Now that PMC is over - where are we going to get our cliche fix from?

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 26/10/2009 19:51

Aw steak I felt the same about stopping BF, as you will probably remember. Then last week DS went for my boob when I got him out of bed in the morning (I had no top on) and I felt doubly bad Fortunately he was easily distracted and he never seems to notice them when they're covered up, so I think it must have just been habit.

lol @ mastering the skill, hotter - we're not quite there yet, as the many bumps on his noggin will attest. He's been in a right old funny mood this afternoon, although he does appear to have a runny bum so perhaps he's just fed up about that.

dizzydixies · 26/10/2009 20:54

how on earth did lil ol me make you buy a pink bike Sazz?!?!?!??!!??!

well done to the vintage Running Man - couldn't run the length of myself

No1 - hope wee man doing better

Oops - am about to slap your very silly PIL [grrrrrr][tool up emoticon]

right ladies, early shift and an amount of crappy admin work since I got in has floored me, last day tomorrow then I'm off for 2wks so I promise to be better, well at least until I head off to NY

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 26/10/2009 21:04

Well it's hi and bye from me tonight. I'm off for a long soak in the bath with a book then bed.

Dizzy - hope work is not too bitchy tomorrow. I believe your girls bike's may have been the cause of bike envy.

No1 - not seen you about tonight so I hope all is okay.

Steaky - I hope tonight goes well without the boob. I knoe I need to give it up but it's not worth missing the sleep at the moment Xmas Blush.

Cyteen - Hi

itshotterinhell · 26/10/2009 21:21

Just watching Dollhouse - hoping it's good as we are fans of Joss Whedon and all his work. Plus Eliza Dushku is hot hot hot and despite being a confirmed hetero I wouldn't kick her out of bed

dizzydixies · 26/10/2009 21:27

hots - DH is a fan too since Buffy days when she was a bit of a badgirl am more into Megan Fox myself

night all

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 26/10/2009 21:28

Ooh, what side is it on hotter? I love Joss Whedon and will certainly fight you for the gorgeous Eliza

itshotterinhell · 26/10/2009 21:53

ITV4

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 26/10/2009 21:59

Bollocks, missed it. Ah well, being ITV it will surely be repeated at some point

steaknifethroughtheheart · 26/10/2009 22:27

oops I had more or less stopped night time feeds anyway just before DD was poorly last week so when she started improving I stopped all night feeds. She wasn't bothered, which was encouraging and meant I knew she could settle without the boob so once I was happy with that then I knew I could tackle the nap and bedtime feeds.

Forgot to say earlier that your PILs sound at the best tactless and at the worst just plain mean. And I love Hector as a name and the wee bean photo is smashing.

Anyone in the Brizzle area it looks like the Great Ikea Trek is going to be next Tuesday if anyone is up for a lunchtime mini meet.

Just deciding whether to leave DD with Grandma or to make it a family expedition. Can't decide.

Also where is best for car seats - Mothercare, Argos or Halfords? And recommendations for around £80 for something not in use everyday and grandma proof easy to take out of the car if needs be.

Snotmonster · 27/10/2009 03:00

Another completely rubbish night here. DS woke up at 11.45 and didn't go back to sleep till 1.15 then woke up for the day at 4.42! Am exhausted at work now.

VG - that is an amazing time for a marathon. DH was aiming for 4 hours but I don't think the weather here is exactly conducive to marathon running! He has some of the longer shorts which he swears he will only wear from now on. He did apply lots of vaseline but it's so hot that it just melts off. He also had to use some of my lasinoh from the early days of bfing as his heart rate monitor rubbed his nipple - at least it's come in useful again!

luckoftheirish · 27/10/2009 05:56

what a nightmare snot.. really feel for you...

well it was 5.30am this am so i guess thats a slight improvement, she is still waking up 4/5 times a night tho for dummy/water.. also she also only manages 40/50 mins sleep during the day...

is anyone elses lo like this?? i mean Tess woke up at 4.42am yesterday slept from 11.20 til 12pm and went down at 6.10pm.. when my dd1 was this age she had a 2 hour sleep every day!!! she is so adorable and doesn't seem to get too grumpy without the sleep but it is getting harder and harder getting no time in the day and then been woken up so much at night... advice please!!!

i keep catching up at these ungodly hours and by the time i post i've forgotten everything everyone has said ...

vg well done on dh marathon..

so glad you enjoyed your night out cece..

fingers crossed on the no boob steaky..

and thats it cannot remember another thing.. hope everyone has a good day, got pilates today horrah, tho dd1 had a slight fever all day yesterday so my plans my yet get scuppered!!! xxx

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 27/10/2009 08:05

Thanks all for congratulations to dp! I think he will be limping round for a bit yet in recovery. I was very impressed I must say and of course there's a lot to be said for a lean, muscular man with plenty of stamina!

No I can't imagine your climate is the best for running long distances, poor snotmister! Excellent idea re. repurposing the lansinoh!

I laughed wolfie when you said what side is it on, reminded me of being a child and only having 2 channels and we asked what side is it on.

Glad that stopping bf has started smoothly for you, steaknife.

back in a bit emerg

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 08:25

Morning Loti, my DD1 was like this - 40 minute sleep, every 2hrs from when she woke up. IIRC this went on until over 18 months by which time she was having 2 40 minute sleeps. Thankfully she slept well at night but i was very of everyone else getting 2hrs to do stuff in a day
Sorry to hear of your crappy night too snot, i can only empathise as we have yet to crack ours (although they are slowly improving)

We had an ok night, although DD1 wet the bed at 5am and then woke DD2 with her shouting when i said she had to put a pull up on . We didn't in the end and she was fine for the rest of the night. I really don't know what to do to help her as lifting her wasn't really working and we are already restricting drinks after 6pm. Any magic ideas anyone?

