Hello lovely ladies. I was just looking for recommendations for hotels for our wedding anniversary and it occured to me that I haven't been on this thread forever! I have caught up with a couple of pages and it is v.reassuring to see that my DS is not the only little monkey. We have been on hols for 2 weeks and he has decided to coordinate this with terrible 2s! Feels like a constant battle of wills and my will is not always equal to his! But I am glad that they are all growing up happy, healthy and headstrong!

My DS really resists sleep now but, if I can keep him awake all day, he will sleep all night. Backing to holding hands with him at bedtime though (grrr - see above!).

My lovely friend has taken him off my hands for the afternoon so I should be whispering sweet nothings in DH's ear but instead I am surfing and he is snoozing!

Greedygirl · 29/07/2010 17:08

P.s. lol re the TV LOM, I have several friends who this has happened to! My DH keeps muttering about needing a bigger TV which is nonsense and I will cheerfully shove the controls up his bottom if he dares!

RGPargy · 29/07/2010 21:37

Sorry you are suffering a bit LOM. Hope it improves for you at the weekend.

Has anyone elses DCs been complaining of hurting teeth? DD's molars are all through (i think!) but lately she has gone off her food and has been saying that her teeth are sore at the back. I am wondering if it's because her molars are pushing their way a bit further down through her gums as they grow bigger and might be giving her grief??

Talking of Waitrose, I've just ordered my first online delivery with Ocado in the hope that it will be a vast improvement on Asda. There's nothing wrong with Asda's non-perishables but if you order fresh fruit, veg and bready items, they are always disappointing because they are either on the turn, squashed or just on the sell-by date. The great thing i am impressed with so far is the wide range of time slots available for delivery! I have booked a slot for between 7.30 and 8.30am!!

Are Ocado very expensive because that is the impression you get but I would like to try them.

Loopy - very sorry that your period has shown up. Not sure what all the acronyms mean? But I know that even a month seems an unbearable amount of time when you are TTC, especially after your loss so fingers crossed for next month.

Went for a meal last night with DH but after ordering the main courses he fell ill (passed out in toilets!) and they only blinking well charged us for the lot! Lee hadn't even touched his. Let us take it home like but I will not be in a rush to return. Maybe this should be on the AIBU thread. Just think that charging 10 for a meal that hasn't been touched and unlikely to be eaten given the circumstances is a bit mean.

Hi all, a busy first week of the holifays here, but I am loving spending time with dd in particular. Had a night out last Thursday, got hideously , passes out on the sofa and woke up at 6am still clothed and with contact lenses in - not pretty! I followed it up by throwing up in a car park at lunchtime when out for lunch with friends - none of whom were suffering as badly as me! Thank goodness William was at nursery and dd was at school as I would have struggled to look after them

Anyway, I have had a very sedate week, taking dd on long walks, meeting up with friends and having lots of fun with William. On Tuesdaty he said 'william' as opposed to 'diddum' which is how he's prnounced his name up until now, which is both lovely nd a bit sad as he's growing up! He has picked up a lot of dd's phrases recently, his favourite is 'that's not very fair'!

Lom- I feel your pain, I had sciatica when pg with dd, it was awful, I hope your pain can be eased.

Greedy - I would be really angry with the restaurant, I think you should contact the manager and complain
Nice to have you back!

Loopy - for you, have an unmumsnetty hug! It's litte consolation I know, but having had 3 dds already at least you know everything works, it's just a matter of timing. Will you be getting back to nature on your camping trip then ?

Oh, and on the sleep thing, William didn't fall asleep until 10;13 tonight I'm flying solo as dh is on a boys' weekend with his friends from childhood so I've borne the brunt of it.

Loopy - soooo not pretty, but friends thought it hilarious and said I clearly don't get put enough I hope you enjoy your evening, special occasion or just because?!
I am up already as dcs are wide awake so we're all lying in my bed watching tv, which is actually quite nice, well it was unti William pulled dd's hair...

Thanks Loopy for the explanations! I hope that camping leads to SWI, I never sleep very well when camping so you might as well do something productive...

Lol at your defence of Waitrose, I once did a shop there and made my DH look at every item and guess how much it cost to demonstrate that it cost about the same as other supermarkets but I do tend to spend more there, must be the browsing effect. Will try Ocado, must time delivery so I can laugh at DH when the van turns up and has panic attack!

I wish I had been bit more assertive with restaurant at time. Will probably just go round moaning about them to anyone who will listen, the taxi driver last night got an ear bashing!

I had a night out myself last night but no up-chucking this morning - Jetgirl!

jetgirl · 31/07/2010 21:56

Oh Loopy , I didn't think, I can be a bit dense sometimes.

Greedy - if it's any way to restore my slightly tarnished reputation, it was my first hangover in 2 1/2 years! It was the first time I've thrown up in such a public place though. Dh relished telling my mum, but then when we were in our first year at uni he sent my parents a photo of me on my 19th birthday, hugging a toilet bowl! We weren't even dating then!

RGPargy · 31/07/2010 22:47

Loopy - sorry AF showed up Hope you are enjoying getting stupidly drunk tonight and you dont suffer too much in the morning! Hope you have better luck next month.

Greedy - that is SHOCKING re the restaurant!! I would deffo complain!!

Jet - PMSL at your hangover!!! If it's any consolation, i was in a similar state when my friend came to see me from Bristol about a year ago. I hadn't seen her in so long that we just drank copious amounts of wine and boy oh boy, did i suffer the next day! Up-chucks and everything!!!

My Ocado delivery was absolutely superb! All the fruit and veg was spot on - much better than i could even pick myself in Asda! Great quality and in perfect condition. The delivery guy brought my shopping into the kitchen for me (all part of their service) and explained their colour coded carrier bags too lol. There was only one teeny tiny thing that i was very slightly disappointed with and that was a loaf of bread had a sell by date of 2 days time. That was it so i'm really happy!!

