I've had a day of lying in bed or on the sofa. Think I've had a bout of food poisoning. Whatever it was, it made me feel very ill and achy yesterday evening and resulted in me throwing up spectacularly at 5am all over our bedroom carpet

Felt so rotten DH had to take the day off to do childcare. DD apparently went into school telling everyone "mummy was sick on the carpet". Nice.

Feeling a bit better now, and am enjoying doing eff all and being brought things.

Ah, Johnny Depp. He's the only real celeb crush I've ever had. I used to love him in 21 Jump Street when I was a teenager. One of my celeb clients had a TV series which Johnny Depp did a guest spot on once. They said he was "a peach".

Speaking of This Life, I was friends at uni with Ramon Tikeram who played Ferdie (the gay biker). He was very nice, and very intelligent. He came to my room once to listen to my stereo (and no, that's not a euphamism )

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 14/10/2009 20:29

Dandy - that sounds really rotten. Poor you. Glad you're starting to feel a bit better.

All pasta gone here now! DH actually said it was nice so I think I'll be cooking that again!

Now watching "In Her Shoes" on DVD.

FrightNightFebes · 14/10/2009 20:33

Oh no hope you're feeling better soon Dandy. Kids always telling the funniest stories about their parents at school. Nothing is sacred-reception class is a hoot. I'm so with you on the Johnny Depp crush. Love 21 Jump Street hot undercover cops playing teenagers .

It's my DH's 30th Birthday this weekend and we are having a party on Friday night. We used to host parties lots pre DCs so I'm looking forward to returning to being hostess with the most-est again but a little nervous and hope DCs sleep and behave. We are having balloons and a photo board and a banner and cake and everything. DH is going to hate love it.

HeadlessLadyH · 14/10/2009 20:38

dandy poor you. Hope you feel better soon, but think of the weight loss!

Salemchocolates · 14/10/2009 20:44

Evening everyone.

selebspots Can everyone please stop it. I'm starting to feel the need to glam up my life a little reading all these exciting encounters/spots Actually any of my celebspots will only really mean anything to euroghoul I've served met Guy Verhofstadt many a time as a teenager, before he hit the big time. My godmother used to work for VTM and was the PA to Zaki, I'm not sure if you know him. My nieces godfather is also the organiser (or used to be organiser anyway) of the 'Festival van Vlaanderen'. And another niece used to go out with the half brother of Helmut Lotti.
sausage friend has the best one of all though. Johny Depp, swoon swoon swoooooon. I used to have his poster on my wall as a teenager. Everyone else had Brad Pitt, but I liked Johny Depp much better!

jael Glad to hear that you've found something you're happy with with regards to feeding. Honestly, all I really wanted to say before was that you need to do what's right for you and your baby. If you're happy and ds is happy, then that's all that counts. So I'm very glad to hear you're all happy Also lovely to hear that your Dd is loving nursery. My dd1 used to love nursery too. She always used to run out full of excitement and stories which was lovely. Now she's in Y1, that enthousiasm has died a little. She needs to write and think more and play less you see

demonic Hope you're feeling a bit better soon. An early night for you today I suppose.

momi If your GP had felt your abdomen he should have felt the diastasis, but only if he made you lift your shoulders, IYKWIM. I don't think it would cause abdo pain either though.

pula I hope your dad wont suffer too much with the side effects of the radiotherapy and that he'll get better soon. Sending you a non-mny hug

We went to baby clinic today. To my big surprise C still following the line. She seemed to have gone of her food for the last week or so, I think because of her teeth, so I thought she might have tailed off a little. But no.

llaregguBOO · 14/10/2009 20:44

Dandy that's exactly what I had Friday/Saturday. I rang the doctor who told me that I "had an infection" and to drink lots of coke to keep my energy levels up. It was horrid, but the good news is I was fine on Sunday. A couple of people have suggested that it might have been swine flu, but I'm not convinced. I hope you feel better soon.

ladyh sorry, no crumble this evening. I'm too cold to move off the sofa. I'm wrapped up with my furry blanket and the Colin Firth P&P.

Febes that sound like fun!

pula thinking of you and your family, and hoping that the treatment goes well.

jael hello!

