Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
lauraloo09 · 14/02/2010 20:55

hiya whenskies yeah if I'm pregnant it'll be november I'll be due
How's he house hunting going?

MrsMcJnr · 15/02/2010 08:59

Hey LADIES it?s that crazy time of day again ? DS won?t eat a thing and DD has already upended her porridge all over me with her flailing arms ? breeeeaaathhee! How are you all? It was DH?s birthday on Sat so we went out for a lovely meal. Aaliyah got up 4 times in the time we were out (3 hours) so it was just as well the babysitter is very experienced with babies (she has 10 grandchildren). Valentine?s Day was a non event here ? not even a card from my charming DH

Will try and catch up a bit now

MrsMcJnr · 15/02/2010 11:19

It?s taken me hours to read on and off?.

June ? good plan on the decaf, doesn?t seem to be making any difference to Aaliyah though but I am feeling the difference ? not for the better either, yawn! That play mat did look fun. I have to say though that Aaliyah has very little interest in hers these days and is far more interested in reaching for cups, rings or books. Do you go to any groups? That?s really where I got Aaliyah interested in being on her tummy as she wanted to be with the other kids on the floor. She has a friend the same age who hates being on the floor and I reckon she?ll just got straight to walking as she pulls herself up on things, maybe C will be like that? Hope you enjoyed Southhampton and the champagne and truffles St Valentine?s is quite a big deal here in Spain so DH better get with the programme next year. So glad to hear that C is settling into a routine that works for you. Aaliyah?s latest trick is sitting up from lying down ? not so good at 4am in her cot!

Doris ? it must be hard losing your weekend hon. Wow Annabelle?s walking I know what you mean about older ones being the motivator, I can see in Aaliyah?s eyes that she is so desperate to do what Xavier can do. Hope she and your DD1 are better now .

Bigcar ? I feel lost without my computer, poor you!

Hello Venetianred

Blueberrysorbet ? I should follow your lead and not look at the clock in the night! I am hoping that food and increased activity will make a difference but they are not so far glad to hear that you and DD were safe and sound after the CS but what a worry about the kids dr, how horrible for you

Laura ? As I said on FB I am so relieved for you about the lump wow! I knew you were pg you were giving off that vibe ? a line?s a line lady congratulations! don?t worry about S my DS adores his sister so much and he may not get as much of my attention as he used too but he doesn?t seem to suffer for it. How old will S be when the baby arrives? About 16 months? Same gap as me it is Bunny who is TTC

Effie ? so sorry to hear about your grandpa?s funeral on Flynn?s birthday. I can totally understand how you feel. Maybe you can postpone his birthday celebrations a day or two this year and going forward, will you not remember your grandpa more on the day he died rather than the funeral? My father chooses to remember his parents on their wedding anniversary rather than remembering the sad days when he lost them. Hugs for you, a sad time x Glad you got the school place for Flynn Fancy having that moment of thinking you could be pregnant again

Gauchita ? hope the job and the driving lesson go well (I hate driving!) sorry to hear about Mila being so sick, we had that a couple of weeks ago and I couldn?t believe how much there was! I think she drank bath water as it was after that!

Whenskiesaregrey ? did you have a great night out?? Aaliyah won?t eat any meat but she has started eating fish so that?s a start. In fact this weekend she has started eating more food altogether but there has been no positive impact on her sleep pattern great news on DS?s weight and totally ridiculous about the HV maybe she has only encountered babies who eat jar food only in the past?

