runningscared · 14/10/2009 09:56

Oh yeah my friend worked on the family apparently they were indeed lovely but bonkers!

Monstermomi · 14/10/2009 10:54

mornin all. had a night simlar to flippin: H awoke at 4ish and didn't go back to sleep. i dozed in between trying to feed her and her playing. DH is home today so has been able to take DD1&2 to nursery which was a help.

Also have been to doc today for continuing abdom pain/strain. since giving birth, my lower abd (mostly right side) and hip have been really sore like I've done too many sit-ups (but I've not done any!). It's a constant dull pain so I've been to doc who thought it could be bowel but has decided to try the lower back strain route and I've got exercises now to do to see if it helps. i also think my abdominal muscles stretched so much in this pregnancy, i'm feeling the after-effects. maybe?

running, love the sound of a pj day. but i'm already dressed so opportunity gone .

silly thing i just did: having just fed H, i was doing Flying Baby over my head and she dropped a burpful of regurgitated milk glob on my shoulder, narrowly missing my face/mouth. i forgot to read the fine print, 'Flying Baby game not to be played following milk feed '.

Salemchocolates · 14/10/2009 11:15

Momi, I've done that before. By the time you get to baby no3 you'd think I'd have learnt my lesson, lol.
I hope those excercises work. Odd to go from abdo pain to a back strain diagnosis . If he thinks it's your abdo muscles, maybe it might be worth seeing a physio? Sometimes you can get a diastisis (i.e. a gap) between your abdo muscles and physios can help you solve that.

HeebieJeebieReeBee · 14/10/2009 11:18

hello

just checking in to say I loved the celeb spotting chat and hope everyone is ok.

right, off again as loads to do - mum and dad are coming today as DH and I are off to the races in Ludlow (corporate hospitality thing_ at 7am tomorrow... and not back until Friday afternoon, eeek. Have got about 22 fl oz frozen EBM and several cartons. Feel a little anxious but excited.

euroghoul · 14/10/2009 11:39

Hello,

Just a quickie to wish nice easy days on those who had bad nights . And to say congrats to Fi re your dh's exam, as I forgot last night. You will be fine while he's away!

Also can't resist replying to salemchocs about the schools thing in Belgium - was a bit that it used to be sign up in August to start in Sept! We have just started looking for a place for dd at preschool (ie the kleuterklas), for Sept next year when she is just over 3. We are too late as all children born in 2007 had to be enrolled by May this year. We are running around putting her on waiting lists everywhere in the hope that at least one school will have a place for her by the time she has to start school age 6 ...

Anyway, better get on with meal planning and arranging supermarket delivery while T sleeps. He has a very low tolerance for entertaining himself while I mn do important things on the computer.

Salemchocolates · 14/10/2009 12:24

Euro Really? Gosh, my brother didn't have to do anything like that. Maybe there's more compitition around Brussels? There used to be a rule/law that no child could be refused a school place, i.e. schools couldn't say that they were full. Maybe that's changed recently. I'll check with my dad, because he works as a manager in a school (in charge of the buildings and maintenance + maintenance staff) I remember going to my secondary school over the summer hols to get enrolled for that same September. How things must have changed!
Funny how you said you're doing a supermarket delivery. My mum claims you can't have home delivery in Belgium. Obviously she's talking rubbish, as she often does

Monstermomi · 14/10/2009 13:27

salemchoc, I'd forgotten about that abdo gap thing. do you think it would have been obvious to the GP if that was a problem ? anyway, it seems a bit of a mystery so hoping these exercises will help.

ok. still haven't done my CTF thingy for Harper . off to do it now whilst she sleeps.