DD2 woke at 1.30, 5 and 5.30 and shouted the odds for a couple of minutes. I offered some water, she refused so i told her it was still night night time and she slept till 7.20. Unheard of

Good luck to all those tailing off with the BF, you have all done so well . It;s lovely to hear that the babes are ok with the changes too

steaky i would love to pop to Brizzle but i have a birthday party for one of DD1's friend's on Tues afternoon so I think it would be too much to squeeze in . Our Britax Freeway was great and about £65 but i think discontinued but i have found this one which looks very similar. The good thing for us was that the Freeway was CAA approved so we could use it on the plane, which may be possible with this one if you are flying to see Mansteak

dizzy still blame you

TS back at'cha

LOL at cece and her RAF. Took me a while to figure that one . Hope you are enjoying the boys being back and not tearing your hair out already

Oh, and i meant to say thankyou all for not revealing the winner of PMC on here - we are watching the final tonight so i can stop trying to avoid finding out

Right, must go make more tea - DD's are away with the CM and i am in my dressing gown - bliss

VintageGaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahdenia · 27/10/2009 08:30

Eek the cry which I thought meant "I have finished this apple and want someone to take the remains" actually mean "I have trapped my hand in a cupboard door and every time I lean forward with the other hand I am accidentally increasing the pressure and causing intolerable pain to myself has anyone any ideas as to how to reverse this situation?"

Morning S!

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 08:34

Oh bless his little cottons . DD2 insists on doing the same with drawers. I give her a despairing look and remind her that this is not necessarily a sensible course of action . To no avail sadly

itshotterinhell · 27/10/2009 08:57

Crap night here too after two brilliant ones DD awake at 3 & 4, then DS awake at 5 and nothing would stop him crying, not cuddles, not calpol, not coming in my bed, not milk, then his crying woke DD again so in the end DH gave in and brought them downstairs at 6am and I went back to sleep for two hours, hurrah!

Am taking them both swimming by myself in a few minutes so ought to get ready, am a bit nervous but meeting two friends with 2 bigger DC each and if they can manage I should be able to...

OOOOOOOOOOOpsacoconut · 27/10/2009 09:15

Morning

DD woke at 4.30 and refused point blank to go back to sleep - we tried in her cot, in our bed, in the spare bed and I eventually I gave in at 5.45 and brough her down where has ran amok like a looney thing possesed. DH came down at 7.15 and took over and I slept until just before 9.

We are off to Westonbirt today to meet my mum and have a good stomp.

Steaky - I am about next Tuesday and need to to to Ikea anyway so am happy to meet for a few meatballs

Morning VG and Sazzles

SazZaVoom · 27/10/2009 09:16

Westonbirt will be lovely today oops. Apparently once the sun comes through it will be 18 degrees . Enjoy

steaknifethroughtheheart · 27/10/2009 09:29

Oops - yay for next Tuesday - could this be a first thought a mini-meet without La Sazz?

I am quite of Westonbirt, sun or no sun. Though I think I might try out our new wheels along the sea-front this morning. I think there is some blue peeking through the clouds.

Sazz hadn't even thought about having to take things on planes, but IIRC the French-in-laws have a car seat.

I was looking at this one and this one last night. Aha - just realised the second one is the same as the one you linked to. MC one is cheaper so probably going to get that one, but just noticed the original price, how can halfords justify the £30 difference in the original price?
Oh bums the one in MC is out of stock. grrrr

iwascyteenagewerewolf · 27/10/2009 09:31

Oh dear VG, they do love to trap their hands and then make it worse don't they? DS does this with the catflap, the cupboards, the vegetable rack...

luckoftheirish · 27/10/2009 12:30

well dd1 still had slight temp so off nursery so no pilates for me today .. both dds running amuck throught the hours and i have no energy to stop them... made a cottage pie for tea and just assembled.. not enough mash so having to boil more spuds... this isn't a good day ..

forgot to say i saw my dn for the 1st time yesterday.. had a lovely snuggle but happy to say i was glad to give him back!!! broodiness has been abated!!!

Winibaghoul · 27/10/2009 12:38

hello ladies
Gah have forgotten what I was going to reply to. Seb started the day ok, so I got a couple of things done, but has now reverted to full on misery mode. Have soup cooking for our lunch.
oh yes, vg S also does trapping his fingers in cupboard doors then leaning on it with the other hand, so I did laugh reading your post

lwfhthevampireslayer · 27/10/2009 14:22

DS update:

Favourite activities

  1. opening and closing doors, cupboards, draws
  2. going in lifts
  3. climbing stairs (he is rubbish at this, but does get quite upset if he can't try)

Sleep

We have been following the ostrich sleep training method here. Two nights ago he slept from 7.30pm-5.45am which I think is a record (we may have had a similar night once or twice at about 2-3 months old). Last night he was randomly awake at 3.30 for an hour or so.

Even when DS does sleep I am awake as am now nearly 33 weeks. Baby head down. Lots of kicking (although not this morning).

We are going to buy this double buggy. Am very excited and it will fit in the lift.

Weather

Nice and warm now. DS getting used to being suncreamed up, but still working on acceptance of the sun hat.

Hair

Slightly more now. Am wondering if I should take clippers to it as it looks really straggly.

Sorry to hear about poorly non-sleepy babies. Thoughts to all.