I am so to ask this but can you remind me who is who on FB as I am getting confused

Just had to jump up and throw some ?groovy moves? with DS to ?Show me, show me? people across the way must think I am nuts but it keeps my children amused!

bigcar · 15/02/2010 11:53

morning all

if you'll excuse the pun, it was a terminal case, the laptop didn't make it So we have a spangly new desktop, best behaviour now ladies as you're all on 19" widescreen Can anyone tell I've missed having a computer [should get a life emoticon ] So lovely to be back

june, skies, you don't have anything to worry about, babies do things when they want to, when it interests them, you just keep offering/encouraging and eventually they will decide they want to do it Skies, your hv is talking crap, literally!

doris and bluberry, lovely to see you both again We like NCIS here too!

laura, so pleased to hear the lump was nothing to worry about too much. Sounds like a bfp, congratulations!!!! I have a 15 month gap between dd2 and ds1, got a few odd looks but it's none of anyones business, don't let anyone spoil it for you. I also got odd looks with the 8 year gap between dd1 and dd2, seems you can't win either way

gauchita, good luck with the driving lesson tomorrow

MrsMcJnr, I'm not on fb if that's any help Dd3 just had her tweenies top of the pops special dvd on so we've all just been singing about bananas and jumping about too, well more the dcs than me, can't jump about for that long anymore [definitely getting older emoticon]

thanks for all your kind thoughts for tuesday The meeting with the midwife went fairly well, we just had a general chat about what happened from my point of view and how I felt and I cried a fair bit and that was about all I could handle. So I'm going back next week as it's half term this week and I have the dcs home and we'll go through things properly with a bit of luck. She was lovely but also quite matter of fact which was just the right combination for me, things are starting to look up, fingers crossed.

E is now well and truely up on his feet, think it's having the other dcs to chase that's done it, he wants to be in the thick of it and involved in everything now. Time is flying by way too quickly, they'll all be one before we know it!

huge waves to all

venetianred · 15/02/2010 11:58

Hi all

Sorry all - been super busy and had a difficult fortnight with teething - four teeth through in two weeks and up every night!

laura - Just want to say - it does sound as if you are pregnant but I won't congratulate you until you are certain BUT it is really important that you DON'T WORRY. WORRYING WILL GET YOU NOWHERE. Think positively. Think 'how can I make this work'. How can I rearrange my day so I get a good sleep every day, because a good sleep will mean I have more energy for Sarah.

Make the most of it. There is never a perfect age. My daughter of almost 4 has closet fever because I find it hard to get out with a small baby, but we just do things a bit differently than we did before, and come summer we will be out and about more.

Above all kids need lots of love and a happy mumma. Everything else is important, but less important. SO DON'T WORRY YOURSELF - you only have one life so you may as well make the most of each day, and just laugh when it is crazy and you feel ill - at my worst I used to lie on the sofa under the duvet and put In the Night Garden on 'repeat'. My DD thought it was fab.

And just make sure you get lots of counselling if you need it - to get you through....as your hormones can make it all a bit challenging at times.

lol

bigcar · 15/02/2010 13:28

managed to put a couple more pics on my profile! I'm so pleased with myself [as not in the slightest bit a techy] as my new camera stores a much higher resolution pic I couldn't manage to do it!

Effielou · 15/02/2010 14:31

Hi All xxx

Lauraloo any news???????

Hope you all had a great valentines day??

As far as food is concerned- Rupert likes pureed food still he gags with lumps, cokes on Rusks and has no teeth yet!!! I have to remember that he was 4 weeks early- so perhaps he'll manage soon--lol

I'm a bit stressed today- had a falling out with my brother- so my stress levels are way high- infact I can't stop shaking!! But hopefully it will be sorted before the funeral next week!!

I'll catch up properly when I'm less stressed xxxx

lots of love x

Effielou · 15/02/2010 17:23

Hi All.

I was thinking..........

I am trying to loose weight and don't want to join ww or slimmimg world- or join the weight loss thread on here!!! But was wondering if any of you want to do a mini Juners weightloss encouraging type thing -right here!!!!!???? What do you think!!!???

don't worry if you think its daft xx lol xx

lauraloo09 · 16/02/2010 09:38

morning juners hope you all are well tried to get on last night but system was down.

