Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
katieblirdsnest · 09/02/2010 20:14

couldn't seem to post earlier.

sorry you're feeling rubbish dinky, hope danny gives you a break on the sleep front tonight.

and sorry Jacob is bad SM.

happy birthday to A and belated happy birthdays to H and A for yesterday.

anyone else going to watch the maternity ward documentary tonight? i just know i'll be in floods, i just can't watch things about birth without becoming ridiculously emotional.

TulipsInTheRain · 09/02/2010 23:53

And by this time dp had gone home,
i'd sobbed on the phone saying good night to dd and ds1,
i'd had a hysterical screaming match with a scbu nurse whilst trying to physically remove A from intensive care,
i'd been talked down but they as a result put A in an incubator where he was more comfortable than under the hood,
i'd gone to the ward as it was shift change and i'd been booted out of scbu and told to go eat,
i'd chatted to the other moms with no babies (all of them still preg... only me post natal) and helped the lady with twins for a while,
i'd gone back to scbu and had now been sitting there for several hours just staring at A through the glass of his incubator and sticking my hand through the hole in the side and just holding his hand as much as they'd allow and flinching everytime his breathing monitor went apeshit.

this day last year was possibly the worst day of my entire life...

A was spolit, we had a few extra kids round as dd's friend from school and the neighbours kids were here. We also had the neighbours and my mother. He got some nice toys, i picked up a couple of simple wooden toys and my mother got him some clothes and a gorgeous toy zebra.

ds1 got him a cuddly duck (he wanted to get him a real one... the less said about that tantrum the better) and dd got him a doctors kit 'So that he can pretend to be a patient and we can play doctors', which surprisinly he loves. A friend got him one of those alfie teddies from vetec and he's gone oddly possessive about it and played with it for ages.... he was so shattered he fell asleep on dp at 5.30 and couldn't be woken, then woke at 8 and had a bit of a play with his new toys in peace and went back down at 9.30.... i've just spent the evening trying and failing to do the quarterly returns for the effing playschool and have now lost the will to live!

dinkystinky · 10/02/2010 09:39

Morning all. My dinkystinky Danny is now 1! He celebrated last night with a 2 hour party in his cot - DH very considerately went out and got shitfaced so was no help whatsoever and then wondered why I wasnt in the best of moods today...

Tulips - glad A had a good day. Honestly, the memories of the bad parts will fade in time.

SM - sorry J is still ill. Hope the ABs kick in soon and you get a break.

Hope everyone has a good day.

SilveryMoon · 10/02/2010 10:12

Happy birthday Danny

LittleMissNorty · 10/02/2010 10:17

Happy birthday Danny

Sorry Dinky but I did at the 2 hour party. My DS had one of those as well. But for once, my DH was a bit helpful and took him downstairs at 5am so I could get an hours shut-eye before getting up at 6am. I hope you made your DH feel suitably guilty!

See from FB you didn't have a good night either SM

Didn't watch that maternity programme last night....would've made me broody and I'm too old/kackered to do it again!

katieblirdsnest · 10/02/2010 10:58

happy birthday danny. now that you're a big boy how about keeping parties to the daytime?!
hope you all have a lovely day dinky.

sm hope things get better soon.

tulips, i had no idea how bad things had been for you. it sounds so awful, i'm so lucky never have had to go through something like that.

i did watch the maternity programme and did blub my way through half of it. if i'd had a traumatic labour i'm not sure i could have watched it though.

mumoverseas · 10/02/2010 11:05

PT belated birthday wishes for A. Sorry missed it yesterday, been a bit manic here. sorry about the awful reminder of your terrible time last year x

Happy birthday to Danny hope the dinky family all over nasty flu bug and have a lovely day

SM hope you are ok.

Just done a MASSIVE supermarket shop. Thankfully my friend lent me her driver so I didn't need to go on the bus and I managed to get all the stuff for our party on Friday.

Looks like around 40 adults and 30 kids

TulipsInTheRain · 10/02/2010 11:09

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANNY hope the day goes better than the night dinky

the maternity programme clashed with greys anatomy and i chose blubbing over fake medical drama instead. dp is booking himself in for a vasectomy soon and the finalness of that along with A's birthday would have meant i'd have sobbed hysterically watching other women give birth

dinkystinky · 10/02/2010 11:32

Thanks ladies. Am in work as trying to get stuff done today so can go on holiday in peace. Danny was delighted with his toys - a soft foam birthday cake with candles and a soft foam picnic basket - he and DS1 were having a pretend picnic as I left for work this morning and we dusted off DS1's old wheely bug for him to play with too... doing a little family party in 2 weeks time.

