Morning all - happy birthday for Milo for yesterday. Sounds like you had a nice day Rosie - shame DD3 put the scuppers on a meal out in the evening though.. bet you enjoyed the takeaway though.

MOS - go H with the walking! Sounds like he's finally on the mend - hope he's back on top form for his birthday!

SM - sounds like you had a nice day. Great that your FIL has seen the light with the boys. I cant believe how many disinterested inlaw- grandparents there are out there. Mind you, I come from a culture where a new baby is the entire family (on both sides) new baby so the total polar opposite - which can be pretty irritating too at times.

Tulips - at A mucking around with the neighbourhood kids! Danny is still v much a baby I think in that his interaction with other kids consists of crawling/pulling himself up over them and mugging them for food or toys...

Meant to be taking the boys to Dinosaurs Unleashed this morning but DS1 seems a bit under the weather so guess will need to play it by ear...

dinkystinky · 07/02/2010 20:35

Yoo hoo - anyone out there? Feeling rather lonely in among the tumbleweed

Did take DS1 to Dinosaurs Unleashed which he loved - Danny was rather bemused by it but enjoyed it I think. Is fab - would recommend it! Though try to go there on a less busy time....

rosieposey · 07/02/2010 20:53

Im here dinky Sounds like you have had a lovely day - my bloody back is aching, feet, arse ect ect lol ...

We have spent the whole day doing crappy diy and i have sorted out the junk room and unpacked a load of boxes that still needed doing. We cant put anything in the attic though because the builders need to fix a leak in our roof which is a bit annoying.

DH took Milo over the the IL's today to get his pressies and say hello (if im honest i do try and avoid them as much as poss so i cracked on here) and he seemed to have a nice time so that was good.

Am laughing at your description of Danny 'mugging' for food dinky as Milo does that all the time, the girls have taken to eating things out of his sight as he just really harrasses them for crap the lovely stuff that they like to snack on here and there.

dinkystinky · 07/02/2010 21:05

Glad Danny is not the only mini-mugger Rosie. My lovely sister came over this afternoon with an early birthday present for Danny - and some cupcakes her boyfriend had made - and Danny promptly ignored the presents and made a beeline for the cakes... definitely DH's son..

Well done you for sorting out your spare room! Very annoying that the roof leaks though - you really dont expect that on a new build!

rosieposey · 07/02/2010 21:26

Lol its on the boot up chip isn't it? Anything unhealthy or sweet and they are straight on it.

We have been waiting for a few weeks for them to come and fix it but they are off site now and starting a new one so we are going to have a bit of a wait methinks.

Yep glad we got that room done too, now just the study and the dining room to go! This is defininately the worst thing about moving house, and every time i say i am NEVER doing it again

SilveryMoon · 08/02/2010 07:44

Morning.
Luke chases Jacob around when J's got food!

dinky I'm going to google dinosaurs unleashed and see about going along.

Jacob's poorly again. Raging temp yesterday and last night. He has a foul smell coming from his mouth so I'm taking him to docs later to see if he has an infection.

mumoverseas · 08/02/2010 08:23

MY BABY IS ONE TODAY!
Where has the last year gone!

Thankfully he is 100% better today, reckon my mum has been looking over him and willing him to get better for his birthday. He had a decent sleep last night and was all happy and smiley this morning.

Have just baked him a chocolate cake and DD is going to 'help' put sprinklys on it later and then at 5pm we are going to the restaurant on our compound for tea and will take his cake there. Big party on Friday. DH will be home from work at 4pm so he will have his pressies then and hopefully ride his new bike to the restaurant (bike with adults pushing handle so we stand a chance of getting there)

SM sorry J is poorly and hope trip to gp sorts it out

dinkystinky · 08/02/2010 08:46

Happy birthday H! So pleased he's better for his birthday - hope this next year is a happy and healthy - and sleepfilled - one for you guys MOS.

SM - honestly, is well worth a trip to Dinosaurs Unleashed. Given J's age I think you'd only have to pay for the adults too so is bargainous. DS1 also ill - up all night coughing away and raging temperature this morning so he's off school today. Keeping my fingers crossed he's better in time for our holidays next week (flying out on Sat) and that Danny doesnt get it - especially as DH away with work Thursday to Saturday morning (need to pick him up from Heathrow on route to Gatwick - am praying his plane isnt delayed due to snow etc or else it all goes to hell in a handcart...)