Thank you everyone who's given me advice regarding my situation. I did another first response this morning and there's a def line there so looks like a BFP! DH and I are happy but the niggling worries are still there. venetian I'll try not to worry and when I feel down I will get help this time around
Need to go arrange appointment with doc now for him to confirm the pregnancy will be back on later

June2009 · 16/02/2010 17:53

laura Congrats!!! quite actually...if it wasn't for my lack of weight loss we'd probably be trying again already.

bigcar I met someone who told me to look up "sheila kitznger" online for counselling (free I think). they deal with traumatic birth iirc, not called yet, completely hectic at work and home. only just got my birth certificate through. We can get a midwife app here too apparently, it's a tenner. Hope you get a good second appointment.

gauchita how's M and how did the translating and driving go?

Effie have you tried this site it helped me lots when I had some weight to lose before my wedding in 06. I should get back on it :S I can be your weight loss buddy on this list if you like, I am planning on going back to the gym when babe goes to nursery. I like running personally. (I used to run 20 minutes everyday before I got pregnant, now I think I will be shocked at how little I can do in one go when I get back on the treadmill.)

Sorry to hear you fell out with your brother, it does go round and round in your head when that happens doesn't it.
dh had a fall out with his cousin a while back and I wish we could have some kind of closure one way or another, it's very awkward with the rest of the family now.
Can you call him to clear the air (agree to disagree or whatever) or is it too early for that?

The nursery open day is this Saturday and we're going to sign C up. .
I'm thinking 2 or 3 mornings a week (8am-1pm) just so that I can get some time to myself (haircut & wax badly needed for a start, nails also in bad shape) and more importantly gym and work.
Even just three hours in a row twice a week would make so much difference.

I'm very tired, baby is teething and all out of synch no routine
I went to bed at 8pm monday evening and 7pm yesterday. (so did baby so we were both up at 5am today!). Tired again now.

I am hacked off with visitors again, I'm going to tell them not to bother during the day anymore. People feel they can drop in whenever it's convenient for them because we work from home, it does my head in and has got to stop.

We had a brilliant weekend with friends and lovely Valentine's evening. (mrsmc I didn't get a card either but dh prepared dinner which makes up for it.)

C 's awake already (just got enough time to post this!!!)
take care!!

Skillbo · 16/02/2010 20:30

Sorry, this will seem out of date as I wrote down what I wanted to write on Saturday night and then my computer crashed (must be Juners technology plague!) so I will get it down again and then read all the most up to date posts.

Venetian - I hope you didn?t think I was bashing NZ?I would up sticks and move my family there in a heartbeat just because it?s the friendliest and most beautiful place I have ever been. I like the sound of the education system to be honest, was just relating what someone told me.

Laura - hope it all went well with your cyst.. was it today you were getting it sorted out? Also hope no-one has gone down with chicken pox as can be horrid for little ones who don?t know whats going on! Was going to suggest a visit to your local family planning clinic about your pill but seem to remember you?ve visited your GP now.

Snow - I am also heavier now than when I was pregnant and it is quite depressing particularly with my wedding coming up. At the same time though I don?t seem to be able to deny myself treats. Was sad to hear about DS1 - I think things like that will always be with you but hopefully the pain is easing a little now x I studied in Wales for a few years but haven?t been back in far too long - great country but a little insular at times? again, please don?t think I?m bashing it as I loved my time there and hope you had a great weekend too!

Effie - was sorry to hear about your grandad - it definitely seems to be something about this time of year. Great news though that F has managed to get his school choice (it was F wasn?t it?) as means you only have one school run to be getting on with.

June - I hope you have managed to get hold of your notes and they have helped you come to terms with what happened. I was lucky in that the hospital I was at is dedicated to women so felt very informed? actually, it?s the hospital that?s on the ?One Born Every Minute? programme on C4 so am keeping my eyes peeled for my midwife! I ended up on the labour ward but the filming took place about 6 weeks after Jazzy made her appearance so thankfully managed to avoid that personal hell - I bet you?re all up for it when they ask but by the time labour has fully kicked in, you?re cursing agreeing to be filmed!! Jazzy has always been a big fan of tummy time but I know we have been lucky - other kids I know haven?t done it at all and they?re all running around like loons now!

