i must've lost a post somewhere .

about dark, no eye contact, for some weird reason Harper settles down much better if i make her giggle before leaving the room. However, dds1&2 settled best when I didn't give eyecontact, etc. hmmmmmmmm.

zombietom · 23/10/2009 23:05

AP- attachment parenting-ie. baby wearing, bfing etc

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 23:10

G's not been v well earlier this evening.. crying and screaming when coughing she needed her first dose of calpol and has been sleeping next to me since she eventually conked out.. got me quite worried at one point as she kept gagging on all the phlegm. going to try dream feed now so hopefully she'll able to breathe through her nose.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 23:12

ah AP thanks.. looks like I've been doing that since ds!

zombietom · 23/10/2009 23:14

Fi hope G manages to sleep well tonight despite being ill

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 23:22

dream feed going well and her breathing is normal now thankfully.. as long as there's no more coughing fits i think she'll be ok..

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 23:37

dream feed finished and G still asleep so off to bed for me. night night xoxox

Salemchocolates · 24/10/2009 08:56

morning everyone,

Yawn. Really don't know what's going on with C. She woke at 3.30 last night, really can't remember the last time she woke that early. I did feed her, cos she was screaming, not for long, but I didn't want her to wake DH who could be getting called by work from 5 am and he needed all sleep he could get. She did actually really feed and had both sides. Then she woke again at 6.30, but didn't feed, just fell asleep when I took her in our bed. I really hope this is a fase.

re the eye contact thing and stuff. I always find that wakes my dcs more rather than going to sleep, so I try to avoid it. C seems to think that when I make eye contact it's time for play . The only thing that get her to sleep is when she finally realises that she's got a thumb and that doesn't tend to come until she's had a little whimper and cry. So I do have to let her have a short cry, long cries have the opposite effect, so its a very fine line with her between OK crying and bad crying, IYKWIM. Pitch black is also something she needs, so I'm going to get a black out blind and see if it helps with her napping trouble.

We're going to a NCT nearly new sale today. DH ended up being called at 7.30, so it looks like I'm going to have to go with all 3 dcs. Not looking forward to that, but I really want to go and see if I can get a few bargains.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 24/10/2009 09:44

morning! both dc's still on calpol today but at least they still slept through till 6.30am, we've been having a lazy am so far.

belgian black out darkness works here too but luckily we've got shutters along with the black out curtains so didn't have to get blinds.. i find the curtains on their own let in quite a lot of light round the edges good luck at the NCT sale fingers crossed for some bargains!

pulapumpkin · 24/10/2009 10:36

fi- hope your DS and DD get better soon. At least they slept well.

salemchocs- I know that there is a growth spurt around 6 months so C could be having hers a bit early?

DH and I went out to a gig last night and the PIL babysat. S woke at 9.30 and had about 3 ounces from a bottle of EBM while we were out. He then woke at 1.45 and 6 for feeds so still only going every 4 hours but we'll get there in the end i'm sure.

He just loves his food though- he gets all excited when he sees his baby rice being prepared, or when he has his bib put on .

Busy day today - we are picking up a car today (we've decided we need a second car) and then PIL have invited us all out for tea at a local cafe later.

sausagemonstermash · 24/10/2009 11:03

Helloooo

Just nipping in to say wotcha. Am at chez parents and they have taken M out for a while so I can get some work done, so I'd better do really.

Re wisdom teeth - all 4 of mine were growing wonkily - had one out at the dentist under a local..... the other 3 I had out under a GA. I was petrified cos I was a student nurse at the time and had just been on my theatres placement and had watched a wisdom teeth extraction..... owowoww nuff said.

M woke at 0630 today after her snoozyfeed at 11pm. Wooh!

I was given the GF book - can't believe people can stick to it rigidly, but I took a few tips from it, and M is now in her own cosy little routine - NOT like the ones in the book, but, ah, well, you know what I mean. (Not that I've actually had time to read a book since she's come along!)

