afternoon all

naat, that is so true, watching people playing the wii can be more fun than doing it yourself! At least you didn't do what my bil managed last year, in typical bloke oneupmanship he got a tree that was way to big for the house and had to chop a couple of foot off the top this year sil is moaning because they have one that is so wide they've had to move all the furniture, wonder what he'll manage next year

ineed, it would be lovely to have snow christmas day, can't remember the last white christmas we had

skillbo, look forward to reading that tip on a how to get labour going thread sounds better than a lot that's suggested! Lol, haven't heard them called cola before, he has more character and personality than Ricky but I think Ricky is by far a better dancer and not bad to look at either. I can already see the moaning from the judges about how it's supposed to be a dance competition, I just hope Len doesn't get to do his sev-en this week and a few fab-u-lous from Craig would be good! I think it's lovely to see dads at groups, they are always made very welcome where we go, mainly because we all know how much it would take to get our own dhs to go into a room with that many women

E felt cold again last night, I usually stick my hand down the back of his neck to see how warm he is, so he had a cardy on again. It's hard to find a balance between too hot and too cold at the moment, will be happier when the weather improves! E is sort of managing commando crawling now when he wants to, dh spent about half an hour last night trying to get him to do it and he wouldn't, was very funny, E just lay on the floor giving him odd looks and chatting away.

dd3 is at her nursery christmas party this afternoon so this is my last chance this year for a relatively quiet cup of tea, the other dcs finish at lunch time tomorrow. They will be totally hyped from then until boxing day evening, it will be lovely, very loud, but lovely

waves to all

Naat · 18/12/2009 10:28

Hello lovely Juners!

Snowy snowy over here since yesterday here's hoping for a white Christmas!

Bigcar, over here she's sleeping under layers and layers as well... and when she moves and uncovers herself she wakes up, of course... so we'll keep the layers for now. at your BIL!

Skillbo, I second bigcar on wishing to see that tip on a labour thread Hope you find the car you want, I'm starting my driving lessons in January, I've been convinced of the benefits of being able to drive LOL at women wetting themselves when seeing a dad at a playgroup but it's true!

Ineed, hope nights are getting better. xx

June, you must be having a busy week, hope it's IL-less

Hello to all juners!

Lots of snow here, and it's cooooooooold, but the snow makes it worth it M this morning said, not on purpose or consciously, pa pa pa pa twice (with some seconds in between, I mean) DH was not around so I called him and obviously when he came back she didn't say it again. Maybe I shouldn't tell him she said it when staring at the Christmas tree

Anyway, I should get on and wrap the pressies I have here

Ohhh rant alert! I bought a dummy holder from ebay for M back in November (12 to be exact) They're made by a woman, she's a working mum, like many of us, so on the page she stated that due to high demand and being a working mum the delivery could take from 5 to 21 (yes, 21!) working days. OoooooooK I said, I really like the bloody holder so I'll wait... So, it's 18th DECEMBER today and the thing hasn't arrived yet!!! I'm all for being understanding with a busy working mum, but am I insane to think that if that's your business and you're making certain requests (up to 21 working days to deliver) you should at least make sure your customer receives the product by said date!? I sent her a message on 12 December and she hasn't even replied yet! I'm NOT happy! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand breathe, sorry for the rant

Waves to all! Hope you're enjoying the snow and it's not disrupting anyone's transport routine too much.

whenskiesaregrey · 19/12/2009 14:03

woohoo snow! How cool would it be if it snowed for our baby's first Christmas!

June2009 · 20/12/2009 09:51

heya, fairly busy week here too, the snow has not helped but it is lovely isn't it :D
naat C also said "da da da" which is the cutest thing, she said daddy by chance as well which made dh's day!
gosh, 21 days and still not here, very on your behalf!! can you find it somewhere else and get it cancelled by ebay?

mil confirmed she is coming from xmas day and i instantly regreted inviting her, but what the hell, it's only one day, how bad can it be...(she just talks at you non stop, you can't get a word in edgeways). Shit and now I have a present for her, the shops will be packed today won't they, i'm not even going to try! Monday maybe...

christening preparations are going well I think, we'll probably panic on the day.
the godmother said she made a dollhouse for the baby (am I the only one who thinks they're a bit creepy?) Not sure where we'll put it as I don't see C playing with something that delicate (and with little things she'll put straight in her mouth) for a few years yet....

We've seen less of ils last week and it was bliss. (still saw each and everyone of them at some point or another.) C was much more setled as a result.

