Forgot to say M presented me with lovely Mothers day card yesterday that she had made at playgroup.

Pic of her in the middle surrounded by random crap decorations that M had stuck on!!!

Was most sweet

LaTrucha · 12/03/2010 20:16

Simpson - Feel FREE to complain away on here. That's what we're here for. M is clearly hitting the terrible twos big style, and every parent finds that difficult.

One thing I found helped with nappy times when Sabela wouldn't cooperate was firstly, holding her down and making her comply, basically. The second was hairclips. Sabela loves them but won't keep them on for more than two seconds, so the hands go up to search and then examine etc. Usually enough time for a quick whip off
and wipe.

I've only got Sabela, so I don't know, but would it help making a big fuss of J and his good behaviour while M is acting up and ignoring her?

Glad you liked your card

LaTrucha · 12/03/2010 20:23

BTW - Filly I have worked out a staged way forward. Worked beautifully yesterday. No real challenges today, so hard to tell. Thanks so much. I'm at least feeling much more confident about handling it. Your questions gave very productive food for thought.

Now need meal inspiration. I'm worn down with the limitation of her meals and can only think of soups plus something carb based and basic. My Next project: rejuvenate the menu!

willsurvivethis · 13/03/2010 08:30

LaT will Sabela eat tomatoey things with rice?

Nathan is quite keen on things like ghulash which I make with lots of tomato, peppers and paprika (he likes spicy) and 'spanish' style casseroles with chicken, tomato onion and olive.

Simpson glad you posted - you know you're not moaning. It's tough doing things on your own - make sure you keep talkin to me x

simpson · 13/03/2010 10:07

cheers guys

LaT - yes M hates to be ignored so I do try to ignore her when she is kicking off, but its not easy!!

Watching this with interest for new meal ideas too

Although M's fav is egg fried rice mixed with ham, raw pepper, tomatoes, peas etc.

Also new fav meal of J(who can me a fussy so 7 so) is chicken fajitas

Also fritata which has cooked potato, pasta, bacon, any veg ie peas or sweetcorn, onion, pepper & obv. eggs

Roast dinner is always eaten by both Dcs too.

Oh and I nearly forgot noodles with pretty much anything!!

simpson · 13/03/2010 10:08

LaT - also forgot to say think the hair clip thing might work as she is very into being a "pretty girl" atm LOL

Lilyloo - hope you feel better soon...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 14/03/2010 12:02

Have been consistently lurking so have been keeping up.

SIMPSON - glad you are back. Moaning is a pe-requisite to be here DO J and M goto bed at the same time, with him being a little older would he feel special about having some time with you when M is in bed even 3 mins I know S loves it when he is rewarded with me and him sitting without E and reading or something.

Had a massively successful gathering with my SILs and my cousin at my place yesterdy. It was a dish party where each person brings 1 dish od whatever they like. Had loads of fun and make cookies with my youngest SIL (10) as her sisters had monoploised the kitchen at home so she couldnt make hers. Even put an old inidian film on in the background as my cousin and I used to watch it dubbed in Turkish when we were litle and it was a great ice breaking as the elder 2 SIL had seen it too. We are making it a regular thing and my cousin who has met them a few times before said that they seemed so much more open and she had a greta time. Loving it.

Happy Mothers Day to you all, you are all doing a fab job and this thread just shows tat whatever we all think we are doing wrong we are all doing great. For those of you whose mothers or mother figures are no longer with us today is a day for remembering all the wonderful memories.

Official January08 Babies Announcement

Could whoever has taken our original and much-loved MixedMama, and replaced her with the clearly non-identical 'MixedMamaMeansBusiness' please return her as soon as possible? Official reports indicate that getting on too well with ILs can result in unfortunate outcomes such as additional babysitting, happy husbands and fun weekends. You have been warned....

Wasn't going to post, but was so alarmed by this turn of events...

Just wanted to wave and say hi...sorry haven't caught up properly for a few days but hope you have all had luvverly Mothers Days

Simpson - please come on here and unload anytime...do not go awol just because there's too much getting you down, come on here and get support. God knows, you deserve it

LaT, glad to have been of service

Love to all xx

gingeme · 15/03/2010 11:33

Good morning ladies.
Wow mixedmamma sounds like you had great fun I am so glad things have turned round for you.
Moan away Simpson by all means. We all need a bit of a moan sometimes does us good.
filly
Had a busy early am with George. He was a bit moany going to bed last night but put it down to a busy day and both Nannys being here. He settled after about half hour. Woke up at 2am to him crying and being sick. Dh dealt with him while I stripped his bed. Same again at 4 something and 5 something was just bringing up clear liquid in the end so I think he emptied it all. Trouble is by 5.30 am the other two boys decided it was time to get up so weve had such little sleep but he seems ok now. Havn't given him any food yet though only juice. Hes in bed now. Could hardly keep awake bless him.
Anyway on a brighter note I had a brill weekend. My Mum came up Friday. We went to Nandos on Saturday with the boys and met my sister and niece there. Had a lovely lunch and chat
Had a lovely Mothers Day. Woken up with some lovely gifts. Slippers, a realy good book which ds1 chose, 2 Crunchies which ds3 chose and some candy floss which ds2 chose. Also 3 hand made cards from the little ones which were so good. Went to cemetary in the afternoon with my Mum and ds3 to put some plants in my Nans grave. Had a complicated chat with ds3 about cemetarys and death etc. Them my MIL came up and had a yummy roast cooked by DH
I realy hope you all had a great Mothers Day too xxx

J has just totally refused (tbh not in a naughty way, he just does not want to wear one) to let me put his night time pull up on...

