In honour of sausage's forthcoming nuptials, with a nod to imminent weaning.

Big spread in Cosmo that should be. Not pread.

runningscared · 13/10/2009 20:03

evening all,

well A is zonked, DH is out doing aikido and I am relaxing with MN and a large glass of.... milk

ladyH crystal maze I really wanted to go on it when I was younger

Am seriously impressed with the celeb spotting/meeting. Especially dandy and her dinners with Mark O and febes DH operating a lift with Dermot on it, I am a little bit in love with him. I used to live round the corner from Shakin Stevens but that doesn't quite have the same ring to it does it?

euro hope your work meeting went ok. Ikwym re clothes. Nothing fits hence the credit card bashing yesterday.

fi well done to your DH hope you have a lovely celebratory evening

loobs you have some great advice here already. Hope you are ok.

We had a lovely day today - swimming and a nice walk in the sunshine. A went right under water today and loved it! In fact she has been fab all day, really smiley and happy despite the fact I think there are teeth about to come through. She is almost sitting up on her own now too!

FrightNightFebes · 13/10/2009 20:10

Spangle you sound like you have lead a very glam life.

LadyH I would love to go on a gameshow

DH is a rigger which means he puts up lighting, sound equipment, builds stages, erects marquets, sets up art exhibitions..... stuff like that. We get tickets for stuff alot. It's an interesting job with different things and places everyday. He has been to Elton John's place a few times. He was papped with Mick Jagger once but I don't think you could see him in the photos in the mags.

TrickOrTReggiee · 13/10/2009 20:11

Running Shakey

runningscared · 13/10/2009 20:13

Ooh lots of cross posting.

spangle lol at your Lloyd Grossman story, me and DH would have done exactly the same

ladyh I am now having visions of you living in some kind of Nottingham version of 'This Life'

My only other claims to fame is that I used to write for our student Music Mag in Southampton. We thought we were on a par with NME or something but it did mean I got into lots of local gigs for free. I did get to interview a few bands tho - Pavement and the Wannadies were the best two.

runningscared · 13/10/2009 20:15

sorry about the weird caps in there!

ScarySpangleMaker · 13/10/2009 20:17

Oh yes euroghoul I meant to say, I hope it went well this afternoon.

llaregguBOO · 13/10/2009 20:17

ladyH was it about life at university? If so I think I remember it. How odd it if is as I watched it. I would have done anything to go on the Crystal Maze!

Dandy at your dinners with Mark Owen. Oh and a kiss. [swoon]

fi congrats to your DH, that is great news.

Spangle I am seriously envious that you were in close proximity to Colin Firth.

I guess my only other sleb-spot is seeing Catherine ZZeta Jones and Michael Douglas strolling around the area by my old flat with their eldest child. I was a bit hungover and said hello to them because I knew I recognised them but didn't recognise them for who they are, if you see what I mean. I just thought they were neighbours that I vaguely recognised. Though my father does know her parents very well.

Toffeeapplemmum · 13/10/2009 20:18

Hello everyone.

Am in awe of so many celeb moments, especially LadyH Dandy and Fi. My closest encounters was sitting next to Martina Navratilova on a plane in Australia (she was reading a book on Tennis) and bumping into Chris Evans at the oversize luggage collection point when we flew back from our honeymoon in Portugal.

Looby hope this evening is going OK for you.

Fi well done to DH for spiffing exam result

Euro I feel your pain on clothes shopping. I skive off shopping because I hate that "I don't know what to wear and I am much fatter than I thought I was" thinking. My plan for going back to work (in Jan) is to use the personal shopping service in John Lewis, because they did a great job on the wedding outfit a few months back. And I've dropped a dress size since then

Had an near miss with DD2 this afternoon. Was ironing whilst DDs were playing in the same room. DD1 starts talking about school, whilst I notice DD2 edging towards the ironing board. The next thing I see is DD2 has her hand wide open and about 2mm away from the iron hot-plate. I screamed so loud, DD2 jumped back (thank God) and a nasty burn was avoided. So won't be ironing with them in the room again.

llaregguBOO · 13/10/2009 20:18

This is one for running. I did see Chris Packham in Jesters and drunkenly try and chat him up. It was a bet though, not for real. It was also 50p a pint night. Remember those?

runningscared · 13/10/2009 20:24

llare What the hell was he doing in Jesters?!! I think I just about remember those nights - and those cocktails they did there £3 in a pint glass, green, tasted like opal fruits [boak]

Tum just saw your fb post. So glad DD2 is ok, must have been scary.

