Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello to all

Ahhhhhhh what am going to do with my DD? 8 months old today and a menace yesterday she slept for an hour at lunchtime and that was it for the day, she was a grump all afternoon and screamed blue murder if I put her down so I didn?t get a thing done. That was after 2 brisk walks by the sea and lots of playtime on the floor. She was exhausted but just wouldn?t give in and have a sleep. Then she fell asleep on the change mat after her bath at 7.45. Then woke up again (as I knew she would) for milk at 9 and then after that every 40 mins for the whole night. I would just get her down again in her cot and drift to sleep and then she?d start up again. I?m exhausted, it?s like torture and now she won?t let a thing past her mouth ? sigh!

Anyone watch Super Nanny last night? I was in tears at the beautiful 12 year old who thought she was ugly and also really felt for Sophia because although it was verging on abuse how she had been feeding Kieran, it is such a strong maternal instinct to feed your kids and t must have been awful for her watching her become more and more malnourished

Whenskies ? wow, you have so much going on at the moment! Make sure you keep eating well so that your milk stays good and doesn?t decrease (that?s what happened to me when we emigrated ? I was doing too much and not getting enough rest or food)

Snow ? big thumbs up to sleeping through hope that?s it now and that he sleeps through every night at 4am I was thinking up elaborate plans to get a night away so I could sleep but know in the cold light of day that that isn?t going to happen any time soon lamingtons sound tasty I am quite worried about my love affair with sugar, I am always eating chocolate, biscuits and cake at the mo I can?t get enough. I think I?ll give them up for lent as they say it takes 21 days to make or break a habit and hopefully after 40 days I won?t crave them anymore I?ll email you that poem. Have a lovely time in Wales

Lauraloo ? wow, S is sounding desperate to get walking isn?t she?

Blueberry ? how did the birth go in the end? I know you were worried as your dr seemed a little overbearing. My DH and I both love sleep and luckily DS does too so I don?t know where we got DD from!

Nurseries are a bit of a nightmare here, you can?t go for a couple of days either in the state or the private nurseries, they say it is too disruptive to the other kids. Thing is there are things that we do that are fun in the mornings and I enjoy this precious time with my DCs that said it would be great if DS could go a couple of times a week to let me get a few things done but I don?t want him going full time (9am-2pm) every day yet.

lauraloo09 · 10/02/2010 10:33

oh mrsmc sounds like you're having a terrible time with A at the moment I dont really know any advise to give you sorry not much help ...dont know what I'd be like in your situation!

Sarah slept thro again just woke 4 times for her dummy but she's desp to get walking keeps getting onto her feet, falling and banging her head I'm also goin to try not to test again until the weekend still got the heavy boobs which are getting worse, lower back pain and period cramps but no AF yet!

Morning to the rest of the juners

MrsMcJnr · 10/02/2010 14:49

Maybe there is a link between how much coffee I am drinking to get through the day and Aaliyah's not sleeping what do you all think?

Gauchita · 10/02/2010 16:39

Quick post

hi ladies!

Mrsmc, i know M's night routine is not polished yet as she wakes loads still, but starting a routine (i borrowed mine from the ideas venetian suggested here) has REALLY helped and changed M's day (and mine) for the better . Maybe you cpuld try it a bit? I found once just a few days pass, they really get used to it ans somehow expect things like napa to happen sorry if you've already tried this, in which cass just ignore me

have to run now bur a biiiiig wave to all Juners and a few ranting words: having no internet SUCKS!!!! Especially as i also have to work!!!

Back later, hopefully

Gauchita · 10/02/2010 16:40

Jeez, apologies for awful typos!!!

MrsMcJnr · 10/02/2010 17:18

She's had a routine since day 1 but it doesn't seem to work in her case thanks for trying to help though! she even has 10 mins of baby massage to soothing music after her bath and a wind down period before the bath with DH and DS who she baths with!

June2009 · 10/02/2010 18:27

are you drinking caffeinated coffee? if not then maybe it's going through your breast milk? Try and cut it out for a few days maybe?