I know he will wee all over bed and have me up in the night....

Question is do I put one on him when I go to bed and he is asleep???

His nighttime nappies/pull ups are still pretty heavy in the morning ....

JustKeepSwimming · 15/03/2010 19:32

I would say yes, put one on later if they are usually full in the morning.

hi everyone else, just got confirmation today that a friend will let us housesit for them in Jersey in August (when some other friends of ours are going over there for their holiday) so need to get booking, yey!

gingeme · 15/03/2010 19:32

Yes put it on him when he is asleep !!

LaTrucha · 15/03/2010 20:19

HI all --

Did you manage to get it on him, Simpson?

Glad you all had nice mother's days.

Thanks for the suggestion of rice IWST. We did do it before and she did like it but I get discouraged!

Mixedmama- I am in awe of your self-control and effort.

Filly - I totally blew it at dinner tonight. Oh well. Try again tomorrow.

Sabela is going through a phase of not wanting to go to sleep. She does have a cough but it doesn't stop her doing anything else, so I'm not sure if that is it. I did have one day away on Saturday for Bf training, and DH and I did have some tension in the air around bed time last night so it may be a combination of all three (plus new baby etc). She was 'up' until 10 last night and then awake at 1am although she only woke me up and then settled herself. I'm suffering with horrible pregnancy insomnia, and DH is totally overworked and worried about DF, so all tired in Casa Trucho tonight.

simpson · 16/03/2010 09:17

luckily J came back downstairs 45 mins later and said he had changed his mind!!!

LaT - I feel your pain re eating....

J ate all his tea ( totally unheard of!!) one day last wk and said he was still hungry so I made him some toast and now every day since he has refused to eat tea and only wants toast

So he has been going to bed a hungry boy as I won't give in!!!

Have parents eve with J at 5.50 this eve. Hope M behaves as she will be very tired and is used to going to bed at 6

simpson · 16/03/2010 09:21

forgot to say I could not find M's shoes this morning so she had to do school run in her slippers and I still can't find them so looks like she will be going toddler group today in slippers too

simpson · 16/03/2010 11:29

well finally found her shoes at the bottom of her toy box with all the toys piled on top of them

Only took me 45 mins to find them

LaTrucha · 16/03/2010 13:49

I hope she helped you look

Totally knackered here today. I've finally and inevitably caught Sabela's cold and just want to SIT.

Should be doing some menu planning, but as DD seems to really liek the food DH cooks, I may just leave it with him.....

simpson · 16/03/2010 15:55

LaT - sorry you are so knackered...

Have bitten the bullet and thrown out all DD's bottles.

I switched her to a bottle shaped thing with soft spout about 6mths ago but its still really a bottle tbh.

Sooo tonight we are going hardcore and she is having a tommy tippee hard spout beaker type one (was the only one I could find with ozs on the side as she is still ff)

Fingers X

Also J has parents eve at 6...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 16/03/2010 16:07

Hahahahha... Filly nearly fell off the sofa. Every time still feels like an achievement I have to talk about I promise I will calm down soon.

Hello all... have read everything and reatined very little so will post back later.

gingeme · 16/03/2010 16:41

Afternoon all. Thanks for all the get well messages for George. He is fine and slept well last night and eaten as usual today . He was the perfect child at playgroup today. This is unusual for him as its usualy so many toys so little time and usualy ends up with him fighting or hitting another dc but he was sharing and caring today [smie]
I spent the afternoon with my Mum today going round the charity shops. Mostly looking for summer stuff for David. I'm pretty sure they don't do as many kids stuff as they used to. Only managed to get him a light waterproof coat for when the weather gets a bit better.
Got myself a couple of nice tops too

simpson · 16/03/2010 18:45

Gingeme - glad George is better Hope none of the other boys get it...

Can I have a proud moment??

Just got back from J's parents evening which went really well

Unlike the last one back in Oct when they did not say one positive thing about him

This time they said his numeracy and reading is above his age level!!(which I am v proud of esp as he is Aug baby)

His writing does need a bit of help though but not worryingly iyswim just "normal" whatever that is

She said he joins in well and makes friends easily

Just got M to bed now and she is exhausted bless her as she is used to going to bed at 6ish.

We had no battle over the bottle and she drank 4ozs of milk from her her beaker

Lilyloo · 16/03/2010 19:11
