All this talk of holidays - DP and I realised last night that we only have 3 weeks until we go on holiday!! We are not going anywhere exotic or interesting - we are going to a large cottage in teh middle of nowhere in Suffolk, which is about 10 mins "stroll" to the beach and has about an acre of land too. We were initially meant to be going with the PIL but MIL has a bit of an anxiety condition which means that if anything is out of the norm and slightly stressy, she will stress about it and get ill, if that makes sense. So we dont know what's happening now, although there was talk of us taking the first part of the week and then PIL meeting up with us and coming for the second half. No idea if we're actually still going away or what now!!

Febes - happy birthday to DS!

Loopy - so sorry to read your news I do think it's important to acknowledge the 6th member of your family and I hope it helps all of you. My dad ( vicar) did a number of ceremonies like this when he worked in a parish even though it's not the norm, he always felt it helped the families in some small way.

I have been inspired by the success of RG, febes and Loopy with the potty training, so William and I went out potty shopping last week. he chose a tombliboos potty, a Thomas step stool for the bathroom and spiderman pants. So we get home and I say 'Do you want to try your potty William?' 'Yes mummy!!!' very excited, pulls down his trousers, rips off his nappy and then he sits on it, bit nothing fits in, if you know what I mean I just couldn't angle his willy to go into the potty, so I'm going to have to research how to potty train boys! He has also now totally lost interest in the potty and so we're going to put it off for another few weeks.

we still don't have a holiday sorted, I want to book a cottage in Devon, so we can spend some time with my brother and generally get out and about, but the inlaws want to do centreparcs again. We liked it, but I'm not sure I want to go on holiday with the inlaws again, and I see my brother so rarely, we see the inlaws about once a month, that I would really like the kids to get to know their uncle a bit better. I foresee a storm brewing on the horizon here... Where in west Wales are your folks, Loopy? I went to uni in Lampeter and have fond memories of trips Aberaeron and Newquay.

My sister has come back from Australia for a few months. We didn't tell my mum she was coming back, and I surprised her with special guest at her birthday lunch - it was brilliant.

I'll try not to leave it so long next time - my Media studies class have their final exam next week, so the stress will be off after then!

Jet - T has shown great interest in the loo today; I found him chewing the mucky end of the loo brush. Very bad.

jet - let me know how the research goes. I'm determined to get T started soon. he enjoys making his teddy trump so that's hoefully a good sign

Loopy - We were sending you vibes yesterday X You sound like you have a wonderfully together family.

BUGGER! I haven't sorted the E111 as we have full travel insurance. I now discover we should have them but it's too late to sort it out. I'm sure we used to just go and fill something in at the post office.
Is it very do you think ?

I just checked with our travel ins and they don't require us to have it. My main concern is that I can get an anti d jab if I need it.

Right, better go and finsih the packing. Have a good week everyone.

Loopy Glad you got some decent sleep. Those must have been some great drugs !!!Keep looking after yourself. Your holidays sound fab.

Nearly 2 weeks into potty training and DD is doing all wees in the potty or toilet even if we are out. BUT all poos in pant still. I'm going to get her a sticker chart this weekend (and loads more pants ).

Rs birthday was lovely. We had a birthday tea in the garden. I had lots of bubbly wine to make up for Anabel's first birthday when I was PG .

RGPargy · 21/05/2010 12:11

Hi everyone.

Loopy - your family sound lovely. Hope the ceremony went well in the circumstances. Dont forget to look after yourself.

DD is doing brilliantly with potty training now. In fact i would go as far as saying that her training is now complete and she is a fully fledged Toileteer! She has been dry at night 5 times out of 6 too (although still wearing pull ups just in case). However this comes at a price of lack of sleep for mummy as she keeps waking up at around 11pm to have a wee (or even a poo!). Last night she woke up at 2am and 5am for a wee but accordingly to MIL, she'd drunk 3 large cups of squash during the day as opposed to her normal one cup. Think the cup holds about half a litre so that's quite a bit for a little person to drink!

We had our first "good" session at the nursery on Tuesday. Last week she constantly asked for cuddles during the walk to nursery so this week I decided to carry her there in the ringsling so that she could cuddle me all the way there. When we got there and took her coat off, she started to get upset but i tried to ignore it and talk about other things etc and then i took her dummy and showed her i was putting it in my pocket and that i would keep it safe for her until i picked her up (they have a no dummy policy there). Although DD cried a little when i left, she was nowhere near as bad as she was last week and she went willingly to the lady who's been looking after her there and actually waved me off. When i got home i text the nursery to find out if she was still buried into the lady's shoulder and they told me she was playing happily on the slide! That was a HUUUUGE weight off my mind! She's been asking to go back there all week!! What a turnaround!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Loopy - I think DD was trying to use the potty herself in the bathroom because i heard her banging around with it and when i went in the bathroom to investigate, there she was with her pull ups and PJ bottoms around her ankles and she was wiping the dust out of the potty with a bit of loo roll! It did make me chuckle, bless her. I do think she would try and empty it down the loo tho so what i would really need is a step that is big enough step to enable her to sit herself on her little loo seat (we have one of those "Family" loo seats - the best thing since sliced bread IMO!).

If she keeps waking up like this night after night and/or waking up dry in the morning i might just do away withe the pull ups. I do begrudge throwing away a dry pull up in the morning. If i wasn't so anal i could always re-use it but i cant help thinking that it's just like wearing a pair of knickers two days in a row, i.e. not desirable!

Hmmm good point Loopy. I suppose I could re-use them.... She has a bath on alternate nights so she's mostly clean when i put them on lol. A week for each one?? Wow, good job!!

I'm tight too. If DD does wee in her pull up at nap time it gets put back on at night. She always does at night so I can't use them day after day (damn it ).

AIBU to be sipping my first glass of wine??? Its been a long week.

Oh now I'm feeling rubbish, DD who is 4 is still not dry at night, so there's no hope for Will yet is there?

One of my students has emailed me work to look at tonight - I had told the class I would gladly look at anything they did this weekend in preparation for their exam next week, but I wasn't expecting this particluar student to bother!

We went for a picnic on the common yesterday evening with a couple of other families. We were on the Pimms by 5pm - definitely not too early! Funny thing was, many of year 11 had the same idea and were a little surprised to see 3 of their teachers enjoying the nice weather. When they realised we had noticed the alcohol they were trying to hide as they wlked past us, they were very quiet and sensible until we departed at about 7pm. I'm quite sure they weren't after that though!

Same thing happened to us today Loopy. DD had a huge nap (nearly 3 hours!) and woke up at around 4.30pm. I put her up to bed at 7.45pm and she was STILL awake at 9.50pm!! I reckon she'd had a little snooze and then woke up again thinking it was the morning!

Nightmare!

We had our first fall down the stairs today. I was out the back in the conservatory and DD decided it would be a good idea to go up the stairs dragging her big etch-a-sketch type drawing board with her. I heard her ask where i was and then heard the stair gate go at the top of the gate. Next thing i heard was some bumping noises and her saying "mummy!!!". I rushed to the bottom of the stairs and there she was laying on her tummy. I think she scared me more than she was scared herself! Luckily she didn't hurt herself and had stopped crying within a few seconds so she must have slipped down rather than fall down (i hope!).