Bigcar our central heating is bersek. freezing cold during the day an boiling hot at night. It'saking C up I think, we gave her water at 4am.
there are very few dads in our groups over here. Im signing dh up to baby swimming with C in january.

skillbo, hope your knuckles are better, mine are slowly getting back to normal. plenty of cream and gloves outside.

C calling, gotta go, sorry not had much time to catch up with everyone ...

MrsMcJnr · 20/12/2009 22:42

It's been so long since I posted that I had to look for the thread sorry I haven't been about, weaning seems to take up a lot of time. I remember it being the same with DS, up pureeing until the early hours. Still not getting much sleep. Hope all is well and so hope to catch up over the next few days. Merry Christmas

Hi all!

We're all very busy I see the thread is really quiet!

Strawberry, sorry to hear L is waking so much Over here it's twice a night But on a bad night it's more so I know the feeling... How was the snow? Did L like it?

Mrsmc, ohhh hope your nights are better! ((hug))

June, you have a spot in heaven JUST for being so patient with your ILs. Hope Christmas day is good and they behave. I had a doll house when I was young but I know what you mean, some of them (the classic/old-looking) can be creepy Hope C's rash is now all gone.

It'd be great to hear from all Juners these days I know most catch up on FB but I'm not logging on too much these days. Hi to all anyway, hope you have a lovely Christmas!

(Wow it's knowing heavily here right now!!!)

It's freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing cold up here, dear Lord Snow since last week, Sat and Sunday were very bad, heavy snow and lots of blocked roads. I wasn't the cleverest person yesterday and decided to go for a walk with M only to realise that it was like walking on the sand and the pram was not the easiest thing to manouver oh well...

It'd be lovely to have a white (albeit freezing ) Christmas. Let's see.

I realised the other day (yes, after 2 years!) that we celebrate on 24th, Christmas Eve, not on the 25th like you. Thinking about it, your way is more child-friendly as we celebrate during the night up until very late and babies/children usually go to sleep anyway... If I don't hear from you hope you all have a great Christmas with those you love the most!!!

Waves!!!

snowwombat · 22/12/2009 12:23

Morning girls! Very quiet on the juners thread- everyone busy with christmas preparations?
Enjoying a quiet half hour- A asleep- even the postman commented on how quiet the house was and how quickly I answered the door today! So many parcels arriving here (I did all the shopping on the net), the postie and I are on good terms

Finally some snow here too! Hoping our bubbas get a white christmas! The in-laws have got the sledge out- not sure A quite ready for it by himself .

Not having to do too much work- my MIL in cooking the turkey, I am doing a ham, nut roast and pavlova. Off to stay with them for a week and looking forward to catching up on sleep/reading while the grandparents amuse A .

How is everyone doing on the feeding front? A, on the whole, has been quite good. Trying everything, although pineapple probably the favourite. Spooning in porridge and yogurt but BLW everything else.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas. Hope you have a lovely time. Special thoughts to those with dificult families- hope they behave (esp your ILs june)

Right, A letting me know he is awake, sorry for the lack of personal posts everyone. Take care

June2009 · 22/12/2009 16:21

argh we'v been having teething and waking up several times at night, i think we need to use calpol tonight, i'm nackered and got a cold sore again.

naat hope you are settling in your new flat!
We also celebrate xmas on xmas eve in france and at until midnighttopen th presents.
we're doing both this year. (Ha!)

thanks snow ils used to be normal and pleasant, we all got on really until about 3 years ago when mil/fil's divorce started so it is weird trying to adjust.

I am really looking forward to festivities though, both xmas and christening, haven't had time to think about new year's eve yet.
we usually spend it with friends and had a party round ours last year but everbody seems to be doing their own thing this year.

sorry still not got much time to catch up, sounds pretty hectic for everyone :D
have good time!

Naat · 22/12/2009 17:19

June, hope you have a better night tonight... we were up 3 times last night and DH said it could be teething too, I hadn't though about that Yes, I remember staying up until midnight when I was young, sometimes I didn't make it though We're celebrating with friends this year but as one of them is Argie as well we're doing it on 24th Hope everything goes great on the Christening, I'm sure C will look absolutely gorgeous xxx

bigcar · 22/12/2009 19:13

evening all

not much time to post at the moment, too much running around to do! Ds1 was bad packing in M&S this morning, same tomorrow and thursday, for his scout group, he had a fab time, just hope he didn't squash too much. Dd1 took ds1 and dd2 to see Alvin and the chipmunks 2 this afternoon, thought I'd get 5 mins peace but dh wanted to see his mum. Dh is off now until next week which will be nice, especially as the kids are all hyper on the run up to christmas.