HeadlessLadyH · 14/10/2009 13:41

ses did you enjoy your wine last night ? Did O wake up?

dandy blimey you seem to have seen it. YOu have a very good memory! That could well have been the one. There was also a wannabe pop star in a girl group called Suga. They went nowhere funnily enough and she is now front of house at a restaurant we go to quite reg. There was also a lingerie designer with a baby, a foodie type (he went on to do bits and bobs of telly stuff but nothing major), a graphic designer who we now see out and about as he has kids now, and an absolute monstronsity of man who was a playboy type and running his own mobile home business. They really stitched him up in the editing. He now runs a property development business and was last seen showing off his footballers wife type house on "I own Britains Best Home" on Channel 5 last year. And then there was little old me!

Schools. Funny all that talk earlier as this very morning we have had all the info from DS1 school as he starts in January. my baby going to school.

The forms for applying just arrived from the council in December last year. I don't actually know how that happened! It may have been the nursery but they just arrived, and we did it on line in the end. No sweat.

muddled glad things perking up for you.

Hope looby is ok.

tummum have a lovely day at the caraven show. DOn't spend too much!!!!

reebee enjoy your coporate hospitality day out too.

Just watching the news. Cot death story.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 14/10/2009 14:00

momino sorry to hear about your ache.. hope they figure out how to sort it if your exercises don't work.

dh says thanks for all the congrats about his exam and while he was a manager of a cinema in birmingham before he met me he got to squeeze amanda donahue when they did a premier of one of her films.

pulapumpkin · 14/10/2009 14:26

Afternoon ladies,

My dad has finally started his radiotherapy for his skin cancer today, which has been a long wait. He said it went ok and that he shouldn't feel any side effects for the first week or so, which is good as its my parent's ruby wedding anniversary party on Saturday.

Sorry for not name-checking anyone but there has been so much chat i haven't had chance to catch up.

sausagemonstermash · 14/10/2009 14:43

Bbbbrrrrr its freezing in my parents house! But - hurrah - wireless broadband is working!

pula - hope the radiotherapy goes ok!
Fi - wooooooh re your dp's exam result!

I loooooooooove all the sleb talk.... I have more...

  • My Nan used to make hats for the Queen Mum!
  • When I was little, I was in a wheelchair for a few years (beginning of gammy hip problems) and my Mum was allowed to take me out of hospital one day and whizz me around London. We stopped outside the Queen Mum's gaff, and she came out and said hello!
  • My Dad often chats to Princess Anne's husband on the train into London.
  • My friend looked after Johnny Depp's daughter when she was in Great Ormond Street hospital (was in the papers, not breaking patient confidentiality here) - she said it was MOST unnerving taking blood from her with said lush chap breathing down her neck!
  • Saw Robbie Williams in a bar once in London (yes, was with said trendy friend) - he was having a quiet pint and winked at me and said hello to me when I walked past. I swooned everywhere!
  • When my brother was on his honeymoon up Mount Everest, they met Keanu Reeves when he was making that Little Buddha film - apparently he was very like what he was in the Bill and Ted films!
  • Last one - I nearly met Hugh Grant - he was going to open one of our wards, but then he got caught in that 'Divine' moment - we dropped him.... hahahahaaaa.

Looby - hope you are ok - I am with everyone else, I am appalled and and at your dh's behaviour! I really do hope you get it sorted out.

My day in London yesterday was lovely, seeing so many friends and their babies! Wish I still lived down there

Booooo M has awoken! Byeeee!

EtherealFiByTheSea · 14/10/2009 15:25

I hope your dad copes with the radiotherapy and that it's a total success pula it's good that any side effects shouldn't kick in until after their anniversary too.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 14/10/2009 15:41

sausage johnny depp yummy! now it's my turn to swoon

EtherealFiByTheSea · 14/10/2009 15:43

sausagewow.. so many celebs! johnny depp now you're talking yummy!! my turn to swoon

EtherealFiByTheSea · 14/10/2009 15:46

lol!!! i stopped the post as I wanted to add to it and now there's both! sorry

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 14/10/2009 15:50

Mmmm! Definite swoon at JD here too!

Pula - fingers crossed for your dad's radiotherapy with minimal side effects.

Headless - O woke up about 10.15. I fed him and he then slept about 11-2. Fed him again and he woke about 3.15. Then wouldn't go back in his cot even when I tried feeding him so finally brought him into bed about 4.30.

