rosieposey · 19/02/2010 23:28

Hello all, i have the lergy, DH has the lergy, Milo has the lergy and all the girls have the lergy too - so its lovely here yuk!

Nooo im not preggers yet! (trying though) before Milo get sufficiently toddlerish enough to put me off forever

Dinky come back! Its your witty reportoire we miss

Elkie hang in there, i really hope your mum finds out whats going on and gets the treatment she needs (if indeed she needs it) asap.

MOS hope your trip to the zoo was good - sounds really good fun - glad you stuck to your guns about the car seat for H.

SM im right there with you, me and DH have a wee chuckle about it as its just so, well, evangelical! I only managed to BF Milo for 9 weeks (and alot of that was expressing) and im really in favour of supporting new mums if they want to as its not as easy as it sounds but i know what you mean about hearing about it EVERY day!

Right well im off to bed now as feel like shite - have chapped lips from breathing through my nose all the time, sinusitus and a really fetching red nose - night night all

swampster · 20/02/2010 00:03

I lost you guys! Found you again. Moving house next month. Constantly knackered.

Hope your mum is ok, elkie.

Where is dinky?

Hope all poorly bubs are well again.

mumoverseas · 20/02/2010 06:06

morning all,

swampy welcome back. Hope house move packing and move goes ok. Dinky is on holiday, think in the Canaries

KBN so sorry to read about I's croup. DD (aged 3.4) has had it a few times. First time was August 2007 when we were in the UK. She had a little cough when she went to bed but by about 10pm I was terrified as she was making such awful noises. I thought she sounded like a dog barking and DS1 said she sounded like a seal. I got so scared I bundled her and DS1 and DD1 into the car and drove to A & E where she was diagnosed with croup and given steriods. she has had it a few times since and the worst time was a few weeks again when she had to go to the med centre several times to go on the nebuliser.

It is very very scary but you do learn to work out which is a bad attack that needs medical treatment. A few people have recommended to me a warm air humidifier but sadly I can only find cold air ones here but it would be worth you getting one. Also, several medical staff have said when it gets bad put them into a bathroom with hot shower running and let them breathe in the steam. That apparently really helps.

PT sorry you've all been unwell and rosie and any others affected. I've lost track I've had so much to catch up on.

Busy week here, was half term last week and managed to survive ok

Right, off to mums and tots so we can be back by around 11.30 ish as getting very hot here which is worrying. If its around 30 degrees now in February god/allah only knows what it will be like in June!

dinky a welcome back for when you return (think it was just one week) hope you had a lovely relaxing time

SilveryMoon · 20/02/2010 07:58

Hello
I broke the laptop charger again so have popped on using dp's I phone.
If I'm not around for acfew days, this is why.

katieblirdsnest · 20/02/2010 10:46

rosie hope you all get better soon.

welcome back swampy...good luck with the move, are you moving far? and what are you doing with the 3 boys on actual move day? i hope you've got someone to look after them.

mos thanks for the tips.

off to my parents until tomorrow night so have a lovely weekend everybody.

swampster · 20/02/2010 11:54

Thanks MOS and katie. Get your charger sorted SM!

We are moving about seven minutes walk from where we are now - my comfort zone is VERY small. Our last move was similar so we will be 14 minutes from the old house.

I hope I will get to look after the boys and everyone else will do all the hard work.

dinkystinky · 21/02/2010 14:35

Hola Chicas! Am back - missed you all - especially on the rain lashed days in Lanzarote. 9mm rain a year my arse - more like 9mm rain an hour. Absolutely no need to be MOS. However managed to get a few sunny afternoons in and had a lovely holiday, the boys loved it, Danny spent most of his time eating sand, black stones (I thought he thought they were olives but when I offered him actual olives he turned his nose up at them for the sand ) and walking from one sofa to another in the villa, arms above his head, like a little fugitive surrendering and DS1 spent ages playing in the waves and with other little kids on the beach so all was good.

Right have had a quick catch up - big hugs to all who are ill or have ill little ones or non-sleeping little ones (I'm still in that club too!). Elkie - especially big hugs to you. I'm so sorry to hear about your mum undergoing a biopsy/further investigations - am hoping they have caught it early and that she will be ok. Sending you strength and best wishes. Please try and look after yourself - eat (even if you dont feel like it) and sleep (even if you feel like you shouldnt) - you need to keep yourself well for your mum and your boys.

THOM - lovely to see you on the board. Happy belated birthday to Mr T.

KBN - soooo sorry to hear about I having croup and your scary experience at A&E. I second MOS's recommendation for a warm air humidifier. If in doubt, call up NHS direct and get them to talk you through what to look for as get to A&E croup. Or call your out of hours doctor - they'll do triage over the phone and will hopefully help you know when I needs meds. Big hugs to you.