Bigcar- Hope you also got on well with your notes and they have answered some questions for you ? sounds like you could have a big bundle though!!! I had glue ear as a child and ended up with grommets.. They weren?t great and swimming was a bit of an issue (had to wear quite high tech ear plugs) but that was better than the earache!!!

MrsM - hope the sleeping is working a bit better for you! I also hope the eating has improved too? I think we?ve been very lucky as Jazzy is a human dustbin but she seems to be struggling with her bf?ing at the moment which is a bit of a worry (especially as she only has three feeds a day and seems to have gone off the mid afternoon and evening one!!). I also am struggling with my sex drive - once I get into it, it?s not too bad but I must admit to never initiating it really - sorry if TMI! Oh, and if I remember your questions 1/ Jazzy normally manages to sleep through although can grizzle a couple of times but 2/ still boob feeding.

Strawb - Also, sending condolences your way as well? what a run of bad luck for you!

Guachita - I also have a really bad lower back and have been advised it?s all to do with the hormones?! I was advised that it would ease after about 6 months but still having aches. Might mention it at Jazzy?s 8 month check and steal some of her time! Yay for driving license - you?ll be motoring round in no time! I was advised that for those who speak a different language at home is to talk to your lo in your natural language as they will pick up the local language once they start going to groups and mixing with other kids? they?re like sponges!

Blue - Hello! Nice to meet you? I know we haven?t really met but let me tell you all about my periods I have had about three periods since giving birth and they seem to be getting a bit regular now but am still breastfeeding so think they will stay a bit irregular. They also seem to be a bit heavier (sorry!) but I was on the pill before I conceived and we managed that quite quickly so not sure if I can remember a normal period, iykwim.

Whenskies - I wish I was Manchester way as I would love to meet you in the flesh but am rather far away sadly! I have written down ?Poo? against your name but not sure what I was going to say? uhm, we?ve had some rather lovely ones recently? oh wait, this is about your HV being weird about C?s poop! Well, we always have multicoloured poo and you can normally tell what?s she?s munched. It has been digested but dependent on what it is (ie apricots or raisins!) there is an obvious residue? sorry, full of TMI tonight!

Doris - 8 MONTHS, UNBELIEVABLE! I was looking at Jazzy yesterday and couldn?t believe how interested she was in the things around her and she has a really lovely ?curious? face.. Definitely no longer a blob but that?s all for the good.

OK - dindins is ready so will post this and then see what?s happened since the weekend. Oh, Laura, did you take your test?

Skillbo · 16/02/2010 20:41

Effie - I'll be your weight loss buddy! Hope you sort things out with your bro... it can be tough but you'll get there I hope

MrsM - no card here either but I forgot too... we just had an intimate cuddle, if you know what I mean so that made his week (well, month probably if I'm honest!)

Right - got to go and get myself set for CSI... ooh, its a good one tonight with Vegas and then the trilogy thang! Way past my bedtime but going for it. I had a bit, well a huge, meltdown last night all set off with the fact the cheese for my macaroni cheese separated in the sauce (beacuse I added brocolli on the attempt to make it a bit healthier)... cried for about half an hour after having a bitch at DF. We came to the conclusion am trying to do too much and can't do it all... with work and cooking and trying to spend as much time as possible with Jazzy, I am non stop from 6am til 9pm with about an hour off and then bed.. I know some of you are relly struggling at the mo but I am running on empty!

RIGHT - take care all Juners and catch up soon!

bunnymother · 16/02/2010 22:01

Hello!!

Bit of a patchy post from me...

Laura - got a shiver of delight when I read your news -congratulations!! Mum's the word - not a peep out of me on FB. We are TTC but not sure where I am at - period last month and this month's due any day. DH is having a good time, though! . It's actually improved my sex drive - like the more you do it the more you want it iykwim. Prob vice versa.