Rosie - we're probably going to do building works in our house at the end of this year and have started steeling myself- and DH - to move out for 6 months so the builders can really blitz the project. Hate moving with a passion - though the pre and post move clear out you do is pretty cathartic

TulipsInTheRain · 08/02/2010 09:48

A slept 10.5 hours last night

i woke up at 6.30 when dd climbed into our bed and thought my left boob was going to explode! was so paniced i ran in and checked on him and then spent the next 1.5 hours lying there waitng for him to rouse. He was so cheerful when he woke too

Happy birthday H (and i think there's someone else today too or am i imagining that?), enjoy the day mos and good luck for friday

dinkystinky · 08/02/2010 10:11

of A's sleep Tulips! Between DS1's coughing and Danny's nocturnal shenanigans (which are still ongoing, just got bored with complaining about them) didnt get much sleep at all last night. Ho hum, what doesnt kill me will make me stronger - or whinier.. one of those two

rosieposey · 08/02/2010 10:55

Happy birthday H aww do you know i actually took some video footage of Milo over the weekend and i thought to myself 'he actually does look like a 1 year old' he is quite small for his age but he has a proper boys face and looks all toddlerish now.

Glad you got so much sleep last night Tulips thats ages what a good little baby

Dinky way back in April/May when we were considering our extension i can't believe how far we have come, yesterdays clear out (it was all the stuff in our attic in our previous house) took two trips for DH to the dump but looking in there today all we have to do is get the roof sorted and that room will be clear and ready for Milo to move in to in a couple of months. Am glad you are moving out though - i don't think i could have stayed in our old house had our extension gone ahead.

SM for Jacob, poor little guy - really hope he is on the mend soon.

SilveryMoon · 08/02/2010 11:01

Happy birthday H
mos glad he's better for his big day.
dinky fingers crossed ds1 gets better quickly.

Well, the doc said Jacob has some puss on the left side of his throat so he's on AB's again.

TulipsInTheRain · 08/02/2010 11:07

don't be dinky, i doubt very much he'll do it again

SweetTalkinWoman · 08/02/2010 13:22

Happy Birthday Harrison! Hope you have a lovely day all together .

Sorry Jacob's not feeling too good, SM and hope the AB's sort him out quickly. How are the nights now?

Dinky - where are you off to on your hols? So with DH being away, does this mean you have to do all the packing and car loading yourself? I hope the logistics all work out ok - and that the M25 behaves that day! Sorry your sleep deprivation is continuing - what a nightmare having two up in the night...

Not too much to report here. am just tucking into some celery and stilton soup before I meet a lady from HR to have my exit interview.

Have got a few days holiday coming up which I'm planning to take and be on my own in the house - I'm very excited . on Sam's birthday on the 22nd, I'm taking the day off and just he and I are going to the London Aquarium, then I'm popping into my office with him to show him off before I leave!

Must go, interview is a 1.30 and I have soup running down my chin....

Questionkid · 08/02/2010 13:41

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on MN in months and months, but it's Alex's birthday today so obviously I've been thinking about events this time last year and that made me think of all you lovely ladies.

Happy Birthday to all the babies who've already turned one, and a big happy birthday for today to Harrison, MOS, isn't today a great day for a birthday?!

Alex is doing brilliantly and every day I marvel at what a fine specimen my husband and I managed to produce!!! He's just producing his 9th tooth, crawls at about 100mph, walks himself around the edge of the room holding onto the furniture and has so far said Mummy, Daddy and lately Baby. That's his favourite, he points at the pictures we've got of him on the wall and says Baby over and over. It's very sweet and obviously we think he's a genius.

I'm feeling a little guilty today as Alex has gone to the childminder as usual and DH and I are both at work. We decided it was the only birthday he wouldn't know anything about so thought we'd save our annual leave. I don't work on Wednesdays so we're postponing celebrations until then, when I'm going to make a cake and we're going to go out and buy him the trike we've asked family to contribute to for his b'day.