we took E back to the doctor yesterday, looks like he might have asthma (runs in the family), his chest still isn't clear so he now has to use an inhaler and we've to take him back next week. He's still quite happy in himself apart from his sudden dislike for veg he's really gagging on it and it's puree so not sure what he's up to but he's gobbling the fruit down no problem at all!

june, hope you got your heating sorted, that doesn't sound good. Hope the ils are behaving and continue to so for christmas Dd3 is getting this dolls house, not all are creepy but I do get what you're saying Hope the christening preparations are going well!

snow, that sounds good, now wondering if I could palm my lot off on nanny, some how I don't think she's be up for it, especially as she already has dhs great aunt for christmas, boxing day will be enough with us I think {fsmile]

strawberry, hope you enjoyed the snow, it was really bad here yesterday evening, fil got stuck at work, finally got home at 10.30pm, he was starving apparently, he'd raided the biscuit jar in his office but that was all the food he could find! Thankfully the roads today have been pretty clear, just the side roads that are still icy.

MrsMcJnr, skies, hope all's well with you

naat, sounds like a good excuse to have 2 christmases to me Unless E wakes up at midnight I won't be up, can barely keep my eyes open to about 10 these days I'm not on facebook so say happy christmas to all on there for me please

hope everyone is all set now for the big day. Just in case I don't get much time, a very happy christmas to all, waves

daisy5 · 22/12/2009 21:58

Merry Christmas everyone.

Had a horrible 2 mile trip home from shops today that took 1hr 10mins due to snow, closed roads and traffic jams. Poor F was screaming his little heart out and there was nothing I could do.

Busy wrapping pressies now, before last bottle and then bed.

My daughter has been a complete star today. Saying 'Santa likes girls that eat all their supper' and 'Santa doesn't like it when you push' etc etc has really been paying dividends. She pays more attention to what Santa likes/dislikes than what I do .

Just a quickie naat and june - the homeopathic powders 'Teetha' have worked wonderfully well for both my children. I sometimes need to use 2 or 3 sachets but it almost immediately works.

Skillbo · 22/12/2009 22:31

Evening all ladies - sorry I've been so quiet but it has been pretty hectic round these parts and, now DH has finished work we seem to stay up way to late

Bigcar - what did you think about Strictly? Was glad Chris won but was secretly rooting for Ricky - he didn't seem to get the popular vote so felt a bit for him as he was the best dancer Strictly has ever seen, I think. (Do you watch Hollyoaks and the 6 months in the future episode - !! Oh well - roll on next year! Rah for commando crawling - we still have a bit of a lump for a baby, but she's getting there. She just practices skydiving on her tummy at the mo - very cute. Must be nice to have the brood home but also quite crazy as well!

Naat - the snow sure is crazy although, like most years, we haven't got any here. It's something to do with the closeness to the sea apparently but it sure does suck! I would wait for all the snow to go before you start your driving lessons . Yay for M having a bit of a chat - Jazzy says goo goo, gaa gaa (which I thought was just a myth!) and also mum, but definitely not at me which is a shame!

Skies - fingers crossed for a white crimbo but not holding out too much hope!

June - Hope mil behaves on xmas. As mentioned, will be at mine for the whole of xmas and although it will be lovely, for some reason she has started calling Jazzy 'her baby' which is starting to annoy DP a little - and me tbh! Not sure what I think about dollhouses as had one growing up which was a bit decrepit but I did love it - maybe more so as it was a bit of a wreck! My knuckles are much better thanks although my skin in general is very very dry - need to drink more I think!

MrsM - totally agree that weaning takes ages! We are getting there but trying to squeeze in 3 meals a day means it feels like we just feed her, play for 10 minutes, sleep, then feeding then rushing round the shops, then nap and then feeding! On the plus side, it is going well - she is not blw but doesn't seem phased by lumps as have started to just give her our tea slightly mushed. She is also really into her finger food - toast fingers a particular favourite!

Strawb - I know what you mean about skipping bits but at the same time, so desperately don't want her to grow too quick.. the last 6 months seem to have flown and before I know it, we'll be celebrating her 1st birthday!!

Snow - hope you have a great time and A gets spoiled rotten by GPs... fingers crossed you gets lots of rest and hit the new year with oodles of energy!

Daisy - so know what you mean about baby crying and being helpess. Picked up my new car yesterday [YAY ) but got stuck in traffic as the guy at the garage didn't tell us it was ready until I called at so by the time we picked it up, we were well and truly stuck in traffic. Poor Jazzy got really worked up but eventually cried herself to sleep but hideous!