Gaucho - driver's licence? Woo hoo - well done!!

MrsMcjnr - how do you cope with such rubbih sleep? A runs a brutal regime! Do be kind to yourself. Esp as I know you are a perfectionist. Just getting through the day w 2 little ones when you don't sleep is a big achievement.

Bigcar - nice to "see" you (photos)! Love love love that bear suit!! And 2nd photo of E standing looks just like Delie. And w think they are so unique...

June - am in a different weight class than I was pre-pregnancy but finding it hard to shift. So just TTC anyway as prob won't be slim again until Delie and I can go running together! . In meantime have hired a cross trainer that I jump on most mornings.

Effie - sorry about your spat w your brother. Good night sleep then give him a call? I may be wrong, but seems that lots of guys aren't that bovvered about things that I get v upset about. DH barely breaks a sweat about anything, so quite easy to make up w.

Re Valentine's Day, am a non believer so didn't do anything. Coincidentally had the most divine fillet steak on Sunday from Waitrose that was on sale. Heaven. But only £5 for both DH and I. Bargainous me thinks.

Delie is well but willful little precious - won't be fed, must feed herself now. So I trot out mezze plates for precious every meal and she hurls bits about and munched the rest. All quite gorgeous actually. Esp as I am getting better/faster at the prep. She and DH were eating finger food together last night. She is also cruising about her cage playpen and crawling about the place. Maybe chasing her will help shift some weight? As I munch on choc as I write... .

Before I go... On FB my initials are BCT and my profile shot is me and DH. For whoever was wondering who was who... Good night lovely ladies!!

MrsMcJnr · 16/02/2010 22:47

Just a very quick post to say congrats to Laura again and to say yes Effie, I'll be your weight loss buddy too - have given up choc, biscuits and cake for lent in an attempt to eat better must find time to do some tummy exercises....! more soon ladies

venetianred · 17/02/2010 07:41

bunnymother - can you run through Delie's favourite finger food. I aim to make supper mainly finger food but F has been rejecting some of his previous favourite's and I am low on inspiration.

Lunchtime improved a lot once the food became a lot more tasty. He is not keen on baby food - prefers things like rich beef casserole, lamb tagine, rice risotto, chicken & lentils etc.

My big tip for the week is this. F barely eats any 'green' things, for instance the other day grimaced when I tried to feed him courgette, so I put it back in the baby processor, added a little some warm chicken stock, turning it into a soup, and put it in his water beaker. He drank the lot in a couple of minutes, smiling happily. So my new trick is to put soup in the water drinkie cup and let him drink it himself. Thought I might try cucumber soup too.

Congratulations 'laura'.

effie - I am having problems shifting the weight too. I wasn't upset at all by what you said.

mrsmcjnr - hi honey, will reply soon to your fab post

gauchita - when are you off to ecuador? i am off to nz on 5 march for two months so we are both sneaking away to the southern hemisphere!

bunnymother · 17/02/2010 09:26

Venetian - you have no doubt offered all of these but current favourites and ones I have heard from other mums are cheese sticks, roast chicken (buy from grocery shop) shredded, celery sticks, baby sized rice cakes (these v good for feeding hummus or pureed food w as no visible handle like a spoon so will be accepted, unlike a spoon), hummus, frittatas / omelette ( good to grate courgette into), cooked carrot sticks, crumbed plaice fillets torn into pieces, banana, strawberry, nectarine and mango pieces, French toast dipped in egg and grated vegies, oats mixed w milk and fruit purée baked until dry enough to be chopped into pieces. Really, Delie loves rice cakes (esp those flavoured w apple juice) hummus, cheese and carrot sticks best. Boring! But am persisting by presenting other foods.

whenskiesaregrey · 17/02/2010 11:16

bunny- this might sound like a stupid question but how does Delie actually pick that food up? Anything remotely slippery and Caelan ends up chasing it round the high chair tray! He is good at eating toast and cheese sticks, but I gave him a prune to chew on and he just sucked it right to the back of his mouth! How does hummus work?!

venetian- also, the thought of Caelan taking a cup to his mouth and drinking from it is totally alien to me! He sips from a cup, but I think thats more by accident as he is just chewing the rim of the cup. A beaker with a teat is a total no-go as he just chews it too.

