night ethereal!

Im logging off too. Night everyone

essenceofSES · 10/10/2009 03:06

Hi all!
Sorry not been on for a few days. Been busy stressing about improving DS's sleeping habits. Actually shouldn't be stressing as it's going ok. A week ago I had a baby that co-slept most of the night and liked the comfort of having his boob exactly where he wanted it so he coud latch on whenever. He'd go to bed at about 10pm when I did and I'd wake up a couple of times in the night.
Now he's been asleep in his cot by 7.15pm the last 2 nights and although he's waking every 2.5 to 3.5 hrs, he's spending the night in his cot! I'm currently feeding him after a 3.5hr sleep

Sorry but will claim a name check amnesty except to say
Texas - welcome! Glad you seem to be settling in well.
Regiee - glad you had good hols.
Toffeemmum - v impressed with crawling baby!!

Must get myself a Halloween name...

Also meant to say, I had O weighed and his weight issues are well and truly behind him. Now 15lb14 and between 25th and 50th centiles

EtherealFiByTheSea · 10/10/2009 08:08

morning all

ses well done on the transfer to cot sleeping

*texas I found MN while pregnant with ds but didn't venture

EtherealFiByTheSea · 10/10/2009 08:11

meant to say great news about o's weight too

ScarySpangleMaker · 10/10/2009 08:45

Morning all

I disappeared for an early night last night. It's a lot easier to go to bed early when DH's not here as usually I'm up chatting to him. Still a bit tired tho as H was awake at 3, 5.45 and up for the day at 7. I fed him each time tho I'm not convinced he was hungry the second time. It was the lazy way to get him back to sleep tho.

Ses you have done brilliantly with O, both with his sleeping and his weight

I started on MN when we were TTC. I lurked for months then someone set up a thread for over 35's so I felt compelled to join in.

Arrrggghhhh someone please tell me this is a phase that will not last long- Jake is constantly making noise a sort of nnnnhhhhh nnnnhhhhh- and I mean constantly the only time he stopped yesterday was when he was feeding or sleeping and he has woken up today doing the same thing
He seem generally happy enough (a bit clingy as he wants to be sat up all the time at the moment and perhap slightly less smiley than usual) but just very very noisy... it is driving me crackers

zombietom · 10/10/2009 08:57

Oh and Ses sounds like you are doing brilliantly with the sleep and great news about O's weight

Salemchocolates · 10/10/2009 09:48

Morning everyone.

Ses Great news about the sleeping, but especially about the weight. It must make you feel so relieved.

zombie I think most babies go through a stage where they like to repeat a certain noise. Mostly because they like the sound off/feel of the noise. He'll get bored with it eventually, but in the mean time I can imagine it's a little bit annoying

texas I think you'll definitely fit right in with us . I discovered MN when my middle one was about 2 I think. I was looking for somewhere I could share experiences of raising bilingual dcs. Anyway. I lurked and sporadically posted on here for a few years, didn't join with the TTC thread as it seemed like they all knew eachother and I felt an intruder. Then sometime this Jan I stumbled upon the a/n thread. I was lurking until someone made negative comments mws, so as a mw I felt I had to jump in and defend my profession, then got chatting and I haven't left since .

Well, we've got an exciting morning here. C woke up sporting a brand spanking new tooth! (she also woke up with a brand spanking new snotty nose, but that's a different issue). She has been feeding a little less the last few days and I think it might be connected. My dd1 did the same, almost as if she couldn't bare the feel of anything (including breast) touching her gums.

She also slept until 9 again . That's after falling asleep at 5.30 last night, because she only had a 45min nap due to being out and about. So she slept 5.30-9 . She did have 3 feeds during that time, but still. What an amazing sleep marathon!

essenceofSES · 10/10/2009 09:55

Thanks for all your lovely encouragement!

Salem - yay for C's tooth! Hope the worst of her discomfort is over for now!

I'm feeling left out with no Halloween name but posting via phone as laptop broken. Will try and work out how to do it!

