Been offline for a week, so just waving to say "hello" quickly...am going to try to catch up now, but past experience suggests that by the time I finish reading a weeks' worth of posts I'll be miles behind all over again....

Anything I need to know??

fillybuster · 25/02/2010 15:36

OK, sort of caught up but can't remember enough specifics, so sorry if I miss something...

JKS - might be worth parking the toilet training with T for a few weeks, then starting again without too much fuss? That can stop it becoming too much of a control issue and gives him some time to think about it.

LaT & Ange - ds was too tall to sit comfortably on a potty and got very distraught when we first tried. We found the bigger 'throne' style potties worked better for him and best of all was sticking an 'inner' seat under the main toilet seat (to make it smaller/more comfortable) and putting him straight onto the loo. He really preferred that and actually its easier, as you avoid having to clean out potties!!! If you do this, don't forget to buy a step, so that they can sit comfortably and feel secure when they're up there.

Started toilet training with Tamara this week in earnest. Still in pullups (going to switch to knickers the weekend after this one) but she's starting to get the hang of it. Or at least, she's stopped arguing so much about sitting on the potty (we're using the thrones!) and has done a reasonable number of wees. And she has started noticing and getting upset when she does wees in her pullups. She still doesn't care about poos tho except when they smell....

Her talking has finally kicked in really properly as well - we're suddenly getting full sentences and some story telling about what she's done that day etc. I love it when I come home and she tells me straightaway she's been naughty and didn't eat her dinner or something.... Her speech is still fairly unclear, so I don't always understand everything she says, and she gets frustrated by that, but its really improving....

Gingeme - which swimming pool has those pipes? That sounds great!

WST - hope the positives of the trip back to Holland are helping to counter-balance the bad stuff?

MixedMama -so sorry to hear about your gran Was by your 'quite enjoying afternoon at ILs' comment and am so so so pleased your dh is being supportive....finally!!

Hollyoakds - that must have been scary, glad everything is ok

at Lucky - hope you're feeling ok?

Nicky - I think I can come on 3rd now, but where are we meeting? My sciatica is an absolute nightmare, so if it was somewhere I could drive to/park near I'd be very grateful...

OK, had better go and do some real work now...I know I've missed someone important...sorry!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 25/02/2010 17:28

Just a quick one to ay hi. My kitchen and batroom have been ripped out and are int he process of being replaced and have had the week off to study so havent had much time.

Will look forward to the meet up if it still happens to be near uni, otherwise wll see you all next time.

A little news, my period is now 6 days late and I am never late always between 28-31 days so fingers crossed. I am tempted to test today but if I am pregnant I doubt it will show yet. But fingers crossed from everyone please.

IWST if you are reading thinking of you.

JKS - sorry about the group, hopefully they will suggest something ele.

Ginge - well done on Slimmer of the Week.

JustKeepSwimming · 25/02/2010 20:48

Hi all

Lily - hope you can help her through this horrible time.

Mixedm - best of luck!!!!
(prob not ttcing until May at this rate)

not much more success with T really, though he was excited to 'finish' a wee standing up at the toilet 'like Daddy'

Took H to a new group 'heuristic play' today, was ok as i know most of the mums already but he didn't really play with anything. Maybe he'll get better...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 26/02/2010 12:17

period arrived yesterday evening. No idea why I was late as that never happens, but oh well. I was coming to the point of wondering how to structure my modules at uni to least impact blah blah blah, everything is firmly flexible so as long as (all things being well) we do have a baby by July 2011 all will be well. Onward.

Lily - sorry things are stll difficlut.

JKS glad the other group was nicer and he probably will interact more with time wont he.

fillybuster · 26/02/2010 15:03

Lilyloo - I missed your update about your sister, that must be so hard for you (and her), especially at such a critical time Hope you're managing ok and getting a bit of 'breathing' time in too?

MM Sorry...hopefully next month...

LaTrucha · 26/02/2010 15:11

Mixedmama- sorry for the disappointment this month. It leaves you feeling flat, doesn't it? Good attitude though

Lily - how are things today?

