In honour of sausage's forthcoming nuptials, with a nod to imminent weaning.

Running- don't worry about the monkey thing. Our DD was always called 'monkey'. Then we had DS1 and he was a 'monkey' and DD became a 'monkey moo' or 'mrs monks'. DS2 is usually just called 'little man' or 'mr grumpy' .

pulapumpkin · 22/10/2009 17:54

And we also refer to DD and DS1 as "trouble and bubble" sometimes and DD always says "i want to be bubble" - we do love and cherish our DCs honest .

Salemchocolates · 22/10/2009 18:30

It's even worse with us. When DH says to the dcs "what are you?" They know to answer: "pain in the a*" It gets said when they want a drink/snack/having a game put together etc... at inconvenient times. They know we love them though. I used to call dd1 dutch for 'my little girl' (not very imaginative I know) and now C is called that and dd1 is my big girl. Ds has funnily enough taken to calling C my little girl goo

Salemchocolates · 22/10/2009 18:31

too, not goo

Just had the bedtime from hell . Decided to try S in the cot in his nursery as it is on the top floor where DD and DS1 sleep so it might make things easier to manage (I seem to be on my own 2 or 3 nights a week so easier than trying to settle S downstairs and the DCs upstairs). Well S was OK about it, but DS1 kept going in and out of his room when S was trying to go to sleep, and then kept running away from me and i was getting more and more irate with him. He climbed onto S's window ledge and almost fell off as he jumped out saying boo. The worst came when he was going down the stairs on his bum as fast as he could to get away from me. I decided not to follow as it would only make him rush even more so i had to watch as he bumped his way down the stairs, laughing and giggling, almost toppling a few times. My heart was in my mouth. I just get so frustrated that he doesn't see the danger. Anyway, S is now back in our room. I can't face that again in a hurry.

pulapumpkin · 22/10/2009 20:00

Feel a bit happier now though as the maternity coat i put on ebay is now at £18 and the auction closes on Sat morning . I only paid £20 for it new (it was in the jojo maman sale last jan, RRP £50).

EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 20:22

Pula you have my sympathies with ds1... we have a similar boisterous dare devil darling ds at bed time too. Bouncing like a tigger on speed, yawning & coughing all at the same time with me threatening to stop reading his bedtime story unless he gets back into bed right away G meanwhile was wide awake lying on ds's bedroom floor beside me and giggling at ds throughout! Nice one on the bids on your coat.. let's hope there's a bidding war at the last min too

Monstermomi · 22/10/2009 21:02

salem, 'pain in the a**'...

Monstermomi · 22/10/2009 21:22

Pula, scary night you had with ds1. on the other hand glad your coat is doing well on ebay.

love the converation about nicknames. my dd1 is 'pookie', dd2 is 'pumpkin', dd3 is 'peanut'... in reality, though we interchange the names. and I often call all of them 'poppet' .

EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 21:27

loving the nicknames I call DS 'scrummy' at times to which recently he's been replying in a most vehement stomping foot kinda way 'I'm NOT SCRUMMY mummy I'm just Finn'

Monstermomi · 22/10/2009 21:32

fi, my dd1&2 say that as well when I call them things.

anotherthing, i love to call H a Stinkbomb when she's on the changing mat. how ridiculous am I?

EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 21:32

btw... between me, ds, my mum & dad we've eaten over half the chocolate cake already

SinisterJenn · 22/10/2009 21:33

pukey mattress, pukey carpet, pukey philnted snuggle, chapped bleeding hands, whiney ds who can't understand why mummy is starving him so mummy gives in and hey presto vomit city.

On the brighter side, we (dh) had to go to court to get it, but we won and we have the 'good housekeeping' deposit back from the cow who lied and got it back with interest and expenses

ScarySpangleMaker · 22/10/2009 21:34

pula I think you need to get yourself a nice big glass of wine

salem what Momino said

sausage and bbrrreeeeeaaaatthe! Your hen do sounds fun. I think we need to see some photos

H gets called Mr Boo to his face or The Beast between me & DH. In fact he gets called The Beast more than H

We've had a nice day today. DH took a day off as he's quiet at work. He took H to Baby Sensory so I could have an hour or two to myself. I cleaned the bathroom and had then planned to put my feet up with MN but BIL & eldest niece called round on their way to visit MIL in hospital. It wasn't a bad interruption though as they brought chocolate cake . MIL was discharged this afternoon (she had an op to put a tube between her kidney and bladder yesterday), so DH and I made a meal for PIL and took it over to their house this evening. H was tired and grumpy but cheered up as soon as he got hold of a bit of bread to chew on, and stayed happy and smiley until we brought him home an hour ago... now out for the count.

Headless I got a pep talk from the HV about BLW because it's such a slow process. I know it's ok for it to take time but I needed a bit of encouragement, especially as all the babies I know in RL are on 3 meals a day and doing proper sausage shaped poos (not that I'm in a rush to get those, yuk!). I'm sure they'll get there in the end. I can already see after a couple of weeks that H is getting much better at picking up food and bringing it to his mouth.

Hope you're all having a nice evening.

managed to catch the last half hour of masterchef to see who won i'd not managed to see the last few days & not surprised who won in the end.

DH said he's missed us loads this week and can't wait to come home to cuddle his wife and see his kids

FrightNightFebes · 22/10/2009 21:44

We have a Monkey (DD) and a Chunky Monkey (DS) .

Still rubbish sleep last night here but getting slighty better so I live in hope. I feel we have really turned a corner though as he goes to sleep perfectly at 7pm now .

DH has taken the roof off our conservatory and will be building another over the weekend so we now have a open-aired washing machine room and a proper outside loo. When finished it will be double glazed and much nicer so I can't wait.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 21:45

jenn poooor you and such a poooorly DS I hope he's a lot better tomorrow. I can hardly bear it when dcs are unwell like that... you just want to wave a magic wand and make it all better. good news getting your deposit ++ back shame you had the hassle of court though.

FrightNightFebes · 22/10/2009 21:49

PMSL at sauasge shaped poos the things we talk about with our mum friends!!!

EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 21:51

I'm taking note of all your BLW experiences in readyness of weaning G... she's now 5months old (today!) and so far still happily sleeping through and quite settled... she's def very interested in what we're all eating/drinking as she follows every mouthful with such intent staring! she can grab certain toys and get them to her mouth but also tends to fling them quite a long away by accident too. I hope that doesn't continue with her food too or we'll need to redecorate lol.

febes ;) lol at your outside loo... fingers crossed it doesn't rain too hard!

ScarySpangleMaker · 22/10/2009 21:56

Febes good news on the bed time. I was a bit by the poo, friend was changing her DS's nappy & was talking about the brand of nappy so I looked down and saw this orange sausage shaped thing sticking out of her DS's bum. I'm afraid to say I couldn't conceal my surprise!

OP posts:
EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 22:00

spangle just wait until they do such a huge poo that it gets squished into the shape of the gaps in the nappy & their bum!! lol oh and with boys imprints of his balls too!!!

EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 22:11

come back... i didn't mean to put you all off you get used to it honest!

EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 22:41

are you all watching asleep or have i just frightened everyone off?

EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 22:43

sorry that's watching question time.. asleep or...

EtherealFiByTheSea · 22/10/2009 22:55

I thought about watching question time and then decided not to increase their viewing numbers... there's really nothing much on at all.

anyone heard from grumpy spooky?