Oooh and headless - no, I haven't described 'the dress' at all - tis nice, long sleeved (which is as rare as hen's teeth) and very plain, buttons down the back and up the sleeves. Tried it on last night for final fitting, and I burst into tears... I never thought anyone would ever want to marry me

Shiiiiiiiiiiit it's a week today!!!!!

flippineckitsabitspooky · 24/10/2009 13:09

lalalala I can't hear your wisdom teeth story sausage

I can however hear about your wedding dress! Sounds beatiful.

This time 10 years ago I was very hungover and just heading off on my honeymoon!

salem - hope the NCT sale is good. I think you're very brave going with the children, last one I went to was a scrum! Fingers crossed for some good bargains.

We had a better night last night, A slept until 2:30, had one boob and fell asleep on me, I dozed off too, then she woke a bit later and had another boob and went back in her cot and slept until 6.

Salemchocolates · 24/10/2009 15:29

Well, I'm back and it was v. busy, I queued half an hour just to get in . All for nothing too. The 9-12m rack was as good as empty while the others were still bursting with nice things, typical. Only gynormous toddler shoes, no more baby ones. No cosytoes for buggy, no baby swim suits. Lots of nice nursery stuff, but as we don't have a nursery that wasn't any good to me. I did get a little play suit in next size up, just so I didn't get home completely empty handed.

My mum phoned just as I got home. My 90yo grandmother has fallen in the night and spent all night on the floor crawling, trying to get to her phone. Around 8 oclock she managed to press speed dial and phoned a relative. Luckily she's not broken anything. She's being very stubborn about going to a care home, even though she really shouldn't live on her own anymore, because she's frail, not good on her feet and dementia is slowly starting to set in. On top of that she was refusing to have one of those help buttons, which really would have saved her from lying on the floor all night tonight. Her GP has now told her she's got no choice, so from next week she's going to have one of those buttons. No one can convince her regarding the home though. It's a shame, because most of her friends are in the home that she's on the waiting list for, so she would be far better of being amongst people. Now she just sits at home on her own all day, unable to leave the house.

sausage Your dress sounds nice. I like simple. I'd go for long sleeved in October too, very sensible

EtherealFiByTheSea · 24/10/2009 17:05

sausage the first time around I got married in october and like you eventually found a long sleeved wedding dress.. oh my was i glad i had sleeves when they did the photos. my hands got so cold they didn't defrost until after our starter course! your dress sounds beautiful and you must post photos.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 24/10/2009 17:14

I need to have a grrr..

it is lovely having dh back but... how is it that men manage to use loads of plates, knives and cups leave crumbs and said now used crockery etc all over the place and if they do remember to take anything back into the kitchen they leave it on top of the work surface in a disorderly pile right above the empty dish washer I do love him really but GRRR!

Thanks feel better now!

Salemchocolates · 24/10/2009 17:41

fi Don't get me started on applecores in this house. I always picture his house at work being full of applecores so he can't open the door without being covered by an avalanche of them

EtherealFiByTheSea · 24/10/2009 18:25

belgian rofl

FrightNightFebes · 24/10/2009 20:09

Evening

Just have eaten a lovely dinner of homemade pizza's (Ansley Harriott recipe) soooooooo yummy with a glass of red and a bit of strictly come dancing. Looking forward to x factor later too.

I need a nice evening as our nights are still very broken. DD joined the party at 3am too and DH seemed to sleep on his back (snoring) in the middle of the bed. He was a honey and took them both down for breakfast this morning so I could have a leisurely bath.

Glad your DH is back but sorry the DCs are not well Fi. Isn't it funny how we miss them so much when they are gone but they drive us mad when they come back!! PMSL Salem at the applecore mountain.

