In honour of sausage's forthcoming nuptials, with a nod to imminent weaning.

salem, . um, what's a ring sling? I'm constantly carrying H around. and sometimes carrying her in the Baby bjorn which is uncomfortable (it's an old one). I'm going to look into a new sling.

flippineckitsabitspooky · 23/10/2009 22:38

momi - I know I'm not Salem, but thought I'd reply anyway . A ring sling is a piece of fabric with rings sewn on one end, you thread the other end through the rings to create an adjustable pouch (iyswim) that you then put over one shoulder; you can use them to carry LO on you front, hip or back. This site has more info (and is run by a friend of mine!). I love the idea of ring slings, but prefer two shoulder carries to spread the weight more (and love wraps!)

Evening all
flippin no advice about the teeth I'm afraid , when I read it I thought GA meant gas and air at first .
With the night waking have you tried just holding her very still -no speaking or eye contact , just a suggestion as I find that sometimes if I rock and shush J it seems to actually keep him awake and if I stop he gets sleepy.
Oh yeah and the stroking down his forehead to his nose sometimes sends him off

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 22:39

jenn awful that ds is still vomiting.. how's dd? is ds drinking dhyrolite i've been told that flat lemonade or isotonic drinks are good too for keeping up energy/mineral levels.

SinisterJenn · 23/10/2009 22:39

Momi I have a ring sling. It didn't sell at the NCT sale, but personally the wrap ones are much better. maya wrap

Monstermomi · 23/10/2009 22:44

flippin, Jenn, thanks for the sling info. i'm going to look into the wrap one next time I'm at theNCt sale (Dec).

zombietom, I love the stroking of the nose... makes H close her eyes. so sweet.

SinisterJenn · 23/10/2009 22:45

Fibts No not drinking dioralyte. He drinks ok during the day and keeps it down. Only when he eats does it come up.

dd2 is ok really. She has puked loads, but kept all of tonights feed down. I had to express for the first time this morning, as was engorged. She never really caught up today.

SinisterJenn · 23/10/2009 22:47

Oh and ds had loads of expressed bm today without realising

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 22:47

flippin i would 2nd the no eye contact or talking.. eye contact one is reeeaaallly hard even in near darkness! i just focus on G's chin and try not to directly catch her eye!

flippineckitsabitspooky · 23/10/2009 22:48

That stroking the forehead thing - I've tried it, doesn't work when I do it, but my mum does it and A's out like a light; mum used to do it to my nephew too.

Keeping still works better, but it's still a long time - she just leans back, looks around, blows raspberries on me etc etc. Last night I came downstairs so that we didn't disturb DH or DD1 and we sat on the sofa for ages. I had to switch the home bub off though, she kept watching the flashing lights!

SinisterJenn · 23/10/2009 22:48

And second dark, quiet, no eye contact. A la GF btw! [runs away and hides]

zombietom · 23/10/2009 22:49

Fi It is hard the no eye contact isn't it? Jake has a habit of blowing raspberries and cooing when I do this as he has learnt it make me giggle

flippineckitsabitspooky · 23/10/2009 22:50

home bub? Home hub of course. You know, the router thing.

SinisterJenn · 23/10/2009 22:51

Can you tell I've been drinking? [hangs head in shame] I'm going to bed now. Tired

zombietom · 23/10/2009 22:51

Jenn you cannot mention GF on MN!

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 22:51

jenn at ds unknowingly having ebm..

zombietom · 23/10/2009 22:52

You will be banned you know for mentioning she who must not be named

SinisterJenn · 23/10/2009 22:52

Yeah but you were all mentioning her tactics. I'm sorry but it's true! I don't advocate her btw!

SinisterJenn · 23/10/2009 22:53

You heartless so and sos

flippineckitsabitspooky · 23/10/2009 22:55

Right, off to bed now. Think DH is thinking he's going to get lucky. No chance!

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 22:55

GF does make for interesting reading but i took what i wanted from her.. far too rigid for me..

zombietom · 23/10/2009 22:55

I am more AP honest- just not when I am really really tired

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 22:56

night flipping xoxox

flippineckitsabitspooky · 23/10/2009 22:57

Last one from me tonight - I haven't read any parenting books. Should I?

Well, I did read the No Cry Sleep Solution. Bits worked, bits didn't. Guess that applies to all of the books, right?

Night all.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 23/10/2009 22:58

AP?
