re: bags, well they no longer do the one I wanted (large, brown). I think the pink one is just going to get dirty at the bottom so Ill have to find another one.

Have a lovely birthday naat :D

Thanks daisy I do have the "what to expct" book, somewhere..hope you and dc are all well.

skillbo thanks for your message. the rash is not getting worse at least, I'm using canesteen for now.

strawberrysam heya, we've been trying blw as well as pureed stuff. If baby helps hersel to pureed stuff from the bowl, does that count as blw ? re: sleeping, while C was not too well she has fallen asleep in the bed with me and then been transferred to her cot. Since she is better though I am also trying to get her to sleep in her cot and not picking her up but comforting her if she is unsettled. It's working ok so far, takes time and effort but hopefully it's getting there.

hi lynnn, how is it going?

everybody ready for tonihgt's strictly/xfactor?

Skillbo · 12/12/2009 22:22

Happy birthday Naat - hope you have had a nice relaxing day today with your hubby and Mila xx

Kind of glad that Ali left tonight even though she was very good. Having said that, only saw Ricky's argentine tango due to bedtime - seem to have missed the whole series this year.

Right, off to bed as Jazzy sleeping dreadfully at the moment... the room she is in is so cold so we now have to have our heating on all the time which is a bit bad for the pocket but what can you do - I only got three hours sleep last night as I was worried about her so much . Silly really. However, she has come down with a nasty cold which I think she got from a friend at playgroup but I am sure that the room doesn't help! DP was a star though and took her out to play and gave me couple of extra hours but still feel quite shitty.

Bit of juicy gossip but very secret squirrel... I'm going to ask DP to marry me for Christmas ! Not sure what you give men as don't think rings work so have got him a little Luigi figurine (from Mario... I know but he loves it!) and he's going to ask on my behalf. I think he will say yes, but you never know!!

Anyways - beddy byes! Night lovely Juners!

Naat · 12/12/2009 23:18

Hi all!

Thank you all for your lovely birthday messages!

Skillbo, hope J sleeps better tonight. I know what you mean about cold rooms, we had to move our room around as M was getting a bit of a silent - and hidden - draft (her cot was near the window)and every time she woke up she had frozen cheeks and ears Wow! Great news!!! Love the Luigi figurine idea! And glad to have him to ask on your behalf Where are you spending Christmas?

June, glad to hear the rash hasn't got worse at least... hope she has a good night (and so do you ) Have you had some peaceful 48hs? or have you received any visitors? Hope you managed to catch up on some work.

Bigcar, you're a busy bee these days I can see Come back when you have a spare minute

Daisy, hi!

We had a very nice time yesterday with the friends that came home I got a lovely mug (I loooove mugs) and a hottie (I think that's what they're called) and some wellies socks DH was clever and directly asked me what I wanted I haven't decided yet so we'll see

We're in London now, we got here at around 4 and just spent some time with our cousins here (DH's actually but well ) We then went for dinner together so I've had a lovely bday. M was a saint during the car journey and went to bed quite easily so here's hoping for a calm night.

Hope you're all having a nice weekend. Hope you all have a good and calm night full of sleep

Waves!!!

evening all

june, was out shopping today and saw this, thought of you! They do it in white as well but I couldn't find it on the website, the sleeves are detachable.

skillbo, how exciting, you'll have to let us know what the answer is, hopefully we'll be out buying virtual hats in the sales

I'm pleased Chris didn't go out of the dancing, I quite like him. Rickys Argentinian tango was impressive, much better than Allys. My mil is devastated, she was a big Ally fan!

Hello all.

Oh my goodness, so sorry I haven't been on here for months. I can't even begin to catch up on all your news, but I trust that everyone is well and I've been keeping up with the Facebook-ers amongst you.

DD is NOT a good sleeper at night, MrsMc I'm with you. We've been doing a bit of controlled crying in the day and that's worked brilliantly so now she has a 45 min(ish) sleep in the morn and a 2 hr sleep after lunch. She then goes down about 7pm and I wake her for a feed about 10-10.30ish. Then all hell breaks loose......

So 6 sleep-deprived weeks later, we're embracing 'the Ford woman' and it seems to be working a bit. She now sleeps til roughly 5am which is loads better than before. I'm doing okay, apart from the sleep-deprivation.

Weaning is going okay, and she likes most things (apart from mango and avocado).

FIL's cancer is back and it's aggressive. We don't know how long we've got; suffice to say we're making the most of Christmas and the time we have. I don't think it's hit DH (or any of us yet). It's so frustrating as he spent a year battling it, the surgery and chemo seemed to have done the trick, only for it to have come back a couple of months later. It's a cruel bastard of a disease.

Hope you are all well and your babes are as bonny as usual.

