I share salem's astonishment - afraid I gave up trying to remember who to namecheck about 2 pages ago . I will just fire off random replies and hope you recognise yourselves . Spot who's had a glass of wine that went straight to her head...
LadyH Crystal Maze I used to love it. The only other celeb spots I have are specially for salemchocs, as no-one else will know who they are. We passed Herman Brusselmans hanging out chatting in the street (you have the same home town, no? My brother in law lives there too so we've spent a few nights out there and this was on one of them), and spotted Robbe de Hert (I think? Antwerp film director called something like that) getting into his car outside the building we used to live in. I'm sure there are a couple more obscure Flemish 'celebrities' I've seen/met but can't remember - it's much easier here as Belgium's that much smaller, and no-one is that famous. It's a minor ambition of mine too to get on VRT at some point, and I almost managed it when on mat leave with dd as they were looking for people's breastfeeding boobs to film for a news programme, but I couldn't get to the studio on time. Shame as I did like the idea of broadcasting my bosom to the nation (well, the Dutch speaking half anyway ).
Spangle very very funny about the forbidden city. We had great fun there too, for some reason it brought out the 6 year old in both of us. All our photos are like a Where's Wally of very nicely composed views of these fantastical buildings and huge spaces, where you can spot me or dh lurking behind urns or round corners. I do wish we had one or two sensible ones, but that's just not us I guess .
Thanks to everyone who asked about my meetings this afternoon. They went fine - neither of the posts in question were ones that I really want to do, but I will be able to keep looking without offending anyone and it was good to make contact and just get back in to the work feel of things. I realise I'm not as scared of it as I thought I was, which is good. And it seems that I will be relatively in demand (I will be moving posts after 4 years in the same one before mat leave) which is so great to know, as I left with a bad situation behind me with my slightly anti-pregnancy boss who was being an arse, so it's a real confidence boost. In the end I wore a black jersey dress that's actually maternity wear but you'd never know, and of course it's cut to flatter a stomach but doesn't seem to show it off too much. But ouch my feet hurt a LOT from wearing high heels. If I shop again it's for some flat smart books! I heard today that I have 2 interviews in the next 2 weeks, both for jobs I'd really like to do, so I'm glad I 'warmed up' today and hopefully one of them will come up trumps. I'll be gald when the whole process is over though and I can just get into it and have got over the hurdle of leaving T at creche . I'm sure I'll get used to it but I'm not looking forward to it.
I guess some of you are also going to be going back to work at some point - when and what will you be doing? Who's a SAHM actually? I have great admiration for anyone who does stay at home, I feel a bit bad admitting it but I don't think I could. I'm not planning to work full time but think I would go mad being at home full time too.
I am just listening to Regina Spektor's album that arrived in the post this morning, I ordered it off amazon the other day. It's really good. Mmm with some more wine and some chocolate (guess why I can't find clothes that fit ) and I'll be off for a more or less early night.
Oh yes and looby I hope you are not having a crap evening. Thought your reply to your dh earlier was exactly right.