EtherealFiByTheSea · 14/10/2009 21:00

dandy urrrgh poor you! I hope it's a over quick whatever and that you're feeling better v soon.

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 14/10/2009 21:19

thanks for the well wishes

I'm hoping I'm ok for tomorrow, DH can't really take another day off work.

Monstermomi · 14/10/2009 21:44

evening all.

just sitting in front of football (i actually don't mind watching when England are playing - I love the World Cup), digesting pizza, catching up on everyone's news.

Dandy, hope you're feeling better soon. at your DD telling it like it is to nursery.

pula, I've been wondering about your dad, hope radiotherapy goes well for him.

Salemchocs, GP did feel all round my abdomen and didn't say anything about diastasis so i guess that isn't it.

Febes, your DH's party sounds fun. also meant to say, loved your SIL's painting, hope she sold for a good price.

Jael, hi! I try to keep up with how you're doing via FB. glad you and family are well.

oh. and I I loved 21 Jump Street. and This Life. speaking of old TV (and I'm showing my age here) my friend has DVDs of Thirtysomething which i loved when I was in my late teens/early 20's, pre-children - don't know why I liked it. I would love to see it now as a mum and being older than the characters were then. but the DVDs are Region 1 and our player only does the region 2. boo.

texasghouldem · 14/10/2009 21:44

Hi everyone!

First chance I've had to MN this week. There's been so much chat since last time I was on so I have only just skimmed the last few pages

runningscared - are you weaning your LO atm? I've been feeding DD puree's for a few weeks now. Im a bit unsure about how much milk she needs now that she is eating food . Did you say your LO takes just 2 bottles a day? We are finding it very difficult to get DD to take her bottle now!

monstermomi - hope you aren't in too much pain . I defo know what you mean about the flying baby game. While at DP's parents house on Sunday, I did this with DD not long after her lunch on me and she was sick in my mouth and all down my top even managed to get my bra !!

looby - I hope your doing alright and get things sorted with your DH. Nobody should have to do anything they don't want to especially when they are in pain

salem - how are you?! I wanted to ask (if you don't mind) if you enjoy being a midwife? Since being pg and having DD it is something I have thought about getting into (wouldn't be for a few years though) but just wondered if you really enjoy it. I have heard that it can be hard on family life as there is a lot involved but I suppose that can happen with a lot of different professions. thanks

Been a tiring couple of days. I think DD may be teething as she has been very grumpy the past few days and really not settling at all when it comes to her naps (and going down at bedtime). Ended up walking over 7 miles yesterday and over 4 today as I know that she needed her naps but just wouldn't settle any other way . Btw I only know I walked that far as my phone counts the number of steps you take and converts this into miles - very handy if your training for a long run or something!!

sausagemonstermash · 14/10/2009 21:44

Dandy - sorry you've been poorly

And also, re: Ferdie - eeeerrrmmmahemmmm, that, like, SO sounds like a euphamism! I was bonking dating a chap a few years ago, and he asked me what I was up to one day... told him the men were coming round to do my fireplace. He thought it was a euphamism for trimming the lady garden area. He really didn't believe me that, actually, men were coming round to re-do my fireplace..

I know re friend and Johnny Depp! Couldn't believe it when she told me! After that, he was so grateful for what the hospital did, that one day he turned up in his Captain Jack Sparrow outfit and visited EVERY ward (there's quite a few!) and was pirate-y all day! AND he donated a million squid. Even more swooney. (I even fancied him as Sweeney Todd!)

OH and backintheday of working there many eons ago, I was seeing (ahem) a chap there who was a ported and he used to escort Princess Diana around when she did her secret midnight visits. Which I always thought was a bit odd, if you ask me

Saw my nephews today (age 5 and 8). God, they're terrors. They do love M, though. Ah bless. They did squeak her giraffe toy a little bit too much which sent the dog loopy..

I think M has cracked the sleeping through thing.... last dreamfeedy thing around 11ish and now we can go till 6am ish! She tends to fall asleep again though after a bit of a play for a couple of hours, so I usually get a bit more sleep then. Hooray! (you watch, she'll be up all night now....)