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 10/02/2010 21:10

Hi Ladies,

I finally made it back to mn, so sorry it's been so long, I've been having a quick look through your posts (v confusing getting my head round the name changers).

Well I started back to work 3 weekends ago, nothing too exciting in a local nursing ome (to maintain my nurse registration more than anything else) and although work is fine (no exactly taxing so far..) the loss of the weekend is killing me (I'm working friday and saturday nights, sleeping sat and part of sunday day), and already I know this is going to be a short term fix. I miss the girls loads and bf is a challenge too, I express every night during the week, then each evening when I am at work. Still it will be worth it in the long term.... >

Annabelle has gone from just crawling after christmas to cruising confidently with the furniture (!), she will walk across the room (in a fashion) with her walker to us... to be fair her biggest motivator is her two big sisters and I can just see how much she wants to chase around with them!

The last couple of days have been a bit of a nightmare though, she has not been herself and is running a temp of 39C, she still has no teeth so it could be a it of that, but dd1 had something similar a couple of weeks ago. my poor lo she's gone to bed dosed up on calpol and nurofen just to get her temp down.

we had 3 nights of sleeping through last week (yeah!) then the illness puts everything back again...

Hey ho, I'm knackered and NCIS is on so I'll love you and leave you, I can't believe it's 8 months, (it sounds so old! in baby terms) I'll check back tomorrow
xx

bigcar · 11/02/2010 10:04

June2009 · 11/02/2010 10:06

hey Doris welcome back :D work i a drag isn't it...are you going to stick with it or look for something else? Hope A gets better soon, and maybe a tooth will be coming through by the end of the week ;)
We have no teeth either, C's not crawling yet and does not like tummy time.
I was thinking of getting this to help. What do you guys think??
At the moment I try and get her on her tummy in the evening around 7:30 when she has just woken up from her last nap, before her last feed.
We go on the playmat downstairs and yesterday i switched the tv on so she had something to look at while on her belly so she stayed a bit longer. I wonder if it defies the point though as she just stares at the tv, doesn;t try to move iyswim (but otherwise she just cries and flips back round on her back (or just cries, the past couple of weeks she seems to have forgotten that she can roll back?).
I've tried to put all the "forbidden" things in front of her (mobile, keys, remote control) but she is just not interested at that point.

Any ideas Juners? I feel left out, all her RL baby friends bar one can crawl or drag themselves round the room by now.
(She's 8 mo next week.)

did yu guys get snow yesterday? we had 10 minutes of it which sent everyone into a panic and then nothing!

venetianred · 11/02/2010 14:22

My DD didn't crawl until 8 months and didn't like being on tummy. But then she took off and was walking just after one.

TV sounds a good idea, whatever works for you is fine.

They all have such different patterns - I can't believe how different DD and DS are in development.

Don't worry.

blueberrysorbet · 11/02/2010 18:57

mrs mac, my dd is bit like that- awake all days, and light snoozing all night- do not count times up or look at clock for fear i might make it worse. am hoping solid food intake going up will make her sleepier. didn;t work with ds so holdout no hope really.

mrs mac the birth -i had a cs -was ok, big fight with kids doc before birth as he clearly hadn't bothered to read my birth plan and wanted to take baby to nursery for 5 hours as "his special tools were there" even my doc told him to get knotted. then after the birth he was abusive to my dhand the newborn actually in the theatre so dh sacked him on the spot. took dd straight to my room and had her in my bed for whole time - called another dr to look at her - he arrived after 2 days but there was no need to worry. must say 2nd baby much less stressful. my doc was ace and no problems with the cs like the clowns in the uk- he managed to get dd out without cutting her, unlike ds

june, no crawling here! v restful she does tummy time on her own- i don;t actually hold with putting them on tummies - i think when they are ready they will do it on their own, just like all the stages , ie rolling is fine. also not fast with teeth, but that's ok as bf.. when my friends and younger babies crack out the solids on the go i just smile, as all that lugging around pureed carrot etc.. quite happy dd bf away

better go, admin night..

