Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

The zoo was lovely, we were a bit late getting up and didn't get to leave until 7.15 but luckily the roads were dead so we still made it here not long after 10 and stayed til almost 3... the kids had a ball, A was absolutely facinated by the rhinoes of all things so we bought him a little rhino cuddly. They were doing face painting in the bat and bird house so i now have a sparkly butterfly and a black, blue, orange and gold bat running around the house like lunatics

school morning tomorrow though and they're only just having dinner, oops

LittleMissNorty · 15/02/2010 08:52

Hi everyone....off to catch up

Elkie....hope you're ok. There is lots of different treatments these days....wait until Wednesday first. {{hugs}}

mumoverseas · 16/02/2010 04:51

hi everyone,
PT glad you had a good time at the zoo.
we are off to the (poor excuse of the) Riyadh Zoo today. Went last year when H was just about 10 days old and don't remember too much as doped up after CS. Thinking about it, thats probably how I overdid it and burst my stitches. Think there are around 150 of us going on 4 buses and it will be like boarding an easyjet/ryan air flight getting on I know a lot of women huff and puff at me taking up a seat with H's carseat as I refuse to have him on my lap but they can sodd off if they say anything today. Thankfully its 'nanny Nura' day as I normally do my signing classes on a Tuesday so Nura is coming as crowd control.

Elkie hope you are doing ok. x

SilveryMoon · 17/02/2010 06:50

Where is everyone????
Is dinky the glue that holds this group together????

We're all ok here, Jacob seems to be over his water infection now and back to his old self. Thank God.
Luke's still cruising and seems happy just doing that for now. He uses chairs and other toys that will move when pushed to get around.

Hope everyone's ok.

elkie Thinking of you and your mum today. Hope results come back ok.

LittleMissNorty · 17/02/2010 08:05

I'm here

Glad DS1 is back to normal SM - sounds like a nightmare last week!

Thinking of you today Elkie....

150 people on 4 buses to the zoo ...did you have a good time MOS?

Done a few miles on my exercise bike last night and I ache today I'm so unfit.

Right better do some work...

mumoverseas · 17/02/2010 08:32

Elkie hope all goes well today for your mum x

SM glad your little man is better.

LMN zoo was fun though buses were a nightmare. Around 45 mins each way which was hard work with all those excited children. Well done on exercise bike. I've just joined weight watchers online. Realised that now H is one I can't blame my blubber on 'baby weight' I lost 1 stone last summer but have put a few lbs on but aim to lose at least another stone by end of June when I return to the UK and then a stone (at least) over the summer.
Which will then all be put on when we go to Florida in October

dinky you are missed and we are falling apart without you. Hope you are having a fab holiday.

elkiedee · 17/02/2010 09:52

My mum now has a scan appointment for Monday. Still hoping news today - biopsy results - will be not too horrible. Whatever, we're going to have a lot of days of waiting for news (my mum, my brother and sister, her husband and his family (his daughters are distraught too).

And I'm so tired. I put off going to sleep because I expect to be woken up, then finally sleep very late, then we get woken up. Conor didn't demand a night feed but woke at 5 am.

I'm off work today, will take him to the children's centre to play this afternoon.

Thanks for all your kind messages.

katieblirdsnest · 17/02/2010 10:09

thinking of you today elkie. i'm sure your sleep is all over the place but remember to bank as much as you can when you can so even if you think you're going to be woken up you should try and get some zzzz's in anyway.

I has ANOTHER cough, well just a continuation of the general cough that he's had for about 3 months. it seems to always be there but ramp up to being partiuclarly bad every now and then. his breathing this morning was awful. tried to get to the doctors today but nothing available by the time i got through at 8.40am!

sm i'm so glad the water infection has cleared and things are much happier in your house. I is exactly the same with the cruising, very happy to scoot around holding on to whatever he can, standing on tiptoes and walking along playing all the notes on the piano etc but no sign of wanting to do it by himself.

good luck to MOS and LMN on the exercise and weight regimes. i've got to lose weight too. i was completely single minded for about 2 weeks, went to rome where of course i allowed myself to eat whatever i wanted and don't seem to have got myself back into quite the better eating mindset i was in.

TulipsInTheRain · 17/02/2010 11:05

katieblirdsnest · 18/02/2010 11:33

Hi elkie if you get a chance pop on and let us know how yesteday went.

i ended up in A&E wit I last night. he got croup but there was one point when he was really struggling to breathe, making a dreadful cry that i've never heard him make before and was sick but really strange thick sick. i called and they sent an ambulance, dp was out (headed straight back as soon as he heard) so i had to dash round to a neighbour to sit at ours for dd until dp got back. there was obviously a lot of sitting round at the hospital but they gave him steroids and then observed him for a couple of hours. in true putting it on fashion I completely perked up when we were at the hospital and wanted to be off and about playing! fingers crossed he won't be so bad tonight but i do gather it's likely to be a recurring problem for him now. i guess i'll have to get used to what's 'ok' croup and what's 'get him to a&e' croup. any experience anyone?

