sausage Swoon at Johnny Depp. I have heard from several sources that he is a thoroughly decent chap, and is known to be one of the A-Listers most willing to sign autographs. Did your friend like him then?

febes yes, I bet reception teachers do hear the works . A few weeks ago DD said to me:

"Mummy, I drew your breasts and your ... this bit"
"My nipples. Ah. And where did you draw this picture?"
"At school."
"Oh good."

Cue drawing coming home in DD's book bag four days later of a woman with big breasts, complete with nipples At least it didn't end up on the classroom wall ...

Momino I also loved thirtysomething! And yes, I was a teenager at the time. They seemed so sophisticated. Do you watch Brothers & Sisters? I love that. And two of the actors from Thirtysomething are in it.
21 Jump Street and This Life are two of my favourite series ever. A year or two ago I ordered the DVD collection of 21 Jump Street. It still stands the test of time. (Is that very sad of me? )

Hope Looby is OK.

llaregguBOO · 14/10/2009 23:01

Oh, all of my favourite shows, Dandy. Do you know when Brothers & Sisters is back? My favourite show of all time is the West Wing. I'd love just one more series.

I've sent Looby a message via facebook.

chocolatebunnies · 14/10/2009 23:16

just popping on a bit before bed... so just a few quickies

hiya chocb i've been keeping uptodate with your fb updates when i get on but glad to hear everything is going so well well done on your distinction!!!

texas we're not at the weaning stage with g yet but when we started with DS he sorta dropped milk amounts gradually on his own... If i remember right. It was quite a few months before he dropped the odd whole feed and relaced it with food iyswim? Sorry to not be more help.

dandy glad you are a bit better and take it as easy as you can tomorrow... love the dd drawing btw

tummum many congrats on your caravan!

Toffeeapplemmum · 15/10/2009 07:56

Morning all. Will catch up properly later, but had to let you know the exciting news that G slept through last night, and is still asleep

The bad news is that I am still knackered because some b woke us up at 3am by trying to kick our garage door in . So happy it happened when DH was here otherwise I would still be shaking in the corner. Funnily enough, I had forgotten to lock the back door but the b wasn't clever enough to try the handle of that particular door, thank goodness. Phew-wee.

Speak laters

EtherealFiByTheSea · 15/10/2009 08:44

oh no tummum what a fright it must have given you. very lucky he didn't find your backdoor glad you're all ok and yay for sleeping through! off to do pre school run back later.

runningscared · 15/10/2009 10:05

tum scary stuff, glad they didn't break in though. Oh and YAY re sleeping through

texas no am not weaning A yet, she is 19 weeks this week and I'm planning to wait at least another couple as I have serious allergies in my family so want to wait to near to 6mo as possible. She is mix fed and has a 2 bottles a day on top of her bf.

choc lovely to hear from you, so glad life is going well and Corey sounds like he's doing brilliantly

dandy sorry you're feeling ill and hope you are feeling a bit better soon.

llare I love the West wing although discovered it v late and so haven't got to the end yet.

Sorry not to namecheck all. A has just noisily filled her nappy...

Salemchocolates · 15/10/2009 10:24

Tummum How scary. But at least it happened when your DH was home. Still v. scary. Also at your caravan. Our dcs have a little bedroom too, but only a curtain separates them from us. I want a bedroom with a door too! I wish I lived a bit closer, I'm dying to have a peek at it

ChocB So glad to hear from you. I'd been wondering how you're doing. Your C sounds about my C's size. She's 20lbs and in size 6-9m clothes too

demonic Right after C's birth my dd1 took to drawing pics of me with a baby's head between my legs

johny depp What a wonderful thing he did. I think the dressing up thing was in away even better than the donation, because it must have made the day of everyone in the hospital.

texas I do enjoy my job, but yes it is hard work. The training took a lot of hard work and probably the most stressfull thing I've ever done. TBH if I'd know what it would be like, I would never have done it, lol. But now I'm on the other side, I'm happy. Now that I'm qualified I work part time, partly because I want to have time with my family, but also as a way of stress control. I find a lot of mw do the same. Most of my full time colleagues are very very stressed and a lot of them tend to go off sick due to stress, though the situation is a little better at the moment thanks to the government pledge to employ more mw. However I'm a bit worried with all this talk about the government wanting to cut spending again. Often maternity is one of the 1st places they like to do that cutting

I can't comment too much on the weaning either. I do remember that the feeds dropped naturally and fairly gradually. Before the age of 1 milk is really baby's main source of nutrients, so she really still needs to take all lot of milk.

C is even more snuffly today. The nose drops work though. She was struggling to go to sleep for her nap due to her nose, so I thought I'd try her back in her cot, because she was really flat in our bed and I didn't want to put her on a pillow. I've got some bed blocks to raise her cot that I bought, because I found the pillow under the mattress technique never quite worked very well. Anyway, it took a while, but I've finally got her to sleep without crying in her cot. It's the 1st time since we started our nap training programme, so I think we're getting there

Gosh it's cold today. Brrr, I might have to switch the heating on again.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 15/10/2009 10:35

arrrgh pre school have just phoned they think ds has chicken pox! spots have started to appear on his tummy poor little man. can anyone remember how long the incubation period is? will have to wait and see if g gets it. this is typical timing as I'm on my own for 7days from sunday! ho hum

zombietom · 15/10/2009 11:14

Oh no! Fi !