Being back at work has been surprisingly ok and I've found a wonderful childminder who seems to really like Alex (fairly important I'd say) and who he seems very happy with.

Now we just need to move to a bigger house, we're bursting at the seams in our 2 bed place, need more room for all these blimmin toys!

Hope everyone's well.

xx

dinkystinky · 08/02/2010 13:44

Hi Questionkid - lovely to see you on and happy birthday to Alex for today! He sounds like he's doing great.

STW - have a lovely few days off. Bet Sam will love the aquarium! We're off to Lanzarote for a week, staying in a quiet fishing village - were going to be flying early Saturday but have had to push flights back due to DH's work trip. Though I see snow is forecast for the end of this week in London and around Gatwick so god only knows if we'll actually manage to get off on holiday...

SilveryMoon · 08/02/2010 16:02

Happy birthday to Alex.
QK I don't blame you for not using up a holiday day for today. You might even get away with it next year too.
I always remember looking at ds1 and wondering how it was even possible that me and dp could make something so perfect. That thought does ease off
stw The aquarium trip sounds lovely. I want to take these 2 at some point. Let us know how it is.

LittleMissNorty · 08/02/2010 17:08

Hello

Happy birthday to Harrison and Alex.

I also worked last week on DSs birthday. Couldn't really see the need for A/L either - or paying the nursery £80 and having the 2 of them at home.

Hope DS1 responds to ABs quickly SM

How strange STW - I'm having that week off work as well and enjoying being in the house on my own and going round the shops without a buggy. And we are also going to the London Aquarium - but on the Friday. Also doing Greenwich - Westminster boat trip with them

Tumble dryer has packed up today. 2 wet loads in there and one wet load in the washing machine - no airer . I will buy whatever model they have in stock when I get to the shops this evening!

Just paid £51 to have a headlight bulb fitted to my car. Me and DH tried for hours yesterday to do it and there is not enough room to line it all up, get your hand in there etc. Talk about money for old rope. I'm very pissed off about it!

Right off to force feed persuade DD to eat her lovingly prepared roast dinner

mumoverseas · 08/02/2010 17:20

just flying in to wish Alex a happy birthday. I hadn't realised Harrison had a birthday buddy QK, hope he has had a lovely day x

TulipsInTheRain · 09/02/2010 12:56

trying this again as MN wouldn't let me post earlier

My baby is 1!

have been spending the day saying things like 'oh, this time we were walking into the hospital/waters broke/he was born' (right now A was almost exactly and hour old and the mw was encouraging me to give a bit of a push on the placenta... it arrived at 12.59 and dp cut the cord)

LittleMissNorty · 09/02/2010 14:44

Awww Happy Birthday A

rosieposey · 09/02/2010 16:01

Happy birthday A! Happy belated birthday to Alex as well

It probably is just me but im getting broody ... anyone else? Its amazing how quickly this year has gone, i forgot that it just whizzed by and the sad thing is i can barely remember loads about my girls babyhoods. Now we live in the digital age and there are lots of videos and photos of Milo's first year it will perhaps be easier to remember - makes my other DD's look neglected though as only had a handful of photos of them all compared to all the ones we take on the phone and digital camera for Milo

dinkystinky · 09/02/2010 16:01

Happy birthday to A! Hope he has a lovely day Tulips and his big brother and sister spoil him rotten!

I have DS1's flu now - hate being ill! Though DS1 seems better today so fingers crossed it's a 24 hour thing and am all better for Danny's birthday tomorrow. I'm not taking tomorrow off either (mostly because we're off on holiday at the weekend) but his big brother and his nanny are downstairs baking cup cakes to celebrate his birthday right now so we'll have a mini-celebration in the morning.

rosieposey · 09/02/2010 17:33

rubbish that you are poorly Dinky, hope you feel better in time for you holiday though, get an early night some hot milk and honey some 4flu and lots of rest especially if you are not going to take any time off.

SilveryMoon · 09/02/2010 17:34

Happy birthday A Hope it's been a good one.

We've had another shit day here, following the worst night ever. Jacob is really bad with this throat infection and will not leave me alone! I haven't been able to do much but hug him all day. Luke is not happy about it at all.
Of course, dp is on nights, so I draw the short straw all day and all night. Again.