Being rubbish at catching up. SOrry. Cold still around here, DD not sleeping well either. ALso, my best friend's father has just died after a short, sudden illness. It was the same thing as my mum, though not an alcoholic - just diabetic. Not even a heavy drinker. He didn't really have any warning though and it's just awful. She's the one who lost her baby recently too. Stirred up a lot of things baout mum too.

Need advice on an ebay thing. I bought some jeans and paid from them. I got a receipt and thought all was well but heard nothing until I got a request for p[ayment. I checked Paypal and the money remained unclaimed. I contacted the seller and she asked me to pay to another address and cancel the old payment, which I did yesterday (jsut after she asked me). I've got receipt again. This morning she has opened a case against me for non-payment . I checked Paypal again and again the amount is unclaimed. I've written back to her explaining that the same thing has happened again. The message I wrote was just on the antsy side of factual and I asked her to sheck her Paypal was working. It is presuambly her fault as my Paypal is working and hers doesn't seem to be. I'm really peed off. Is there anything else I shoudl do. I know I should have been nicey pie in the message, but I didn't feel like it!

Lilyloo · 26/02/2010 17:57

mixedm sorry it wasn't this month!

LaT sorry to hear about friend On the ebay front have you contacted them ? It is obv problem on her behalf , or go into answer centre see if there any advice there ?

Bit better day today , managed to find a house for sis Not great timing but no option. She due in just over week which will prob coincide with moving but at least she has somewhere to live!! I am still her transport for now though as exp has taken the car so doing 4 school runs and 2 nursery runs a day!!
Thank goodness for weekend tom , my lovely bf has also rung and is taking me out for tea

JustKeepSwimming · 26/02/2010 18:24

Mixedm - , onwards and upwards, fingers crossed for next time

Lily - blimey, you've really taken a lot on atm, her xp does not sound very thoughtful...

LaT - i don't know re the ebay thing.
I've got myself into what feels like an awkward situ on there too, bought a dress listed as "Red dress - Coast size 8" so i bid on it thinking it was a Coast dress.
It arrived, i tried it on, it fits, it's lovely & flattering, then i look at the label - Debut, which i know is Debenhams, which is fine but not what i thought i was bidding on IYKWIM?
So i left positive feedback then thought about it a bit more, and when through the 'reporting an item' process for misleading title.
No feedback from seller as yet
oh well.

um, mind gone blank, T doing amazingly well with toilet stuff today, i'm stunned
hope it continues tomorrow....there is hope!

simpson · 27/02/2010 13:03

JKS - glad T doing well with no nappies

Lilyloo - glad your sister has got new place.

LaT - I would have done the same as you re e bay I think...

WST - glad you got home ok...

Mixedmama - sorry it has not happened this month...

Hope Hollyoaks os ok, last I heard she had been in hosp...

Hi to everyone else

Having lazy day today although am getting loads of washing done etc.

Right, need some advice....

Have decided that kids will not be going to Ireland again and don't think there is any point in them having their aunts, uncles, cousins etc in their life.

H has been gone for 9mths now and have not had one phone call from H's family asking how kids are etc (admitedly when it was Xmas/birthdays etc pressies were brought over with H)

So...AIBU to stop contact??

The thing is I am sooo and about it as the DCs deserve better and tbh they should be honoured to be in their life iyswim.

Part (ok all ) wants them to know what they have lost iyswim because of their behaviour but maybe that is me being mean??

Tried to speak to H about it yesterday (on his weekly call to kids) and he just went silent then started talking about himself ie totally useless

The other (selfish??) part of me is because my parents said they would take kids over once a yr to Ireland so I get 4 or 5 days to myself but if I stop contact obv. I won't get that

Also when kids were in Ireland last Nov H's whole family promised to make effort regarding Dcs etc (ha that lasted long ) and my mum now thinks they are all taking the p**s out of my familys good will iyswim (ie waiting for us to make effort while they do nothing, although admitedly some will spend time with Dcs when they are there)...

Sorry, rant over ...