Hi choco nice to hear how you are getting on

Dandy and Salem brilliant stories about the drawings- do you have them displayed somewhere?!

Jake is in size 6-9 months too and his feet are enormous- he needs 9-12 month socks really!
Must get him weighed- haven't been to clinic for a while
Anyone elses LOs very unsettled in the evening- the past few weeks Jake has gone back to cluster feeding in the evening
and is often not asleep until 10ish (he used to zonk out at 7.30 )

Has anyone heard from Looby?

runningscared · 15/10/2009 11:29

Oh no Fi! think the incubation is 2 weeks

EtherealFiByTheSea · 15/10/2009 12:25

back home now.. at least it explains why he's been so grumpy lately! off his food today too.. I offered him some tyrels salted crisps with his lunch and he's not touched them at all which is definitely not like him! put beebies on and i'm sitting feeling itchy all over now just thinking about cp. at least i've had them so G should have a bit of immunity from me. I think she gets her last immunisations end of month.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 15/10/2009 12:28

not heard from looby.. must check fb

sausagemonstermash · 15/10/2009 12:50

Hello chocs!

Am really worried about Looby.... - has anyone got her number to drop her a text or anything?

Salemchocolates · 15/10/2009 12:50

I think incubation is 2 weeks too, fi. Get something agains the itching for your ds. I used calamine lotion on my two and it worked well. I also remembered my mum using it and I loved the cooling feeling myself. If it is CP, your ds definitely deserves a beebies day or 2 or 3

I'v been wondering about Looby too. It's unlike her not to update us about life.

C's just done a mahoosive poo. She was on my lap and it had leaked onto me and the sofa, but I didn't notice until I got up to fetch some water. I hadn't noticed, because somehow she'd manage to leak onto me, but miss her own trousers .

sausagemonstermash · 15/10/2009 12:51
EtherealFiByTheSea · 15/10/2009 13:02

I've texted looby to see how she is.. i'll let you know when i hear.

luckily i have calamine lotion already from when cp did the rounds before and we missed it. i've also nipped out and bought calamine aqueous cream which works bit better too apparently. will see how we go & in a way hoping G does get it so we can get it out of the way.

thanks for the soothing vibes but i'm still feeling itchy.. no sign of anything on me btw!

EtherealFiByTheSea · 15/10/2009 13:07

belgian lol but urrrgh.. it's amazing how it gets out and on us but missing them! i don't know how G does it either

HeadlessLadyH · 15/10/2009 13:29

fi also sending non itchy vibes to your DS. Poor little man.

It is strange about looby not being on. Really hope she's ok.

LOL at the drawing by your DD dandy. Its priceless the stuff they come out with.

chocbunnies nice to see you too. Good to hear you and your little family doing so well!

Am off to work at 4pm. And am strangely excited by it! Its just for a training course being put on for us by some big London barristers. But in reality its an excuse for a bit of a piss up. It will be good to catch up with people and have one or three glasses of wine! Must must must be good with the food though. Only lost 0.5lb this week.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 15/10/2009 13:41

ladyh ooo sounds like you'll have a good time. don't mention weight-loss i've stuck at the same weight for 3wks now.

sausagemonstermash · 15/10/2009 14:04

Weightloss shmeightloss. Good job my wedding dress is a bit empire line-y!

Ethereal - you're not wearing an itchy woolly jumper are you?! I am today, and this CP talk is making me itch..

I hate this fluffy fine rain.... either pour down or not at all, please! Pah.

Oh, and ethereal, FYI

EtherealFiByTheSea · 15/10/2009 14:42

the itchyness is just in my head sausage wearing plain old smooth cotton jersey today! i forgot about nhs direct so thanks for the link it was perfect xoxox

looby is fine she just texted me back with a gorgeous photo of M and said she'll try to get on later.. so we're not to worry.

pulapumpkin · 15/10/2009 15:15

Fi- good to know Looby is OK. I was a bit anxious too. Sorry to hear your DS has the CP- he did sound very sleepy and out of sorts in your recents posts- i think the CP is horrid in that the DCs feel poorly before the spots come out, when you don't realise they are ill. I think it is about 2 weeks incubation which is a pain in the backside when you can't go anywhere with the DCs just "in case" they have it.

I went to playgroup this morning, and have never seen DS2 fight sleep so much- he wasn't crying, but was soooo tired - he has big bleeding marks on his head where he scratched his head due to tiredness . He had half an hour sleep on return but was so grumpy i put him back in his cot after an hour awake and he's been asleep for nearly 2 hours now . Hope he will be more cheery when he gets up. DD is at after-school club so at least i didn't have to wake him again to do the school run.

Tonight is the third night this week i will be doing the bedtime routine on my own as DH is in London AGAIN. At least he doesn't work on Fridays so i can have a rest tomorrow. I'm also getting my haircut tomorrow- it's been over 5 months so needs some attention.

sausagemonstermash · 15/10/2009 15:45

Phew re Looby

EtherealFiByTheSea · 15/10/2009 16:41

pula the incubation period was my thought too. we were due to go to a birthday party of one of ds's pals wk on sat which i've cancelled and fortunately it's half term for pre school after next friday. G went to sleep exceptionally early last night for her and has had longer than normal naps today also so kinda hoping we'll know about her v soon. ds has a small temp and will be off to bed early tonight i think going by how tired he is already. i'm going to get cabin fever though!