Just realised with all the sleb talk - most of mine are to do with friends claim to fames. I guess my chat with the Queen Mum circa 1980 isn't really much cop.... ah well.

sausagemonstermash · 14/10/2009 21:47

He was a porter. Don't know what a ported is.....

..... maybe that's worse.....

.... I best shut up now. Digging myself a deep hole.....

HeadlessLadyH · 14/10/2009 21:52

saus I was never really a JD fan but having read your post, I may just have to start fancying him a bit. What a fab thing for him to do.

Hope M doesn't let you down now!

Monstermomi · 14/10/2009 21:56

sausage .
I fancied him in Sweeney Todd as well.

llaregguBOO · 14/10/2009 22:04

I loved Johnny Depp in 21 Jump Street. I had a VHS recording of it which a friend of mine and I used to watch over, and over again. We must have been very young at this point.

ANyway, on the tape there was an advert on the tape for Heinz tomato sauce. It was set in New York and there was a very cute young chap in the advert buying a hot dog. He then ran up to the top of one of the buildings to balance his tomato sauce bottle so he could wait to catch the sauce on his hot dog at the bottom to prove that the best things come to those who wait. We fancied that chap for ages and I was AMAZED when years later he popped up as Joey in Friends.

Toffeeapplemmum · 14/10/2009 22:05

Hello everyone. Am back from the caravan show. Having bought a caravan . We are now very broke ! I am now having anxiety about whether we bought the right one, was it the right price, do I actually like caravaning in the first place... (still not sure on that one )

You lot have been chatting loads, so my very quick catch up (apols if I Have forgotten anyone) is:

Saus double-swoon at JD

Momi hope the painful abdos get sorted soon

Am a bit worried about Looby & hope she is OK

Hope you feel better Dandy

How is your sister getting on with her paintings Febes?

Really hope that your Dad's treatment goes well Pula.

Jael nice to see you back. I am weaning G on purees at the mo, and he is wolfing them down. Very funny to watch him suck them off the spoon

Llare how is the swimming going?

llaregguBOO · 14/10/2009 22:07

Oh yes, Febes. Your SIL's paintings are fantastic. I really like them.

Tummum well done you! How exciting. When do you get it? The swimming is going well only I haven't been since last Friday due to illness. I did a Davina workout on Monday and now I can barely walk due to the agonising pain in my thighs (all those squats!) so I couldn't face swimming. I'm going in the morning though.

Monstermomi · 14/10/2009 22:08

am eating B&J's choc fudge brownie ice cream from the tub. and

Monstermomi · 14/10/2009 22:10

llare, when do you have to finish the swim?

Toffeeapplemmum · 14/10/2009 22:14

of yummy ice cream Momi Llare We get the caravan in December and have to pick it up from Hull (!). It's a lovely (TMI caravan stuff alert) 6 berth with bunks in the back for the DC, so they have a little bedroom that we close the door on at night and have the rest of the van to ourselves so we can have relations (yeah, right!!) watch Telly/eat in peace.. I have to admit, I don't want to set foot in another caravan for a while as I went in so many today I can't remember what any of them looked like. And they do all look the same really !

Monstermomi · 14/10/2009 22:18

toffeemum, HOw could you be at ice cream when you've just got a fabulous caravan? i'm very back at you. I'll trade you then - a tub of Ben&Jerry's for your caravan .

llaregguBOO · 14/10/2009 22:19

Momino, it's the first week of December so I need to increase my sessions really. At the moment I am doing half a mile a session which I can increase easily so finishing in the timescales should be fine.

Monstermomi · 14/10/2009 22:20

putting the lid on the ice cream and going to take a hot bath which should help my tummy muscle soreness and read a good book (not too late is it?).

HOpe you all have a good night.

Monstermomi · 14/10/2009 22:22

but popping on quicky just to say llare, so impressed with the swimming.

sausagemonstermash · 14/10/2009 22:38

llare do you mean this

I looooooooooved him. Ooooh, the wink at the end!!!

Talking of VHS, we used to have a copy of Dirty Dancing at school, and it was played all the time..... it was always paused in the bit where Patrick Swayze (RIP, bless him) and Jennifer Grey were practising their dance in the dance studio, and PS kneeled up and there was, ahem, a 'dent' in the trouser area.... of course it was just a crease in the trousers, but we didn't think that!