Much love x

bigcar · 14/12/2009 10:41

morning all

ineed, so sorry to hear about your fil, cancer is a really cruel disease Fingers crossed the sleep improves for all of you.

skies, good name change Dd1, if she goes to this uni, will hopefully be living in halls, I think you learn as much about independent living at uni as you do about the subject you study. It is quite local, only Roehampton so about 45 - 60 mins on the bus, so maybe not quite far enough away to qualify for halls. How was the lesbian pint drinking? must have been nice to have an evening out!

june, hope C is feeling better and the nappy rash is clearing

for those with older los, if you haven't found this already! Here, and here so you can keep an eye on where Santa is! Have you been naughty or nice? Here too! And you just have to elf yourself, hysterical, they used to do a scrooge one, but I don't think it's running this year!

Hi all!

Bigcar, those are fun links Hope E's fully recovered now

Ineed, I've been on FB very little lately but I saw something on Thursday or Friday about it Glad to hear naps are better and that she's now sleeping until 5!

Strawberry, yes, mostly power naps here as well, although she gets a 1hr nap once a day, which is good. These last days with the trip and all routine has not been as fixed but well, we resume it tonight, let's hope she hasn't forgotten it already

Hi to all Juners!

Right, we were back at 1am yesterday (or today, actually) but we had a great time in London both with the cousins and M's godfather and wife We walked quite a lot and she behaved quite well, only complaining when food was short, so not bad at all considering she was on her kari me most of the time. He gave her a Fisher Price mobile phone, which I'm actually thrilled about as she's terribly attracted to them and mine has been dribbled over enough and an interactive/talking/singing frog, which we haven't opened yet... we'll see if we decide to leave it for Christmas (from him, of course, not trying to steal a pressie ).

My parents are giving us a Wii for Christmas, and DH is soooooooooooo happy about that. They're actually sending the money, of course, and we'll buy it here So I guess soon I'll belong to the club of console owners

Right, looooads of laundry to do so I'd better go.

Waves to all!!!!

daisy5 · 15/12/2009 16:57

F is 6 months today. We went to the Toddler Group christmas party. He isn't a toddler but I was a signed up member with DD and he enjoyed it so much the time we went that I keep going. There are about 4 other tiny ones there. They had a Jabberjacks entertainer and he loved bouncing along to all the songs.

Then he had chicken for lunch with sweet potato, carrot and green beans followed by mango puree. Even though the chicken wasn't very smooth, he loved it. Then he slept almost 3 hours at lunchtime which was a treat as I got some Christmas cards done.

It's the Christmas church service on Sunday and have to try to convince DD to dress as a donkey again, as the vicar was so impressed by her outfit last time (a friend of mine who is an artist made her mask). DD was never quite sure that she wanted to be a donkey, especially now in her 'princess' loving days.

And that's about it......10 days till Christmas. Just have six presents for F (santa and from us). Not much, but not much point buying more as he has inherited so much from DD. We did think of giving him some things that DD likes, so he will 'share' with her, to encourage her to 'share' with him. She gets quite paranoid when he touches her toys. Hmmm.

daisy5 · 15/12/2009 18:09

Oh...and I forgot to say, dropped in to get weighed etc and on 6 month birthday he weighed exactly 8.00kg (to the last 0) with a head circumference of 45cm and is 70cm long. Even they were quite surprised at what 'round' numbers they were.

Just last weekend, DH had joked that he must be '8 stone' by now....and I said you are so right, he must be almost 8 by now.....not realising he sarcastically said 'stone' when I meant kilo.

mrsmcjnr - hope you are getting some sleep.

june - is C any better?

naat - glad M is enjoying being out and about. There is so much to see and do, that it can be quite fun for little ones. Well done M on being so great.

StrawSam - 1.2 tog....what temp is that for? 16-20? What do you need to put underneath. Short sleeved vest and full length sleepsuit?

June2009 · 16/12/2009 01:28

hey, just quickly before I go to bed

thanks for the links to sleepsuits with sleeves sam and bigcar

glad you had a good time in London naat, what solids do you feed Mila when you're on the move?
I have managed to catch up on some work on sunday, tidied up the office too which is always a good start.

funny links bigcar, you had me playing with that tree where you have to light up all the bulbs by connecting the wire right.

daisy how funny all these round numbers! they don't measure babies here which annoys me, I also have to ask to have her head circumference taken and I am bombarded with questions (ie: "why would you want to know") every time I mention it.

C is much much better thanks, back to normal.

I think I overwashed my hands when she had diarrhea for fear of spreading it and now my knuckles are what I can only describe as "damaged". They have kind of cracked in places and are really dry so putting moisturiser cream every hour, v. annoying, never happened before.

n the ils front, this week so far I've seen fil on monday and mil then sil & bil today.
Hopefully this is it for this week.
sam I don't pick up the phone sometimes if I see it's either of them calling again and I really don't have time .

hey ineed sorry to hear about your fil

Today we went to the shopping centre and got me two (one of them much needed) handbags, a scarf & some gloves as a bday/christmas present from dh.
We had a lovely afternoon, I am really pleased!