We've been to baby cinema today and seen new animation "Up". O watched quite intently for a bit and at one point let out a huge giggle so that then everyone else in the cinema laughed

Jael · 14/10/2009 15:55

Just an update from the Jael family, my break away from MN did me very good indeed...

I've been reading still, I'm glad everyone's ok.
The only person I'm going to comment on is;

Looby I hope you've managed to talk to your DH about how you're feeling, definately don't feel pressured into doing anything you don't want to* (hugs you)

J is fine,I went against the generalisation of MN and weaning before 6 months and followed the advice of my HV, we started the baby rice at teatime two weeks ago, which was going down fine, he's 5 1/2 months now, and again on the advice of my HV were starting weaning properly, as of yesterday when we started on carrot. He'll then have carrot for a few days before we introduce another root vegetable and so on... were just following the the "typical" weaning malarky, and then i'll get to dig out my annabel karmel book in a few weeks and make some tasty purres for him lol She agreed that 2 7oz feeds in the night just wern't on, and his appetite wasn't being fulfilled, so there we go, he's happy, healthy, rolling over, sitting up, drinks from his sippy cup himself.

Everyone else in our little family is good DD goes to nursery and LOVES it! My daytimes are filled with activities for the DC's/days out/cleaning/etc etc and weekends are 100% children orientated. We've taken the DC's to the family film for the last few weeks, J is mesmorized by the big screen! Week before last we took them to the safari park, last weekend was the Teletubbies Live, and this weekend is Disney Princesses on Ice...then I think we have a couple of weeks off from big activities until christmastime!lol Since DP is at work allday I just love making the weekends so family orientated

Hope everyone and their little ones are good.

Hows it going it France grumpy/Spooky?

Jael XX

EtherealFiByTheSea · 14/10/2009 16:24

jaellovely to hear from you! glad to hear you're all doing so well & that dd loves nursery and weaning is going well too. our G is getting incredibly transfixed of any food we're eating to the extent she'll stop bf to watch lol!!! she can't sit up properly & turns 6months on 22nd nov. so far apart from the watching us eat she's not quite ready yet so definitely bit more time to go for us.

runningscared · 14/10/2009 16:48

Hey Jael so lovely to hear you are all doing so well. Your weekends sound fantastic.

pula best wishes to your Dad. Hope the treatment goes well.

saus impressive sleb list. Oh and re Johnny Depp.

HeadlessLadyH · 14/10/2009 18:49

pula my thoughts are with your dad. I do hope it all goes well

jael good to see you back and hear you so chipper! Sounds like you have been super busy too.

Been at soft play all afternoon with DS1 and one of his pals (same one that came round here last week). Thought rather than trash our joint, they could hare around soft play instead. Which they did. And no cleaning up to do afterwards. Bonus. Both R and DS1 now in pjs, bottle is cooling for R so things looking good for a reasonable bedtime.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 14/10/2009 19:07

wonder how looby is doing

ladyh will keep my fingers crossed you've not jinxed bedtime!

HeadlessLadyH · 14/10/2009 19:22

LOL fi! R down. One to go but DH just walked in so its over to him for story time!!

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 14/10/2009 19:50

Headless - I think a 4yo would enjoy it as it's v visual. They might not quite get all the story but that's fine as there's different layers as with most Pixar films.

O's been asleep for nearly an hour and I'm cooking pasta with salmon & brocolli in a cream sauce for me and DH. Had to put some white wine in the sauce so unfortunately the bottle needs drinking up...

HeadlessLadyH · 14/10/2009 19:53

ses like the sound of your supper....am still staying away from the evil carbs so don't mind me as I stand here with my mouth watering. Perhaps llare could cook up some of her apple crumble too......mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm some more.

HeadlessLadyH · 14/10/2009 19:57

Am also watching Nigel Slater on BBC1. My mouth is about to orgasm I think. He is making vegetable look sexy! IYKWIM.