HeadlessLadyH · 13/10/2009 20:25

A Nottingham version of This Life was, I think, what they were after. Sadly they were disappointed. The highlights were both DH related. Him falling drunkely asleep on my shoulder in a cab, and him ironing in his boxers. The idea behind it was they followed us because we had a "story". Mine was lawyer gets married so they also filmed and showed me buying my wedding dress, my hen night, and yes the big day itself.

llare gasp at your iron near miss. I am contstantly worried every time DH gets the iron out (he hasn't been put off by the national tv coverage of this). And isn't Chris Packham gay?

HeadlessLadyH · 13/10/2009 20:26

Sorry that should have been tum gasp at your iron near miss.

Toffeeapplemmum · 13/10/2009 20:28

Who is Chris Packham [stupid emoticon]. Off to Google...

Monstermomi · 13/10/2009 20:29

just popped on to say Hi! DH is home the rest of this week and, if you've seen my FB status, we had DDs (all 3) in bed BY 7pm!! that's a 1st. I went out for a run with my friend and am now sitting here with a glass of wine (to undo all the good from my run ).

we were at softplay (creepy crawlies) today and had a grand time, i love seeing the DDs so happy and having fun.

I need to catch up on the posts as I think I've just seen something about tum. be back soon after review. hope all ok.

HeadlessLadyH · 13/10/2009 20:29

And febes your DH's job sounds great. Really cool. at all those free tickets for stuff. Let me know if does the Foo Fighters ever! I may be a TT fan but my heart belongs to Dave Grohl. I think I would actually faint if I ever met him.

Toffeeapplemmum · 13/10/2009 20:30

Didn't he do a wildlife children's programme ages ago

HeadlessLadyH · 13/10/2009 20:31

Thats the one. he used to have really really white blond spiky hair and speaks with a lisp. Am sure he is gay.

llaregguBOO · 13/10/2009 20:32

Running rumour at the time was that he owned a part-share in it. He is a Southampton graduate, I think. I've no idea if he is gay or not, I did not succeed in chatting him up and lost the bet.

Tum that must have been scary. Has it put you off ironing?

ScarySpangleMaker · 13/10/2009 20:33

Llare Oooh Chris Packham I would try to have tried to chat him up too.

OP posts:
GHOSTLYPRessenceofSES · 13/10/2009 20:36

Can someone knock some sense into me? I'm sitting here getting more & more stressed about the fact that O could wake at any moment.

sleb spotting - I was once walking in North London with a friend who said "Did you see who just walked by? It was Bob Geldof!" I said (without thinking!) "No, he was too scruffy!" I think that proved my friend right!
I also once sat 3 rows behind Shane Lynch from Boyzone at church on Christmas Day!

of Alan Rickman, Colin Firth and Mark Owen!!

Salemchocolates · 13/10/2009 20:37

Goodness, you guys can chat. I only went away for an hour to put the dcs in bed and to go on a major fly killing spree armed with some strong stuff that kills them in hours and I've got a whole page to catch up with.

I don't know where the flies are coming from. They're mainly upstairs and there are hundreds of them.

euromum Post baby clothes shopping is always frustrating. I hope you feel a bit better today.

toffee I'm with you. Who's Chris Packham?

HeadlessLadyH · 13/10/2009 20:38

ses O could wake up at any moment. Then again he may not.

ScarySpangleMaker · 13/10/2009 20:39

Nooo not gay! not gay! please!

(not that it matters)

Febes your DH's job sounds fab. Really exciting. I'm afraid I haven't really lived a glamorous life (am quite tempted to invent one now though!) but have been lucky enough (?) to be involved in a really dull committee through work that has met in a few exciting places, though mostly in Europe.

OP posts:
runningscared · 13/10/2009 20:39

Yes now I remember, he is a Soton grad, the biology department were always going on about it

lol at spangle swooning