lauraloo09 · 11/02/2010 21:25

hiya everyone just a quick post to let you all know the lump in my neck i told you all about last week is just a cyst so the worry i had over the past week about it being a tumor was a waste of time oh and Sarah has 2 teeth now mrsmc I hope A has been a bit better for you x

Effielou · 12/02/2010 10:14

Hi All

Wow- miss a few days and theres so much to read!!lol

Its nice to see some old names back xx

Well All last week I had a sinking feeling that my grandpas funeral was going to be on DS1 birthday ( 23rd Feb) and low and behold- via a facebook chat with my cousin- its on Flynns birthday!!!! I'm not angry as such, but from now on- Flynns birthday will always be linked with Grandpa funeral!! ( I'm a sucker for remembering things like that) Nobody has told me yet- as in my Mum or Uncles and I wish they had said Steph, I'm really sorry but it was the only day they could do that would have been fine, but I'm so sad as we had loads planned for Flynn. Marks cross too- but doesn't understand why it upsets me- but Its my special day too- as its when I gave birth to my baby- iykwim!! grrrrrrrr xx sorry about that- I don't want to take the importance away from my grandpa either x

Today we find out whether Flynn gets his place at Imi's school!! eke-- everyone seems to have got an e-mail this morning- but we didn't and the admissions office goes to voice mail- so just have tp wait fot the postie!!

The school gave permission for us to take Imi out for my Dads birthday in Guernsey ( he'll be 60 ) so thats really good, as especially as she has 100% attendance!!

OMG-- I had to POS yesterday- I went to the GP to get stronger tablets for my spotty face ( developed really bad acne during my pregnancy) And as aunt flo hasn't happened yet- she suggested I do a pregnancy test!! is was BFN- secretly dissappointed, as sometimes sterilisation is not always 100% But on the good side- she just upped mu does of ABs so I can continue to BF abit longer!!

Enough about me!! lol

I hope you are all well and I'll read up on all the posts in a bit-- Ruperts just woken up xx

HUGS and KISSES to you all xxxx

Effielou · 12/02/2010 10:56

Hehehehhe We got our school of choice for Flynn-- woohoo xxx

June2009 · 12/02/2010 12:48

Hey Effie nice to hear from you Nice one that Flynn's got his choice! I'm not looking forward to this bit, we moved in this area because the school is good and our house is in the catchment. Sorry your grandad's funeral is on F's bday (how old is he?). I think people will remember more the day he passed away though if that's any comfort. I know our little ones haven't had a "proper" bday yet but our uncle's funeral was on C's 6month bday in January and I was a bit sad about it.

what's a POS?

bigcar is your pc fixed yet?
gauchita is your internet fixed yet?
What is it with technical pbs on the juners thread ;)

laura you must be so relieved, happy for you! :D Go Sarah with the teeth :D:D

venetian blueberry thank you, you're right. I didn't buy that tummy time mat in the end. It's really good to get another perspective from this thread, I get so tangled up in my own little world sometimes....
blueberry that first experience sounds awful! I didn't even realise there is a risk they can cut the baby, wow.

Hey mrsmc, Doris, and the rest of the juners :D

Is anyone doing anything remotely romantic on Sunday? (and where are the "valentine's" emoticon?? Don't we get any? )
We don't usually go out and I do hate how commerical it has turned but I do like to do something a little special for it (meal at home but nice plates out, that kind of thing).

We're going to Southampton for a friend's bday on saturday, staying the night (which takes a whole lot of planning for baby and I've not strated packing). and coming back sunday to have a little time to ourselves once the baby is asleep.
I've ordered some champagne & truffles as a surprise for Dh
(well all right, the truffles are for me really). It's supopsed to arrive today, no sign of it yet though . with my luck it'll turn up when we're at rhyme time.