Congratulations Lauraloo!

June2009 · 17/02/2010 12:20

we do cheesy toast cut into strips and i put vegetable puree on it.

we buy mini bananas from tescos and just let her get on with it skies we just leave the peel on so she can grip it.

Do you buy cheese strings or do you cut it in strips? and how big and what kind of cheese? I tried giving C some cheese but got worried about her choking on it.

We also do steamed carrots cut into strips, steamed broccoli florets, roast chicken shredded and salmon (10 mintes in the oven) in flakes, whole green beans, rice cakes (brown organic and unsalted from waitrose ;)
some friends have bought carrot and corn sticks from "organix", it's bakes with sunflower oil and carrot powder. its quite good to give the baby one while you prepare the other stuff, C is not keen on them though.

Can't think of anything else at the moment and talking about food it'll be lunch time soon. (made AK's beef stew out yesterday :D)

Effielou · 17/02/2010 12:58

Hi All

Right I'm gonna tell you my weight and height-- This morning I weighed 11st5lbs ( I weigh myself every day- to make sure I stay well behaved) I'm 5'4" so I think it makes my BMI 28!! I would like to loose at least 1st.

here goes to weight loss!!

june I looked at that site and bookmarked to have a proper look on there- but will def join xx thank-you xx

laura Congrats xxx more babies xxx

I still haven't spoken to my bro- as yet- but will send him a msg before the funeral!! It was basically- my mums 60 in may- we were meant to take her away- thin SIL fell preggers and is due at the same time ( my dad is 60 a week later and lives in guernsey) I'd been on at my brother for ages about planning something- he never seemed interested- but then sent out a general e-mail with a date for mums b'day party ( I'm at my dads)! I just said that it would have been nice to have been consulted on dates before the rest of the family were asked ( we always plan these occasions together) I wasn't rude or nasty- but the abuse I got back was horrid!! I won't go on- but thats the jist of it!! Hohum!! It will be ok when hes calmed down!!! Thank god for anti-depressents and stress management courses!!

Ruperts fully crawling forwards and looks like a little puppy finding his feet-- so so cute xx I can't believe hes fast reaching his 9th month xx

Hope you are all ok xxx

Lots of love xx

lauraloo09 · 17/02/2010 13:51

bunny thanks for the finger food list will attempt some of that with Sarah, she's been having the baby rice cakes for over a month now but will try cheese banana etc.

just a quick post and hoping for reassurance...yesterday when i got the faint line and also this morning another faint line (thought it would have been darker today ) but (TMI ALERT) when I go to loo and wipe I have some mucus discharge, sometimes it is a pink tinge to it i cant remember having this with Sarah so now worried that something is wrong please can you guys advise if you have ever experienced this going out of my mind here with worry

bigcar · 17/02/2010 14:29

laura, haven't had it personally but it could well be implantation bleeding have a look here

lauraloo09 · 17/02/2010 14:48

Thanks bigcar fingers crossed its nothing to worry about suppose even if it is something sad there's nothing i can do at moment to stop anything happening...got to keep positive tho

bigcar · 17/02/2010 16:52

laura, will keep everything crossed for you x

whenskiesaregrey · 17/02/2010 17:18

fingers crossed laura, have you been to the Dr's to confirm yet?

whenskiesaregrey · 17/02/2010 18:05

Sorry- June- I cut the cheese off the block, just some mild chedder, and watch him very closely! Caelan has had those Organix carrot sticks too, he quite likes them!