LaTrucha · 27/02/2010 19:24

Too zonked to catch up (bf training today).

BUT 50% off lovely expensive wooden toys here

willsurvivethis · 27/02/2010 21:12

Hi all

Back home

Brain mudh, I have read but not much stuck other than MM no joy this month , Gingeme slimming really well and Lily being a fab SIL . Have caught up with JKS and Simpson already

Nathan had a fab time with his grandparents and for that reason I felt a pang of sadness going home but I was desperate to be back here, in my own home with the support of my friends, although I'm still frozen inside, still sinking in.

Spoke to the police on Tuesday, meeting with two inspectors, on my own (in case they needed dh as witness later) and tape recorded (!).

Had to talk about the kind of horrid detail I have barely even thought about. They then suggested I take a lot of time to think. It is a very old and very difficult case, pressing charges would involve half a day of giving statements and be vey painful. They would ring me in a few weeks. They rang the next day to say I am too late to bring a case (statutory limitations), they found him, his nose is totally clean, he is off sick and unlikely to ever teach again so I don't need to worry about him having access to kids.

I'm totally shell shocked that it is over already. Can't get my head round it. Guess just need some time now to sort things out.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 28/02/2010 13:30

IWST - welcome back. Not sure what to say about that other than I hope in time the fact that you have done it brings you some closure and som peace... sorry not very useful.

I have to go and do dutiful DIL bit later as my (horrid) BIL has started marriage proceedings andthe girls famly are returnig my ILs visit and as head DIL I need to be present. I am holding onto the great day we had their last week and trying to keep positive but this is an official engagement so there will be xpectations. They are already slightly as S has his little bday party (Pizza Express as per Gingeme cusggetsion a while back) till 5pm, so now I have to make my entrance on my own as DH is working till 6pm.

gingeme · 28/02/2010 15:34

hi all just a quicky - are we all on for wednesday we just need to find somewhere to meet.........come on ladies HELP ...................HELP.........HELP.

WHO is coming???

LaTrucha · 28/02/2010 21:04

Nicky - did you see what I posted from my friends on colic?

LaTrucha · 28/02/2010 21:05

Not colic - reflux?

Hollyoaks · 01/03/2010 09:50

Hi all

Sorry I've not been on in a while, came out of hospital after having early contractions to 'rest' only to go back to work and Ofsted to ring. It wouldn't have been too bad if we hadn't failed last year and were given a years notice to improve. If we failed this time we would have been in special measures, so needless to say we were under lots of pressure from Monday when the call came till Thursday evening when we got the result. Thankfully the notice to improve was lifted and the relief after an awful year was immense. Just a shame I can't enjoy the celebratory drinks on our staff night out next week.

WST - not sure of your full story but from what I can pick up you've made an incredibly brave decision and done very well in coming forward and informing the police. He needs to be punished for what he's done.

Simpson - hope all is well with you and your soon to be xdh is not causing any grief for you or your dc.

Gingeme - hope your feeling better.

MDM - good luck for next month. My fingers are crossed.

LaT - hope the pg is going well, the weeks are flying over and its getting scarily close to the end.

Sorry of I've missed anyone out, hope your all well. Enjoy the meet-up this week.

gingeme · 01/03/2010 15:02

Hi all
Hollyoaks did you just say you had to rest? Then you said you went to work !! Good news about the report though
Nicky ? Meet up? What time? Ill be at SW for 9.30 - 10. George isnt at pre school that morning because its closed for training. Let us know thanks.
I went to a fancy dress hire shop this morning to get some ideas and prices. Its not till November but I like to shop around. Will check out Ebay too. Ive decided to do a princess and pirates party. Itw as going to be 70s but there will be children there so will be quite difficult to find outfits for them. Then I thought Disney but the lady in the shop said there is copyright with Disney outfits, you learn something new every day so they dont do many Disney ones.
Anyway I have quite a bit of time yet.
Ive ordered loads of new books from Davids Book Club for the boys. Will sort out their books to take to school as they need them for ks1 and ks2 library
Well thats about it from me. Hope you are all well. xx
