Wolfie Yay for your lil walking man. Izzy's not so poetic. I just plonked her down in the middle of her play mat and she tottered two little steps and then threw herself at the sofa. It might have been falling rather than walking but don't tell anyone.

She wouldn't be tempted to repeat her feat all afternoon.

Oh it is going to be a long night chez Steaky.

itshotterinhell · 14/10/2009 20:56

Yay for the walking babies

DH snoring on the sofa and I should really be getting tomorrow's tea ready but I can't be arsed

BucketsOfBlood · 14/10/2009 21:03

LOL at 'benign neglect.' That is so me, though I like to call it 'off-the-leash parenting'. I was kind of forced into it with DS1 because he really needed to explore a venue fully before he would behave nicely, and spent so much time strapped in when there wasn't time for that I had to plan it into my day when out. Plus at toddler groups etc he was always so busy playing by himself I have become quite spoilt in my expectation to spend the whole time chatting to the mums!

Kurt is so chilled and sensible it just seems natural to let him pootle anywhere, even on hands and knees in the playground! I only bought him shoes because it's starting to be a bet wetter out lately and I can't be bothered to carry spare socks.

VG Head injuries are so par for the course though aren't they? You can't really prevent them, the kids learn from them and they have a magical tendency to come in 3s anyway.

Steaky Ikea is a great place for lunch with babies, I bumped into our NCT breastfeeding social group there today. I just dump Kurt in the little bandstand-play area thing and sit where I can see him come out to drink my coffee. Plus, I might be in Sidmouth for a few days at half term (w/c 26th) - wanna meet up? Some playzone somewhere would be best I think, pref one with decent coffee?

TS 8.10am start? Well done you!

itshotterinhell · 14/10/2009 21:12

How would anyone ever find time to mn if you were actually supposed to watch your children???

BucketsOfBlood · 14/10/2009 21:14

Do you know, people irl ask me how I have time to surf the net / volunteer / organise stuff / plan a kitchen / learn ukulele? I tell them they are probably doing too much housework.

steaknifethroughtheheart · 14/10/2009 21:16

HP nice name!

BoB ooh yes to an East Devon meet up. Bicton Gardens and Ottertonmill are both close by.

Oops talking today with Mummysteak she isn't giving up her car easily, though it might be the lure of Ikea. She has never been before. Does anyone know, can you leave your car at Ikea while you window shop at the swanky Cabot bobs place?

MidnightSlayer · 14/10/2009 21:31

HOORAY FOR WALKING BABIES!!! I & J are truck'n now!!! WOO HOO!!!!

Buckets I get that same question about "time" and how do I get stuff done and still have time to use the internet. I just tell them I have A.D.D. ....a little bit here, a little bit there, a little bit over that way, etc, etc.

My hands are going to fall off. Room Mother duty today was prepping t-shirts for tye-dying. I've done 17 so far and I'm guess I have another 18 to do before bed. I have to wrap 15 rubber bands around each shirt so it will display vertical stripes....to be dyed orange....so the little ones will look like pumpkins.

BRB...stink!

BucketsOfBlood · 14/10/2009 21:40

That's a lot of stripes for tiny t-shirts, hope it works.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 14/10/2009 22:05

bollox forgot pmc AGAIN.

MidnightSlayer · 14/10/2009 22:26

Stinky Diaper...Room Mother Call...Room Mother Call...DH Phoned...Now I'm back! But only for a minute.

Oops you beat me to it! Sazzles you do look amazing in those wedding pictures. PINK!

Crap! I promise to be more attentive tomorrow. Duty calls.........

SazZaVoom · 14/10/2009 22:27

I have it on Sky+ if that's any use?

steaky IKEA and Cabot Circus are a bit away from each other which is a pain. I'm sure you could walk it but suspect you would need to go through the worst area of town one of the less posh suburbs to get there

TS thats a helluva a lot of t-shirts and a helluva lot of bands for one lady. Good luck!!!

hots loving the new name

Steaky/Oops hope your little ladies have a settled night

cyteen so fab that DS has discovered the wonders of walking . Do you think he bowed to peer pressure after tuesday?

Welcome home dizzy and hope you get a little bit of recovery time and no 5.30 wakes. Mind you, if you do i'll no doubt keep you company

Been out playing netball tonight and have decided to affiliate so i can play matches. I can't commit every week but would be lovely to play a little as i fear i cannot let my competitive streak come to the fore when playing snap or snakes and ladders with the DD's

SazZaVoom · 14/10/2009 22:28

Crikey, just need to figure out which pics you have been snooping - i think i know and didn;t clock too many embarrasing ones. I have one on my camera which is rather

SazZaVoom · 14/10/2009 22:29

Oh, and thanks for the lovely comments

luckoftheirish · 15/10/2009 06:47

morning!

glad the northern meet up went well .. and well done to all the new walkers ..

well i have been up and down like a hoars drawers all night.. dd2 so snuffly and has a bit of a cough.. she did decide to giggle at me everytime i went i so i guess she is not that poorly.. up at the crack of so got my usual vat of coffee on the go..

got my second every pilate session this am and so looking forward to it ..

sil due to give birth any day now and its got me so broody but as we know dh dead set against a third so will just have to get lots of cuddles when new baby comes!!!

steaknifethroughtheheart · 15/10/2009 07:18

morning LOTI poor miniloti.
Took DD until about half eight to finally sleep but she did sleep til half six this morning which I am pleased about. Her left eye was all stuck together with eyegoo that didn't seem to bother her until I had to clean it. She is in good spirits this morning - hope that lasts.