Lately we've tried to stick to a routine (loosely) and baby has been good going to sleep most days and now in bed for the night by 8:30/9pm (as opposed to 11pm) and up around 7:30am. I'm very happy with that, she still does wake up a couple fo times a night but will take a dummy or water and go back to bed.
I've been having restless nights and feel stressed, no specific worries just very tired I think.

Right gottago pack for So'ton, have a lovely weekend :D

Gauchita · 12/02/2010 17:13

Hi ladies!

I've been reading every day so I'll try to post properly

June, remember I used to mention M hated tummy time with a passion? One baby massage instructor even told me and the rest of the mums babies had to be on their tummies every half hour I'm not joking, we were all and about it. One day she started liking it a bit more, completely out of the blue, and next thing I knew it was her fav position Babies are odd So I wouldn't worry about C. Glad to hear she's sleeping quite well at night and that she's also resting more as she's going to bed a bit early I completely sympathise on the "getting caught up and tangled in our own world" thing It happens to me a lot Your V day sounds nice! I have no idea if DH has planned something, knowing him I can be quite certain he hasn't Oh well...

Effie, yay on getting the school of choice!

Blueberry, glad to hear the birth went well Yay on DH being assertive and sacking the crazy doctor

Bigcar, it's technology agaist us, I tell you Sky has told us we're getting back online on 18th Feb!!! I can manage no TV but not no internet... with work, family far away, it's just not good... Hope you're well apart from that and that E is feeling a bit better from his cough?

Doris, great to hear from you Your week sounds hectic indeed, lady, super woman and hats off for managing the expressing so well

Laura, phew, that's great news! Yay on S's teeth!

Venetian, hi!

Mrsmc, sorry about that, then Hope you had a better night yesterday.

Right, M is quite clingy today, don't know why. I have lots of work, deadline on MOnday, thank God, so that DH can help during the weekend.

I have an interpreting job on Tuesday as well. DH will take the morning off to stay with M. I guess some sort of childcare arrangement is due to come sooner than we thought

We bought her a swimsuit yesterday for our time in sunny Ecuador Those things are too sweet when they're so tiny!

Oh, first driving lesson on Tuesday next week!!!

Hope you have a lovely valentine's weekend ladies

Waves!!!

whenskiesaregrey · 12/02/2010 17:21

Hi everyone!

June- DP and I are going out on our own for the first time since C was born! I can't wait! My mum is coming up and babysitting for us... I need to get a move on with the expressing, totally can't be bothered and only have about 3 ozs up to now. Don't think C would be too impressed with that! Hope your champagne and truffles arrive in time!

Effie- glad DS1 got into the school you wanted, you must be relieved. Did you see my thread in AIBU about catchment areas?

Hi everyone, sorry for lack of personal post, I can't stay long, but hope you all have great weekends, and MrsMc, hope you get some sleep! Laura, you must be relieved about the lump, are they just going to leave it now?

How are all your LO's getting on with meat and fish now? C won't have it He is great with fruit and veg, but as soon as I add any meat or fish, he shivers, gags, then spits it out! I dont know what it is he doesn't like. I fried a bit of chicken in a bit of butter for him and cut it into strips and he loved that, so he must like the taste. He has things lumpy now, and has Ready Brek for him breakfast, so he can deal with texture. He has tried mince, chicken and cod, and all failures!

I took him to get weighed yesterday and he has finally doubled his birth weight (8lb 6.5ozs --> 16lb 13ozs) at 32 weeks! I mentioned to the HV though that his poop pretty much comes out exactly the same as it goes in (i.e. green brocolli, orange carrot, beige banana/ parsnip, etc). You really could tell what he has eated by the contents of his nappy! Now the HV said I should take him to the Dr's because she has never heard of it before, have any of you noticed this with your LOs?? I dont really want to go through the fuss of poop samples etc etc to be patronised and told its totally normal by the uber-patronising Dr!

