaT - I remember trying to change J's nappy when 8mths pg and it being really painful to sit on floor (used changing mat on floor)

fillybuster · 04/05/2010 16:55

So glad the visit went better than expected, Simpson - any idea when he's planning to come over next? Especially good that M and J got to spend some decent time (it sounds like) with their dad without him cocking things up too much.

Nicky, sounds like you're slowly gettin on top of things with Noah...hang in there and remember 'this too will pass'!

Gingeme, ouch!!!! I was going to get my tongue pierced many many years ago and only pulled out at the point they were trying to get my tongue into the clamp. I just couldn't do it! Settled for lots in my ears instead, but anything else....far too scared! How are they feeling now?

WST - are you there? Are you feeling better? Sounds like last week was a whole series of horrid things, hope this week has started a bit better.

JKS - how are the boys doing?

I'm enormously uncomfortable (baby trying to fight its way out through my ribs, piles, SPD, sciatica etc etc) and have had enough now...'only' 3 more weeks of work, and its not even that many days, but I wish I could stop already. Sigh. Sorry, I'm just grumbling, everythings fine really...

Growth scan on Friday morning, can't wait to see what flump looks like now

fillybuster · 04/05/2010 16:56

oops. sorry

brain dead: totally forgot to say hi to lilyloo, mixedmama and mrsmc.

probably forgot someone else as well....oh dear...

willsurvivethis · 04/05/2010 17:48

I'm here - will post again soon

JustKeepSwimming · 04/05/2010 18:42

I'm here too, just busy.

Boys are fine, H turning into a right monkey climbing everywhere and everything.
Got him back into water play which is reassuring as he was getting hysterical near baths, even just at the taps running.

I've had some kind of ear infection, leading to vertigo, which wasn't nice. The vertigo has mostly gone now but i have suck blocked ears i can hardly hear.
PIL are here for a few days and have brought up a home-diy-ear-syringing thingie...bit sceptical but right now i'll try anything!

I've mostly forgotten all i've read, except for OMG GIngeme??!?!! OUCH!!!!

gingeme · 04/05/2010 20:57

How exciting filly growth scan
Glad your on the mend JKS .
Come back soon WST.
Yes Filly I was going to get my tongue pierced years ago but then didnt like the idea of something constantly in my mouth that shouldn't be They are realy not that sore actualy. I read a few forums about nip piercing beforehand and heard about swellings and infections and all I can say is these people must have been realy unclean or gone to a crap piercer I have to give them a quick clean with salt water twice a day and thats it. No swelling or oozing or even pain much. DH realy likes them too

mixedmamameansbusiness · 05/05/2010 11:18

Somehow I missed that Gingeme - ouch but cool. I have my nose pierced but due to blue chip jobs took it out and it has closed, DH is always going on about getting it re-pierced.

Great News

DS1 got into the school I really really wanted. I am over the moon. I was soooo impressed with it and he liked it and then I took DH and he loved it too. I was naughty and only applied for one school instead of 4. This means that DS2 is also sorted which is great. They learn french, a musical instrument and are very sporty so there is loads of scoipe for a sense of achievement if either of them turn out to not be completely academic.

gingeme · 05/05/2010 13:56

That is brill news mixedmamma
How did the scan go Filly ?
Don't think well be coming down your end Saturday JKS the weather looks a bit pants I think we will do the London Eye instead and go to the fair in the summer. Might be better chance of goo weather then
All is well here. The boys are doing fine. David had a friend from school over yesterday, they had great fun together and she included all the boys in their playing which was fab. George loved her and followed her round the whole time even in the toilet at one point she just thought he was funny

simpson · 05/05/2010 19:06

fantastic news mixedmama

Found out totally by accident today (talking to another mum on the way back from school run) that J's school is closed tomorrow

Have been a bit naughty and rung M's nursery and said she won't be in so I can have a lie in

J has got his best friend round to play tomorrow afternoon so that should entertain him somewhat

Ok have a WWYD (too scared to start thread )

think I am going to have to report next door neighbours to HV or social services

Basically the little girl (aged 2, birthday in Oct so 3mths older than M) is outside the front of her house alone alot or under the care of her 7yr brother.