Tulips - glad you had a lovely day at the zoo but [grr] at the vom fest going on at your house! Sending you strength and many sick bags/buckets of bleach.

LMN - how is your little man? Am hoping he's recovered now and you've all managed to avoid it. There are soooo many bugs doing the rounds at the moment - not nice! Well done on getting into exercise again. I have to admit, its painful to start off with but I always feel so much better for getting some exercise.

SM - glad J is much better now. Sorry L is still being rubbish at sleep. Hope you get on line again soon.

Swampster - moving house - so exciting! Hope the packing and move go as smoothly as humanly possible. Glad you're staying in your comfort zone.

MOS - wow, that trip to the zoo sounded like carnage. Glad you survived it. WW online is really good - used it to help lose the last of DS1's baby weight and am using it now to try to shift the last of Danny baby-weight by the summer - so cant recommend it highly enough. Rather suspect that copious amounts of tapas and wine imbibed on holiday may have undone alot of my good work over the last couple of months....

Right off to prepare for a mini-birthday party with grandparents for Danny. Nothing like MOS's hoopla - shop bought caterpillar cake (his favourite books is the hungry caterpillar) and some blinis and sausage rolls - but he'll love it. Hope everyone stays well and happy. Check in again later.

mumoverseas · 21/02/2010 15:16

dinky yay, welcome back. Was starting to worry as have less than 100 messages on this thread and you are the 'new thread namer'

Glad you had a good break. Well done on almost shifting DS2s baby weight. I'm still working on shifting DS1s baby weight and he will be 17 this summer
Am working hard on diet and got quite annoyed earlier when the WW website crashed when I was updating my points. I WILL do it this time.

Hope the party goes well. When I learn how to upload photos will upload the caterpillar cake, think it is my best effort so far

dinkystinky · 22/02/2010 09:39

Hmm, new thread titles... not sure my sleep deprived state will let me come up with much...

How about "Fab Feb 2009 bar: toddle on in, grab a pew - mummy is in need of a drink or two..."

mumoverseas · 22/02/2010 12:00

so you are not THAT sleep deprived then

TulipsInTheRain · 22/02/2010 13:24

welcome back dinky... glad you had such a lovely time.

it was far too quiet here without you

dinkystinky · 22/02/2010 15:21

I clearly spend too much time on here - though nice to be missed

How is A, and DS2, doing now Tulips? Hope they're all better and peace (or at least relative peace) reigns in your house again.

TulipsInTheRain · 22/02/2010 17:09

Boys are mostly better, thanks for asking dinky... although ds1 is acting the maggot at night and refusing to stay in bed.

Not very peaceful here today though... my neighbour has gone into labour at 36 weeks and I spent the afternoon helping her and encouraging her to head to the hospital (slight case of denial on her part despite contractions 2 mins apart and them being close to a minute long). Now have her two kids at mine... both of them are scared of cats, they're upset that they're not with their dad (not the new babies father... long story) and I don't have enough food to feed everyone

Thank god it's a nice day and i can boot them outside

LittleMissNorty · 23/02/2010 08:40

Hi everyone, just raising my head out of the vom and diahhorea covered parapit.....DS finally on the mend and has just eaten a whole weetabix.....just hope it stays down there!

Luckily we all seem ok (famous last words) but I have done a fair amount of washing in the last few days!

Havem't really caught up but welcome back Dinky and any sign of a baby from your neighbour PT?

dinkystinky · 23/02/2010 09:04

Oh LMN, poor little E - really hope his weetabix munching means he's feeling better now and the end is well and truly in sight for you guys. Fingers crossed you all stay well.

Tulips - well done for convincing your neighbour to go to hospital! Hope she had her baby and her kids were ok - bet your kids loved having some little friends over for the day and hope the food managed to be eeked out.

My SIL was over for the weekend and joined us for Danny's birthday celebrations (she lives in the US and was the first birthday party she's attended) and gave us some sad news. She had been hoping to make an announcement when she saw us at the weekend but while she had been over in Botswana with work before flying to the UK (works for a NGO) she had a miscarriage (only just pregnant - around 8 weeks I think - she found out the week before she went to Botswana) while over there so flew back to the UK early to stay with MIL and get checked out at the hospital as her crappy US medical insurance wouldnt cover being checked out in Botswana Am so desperately sad for her and BIL as she's so eager to have kids - really hope her next pregnancy has a happy ending. I know some ladies on our antenatal thread had early miscarriages and went on to have happy healthy babies so tried to raise her spirits with those tales but I think she's still wondering why it happened and if she actually can have a proper pregnancy, porr girl.

rosieposey · 23/02/2010 13:24

Hi all,

welcome back Dinky Sounds like you had a wet time away! Sorry to read about your SIL its horrible, 9 months before i got pg with Milo i had an 11 week ms and one a few years ago too and at the time you really do wonder if you will ever have a 'normal' pregnancy. I really hope she manages to conceive again soon and it all works out for them.