DD seems back to normal now after going off her food for at least a week and being generally whiney and miserable. She is growing up soooo fast now and when you talk to her, she actually stops to think about what she's saying and says it slowly and clearly so that you understand what she is talking about. So sweet.

littleoldme · 01/08/2010 19:35

Greedy - that is pretty terrible. Hope your Dh is feeling better. perhaps you could leave a crappy review on Toptable or Trip Advisor , or tell them you will if they don;t refund the cash.

Loopy - Sorry about AF turning up - rubbish.

Saw the osteo yesterday who worled her usual magic. Also got taken out for pizza by a lovely friend so I'm feeling much happier now.

The physio was a bit rubbish but she did give me some crutches. I don't intend to use them but if anything does go wrong when I'm on my own with T , I at least should be able to move.

Loopy - no major tantrums here yesterday but lots of sulks and huffs and commands "don't say that!". Can't even look at him the wrong way at the moment! But I feel a lot of it is down to the fact that we are not letting him sleep during the day as he is a nightmare going to bed otherwise so I feel a bit mean.

RG - I know exactly what you mean! I love it when Adam is trying to explain something and you can see all the cogs going around, is gorgeous.

LOM - Did I mention that they wrapped the food up for us? Cos I think that it would be hard to moan now that we actually took the food away although DH's went straight in the bin - scampi is not what you fancy when you are barfing! I did say not to wrap his up as he was too sick but they brought it anyway. I might have a look on Trip Advisor and see what other people have written. Glad you are feeling better.

I made an amazing cheesecake last night! In a bain marie and everything. Shame you can't all have a slice!

febes · 02/08/2010 13:10

8 days till we move arhhhhhh. DH has been in Manchester working since thursday and the kids are driving me mad now. Luckily he is home tonight.

DS has 2/3 new back teeth coming thrugh and was out of sorts yesterday. He didn't nap at all and took an hour and a dose of magic calpol to sleep last night but then went all night and seems better today.

I am trying to find a DVD of DDs current obsession 'Come Outside' with Pippin and Aunty Mabel at the moment as we have loads of episodes on sky + for her which she watches when R naps during her 'quiet time'. But they don't make them anymore!!!!! Thank goodness for you tube.

jetgirl · 07/08/2010 09:39

A quiet week on here! We've been to center parcs for a few days with the in-laws and have all survived Grin I did a tree trekking thing, which seemed like a good idea when i booked up, but once I was 13 metres above the ground I wasn't so sure!! However, I did it, and by the end of it quite enjoyed it and was quite proud of myself. I spent the whole way round saying to myself 'I've given birth twice, this has to be easier'!! William had a tummy bug so couldn't go swimming every day, but DD had a great time.

Loopy - I just love 'Rev', it's so funny and, yes, definitely accurate. We had all those characters at my dad's last parish Grin. I love Tom Hollander too.

LOM - hope you're feeling a bit brighter now.

Greedy - I've never done a cheesecake using a bain-marie before. What kind of recipe was it? Sounds lovely!

febes - how's the packing going? I hate that part of moving the most. Good luck with it all!

RG - it's lovely when they get really chatty isn't it? William is going through a singing phase at the moment, baa baa black sheep and twinkle twinkle little star on a loop!

Greedy - taking the food away is not the point though is it? When you go out you want to eat it fresh, not heated up in the microwave at home. As a gesture of goodwill at the very least they should still refund you. And I bet you missed out on dessert - the best bit IMO!

Greedygirl · 07/08/2010 17:52

Jetgirl - you are very brave! I have become more and more of a wimp about heights. I had to go on a bouncy slide with Adam recently and felt very sick when I looked down!

Good luck with the move Febes!

I had another girly night last night but have felt really, really tired and crabby today and my DH decided it was the perfect day to go and buy a car and have lots of chats about cars and finances - yuk! I am so not interested in cars.

RGPargy · 08/08/2010 16:40

Hi ladies. Just bookmarking! :o

jetgirl · 13/08/2010 14:28

Should be working, DD is at a friend's house and William is at nursery, but I am wasting time on facebook and mumsnet instead!

RGPargy · 13/08/2010 15:23

Same here!! It's dead quiet in the office today and although i have a couple of bits and bobs to do, i really CBA!! I would just love to go home right now but unfortunately there's no such thing as sloping off early in this job. :(

Greedygirl · 13/08/2010 15:58

Lol, same here, counting down the minutes even though I have loads to do. How is everyone getting on with potty training? Adam still doesn't seem to recognise when he needs a wee and I have been very laid back about it all and now wondering if I need to be a bit more pro-active? We have a couple of potties and I have them out and remind him to have a try if he needs it but he just wees on his feet then looks puzzled!

jetgirl · 13/08/2010 22:39

Greedygirl - I ask William if he wants to sit on his potty every morning and he refuses, he refuses every time I mention it and I am not pushing it. I think I stressed about it too much with dd and consequently it is only in tje past week that she has stopped wearing nappies at night, and she is 5 in a week and a half Shock William will ask to sit on it at bathtime, stays there for ages, nothing happens then he stands up and wees on the floor looking totally bemused by it all! I have bought him a very cute book about a pirate using the potty and am going to try and read it every time he does go on the potty. I just can't wait to be nappy free!

Greedygirl · 14/08/2010 20:31

I seem to be surrounded in RL by toddlers with perfect bladder control! It becomes hard not to compare after a while doesn't it?! And being nappy free would be lovely and much less expensive. Anyway, I like the idea of a storybook that I can sneak in at bedtime, I'll look out for one.