The other night (last sat) when I went out I had to return her to them at 9pm and they did not even realise she had got out!! She was also naked TBH this happens quite a lot and last night/eve (about 6/6.30) the ice cream van came and she was sent to ice cream van ie on road by herself and semi naked

There is also lots more tbh She always looks dirty but not "normal" toddler dirt iyswim. Although she is quite a happy little thing

Anyway do you think I should say something? They are always taking her on trips to zoo/park etc so she is loved but I guess the family lack basic parenting skills iyswim.

gingeme · 05/05/2010 19:20

Yes Simpson I would definately report it. You will remain anonymous. I certainly would. Have you ever been to their house? Is it clean, tidy, safe etc? Yes I would.

JustKeepSwimming · 05/05/2010 19:42

That's good news MixedMama

G - i thought the same about the weather this morning when i checked. Let me know when you do come and we can all meet up - tbh i think i may be knackered on Sat.

H doing loads of little new things, turning round and round making himself dizzy, opening the doors, then playing opening & closing which is interesting...
and lots of googoogaga type sounds.
All progress

Lilyloo · 05/05/2010 21:11

Evening all

JKS great news about H

Mixedm fab news about school so pleased for you!!!Was a weight off my mind when L school year was over subscribed as H already there!

LaT and Filly sorry to hear the lo's are making you uncomfortable , it's amazing how you forget that , i used to have tto take my bra off in work and lie down in the car when coming home (obv not driving)

Iwill hope you ok x

Gingeme glad the nips are healing

Hi to everyone else

Caught up on holiday washing and been busy booking camping hols.
Am currently filling in ap form , closing date next Monday. Plenty of good luck vibes please.
Nothing much else happening , had wardrobe clear out today , i had clothes pre dc !

LaTrucha · 06/05/2010 14:47

Oooo Lily - what's it for?

Simpson - I probably would say something too.

JKS - good to hear of progress?

IWST - hope you're finding something fun to do while you're recovering and planning your next move.

Gingeme - how's the nips

With apologies to Filly, I'm going to put the same problems here as in my ante-natal thread.

WWYD - Feeling a bit scpeitcal about the arrangements I've made for DD when I go into hospital. A friend with a daughter who is 9 months older is to look after her. The two girls get on really well, but the last few times the older girl has really been not very nice to DD. She constantly takes toys from her, tells her off etc...Then, the last time we saw them, the girl deliberatley hit DD in the fae and today she has pushed her three times and thrown a ball full force in her face. I know this is normal toddler behaviour but I'm beginning to wonder if I should call it off. DD still really likes her, so I guess I should wait until DD has had enough of it, shouldn't I? It would just be a pity if the day she has enough of it is the day I go into hospital.

Lilyloo · 06/05/2010 18:32

LaT it's a job in the pre school , so can take L and H to school and collect them and bring M with me , ideal really!

I would hold out and see r/e the little girl , maybe Sabela will let her know when she has had enough ? Have you anyone else who can step in ?

LaTrucha · 06/05/2010 18:42

I do, but that person is doing me a lot of favours ATM (aren't I lucky ).

The two girls have jsut spent a lovely afternoon jumping up and down in muddy puddles. But it's rare that all is smooth. Hmmm

fillybuster · 07/05/2010 13:18

Great news on the school Mixedmama, so pleased for you

LaT - if Sabela seems happy(ish) with your friend and her DD then let it be; I appreciate it might not be 100% perfect, but it will only be for a day or so and she's a pretty resilient little girl I know how hard it can be to let go a bit, but you know that Sabela can stand her ground if she wants to (hey, she does it with you!! ), so just trust her to establish her own relationship with the bigger girl.

Had my growth scan this morning - its another big one...panic! Apparently its big enough for them to decide I need another scan at 38 weeks to monitor growth...Eeeeek!!!!