Have been sooooo poorly. Went to the doctors yesterday to get some antibiotics as have a chest infection from this cold - my asthma is bloody awful as a result and my sinuses are infected as well Bah! I thought i'd gotten away with it for this year too!

MOS very at your dieting efforts, i wish i wasnt so crap but i just have the worlds worst willpower, every year i make a halfhearted effort for about a week saying i will be a couple of sizes smaller for the summer but never am

LMN glad you are all on the mend - its a cesspit of lurgy here and not very nice at all.

Tulips hopefully you manged with the additions that you had and stretched the grub so that it fed everyone - has she had her lo yet? How exciting to have a little one in such close proximity

I need to ask you all a favour, just so i know im not going mad. Ok well i dont think i am anyway! i started a thread yesterday as i thought/could have sworn/staked my life on it that i got a BFP, i randomly tested as i am due my AF on Thursday and i had these snazzy little ebay (cheapy) HPTS. They are supposed to be the most sensitive you can get as they measure as little as 10miu of HCG meaning you can test a good few days before your AF and (possibly) get a postive result. Well there was definately a second line - have a look at my profile as i have put a photo up of the positive and the negative that i got when i retested two hours later.

The trouble is that i have used about 5 of those HPTs since yesterday afternoon and they are all coming up neg. I actually think that it was an initial faulty one as the dye is still quite pink on the background of the test and there is a big block of pink colour infront of the second line and all the neg tests are white background and a single pink line - nothing else .

I even wondered if it was an evaporation line but it came up straight away and was pink not grey. I did actually think that on our first month of trying that a BFP might have been a bit too much to expect but if you look at the photo there is a definate line there. I tested again this first thing when my sample should have been strongest and still a neg so can only conclude that the 1st one i took yesterday was faulty - sods law eh? But still really disappointing though.

Oh well i have a hen night in London in two weeks and a wedding to attend in another 4 so it might mean a few glasses of wine in that case

TulipsInTheRain · 23/02/2010 14:27

hey rosie... i have to say that test does look a bit iffy, it looks almost like the dye has run on it, i've never had one that looks all pink like that.

Hope i'm wrong though and it was a stupendously clever one that got it right when and the other 5 are wrong

No baby from neighbour yet... she's still having contractions but not progressing and as she's only 36 weeks they won't induce her. The kids have gone off with they dad at least so now i just have to clean up the mess they made!

rosieposey · 23/02/2010 14:54

Yep thats what i think PT i also read somewhere that it can happen with ebay cheapies ... wish id known that yesterday though as got quite excited for a couple of hours there - the other 5 are definately right i think as i have no symptoms and have been holding my wee like a good 'un before testing.

Glad you have some semblance of normality back again though

dinkystinky · 23/02/2010 15:44

Rosie - I'm always quite suspicious about those really early test kits - what I'd suggest you do is leave it a week or two and test again before your first planned Hen night. If you are pregnant, the hormone levels will be must stronger and you should get a definitive reading. Sorry to hear about your early losses too - I think its really quite common but people just dont really talk about it much. I have to admit, I wasnt on MN when pregnant with DS1 so didnt realise how common it was - then joined MN before getting pregnant with Danny and it was only when I was lurking on the antenatal thread that I realised how often such losses happen. Just concentrate on battling off your lurgies and put it out of your mind - who knows, you might be pleasantly surprised in a couple of weeks.

Tulips - glad you're back to the usual madhouse as opposed to the extended madhouse!

elkiedee · 23/02/2010 15:52

Sorry for your SIL Dinky, is this her first miscarriage or has she had previous ones?

dinkystinky · 23/02/2010 17:23

I think its her first Elkie - or at least the first that she's told us about. How are you - and how's your mum doing?

rosieposey · 23/02/2010 17:28

Dinky i will only have to wait a couple of days anyway as AF is due at the end of this week so hopefully will be able to push the boat out a week Saturday anyway - always best to think of the upsides

Elkie, just to second what Dinky is saying really, how is your mum getting along - anymore news?

TheHouseofMirth · 23/02/2010 20:41

Bloody, bloody teeth...

dinkystinky · 24/02/2010 08:37

I feel your pain THOM - or rather Danny feels Mr T's pain... I have to admit we've resorted to medised in the middle of the night the past two nights as nurofen and anbesol no longer seem to be doing the trick. Humans are so badly designed arent they???