LittleMissNorty · 18/02/2010 11:58

OMG KBN that sounds so scary ...glad he is ok.x

TheHouseofMirth · 18/02/2010 12:35

Hi all! Thought I'd pop by and see how everyone is today. This time last year I was being sent home from hospital having been told I definitely wasn't in labour. 9 hours later Mr T was born!

Elkie sorry to hear about your mum. Hope you get some good news soon.

KBN hope I is better today. How worrying for you.

Mr T obviously can't stand the birthday excitement as he keeps randomly napping and DS1 is evil with jealousy...

TulipsInTheRain · 18/02/2010 12:55

gosh katie, i came on to whinge about A catching ds1's vomiting bug but sounds lik,e i have it easy compared to your night!

hope the steroids improve matters, i have no exerience of croup so fraid i have no helpful advice.

katieblirdsnest · 18/02/2010 14:20

happy birthday Mr T.

tulips feel free to whinge away, at least i didn't have sheets to change as I managed to do his puking all down me and i'm a lot easier to change than a cot.

TulipsInTheRain · 18/02/2010 14:55

A managed to get me, himself and the entire bed.... i had only just cleaned the bedclothes too! and to add insult to injury he also got the couch this morning which i had just spent a whole day scrubbing after ds1 did the exact same thing earlier in the week

Happy birthday to Mr.T hope he wakes up to enjoy the fun soon.... funnily enough my ds1 us suffering a bit with birthday jealousy too atm.... he can't understand why dd and A have had theirs but he hasn't had his (july baby)

SilveryMoon · 18/02/2010 16:51

littlesez Hope it all improves soon. Must be very difficult dealing with sleepless nights and working
kbn How frightening . They do say that once they've had croup they're likely to get it again and again.Luke has only had it once though and that was a good few months ago.
A friend of mine is a paramedic and told me to keep an eye on his chest, you need to be aware of whether the skin is being sucked into the spaces between his ribs. Also strains around the neck. If so call 999 straight away. She also said that if at any point you think there is something wrong with a baby or small child, just call 999, they will come out straight away and would rather it all be fine then too late iyswim.

Happy birthday MrT

LittleMissNorty · 19/02/2010 13:09

I've no experience of croup but it sounds scary!

Think DS has norovirus DH just collected him from nursery

SilveryMoon · 19/02/2010 15:40

LMN Hope he's ok.
I have no idea what norovirus is.....

SilveryMoon · 19/02/2010 17:24

I just deleted one of the old Fab febbers from my fb friends list.
I don't expect anyone to comment, but I'm assuming she doesn't read this anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I did ff both my boys, and I have no problem whatsoever with bf, but do I really need a daily post on bloody breastfeeding and how awful formula is?

LittleMissNorty · 19/02/2010 18:02

I done that ages ago SM

D&V bug....lucky me!

SilveryMoon · 19/02/2010 18:10

Lol LMN

Hope ds is ok. Poor littl man. Poor you too, hpe it clears soon. x

TulipsInTheRain · 19/02/2010 18:59

i must never have had that person on my FB in the first place! (lucky me by the sounds of it... love bf-ing my kids but don't feel the need to discuss it, not be told in detail about others feeding methods)

still living in the land of vomit and poo here... last night went roughly as follows

7.30... kids to bed
8.00... A fell asleep on dp's shoulder
9.00... ds1 woke up and was sobbing in bed and we brought him down and he spent half an hour writhing around the couch before deciding he wanted to go back up
9.45... A woke up and was awake til 12.15
12.30... went to bed which involved actually making the bed again as A had vomited all over it in the morning and we only have one set of bedclothes
approx 1/2 am... woke up to find ds1 in the bed with me sobbing... he kept crying because he wanted to go back to be ( it's not like i brought him in so why he was crying is anyones guess), told him he couldn't go in until he'd stopped making so much noise as he'd wake A so he proceeds to spend an hour rolling around my bedroom floor sobbing and moaning
approx 2/3 am... finally convince ds1 to shut up long enough to bring him back to bed and check on A to find he's sleeping in a pool of vomit... so have to wake him up to strip, clean and re-dress him and wake poor dd in the process.

of course he never goes back to sleep properly after that so i spend the rest of the night feeding and trying to keep him from crawling of the edge of the bed.

katieblirdsnest · 19/02/2010 19:49

lmn ugh at norovirus, hope he's ok and hope it doesn't spread like wildfire through you all.

sm er yes, i think i get your point! i have to admit i just scroll on past all of it and again, i bf both of mine but i'm not keen on any evangelical type parenting whatever it involves.

tulips that is a horrendous sounding night. my night in a&e sounds more relaxing than that!

I's croup is much better, he still has a cough but not the barking and wheeziness. hopefully he'll be fully recovered in time for his birthday next week.

TulipsInTheRain · 19/02/2010 20:19

LMN... missed that about ds's nasty d&v bug... hope it's a 24 hour one and he gets most of it on easily cleaned surfaces!
