In honour of sausage's forthcoming nuptials, with a nod to imminent weaning.

ses I do this too, especially if I'm trying to get to sleep myself, I lie there expecting A to wake up. I have ended up getting to the point where I think there's no point in going to sleep as she's going to wake up any minute. No sensible advice other than trying to find some way to take your mind off it. I usually do some yoga breathing or backwards counting which are tricks I use to get to sleep if I'm stressed.

Monstermomi · 13/10/2009 20:45

still a page behind but have to say:
dandy - Mark Owen

Monstermomi · 13/10/2009 20:46

two pages behind.
Fi, STEVE martin??? wow.

runningscared · 13/10/2009 20:50

Right ladies, I am taking advantage of A being asleep and DH out to try to have an early night... will probably involve some weird dreams involving Chris Packam and various other celebs

Night all x x

Monstermomi · 13/10/2009 20:54

ok. really just skimmed everything so can't truly name check anymore . also this glass of wine is going to my head.

looby, I hope you're ok tonight and you DH gets a grip (do we say that here or is that american?).

very, very impressed with the sleb spotting. I don't have much to contribute except that I had a beer with Space in the mid 90s when they were touring small venues in the US. We were in the club when they were setting up and they invited my sister and me into their coach for a beer. I think they had one good album, does anyone even know them?

not very impressive but I can't think of anything else.

Toffeeapplemmum · 13/10/2009 20:58

Momi I remember Space, and aren't you part of Elbow now??!

Monstermomi · 13/10/2009 21:03

oh, that's right Toffeemum! I think we have Elbow choir practice next week ! guy garvey and I are good mates.

euroghoul · 13/10/2009 21:07

I share salem's astonishment - afraid I gave up trying to remember who to namecheck about 2 pages ago . I will just fire off random replies and hope you recognise yourselves . Spot who's had a glass of wine that went straight to her head...

LadyH Crystal Maze I used to love it. The only other celeb spots I have are specially for salemchocs, as no-one else will know who they are. We passed Herman Brusselmans hanging out chatting in the street (you have the same home town, no? My brother in law lives there too so we've spent a few nights out there and this was on one of them), and spotted Robbe de Hert (I think? Antwerp film director called something like that) getting into his car outside the building we used to live in. I'm sure there are a couple more obscure Flemish 'celebrities' I've seen/met but can't remember - it's much easier here as Belgium's that much smaller, and no-one is that famous. It's a minor ambition of mine too to get on VRT at some point, and I almost managed it when on mat leave with dd as they were looking for people's breastfeeding boobs to film for a news programme, but I couldn't get to the studio on time. Shame as I did like the idea of broadcasting my bosom to the nation (well, the Dutch speaking half anyway ).

Spangle very very funny about the forbidden city. We had great fun there too, for some reason it brought out the 6 year old in both of us. All our photos are like a Where's Wally of very nicely composed views of these fantastical buildings and huge spaces, where you can spot me or dh lurking behind urns or round corners. I do wish we had one or two sensible ones, but that's just not us I guess .

Thanks to everyone who asked about my meetings this afternoon. They went fine - neither of the posts in question were ones that I really want to do, but I will be able to keep looking without offending anyone and it was good to make contact and just get back in to the work feel of things. I realise I'm not as scared of it as I thought I was, which is good. And it seems that I will be relatively in demand (I will be moving posts after 4 years in the same one before mat leave) which is so great to know, as I left with a bad situation behind me with my slightly anti-pregnancy boss who was being an arse, so it's a real confidence boost. In the end I wore a black jersey dress that's actually maternity wear but you'd never know, and of course it's cut to flatter a stomach but doesn't seem to show it off too much. But ouch my feet hurt a LOT from wearing high heels. If I shop again it's for some flat smart books! I heard today that I have 2 interviews in the next 2 weeks, both for jobs I'd really like to do, so I'm glad I 'warmed up' today and hopefully one of them will come up trumps. I'll be gald when the whole process is over though and I can just get into it and have got over the hurdle of leaving T at creche . I'm sure I'll get used to it but I'm not looking forward to it.

I guess some of you are also going to be going back to work at some point - when and what will you be doing? Who's a SAHM actually? I have great admiration for anyone who does stay at home, I feel a bit bad admitting it but I don't think I could. I'm not planning to work full time but think I would go mad being at home full time too.

I am just listening to Regina Spektor's album that arrived in the post this morning, I ordered it off amazon the other day. It's really good. Mmm with some more wine and some chocolate (guess why I can't find clothes that fit ) and I'll be off for a more or less early night.

Oh yes and looby I hope you are not having a crap evening. Thought your reply to your dh earlier was exactly right.

Monstermomi · 13/10/2009 21:08

oh, forgot. was at the Ivy years ago and saw Glen Close. And the woman who plays Gail on Corrie. but we didn't talk to them. I try not to be too obsessed interested when i see a famous person .

euroghoul · 13/10/2009 21:10

OMG what a massive post! Sorry . And plenty x-posts too

TrickOrTReggiee · 13/10/2009 21:15

Between us, we know all famous people .

(Chris Packham is lovely btw, unlike Terry Nutkins. I met them both when I was a school girl and got their autographs )

euroghoul · 13/10/2009 21:16

Momi glad I am not the only one with a wine head on... trying to resist more as I don't really want to end up having a Tuesday booze bender due to being a lightweight!

