Loopy - how awful, I'm thinking of your friend and her family

Jarm - lovely to see you again - and Greedygirl too - it's like a reunion!

LOM - hope T is feeling better today, how scary for you.

I spent yesterday in London with my mum and sister. It was lovely, we did the V and A and had lunch at the Royal Albert Hall. They have a very nice cafe there which was quiet, not pricy and the service was very good. It's our secret though, we don't want it getting busy for when we go again I'm sharing it with you lovely ladies for when you want a day in London and somewhere nice to eat! Just mooching about today

DanJARMouse · 04/07/2010 09:52

Hi girls!

Wondered how many of you would remember me!

We are all doing well, recently moved from Suffolk to the Scottish Highlands to give the kids the life I want for them, where they can grow up being kids rather than under house arrest

DD1 is 6 in 3 weeks time, which is really scary, and DD2 starts school in august!

Daniel is a little monster! Love him so much, and he amazes me every day, but he is so destructive! He is very much a boy, and if only I had known what little boys were like before I had him

He isnt particularly grown up yet, still had his dummy, still in nappies and his speech isnt fantastic yet, but he is growing well - already in age 3-4 clothes!

I really cant believe our "babies" are starting nursery after Christmas! Daniel has morning sessions from January! So scary!!!!

Loopy - how sad for your friend

How did the op go for your cat? Good news, i hope?

Welcome back to the thread Jarm! DD still has her dummy too (much to my despair!) and i think it might be a little while yet before she is ready to give it up.

Woohoo!!!! i have booked flights for my sister and i to go and see my mum in Spain at the end of August!! I haven't seen my mum since DD's first birthday, so that's 18 months ago now! Cannot wait to see her and i'm very excited that my sister was bullied has agreed to come too, despite her fear of flying. We are only going for a long weekend, just the two of us. I couldn't go for longer because it would mean DP would have to have time off work to look after DD, but also i would miss DD far too much. does a little excited jig

Good news re your cat Loopy (although not good news about the ££££££!). My bloomin' cat has taken it upon herself to abscond every time i am in the house, so that i dont chuck a tablet down her throat. She has to have steroids daily but has missed the last 2 days because she has been hiding outside somewhere and wont come in til we're all out during the day or we are in bed at night. Little bugger. It's almost like she just wants to be left alone to die or something!

re your friend I cant imagine how she must be feeling

Interesting comment re the dummy. She's soooo dependent on them atm, although we have now introduced bans on her using them in certain places, i.e. no dummies in the bathroom anymore (she has dropped 2 dummies down the loo which went straight in the bin, much to her utter utter despair!), no dummies in the garden and nursery dont allow dummies either (thank goodness!). Also when i take her to creche, they normally whip her dummy away when they can (at my request) and she doesn't have it while she's there unless she asks for it. It's a start i suppose!

at your DD!! This made me crack up yesterday. DP was in the bathroom with DD and he was going for a wee. DD was looking intently at DP having a wee and on seeing him holding his willy, said "Hold on tight!" It had us both in stitches for hours afterwards. It just really made me chuckle.

The passport agency has now taken their dosh from my debit card so my passport is well and truly being processed now! Espana is now a little bit closer!!

Talking of Spain, i have to say i am really chuffed that they beat Germany in the semi final last night!! Should make a great final on Sunday - cant wait to watch it!

febes · 08/07/2010 13:52

Cute DCs!!
A was pointing out DSs willy one day in the bath and I asked her where her willy was and she looked in front and then looked at her bum and said 'it's gone!!'

RG RE the dummy situation. A sucks her 2 middle fingers and does it all the time. At least with a dummy you can eventually enforce some rules on where she has it. I'll never be able to take As fingers away. I think they still need lots of reaasurance at this ageso whether it be fingers, dummy, boob or whatever not to worry too much.

jetgirl · 08/07/2010 23:06

I'm writing this using my new sony ericsson xperia - I love it!
I sucked my thumb until I was 10,but my children have never sucked their fingers or thumbs. William still has boob obsession even though I stopped feeding him 8 months ago. He just loves sticking his hand down my top for comfort
We had dd's parents' evening today, she has exceeded all her targets and is already working at level one in writing and numeracy so I am very proud!
I was the parent we whinge about in the staff room - I had a list of questions I wrote after reading her report.
Loopy - hope the cat is on her road to recovery now!

Both William and dd constantly make me laugh. I had made watercress and cheese muffins yesterday and dd came into the kitchen and declared, very dramatically 'i don't know what you're cooking, mummy, but it smells deeeelicious!' Then when I told her she bluntly said 'oh, i don't like them.' William rolls his eyes and says 'oh my god!' when he's told it's bed time

RGPargy · 08/07/2010 23:16

Febes - yes, at least a dummy can be disposed of! My sister used to suck her thumb for years and years and when i was born (she's only 2 years older than me), she told me to suck my thumb too, which i did, and continued to do so until i was..... erm...... 15!!! Thankfully it didn't affect my teeth in any way, but my sister's teeth are very slightly "buck". My friend's DD has been sucking her thumb ever since she was a baby (she's 3 now) and her teeth have a huge gap in the middle of them where her thumb has pushed her teeth apart. The dentist has given my friend a good ticking off about it, but i dont suppose there's alot she can do about it, other than taping the girl's arms to her sides or something!!

Talking of boobs, if DD comes into bed with me in the mornings when i'm naked she will quite often try to fiddle with my nipple lol. She hasn't had my boobs since she was 6 months old!!

Jet - glad you like your new phone!

LOL @ the DC stories! Keep them coming!

RGPargy · 08/07/2010 23:17

I should point out that i only used to suck my thumb at such an old age when i was in front of the TV - not when i was out and about with my friends......

febes · 08/07/2010 23:55

My brother sucked his thumb until he was 14 and my sister 11. I didn't but I was the only one with slightly buck teeth and I ended up having braces. Not fair.

They would surely avoid putting DD1 & 2 in the same class wouldn't they. Have you been in to express your concerns?

I am now a mere puddle of former self.
I ended up getting back to sleep at about 4!

Hope you manage to sort out DDs school. Sounds stressful but IME the parent who shouts loudest gets heard. It does bug when they won't move kids who are quiet , don't complain but are miserable where they are; whereas eveyone moves mountains to accommadate those with 'behavioural' issues.

Went to see a playschool with Tom last week. I'm gutted, it really isn't right. No enthusiastic kids running uo show me stuff, no staff introducing themselves and a distinct lack of engagement with the kids. One worker was complaining to me aout parents complaining - very unprofessional.

I spoke to some Mums who said that isn;t great but their kids are happy there despite inital reservations. I was hoping Tom could go two mornings a week but to look after kids and only do half a job seems like such a shame. T also isn't used to being away from me so I have know he's getting good care.

Initially I thought I maybe being PFB but the more I think about it the less happy I am.
Feeling very nervous about and energetic T and newborn all winter.

I'm going to have a look at another on Weds am and I've got another one to call. I was banking on him getting a place in the school nursery in Jan but it does look like he may have to wait until Sept.

Currently finishing the last of my gcse papers...