C will be 6 months on Friday, unbelievable .
Some of us have been talking to eachother on here for over a year now!

Better go to bed now or I will regret it in the morning!

Naat · 16/12/2009 09:50

Morning all,

Ineed, to hear about your FIL. ((hug))

June, I bought these from Asda one day, they are tiny so I usually take a mashed baked apple (I just decore them, put them in a bowl with a bit of water in the microwave for 5 mins and when they're ready you just have to take out the "inside" with a spoon, it's really easy) or maybe another mashed veggie if I had made some and not frozen everything yet. If I go out in a rush then maybe a banana and one of those Ella's kitchen pouches of organic food that Bigcar mentioned once. M loves them Glad you managed to catch up on some work, hope that's it on the visits front for this week. Nice shopping! I still have to choose my bday pressie

Strawberry, Daisy, June, Bigcar, have a look on ebay, I found long sleeved grobags for 7.99 + 1.99. THose are for up to 9 months, though... I'll keep looking.

Daisy, those are round numbers!! Well done F! M is now more than twice her birth weight (like 600g more)

Hi to all Juners!

This darkness thing is getting to me, I think. If I want to go out with M it has to be before noon so as to come back before 3.30, when it starts getting dark... but by the time I finished the things I have to do around here it's 1 maybe Oh well! It's only 8 days till Christmas!!

Right, M's up, got to go.

Waves!!!¬

Naat · 16/12/2009 09:52

June, that link didn't work Let me see if I can do it properly

Naat · 16/12/2009 10:15

June, let's see if I can do it now...this

Naat · 16/12/2009 10:16

Yay!!!

bigcar · 16/12/2009 10:40

morning all

daisy, found this on the grobag site, scroll to the bottom, it gives a rough guide on what to wear under a sleeping bag. Although to be honest E is wearing more than they recommend at the moment, last night he had on a pair of socks, long sleeved bodysuit, cotton sleepsuit and a hand knitted cardy (not particularly thick) under his 2.5 tog sleeping bag. I'm not sure how warm our bedroom is but he still wasn't overly warm with all that lot! Hope your little donkey has fun on sunday, is tinsel round the ears allowed! Good weight there, nice round numbers

naat, glad to hear you had a good time, a trip like that can be tiring for los! We have a wii, it's great fun, we like the games we can all join in with. It will give you chronic arm ache by the end of the first day and be careful to not whack each other, very easily done [hgrin] Oh and don't leave M rolling around the floor either!

strawberry, your friends dd would have done well at my dd3s christmas play, all the nursery were sheep Last time I did the fitness age thing on wii sport I came out about 60 something will be steering clear of that for a while

june, good to hear C is all better now, hope your hands clear up soon too! I liked the bulb game too, couldn't get the hang of the skiing snowman though, if it had been a game to avoid picking up all the bits I would have got top score! Is it your birthday soon? Lovely presents! I usually go with dh for my presents, he really doesn't get the whole how to choose a gift I really want thing, this christmas I've got a new camera, although he won't let me have it till christmas day, I'm not the most patient of people

E has his last lot of antibiotics today but he's still coughing like a 60 a day bloke so I think it will be back down the doctors again later in the week, oh the fun He's still quite happy apart from that, gets himself all round the sitting room now and eats whatever he gets his hands on, toys, dd3s shoes, a lottery ticket that had got under the chair and anyones feet that happen to be available E will be out of his carseat soon, his head is almost level with the top in fact with a hat on it is level with the top!

My neighbour managed to really piss me off at the weekend, I couldn't believe how rude he was! He had some workmen coming to fix his outside light that is high up on their wall so they needed to put their ladder up on our side of the fence between the houses, there's a locked gate they needed to get through, not a problem in the slightest, these things go both ways But, he was talking to me out of the front of the house as we were just on our way out, got halfway through his sentence and saw dh coming out, at which point he just said, I'll speak to your dh and walked off to ask him I take it I wasn't capable of making a decision like that

Dd3s last proper afternoon at nursery today, tomorrow is a shorter session for their party, then will have the other dcs at home from friday lunch time

What's everyone doing for christmas this year? We will be at home christmas day with just us lot, boxing day will be at pil with all dhs family, apart from dd1 who has to work in the afternoon, haven't a clue why shops feel the need to open boxing day, tis crap Waves to all

bigcar · 16/12/2009 11:16

It's just started snowing here

Naat · 16/12/2009 13:00

Bigcar, thanks for that link Oh that neighbour needs an update, he might think we're still in the 50s Glad to hear E is better now... LOL at him eating everything in his way Thanks for those wii tips, on the wkend DH played with the cousins' one and he got so carried away waving that control! (I tell you, the ones watching those playing have 3 times more fun! How funny they look moving around and waving like mad! My stomach hurt badly from all the laughing )