This one is potentially larger than DS and DD so I'm just a bit nervous...I know I got the previous 2 out (with attendant cutting/tearing) but this one has an enormous head on the scan which is making me panic slightly....

DH was funny, as he's been quite dismissive of my general discomfort until now (in a nice way) and thought the growth scan was going to be a bit of a waste of time and effort. Suddenly he's realised that if the baby is already approx 6lbs 7oz at 34 weeks that its quite a big deal carrying a big baby and really bloody uncomfortable!!! Even funnier was the consultant who looked at me, looked at dh and then asked "are you sure he's the father?" DH and I are both fairly normal heights (I'm 5'8" and dh is just over 5'10") but we're both quite slim....this baby is majorly bulky and tall! (My dad is 6'3" and my FIL was over 6', so we do know where the tall genes come from, but its pretty funny)

Right, time to get back to work, hope everyone is having a nice day and getting some sunshine. I'm knackered, as we stayed up watching the election results until after 1.30, then had to get up early to get to the hospital....yawn....

gingeme · 07/05/2010 14:47

filly good luck eek makes my eyes water just thinking about it!
LaTrucha I agree with filly. I'm pretty sure S will hold her own plus the bigger girls Mum would step in if things got too heated. I'm sure if you air your worries with her she'll understand?
Simpson have you reported the little girl? Any feedback yet?
I am a big lover of good manors and the boys pretty much say their p's and q's and when we say thankyou to George he says 'your malcolm'
Its ds1's 16th birthday tomorrow we are going to go on the London Eye and maybe have a meal out in London.
Sunday a friends little boy is 3 so we are going to his party. Ill try not to eat too much cake
Well have a good weekend all.

LaTrucha · 07/05/2010 15:13

Hi,

Thanks fo ryour advice re: older girl. I am pretty much leaving well-enough alone. They had a lovely afternoon splashing in muddy puddles together yesterday so I wouldn't want to derpive Sabela of that kind of fun. She is a feisty little creature at home, but she's very gentle outside and gets very confused if she's pushed etc. She hasn't quite got to the stage of retaliating / fighting back.

I think part of my concern is that I sometimes feel my friend is too permissive with her daughter, but it is also normal toddler behaviour.

I am considering giving my two friends (who vaguely know each other) each other's telephone numbers so they could share taking Sabela but probably should just back off and stop fretting.

Filly - I can see how that would make you apprehensive but the difficulty of the birth isn't always caused by size, is it? We'll have to hope this LO keeps its back in the right place. If it's any consolation, DH was a third baby and weighed 5 kilos at birth (around 12lb). The birth was straightforward and took about 45 minutes. Here's hoping you get something similar (not the 5k baby! )

Lily - I remember you talking about doing that. Good luck with it.

Gingeme - sweet. Ont he same note, Sabela is going through a phase of practising faces in the mirror. Sometimes I see her practising crying and how she looks! The other day I caught her looking at herself with big, sad eyes, saying, 'Pleeeeeeeeease, pleeeeeeeeeease.' so, looks like that's going to be the next stage

willsurvivethis · 07/05/2010 19:51

Hi all - sorry slowly emerging from a dark corner - last week was too much and I stopped coping and sleeping. Am slowly starting to feel the benefit of having finished work and have got something from the pharmacy to help with sleep so the only way is up, right

Nathan is doing fab, from strength to strength. He has been offered a place at a specialist assessment nursery which will offer help with language. He will go there two mornings a week in addition to two days at mainstream.

Glad you all seem to be doing ok apart from the pregnancy discomfort. Filly those scans are so often miles out and usually indicate a baby is much heavier than it is. Also, sometimes big babies with nice big heads can get into position really well, press down well and so have smooth births.

LaT you worrywart Sabela will be fine - it's only for a little while anyway. Hope you're doing ok, would be good to chat at some point.

Lily good news on job

erm sorry brain mush - waves to everyone else x