Meant to say toffeeapple personal shopper is a brilliant idea and am v - it was actually going round my head the entire time I was out yesterday, but I don't think it exists in Belgium yet. Actually, what I was really thinking is "I need Trinny and Susannah". I would love them to do their makeover thing on me - whenever I see their programme (whose name totally escapes me for the time being) I am most jealous of the two whole days the person gets to shop. Two days off!!! I am not sure if that whole thought process is just a bit sad though - so far I haven't dared share it with any of my RL friends because they are all childless and carefree and I would never hear the end of it.

The wine and chocolate are calling... running sleep well and I hope A doesn't wake up too soon.

flippineckitsabitspooky · 13/10/2009 21:23

Evening all!

looby - sorry to hear about your problems with DH, you've had some great advice from others, so have a hug and some cake from me. I really hope you you are able to work on this with your DH.

Euroghoul - sorry to hear about your shopping trip, it's hard isn't it? After I had DD1 I was shocked and quite depressed by my body shape, before I'd had her I'd lost a lot of weight and had starting really liking my body (myself in general, tbh). Hope all the work stuff goes well for you.

headlessladyH - v. at your clean oven. {grin] at Crystal Maze! It was compulsive viewing.

fi - well done your DH! What a relief. And what a high mark!!

Febes - I've got a roller too! A has been rolling from her back to her front for a while but has now mastered back to front, although she's still surprised when it happens!

Good day here, busy but good. Lovely to meet BelgianSalemChocolates at the sling meet, C is delicious and Salem is very elegant!

Much LOLling at the sleb-spotting/claims to fame. Nothing much here, I think. My dad was an extra in Far from the Madding Crowd (70, Terence Stamp). Saw Saint Bob G on the Kings Road with his girls, this was a long time ago so they were all very young - the youngest (Frillypants Fluffikins? Can't remember her name) was on a pink trike. Lived in London for 5 years, so lots of insignificant spots. My favourite was seeing Amy Lame (comedian, was on sleb fat/fit club) walking around Toulouse in France. I said hello because I thought I knew her. My best gay friend does know her though.

This has taken me so long to type that there will be about a hundred cross-posts. I'll catch up again.

Salemchocolates · 13/10/2009 21:24

euroghoul Wow, even though I've lived in Gent for 20 years I don't think I've ever really spotted a Flemish celebrity and there you are spotting all those "BV's", amazing! You're right, Herman Brusselmans lives in Gent.

Right. I think it's time for me to go and catch up with some telly that I missed earlier this week and then bed. I had quite a disturbed night last night. 1st DH waking me around midnight with some weird dream that involved him shouting out "poo" Poo" "poo" in his sleep and then C woke up at 4.30 for the 1st time since July.

Goodnight everyone.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 13/10/2009 21:30

glad your meeting went well euro & i'm a sahm since having ds. prob going back to 'school' to do a teaching certificate but not until G is in pre school in a few years.

oh and while living in our leith edinburgh flat i watched them film Rebus outside from my lounge window.. with Alan Hannah. It was very cool even though they did block off our whole street and turned night to day with the ginormous flood lights!!

flippineckitsabitspooky · 13/10/2009 21:34

I remember Space - I've seen them twice, the kept coming to our May Balls. Them and Divine Comedy.

llaregguBOO · 13/10/2009 21:39

euro I'm not going back to work (well, technically I am for 3 months) and I am going to work with DH. I'll be working very flexibly and working around the boys.

GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 13/10/2009 21:40

Headless - thanks for the wine. I downed it quickly and poured myself another. Went and sat in the other room away from the monitor and phoned a friend.

Might go up to bed in a minute and try and get some sleep.

euro - I'm currently in negotiations (with work and DH!) to go back 3 days a week from sometime in Feb.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 13/10/2009 21:42

belgian lol!!! at poo poo poo

Monstermomi · 13/10/2009 21:51

euro, I'm going to be a SAhm AND work 15 hours ish (nights/weekend) at my old job. The pay is rubbish and won't cover nursery. I'm hoping we'll be able to figure out a way I can give up the job.

I should go to bed as well. H had rubbish naps today which equals to rubbish sleep tonight i'm sure.

TheDemonicButDandyLioness · 13/10/2009 22:00

LadyHBefore dinner I saw what you wrote about being in a docusoap in 2000. I was trying to rack my brain to see whether I saw it, and I had two memories, one of a house of law students which I think was set in Manchester and which was way before 2000, I think. Had someone called Spider in it?
And then I had a vague memory of another series, which was of young people, but not students, young professionals, and all I could picture was a young blonde woman talking about her wedding!! So I think I saw you?!!

I will carry on catching up with the posts. Belgian in particular inadvertently reminded me that I have a couple more good celeb spots to show off share.

EtherealFiByTheSea · 13/10/2009 22:01

oops was it john hannah in rebus.. gah i'm hopeless with names!

Monstermomi · 13/10/2009 22:12

Fi, John Hannah...

llaregguBOO · 13/10/2009 22:27

Whatever happened to John Hannah?

Any sign of Looby? I hope she's OK.

Monstermomi · 13/10/2009 22:29

was just reading a thread about what to ask on school visits for entry to school in 2010... am I supposed to be visiting schools now? There is one obvious school for dd1 to attend next year which has a great rep and I just assumed she'd go there. I don't even know how/when to sign her up.

I also thought about checking out the catholic school. don't know where tostart.

just thinking out loud.
finishing my wine and watching Early Doors.
going to bed soon.