Enjoy pilates.

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 15/10/2009 07:23

Oh dear a bad night for you loti. I am here with vat of coffee too and it's raising my heartrate but not my eyelids.

Horrid when eyes stuck shut, that's not happened to us for ages but I remember wiping gently with cotton bud etc while the poor baby is trying to open it and it's so painful. Hope she's well today.

Brilliant you will be playing netball matches sazzles! LOL that the dd's will be relieved you stop leaping up, shouting YESSSSSSSSS and jerking your arm every time you get a ladder or they get a snake

Out & about in town etc with my bandaged buggy today so see y'all later.

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 15/10/2009 07:34

Morning all

Porridge on offer here and fresh OJ, tea and decaf coffee.

LOTI - sorry to hear you have a bad night. Enjoy pilates.

Steaky - the best thing to wipe D's eye with is cooled boiled water with a bit of salt in it. You might want to take her to the doc though sounds a bit conjunctivitis-y. Cabot Circus is only a 5-7min drive from Ikea so you could always treat Mammysteak to a stroll about Cabot then Ikea on the way home.

Once DD settled she too slept buntil 5.15 then came in fed and slept until 6.15, jumped about on DH shouting Papa, boob, Papa, bum, Papa, boob and blowing raspberries - now how does someone so small know that is supposed to be funny?

wolfie - I am feeling okay atm the sickness has started a bit more in the last few days but that isn't too bad and gives me confidence that all is okay. I have dating scan on the 24th if anyone fancies popping along to see this little creature.

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 15/10/2009 09:20

LOL, I have visions of us all crowding into the scanning room, toddlers in hand, craning over your shoulder and jostling to see the screen

BucketsOfBlood · 15/10/2009 09:31

Morning ladies, not so much sleep here either, 5.30 wake up call but curled up with him in the spare bed, he slept again but I just dozed with a dead arm and suddenly beep beep beep 7am.

Got NCT group coming here today so need to start making plum cake in a mo. Went to Special Needs parents coffee afternoon at school yesterday, was lovely, such a good idea.

Whoops Kurt just did very strange slow motion roll off (and somehow under) a toddler stepstool and is making a disproportionate fuss. Think he broke his ego. Now throwing a couple of bags of dirty nappies around - have never seen him so cross!

Winibaghoul · 15/10/2009 11:36

Morning ladies.
argh.
Tell you what I've been reminded why I don't post on other threads been jumped on on another thread. Now whatever I type, this woman takes one line and uses it to make out I'm some witch who thinks people who want a homebirth don't care about the life of their baby. Honestly, some people on here are idiots.
ALthough noone on this thread

steaknifethroughtheheart · 15/10/2009 12:05

I've been tidying - woohoo.
How, when my downstairs is tiny, does the "stuff" gets out of control so quickly?

Do you think if I had more surfaces I wouldn't notice the "stuff" until those surfaces were full? And would that be worse than having tiny surfaces and them getting full quickly but only taking half an hour or so to clean-up?

When I find myself daydreaming about larger homes I just remind myself - more cleaning.

Wini not been to the shops so only have stale muffins or stale scones to offer you for your comfort. Maybe BoB will have a slice of plum cake left from the NCT ladies.

MidnightSlayer · 15/10/2009 13:22

Ann shall I go stick a pitchfork somewhere!?! Just point me to the thread!!

Oops I'd be elbowing my way to the front of the room to see. I think I might need to go to ultrasound tech school because that's just too cool.

Pilates at 9:30. Lucky I wish we lived close then we could go together. I have new pilates pants. DH noticed them this morning but I quickly diverted his attention because they are new and I didn't want to reveal that I'd only purchased them this week.

I had a good night but still feel sleepy. I think it's our weather. Very dreary here. Misty rain all day long, grey skies.....blah blah blah.

Off to Mom's Day Out then to Pilates!!!

OH why is it that Reese follows me everywhere saying mommy mommy mommy so I will hold her. I finally picked her up and tried to use the opportunity to cut her nasty finger nails.....she quickly popped out of my lap and ran off. What's that???? I'm HOLDING YOU SILLY!!!!!

Winibaghoul · 15/10/2009 13:34

ah ts don't worry about it. I'vegiven up anyway.Justseems she'sdetermined to twist whatever I type, so there's no point whatsoever. There's no dealing with militants isthere?

oh and I forgot to say congratsto the new walkers Seb is still firmly in thecrawling camp.

MiamlaMwahHahahahahaaaaaaa · 15/10/2009 13:49

ooh many walkers happening here it seems!!!

well done babies!

girls, I have discovered the secret of DS sleeping all night!!!!!!! who wants to hear?? its tried and tested and it works...every time!!!!!

alittlebitshy · 15/10/2009 13:50

Hello all. I seem to keep losing my place. ARGH.

Glad the meetup went well!!! .

Am loving the benign neglect descriptions. I veer between that and being forced to be superglued to ds when he is clingy. Took him to the fabbo toddler group dd used to go to yesterday and he really wa snot bothered if i was near him much of the time (unless he got stuck in a car or wanted lifting onto something .

On the otherhand, at NCT coffee morn today he was so whingy, clingy and unhappy. I eventually asked him if he wanted to go home, and he put his arms up to go. Bless him. Think it is teething. dd never suffered with teeth (in that she never had ishoos - of course she has teeth )so this ios all new....

wini/ann whatever you answer to {grin]. Have you lowered the cot ? .

I think we need another london meet btw. Whaddya all think???