Salemchocolates · 24/10/2009 20:16

GRRR . It just took me over half an hour to get C to sleep. She's not being her usual self. Just as I thought it was safe to leave the room and I start tiptoeing in DH bursts in and wakes her up! Now dh is angry with me because I'm not allowing him into our bedroom to change out of his work clothes. I've given him some from the laundry basket which are washed and dry but not ironed and he's refusing to wear them because he's got a set of clothing in the wardrobe that he's already worn once and another GRRR.

febes Your pizza sounded nice.

No x-factor here I think. DH is home and he's not going to let me. I'd like to see what the twins are going to do this week though. They can't sing, but they are funny!

LoobyWooooooooh · 24/10/2009 20:51

evening

I am watching x-factor, DH is sulking in the dining room listening to music and knocking back red wine

M is still constipated but not as bad - will try more prunes tomorrow, going to buy some weetabix for her breakfasts for a change as she is now 6 months

muddleddaizy · 24/10/2009 21:01

Oh no Salem what a nightmare. Hope Dh manages to get to his clothes out without waking your dd. Fi I agree with you, can't live with them, can't live without them!!

I can see that I'm not going to get any benefits from the clocks going back tonight! Ds1 fell asleep over his supper at 6pm and Ds2 fell asleep at 5pm. I can see them both being awake at silly o'clock in the morning . Ds 2 has been sleeping a it better, mainly between 10pm-4am. Dh can't understand why I'm tired - getting up at 4am, when I reiterate that I am tired he just said 'well you wanted children' - thanks for the support love

Fi I wished I'd come to see you yesterday. All we saw was a speck in the distance that looked vaguely like the Queen on a boat! DS1 now thinks that the Queen in a boat!!

Flippin - Happy Anniversary and good luck with the teeth! I've got to go back to the dentist in about 10days for them to finish off my root canal work. It's no fun is it, the only positive is that it's free!

I went out with a friend for supper last night and left Dh with the boys. I kept my phone near me as I'd only been able to express 60mls. Dh sent me a picture of DS1 drinking Ds2's ebm. Apparently Ds1 had taken the bottle when Dh had his back turned. Thankfully ds2 was't hungry!!!

HeadlessLadyH · 24/10/2009 21:48

Evening all;

X factor eve here. Oh goody its the Twit Twats now!

fipp happy anniversary. Ten years is def worth a big celebration.

saus your dress sounds perfect. Can't wait to see your photos. Only a week to go. So exciting.

Oh and happy birthday to me. A mere 39 tomorrow.

Salemchocolates · 24/10/2009 21:59

Happy birthday for tomorrow headless! muddled at your ds1 stealing ds2's bottle of EBM. I suppose he knows ds2 is getting the good stuff!

Dh is still in his uniform, being stubborn. I managed to hijack the remote control, so I did get to see what John and Edward got up to this week. I think their singing was better, but the show not quite as good. Other than that I think they were all better than last week.

OH, just thought. sausage we haven't had your virtual hen night yet. Time's running out!

flippineckitsabitspooky · 24/10/2009 22:00

Evening all!

No TV on here, saw the end of Strictly but I'm not an X-factor fan. We've had a fun evening, DD1 is ill - it was just a cold (with a mucky cough) but this afternoon and evening she's had a temperature and threw up all over DH, she also kept saying her body hurt. Half wondering if it's swine flu. It's mean of me, but I'm glad it was DH she threw up on, I have a real problem with sick and might have been sick back at her .

Thanks for the anniversary wishes! 10 years is a long time, isn't it? We've been together 15 years now altogether. No real celebrations though due to lack of budget and babysitters.

headless - happy birthday for tomorrow! Anything planned?

salem - sorry to hear about your grandmother. Hope things get sorted out.

Monstermomi · 24/10/2009 22:08

flippin, happy anniversary!
LadyH, happy bday tomorrow.
Salem, ditto on Flippin's message about your grandmother. hope all is well.

just watching have i got news for you and waiting for Thick of it to start. didn't do much today but stay out of the way of a plasterer who did our kitchen ceiling. slowly but surely the kitchen will be finished -project going since March. sigh.

Don't forget to turn your clocks back. extra hour of sleep, mind .