I'm off for spa day with NCT girls in a few minutes
DH is seeming v apprehensive but I'm sure they'll be fine.

pulapumpkin · 10/10/2009 10:07

ses- have a lovely day at the spa- I think it will be very good practice for DH to have O for the day and as you say, I'm sure they'll be fine so he will gain a lot of confidence. And well done on the sleep training and feeding .

salemchocs - wow C slept very well considering she had a tooth coming through- i remember with mine that first tooth was very upsetting for them so we had some disturbed days and nights.

zombietim- S has started making a similar noise to your J when he is either concentrating on something, or when he goes to sleep, so luckily it's not all the time. What is more annoying is that he likes to make "angry" sounds a lot, sometimes when he really isn't happy, but sometimes he is just practising .

texas- welcome to the thread. I like a bit of poker myself- do you ever play on the facebook texasholdempoker (it's not for real money)?

sausagemonstermash · 10/10/2009 10:25

Good moaning! (ahem)

Texas - love the spooky name change! My wedding is actually on halloween... 3 weeks today! Dp has gone off for his stag do today - racing at Ascot (rah!) then to some Bavarian beer hall in London. Was going to do food shopping today as have a friend coming this afternoon (again) to look after M whilst I study (again), but dp got up extra early and did a mahoosive Tescos shop for me. Was a bit girly and burst into tears before he left as have strange visions of him being dragged into ropey bars in Soho to fawn over nubile young things with pert boobs and legs up to armpits. He said that wasn't his thing.... ho hum, we'll see.....

Ses - yay re the sleeping! AND the weighing! I got M weighed yesterday just on hte off chance at the GPs (had to get more eczema gunge for her) - she's now 14lb 6oz, and is 20 weeks - only just below the 50th centile - probably around the 40th - so am quite chuffed. Both my Mum and dp's Mum keep going on about baby rice and rusks (!) - aaargh shurrup. M did lick a grape the other day - don't think she knew what to make of it. She'd much rather chew my hair at the mo, or my mobile phone.... eeergh.

Salem - CUTE profile pic on facebook!!

I have a dilemma! I have an old school friend / flat mate who I keep in touch from time to time, tend to see once or twice a year - last saw August last year... she is achingly trendy (not like me in the slightest) - is a graphic designer (studied at St Martins), very 'London', gone out with pop stars, artists... etc etc. She has sent me an email on facebook wanting to come and visit and say hello to M, and when am I getting married??!! EEK! I haven't invited her to the wedding . It would be nice to have her and her boyf there but all the tables / plans etc are sorted now.... I did invite some late people the other week and said that a load of RSVPs had come back, mostly family, to say that they couldn't come, so we had the opportunity to invite a few more friends... this was sort of true - she was absolutely fine with it, has said yes BUT her first baby is due TODAY so she MAY not make it.... so there MAY be space..... eeeeeeeeek help what do I do??!! I don't want to offend trendy friend..... and she really is nice. Ohgodohgodohgod I should have invited her in the first place, but I had to stop somewhere on the friends list......

HELP

Monstermomi · 10/10/2009 10:48

morning all.
ses, great news about O's weight, you should be so proud!

salem, a tooth! how exciting! sounds like she was very relaxed about the whole ordeal.

zombietom, yes. it's just a phase (keep repeating that). just a phase that will pass.

spangle, i find feeding H the 'easy' way to get her back to sleep as well in the night. however, this is the 2nd night in a row she's slept through past 6am. i hope, hope this is becoming a new habit.

everyone else, hiiii! be back later at the next BF.

Monstermomi · 10/10/2009 10:58

saus, xposted. don't worry about your dp on the stag do (though all brides to be do).

don't know what to say about your trendyfriend except to be honest is you can. or just invite her and hope for the best (eg your other friend having the baby) but obviously that's risky. could they be invited to any events before/after the wedding?

pulapumpkin · 10/10/2009 13:07

saus- I was going to say i think you should invite your friend- i have never known a wedding or party where there wasn't someone who wasn't able to make it on the day due to illness etc, so as long as you can change the seating plan at the last minute so it isn't obvious, then i am sure you could fit your friend and her bf in.

Salemchocolates · 10/10/2009 13:50

ses @ your spa day! I hope you're having a lively relaxing pamperingly girly time

saus I'd also say invite her. I'm sure that on the day you'll be able to squeeze 1 extra person in. I made a booboo on my wedding day. When we did the table arrangements I forgot to add 2 of my my cousins who had actually RSVP'd in very reasonable time . 1 took up the space of my godfather who was very ill on the day (he never knew my mistake ) and for the other they quickly magicked a chair from somewhere and she was in.