We are viewing 8 houses tomorrow, its going to be a busy weekend!

whenskiesaregrey · 12/02/2010 17:28

x-post Gauchita... your posts are just smiley-central!! Good luck with your driving lesson xx

June2009 · 13/02/2010 09:41

whenskies wtf about that HV??? Some of them really get on my nerves you know, how on earth can she tell you she's never heard of that before???. C's poop takes the colour of what she has eaten so do my other RL friend's babies... there is nothing unusual about that.
I tried minced meat wth tomato and C did not like it either however made into a burger and cut into strips she ate it fine. She generally seems to prefer finger foods to purees. (I don't think as much goes in though but her weight is ok.)
8 houses...we used to make loads of appointments for the weekend as well, have fun! (and try and see the potential of the place instead of what it looks like now. when i first saw our house the decor was awful and it never even crossed my mind that we would buy it! I love it now we took the carpets and wallpaper out renovated it and made it our own.)

gauchita Good luck with the interpreting job, is it for a famous highly ranked diplomat? That's the job I wanted to do when I was studying English at uni, it is hard work enough translating everything when french relatives come over for xmas ;)
thanks for reminding me M didn't like tummy time either, a few people I talked to about it said the same thing and i am more relaxed about it now. C shall crawl when she is ready for it

Still packing for tonight and I want to fit in an appointment at the hairdresser so I'd better go! take care

Gauchita · 14/02/2010 01:39

Hi ladies!

Skies, I know I don't seem to realise until I see the post on the page That HV sounds odd (to be nice, actually). I can tell what M has eaten before by the contents of the nappy as well. Is she serious? Telling you to go to the docs because of that... odd... Hope you're having fun looking at houses, how exciting! Oh, hope you had fun tonight on your date with DP

June, oh I wish not many diplomats work in or visit Huddersfield It's an interesting one, though, at a solicitor's office. It's been so long since my last interpreting assignment... I was pg and then mat leave started so I'm excited Ohhh appt at the hairdresser's I must make one, my hair is growing wildly again... Have a great time in Southamptom

Hi to all Juners!

I'm wide awake after going to bed at 8 with M. She had an odd night, started sniffling and getting moody so I thought a cold was in order... She had her dinner and a bath and proceeded to throw up eeeeeverything. It's the first time she throws up so much. That wouldn't have been too much of an issue if I hadn't been alone, as DH was not home, AND if I didn't have a vomit phobia Lord... that was hard, I kept taking deep breaths and telling her it was OK as I didn't want to scare her... I cleaned the carpet as that was going to smell worse tomorrow, I really don't know how I did that, I was shaking the whole time So anyway I took her to bed with me and fell asleep. Now I'm full of beans though and hungry, as I never got round to having dinner.

Oh, with the whole internet thing I forgot to thank you ladies for sharing your coccyx experiences Thank you, I now see it can take a little while longer to heal...

Anyway... hope you're having a nice weekend ladies. Hope to hear from you soon!

Waves!!!

lauraloo09 · 14/02/2010 10:03

hiya everyone! Happy Valintines Day to you, hope DP's DH's are spoiling you well. DH and I aren't the romantic type s we don't do anything, MIL took S overnight so we got a long lie at least.

Also after period being nearly 2 weeks late i got the faintest of faint lines on a positive result this morning so looks like i could def be pregnant again, but going to try tomorrow to see if i get a stronger line tomorrow. Just thought i'd share my news with you lovely ladies first...however those on my fb page please do not say anything there as not wanting RL family and friends to find out i cant deal with they judging and comments yet, going to wait till after 12 week scan. I'm both excited and worried at same time about money, coping, what if i get PND again and also (this might sound silly) but worried about the effect on S as she wont be the only one needing my attention i'm worried what this will do to her

bunny cant remember if it's you that is TTC how's it going?

lauraloo09 · 14/02/2010 10:34

maybe i'm imagining the faint line, can only see it now when tilted towards the light lol going out of my mind here lol

whenskiesaregrey · 14/02/2010 19:19

Ooh Laura, how exciting! Let us know as soon as you find out tomorrow! If you are pregnant, when would you be due- Nov?