Didnt watch the birth documentary - am rubbish at watching stuff like that! And was in bed by 9 last night anyway - how rock and roll am I???

rosieposey · 10/02/2010 12:08

Happy birthday Danny! Hope he has a lovely day and that you are feeling better Dinky.

'One born every minute' was really good (bit nailbiting in parts) but i feel really broody, those babies were so tiny.

MOS that sounds like quite a party! Hope it all goes well for you.

Tulips its horrid when you get flashbacks and remember the crappy bits, it must seem amazing to look at A now and see how far he has come.

McDreamy · 10/02/2010 16:44

Hello Ladies! Happy Birthday to all our babies. I can't believe they are - where did that year go?

McDreamy · 10/02/2010 16:44

they are 1

SilveryMoon · 10/02/2010 20:27

McDreamy good to see you
I know, it's flown by hasn't it?

Rough day here again and looks like it'll be another of those nights.
I took Jacob back to the doc as I have never seen him this poorly and there is no improvement after 3 days on AB's.
Doc said everything seems fine, chest is clear, throat is clearing so just need to ride it out.....

rosieposey · 10/02/2010 22:17

Hello McDreamy Nice to see you! Did you move to Wilts in the end?

SM sorry J is still struggling - you must be really fed up by now (and really tired) hope you get a decent night anyway.

Had a bit of a rubbish night as well last night, Milo kept waking up so hopefully a better one here tonight.

McDreamy · 10/02/2010 22:38

Yes I'm in wilts now! And loving it

We are having rough nights here too - think it's back teeth coming through, feels like having a new born again!

Anyone watch the One Born Every Minute programme? Brought it all back to me DD was a planned section for today but decided to call the shots herself and arive in all the snow!

McDreamy · 10/02/2010 22:41

Aw Tulips just read your post, you did have a rough time. Glad you little one had a nice birthday - what a difference a year can make

mumoverseas · 11/02/2010 05:47

morning all, just a flying visit whilst first batch of cakes in the oven.

McDreamy so good of you to join us

SM try and hang in there and hopefully there will soon be an improvement. When H was ill last week it was around day 4 of ABs when he started turning the corner. Hope J is better today

dinkystinky · 11/02/2010 08:40

Morning all - another party in the crib for Danny last night. Beginning to think I should just give in, invest in a disco ball and strobe lights for his room and join in the fun On the plus side I'm feeling better - on the down side DS1 is ill again (looks like an ear infection) which we need to get sorted out before we go on holiday....

SM - sending you huge hugs and mummy strength. J will get better - the ABs are clearly doing their job if everything is clearing, its just the poor mite has been really wiped out by this illness and he is going to be listless/clingy/unlike his usual self until he's fully recovered.

McDreamy - welcome back to the fold. Sorry to hear you're having nocturnal shenanigans too...

McDreamy · 11/02/2010 08:42

Morning all - do we have a birthday today? We must have!!

McDreamy · 11/02/2010 08:44

And its Dog's little one's today (think she hangs out on the Jan thread and came to join us as overdue) - think I saw on a thread somewhere else that she's expecting another one (would be no 4!)....

McDreamy · 11/02/2010 09:00

Wow number 4 - I don't think I could go there although after watching One Born Every Minute I was a bit bit tempted.....for a split second

rosieposey · 11/02/2010 10:09

Your lo's got the same birthday as Milo McDreamy, i completely forgot that!

I am going for number 5 as of this month and have started using OPK's - not getting on particularly well with them though as they are quite hard to decipher. DH and i have decided that it would be great for Milo to have a sibling to grow up with and im 38 so need to do it asap really.

I hate being pg so much though so not looking forward to that part of it tbh but this years been great fun with our lo so fingers crossed it might happen for us again

Dinky am glad you are feeling better - just in time for your hols!

SilveryMoon · 11/02/2010 10:34

Another horrible night! We slept 1-3am. You'd think that by now the tiredness would just take over for him, but no.
I'm tempted to go the medised route if he's still bad tonight. I know they changed the age and everything, but I really think he'd be a bit better if he got a proper sleep. WWYD?