Salemchocolates · 10/10/2009 13:51

Oh and saus thanks for the compliments re-picture. I was cute back in the 70's, wasn't I

EtherealFiByTheSea · 10/10/2009 18:22

sausage i'd invite her.. you'll prob get a last min cancellation and if not I'm sure they'll squeeze them in somehow.

how's jake's noises zombie? i'm sure it's just a phase.

dh is putting ds to bed.. ds is worn out from a hard days play. i said he could choose any story for dh to read.. he chose the early learning catalogue!!! lol!!! poor dh has just come through after reading it 3times

runningscared · 10/10/2009 19:10

Hi All,
This may be a quick post as DH is attempting bedtime on his own upstairs and I think I may be required soon

Salemchocs is that really you, thought it was a pic of C! Its v cute!

Hiya texan nice to have you with us.

saus I'd invite too, we had six cancellations on the day of ours.

Fi lol at DS choice of bedtime reading

zombie A has been going 'geeeeeee' for days now. It was cute at first...

I know there are a few crafters on here. If you know etsy this blog is hilarious. Have been browsing it all afternoon. There really are some wierd things out there (NB. some are a bit rude)

Right think I am required... may be back later xx

llaregguBOO · 10/10/2009 19:17

Evening all!

sausage I have no idea about what you should do re trendyfriend. Maybe you should be honest and say that you didn't invite her but you'd like to invite her out for dinner after the wedding?

ses spa sounds bliss. Did you enjoy it? I am very much looking forward to a massage soon.

Belgian I can't keep up with the name changes either. I can't quite bring myself to watch the end of CJ. I want to, but the baby scenes were too much for me in my weakened state!

flippineck I can't get over your FIL and his cup! How rude!

Tummum I am shocked at G's crawling. How amazing is he? Go G!

I'm feeling a lot better after my 24 hour bug. So far the boys seem fine so I think it might be something I ate. Feeling quite weak though and sorry for myself.

You lot were chatty last night. I was lurking but not posting, but you were funny.

llaregguBOO · 10/10/2009 19:19

Oh and sausage DO share details of trendyfriends popstar liaisons. I could do with some vicarious glamour to brighten up my Saturday night on the sofa.

zombietom · 10/10/2009 19:26

Evening all, well we have had another day of Jake making his noise all day- I've started to get used to it and sort of zone it out! He has been in a pretty good mood though despite the weird moans.

We went for a walk to the chippy round the block earlier and he fell asleep in the pushchair and stayed asleep for about an hour after we got home even though he'd just woken from a 1 hour nap before we went out. He definitely seems to be moving towards longer naps (but less of them).

Oh and speaking of naps, this happened today and I thought it very strange. Jake had fallen asleep feeding so I cart him upstairs and put him down for a nap, he woke up whilst I was doing this and started crying, now usually I would try stroking his head and if necessary pick him up for a cuddle to see if he goes back to sleep but I was desperate for the loo, so I thought to myself 'I'll have to let him cry whilst I nip to the loo' As soon as I left the room he stopped crying!!! And when I went in after to switch the monitor on he was just drifting off to sleep. Will have to try leaving the room immediately next time he wakes whilst being put down

etherealfi how funny about your DS wanting the ELC catalogue, maybe he is planning his letter to Santa

salem C's first tooth- fab news

zombietom · 10/10/2009 19:35

running that Etsy blog is priceless- mind you some of my online Crafty mates do some rather X-rated embroidery... which reminds me my blog is very, very neglected

Salemchocolates · 10/10/2009 20:00

running Yes, It really is me! I had been thinking that C looked a bit like me as a baby and then my dad sent me that as he's scanning the all the old slides onto the computer at the moment. Amazing isn't it!

I had a quick look at the Etsy blog, but quickly switched it off as the dcs were right behind me and watching and I saw something that really wasn't for their eyes

We've just come back from a having a drink at the pub with the dcs. They like running around the garden + ds also had a go at practicing his pool skills! I wore one of my new (well, new to me ) skirts in a size 12 and they were comfy, maybe even a touch roomy. That's made me v. happy.

etherealfi Wait til your DS starts asking for the Argos catalogue. That's what mine do, lol.

saus I'm going to join llare in the queue for your glam friend gossip.

Right, bedtime for the dcs now and then dh and I will have dinner for once not together with the dcs. We might even open up a bottle of wine

pulapumpkin · 10/10/2009 20:13

salemchocs- I was so sure it was C in your FB profile photo- she is really like you!

We had a nice day today- we walked into town as it was a lovely sunny day, did a bit of shopping and took the kids on the Sheffield version of the London eye (not on the same scale but i still had to hide my fear of heights from the kids as DS1 wasn't sure he wanted to go on). Then we went to Pizza Express for tea, although poor DS2 kept screaming and i found it hard to calm him, even his dummy and BF didn't work. But once he'd done his GIANT poo he was much happier .