The cousins travel to Buenos Aires to spend the hols so this year we have no family near at all... We're spending Christmas eve with friends in Leeds and then it's just us on Christmas day. We put up the tree last Friday but underestimated the amount of lights needed soo we'll go and get some more. I think shops open on boxing day for early Jan sales , at least I saw them doing that last year here. Why don't they let those poor people rest is beyond me... enough long hours they work in the days coming to Christmas!

daisy5 · 16/12/2009 13:18

bigcar - oh thanks - I have all the normal Grobag ratings....it's these ones with fleeces sleeves. The rating was 1.2 and obviously with arms I wasn't sure how much they needed underneath.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 16/12/2009 20:04

Hello all

How lovely to see snow today. Gives us hope that there may be some snow on Christmas Day!

Thanks for your words about FIL.

DD is also in loads more than they suggest on the Grobag site. She wakes all the time if she's cold and the times I've dressed her according to the chart, she's freezing! At the moment it's 19 in her room, and she's in a vest, sleepsuit, fleece sleepsuit and a 2.5 tog bag......

love to all xx

Skillbo · 16/12/2009 22:39

Evening ladies - hope you're all fabulous! Been trying to catch up but sorry if I miss lots!

Naat - love the fact you got a hottie for your birthday; my one of choice would be Christian Slater, got he is HOT . Also a huge fan of the wii - the night I went into labour, I had been playing a slightly energetic and frustrating game which I am sure got everything moving!!

Strawbs - glad to hear BLW is going well. We are going to go the puree route as Jazzy seems up for it. She hasnt been well (AGAIN!) and at least this way she's getting something down. I am a bit worried about the amount of milk she is getting as she is sleeping in (sorry ladies struggling with sleep - although she is still pretty bad in the middle of the night!) so am trying to introduce breakfast as well as lunch but don't seem to have enough hours in the day!

Bigcar - have checked Norad for Santa for a few years now and I don't have any older ones, just a big kid myself! Strictly should be good this weekend.. I reckon Cola will win but I actually do want Ricky to as he is genuinely the better dancer! I have a friend who knows the Hollyoaks cast really well and apparently he's a bit of a dirty letch and pervert but I don't care - he's soooo pretty! Am a bit at your neighbour - ufortunately probably not an isolated incident but does work both ways. As mentioned, DP is taking over the caring and at a group I was at today, the lady from SureStart almost wet herself because a Dad had come along - as if its really a 'Mums Only' thing. Hope DP is ready for it - although, the Dad was treated like royalty and as if he was doing open heart surgery whereas us mums just get on with it . Thanks also for the link to the layers for this time of year - like everyone, Jazzy seems to wearing a few more than recommended here but her room is very very cold and she never seems TOO hot, if you know what I mean.

Ineed - hope the sleeping is improving and the CC has done its magic. Had to at not liking mango, Jazzy had a bit of a strop with hers this afternoon even though she munched it down last week. Oh well, I guess like us, they're sometimes just not up for stuff! So sorry to hear the news about your FIL - here's hoping your Christmas is extra special if a little bittersweet.

Daisy - your lo is on chicken - wow! Although we struggle to get two meals in, she's also pretty good with lumps - might try her with peas at the end of the week which are pretty chunky!

June - big sympathies on the knuckles. Have the same here and am now addicted to baby lotion. Seems to do the trick but its horrible - not quite sure where mine stemmed from, probably dehydration as skin very dry. Like Naat - I just have a couple of little pots which I put goo in when we're out and about. Its a little annoying as you need to take bibs, lots of wipes, spoons (at least one extra for her to play with as so easily distracted when out an about!) and change of clothes etc etc.

We're spending Christmas the same way we have for the last four years or so - with DP's mum and family. Last year we announced Jazzys imminent arrival so it was quite special but now really looking forward to actually having her here this years! Like Daisy, we really haven't gone overboard on pressies and other than a few pairs of socks (those ones with the rattle on) and the rocking reindeer, she's only got a steering wheel for her buggy from us. I know there are sacks of stuff elsewhere so we will save out pennies for the day to day stuff.

Having said that, I am buying a car - hopefully before xmas. It's going to be so handy as I haven't had a car for about 18 months so it will be fun. Had a test drive the other day and having only driven heaps in the past, couldnt get over the brakes and how quiet it was... haven't decided yet but really want one!!

Going to get Jazzy weighed tomorrow - have been trying since she officially hit six months on Monday but just keep running out of time. Well done on all of your lo's gains!

Anyways - best head as DP wants the computer and have been monopolising it a little. He only has 2 more days at work whilst I only have 3 more weeks at home - oh well, at least Christmas is in between.... YAY!!