Anyways, best get on as wouldn't mind getting to bed at a decent hour (and still have half a glass of Baileys to get through )

Am going to add a couple of new photos to my profile now as got a couple of really really sweet ones - if I don't speak to you, have a WONDERFUL Christmas all xxxx

June2009 · 23/12/2009 02:27

bigcar that's a brlliant dollhouse :D awww, I like it when scouts pack our bags, I've seen them do it round here. (Dh used to be a scout as well .

naat not sure what happened with my spelling, we've let C play with the laptop (good site for babies here by the way!) and since then some letters are sticky. (look at me blaming the baby already! it could have been dh spilling something on the keyboard.)
The baby's godmother gets the gown so I've not seen what she will be wearing yet but I am told it's amazing

skillbo mil had better not start calling C "her" baby that would drive me nuts.
have a good time at your ils!
daisy where do you get teetha from? I looked in the supermarkets we go to and not seen any.

tomorrow is going to be hectic so i better go to bed,

daisy5 · 23/12/2009 09:47

june - yes I went to buy some at Boots yesterday and it wasn't there. Independent pharmacies tend to I think. I thought Sainsbury's and Tesco's sell it, but it might vary from one to another.

Have uploaded a photo of F in his highchair. He usually slouches with this unimpressed look (bit like the last drunk standing at a bar!) but in this one he was quite perky. He went off food after being sick you see, but starting to get happier about it.

x

daisy5 · 23/12/2009 09:53

By the way, we got this dolls house for my daughter. The furniture that goes with it is lovely too.

daisy5 · 23/12/2009 10:25

skillbo - after saying we weren't going overboard on presents, DP got all distressed that DD had so many presents and F so few, that he insisted I get some more.....I really think the money would have been better spent on housing the poor homeless during this cold cold Christmas, as he really doesn't need any more. DP and I have different views about Christmas - he spends a small fortune....we just used to get one present from everyone when we were children.

June2009 · 23/12/2009 10:33

Thanks daisy I'll have a look at the chemist.
Not sure we can actually go anywhere today because of the icy roads. (and so many things to get still!!) We gave C calpol last night, Ashton & parsons powder in the afternoon (that powder just makes her sleepy after half an hour.)

The doll house is one that the Godmother has made herself (choosing wallpaper and putting it herself etc). After looking some up on the net I am actually looking forward to seeing what it looks like (only seen it on a pic).

My family is coming this evening - weather permitting - very exciting!(dad and bro are flying in).

C. calling, gottago,

bunnymother · 23/12/2009 11:02

Morning ladies!!

Delie Delicious is down for her morning nap (her routine, which is great normally, is all out of whack today due to her waking up during the night, then sleeping in - aargh!) so wanted to pop in and say "hello"!!

Once again, and I shouldn't be surprised, we are all going through the same things, based on my very quick shifty...

D is mostly in a routine, and its been fantastic. Really helpful so I can plan my day a bit more. Which now includes exercise to try and get some more energy, regain my former shape. Its been so cold here in London (although prob not as cold as everywhere else) that I've hired a cross trainer machine and use it in the mornings before Delie's nap. Except for this morning... [

D is onto solids, but hasn't been that enthused about the food I have made her (the "I hate mummies carrots" lunch fiasco was a low point) so we are using commercial food. Plum and Hipp Organic being the brands of choice, although the former have added apple to some "savoury" meals and the latter use stock with salt as the main ingredient in some of their meals. So I have to read the ingredients carefully. Am a bit that a brand of baby food would use salt! Now that D is onto stage 2 food think I will make her some more food over the Christmas break. Could not liquify enough for stage 1, plus didn't have confidence after we had early on.

Unsurprisingly, Santa is going to squeeze himself down the chimney w a few toys for D. Specifically the V Tech baby walker (from Amazon - reduced to £20) plus some other stuff from her doting grandparents. Leap Frog activity table to follow in the New Year. She has really outgrown many of her toys - playmat w hanging toys no longer interesting. Oh dear.

Overall D is a v easy baby and mostly sleeps through the night (Ineed - have been watching your Fb posts and hoping Santa brings a sleep cure quickly). So DH and I are about to start trying for no 2. Guffaw away - I must be insane! Wasn't I only pregnant 5 minutes ago?

Better run, so sorry to post and dash, but have LOTS to do today!!! But before I go:

VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL YOU LOVELY LADIES AND YOUR FAMILIES - HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!!

Naat · 23/12/2009 11:33

Morning all,

Bunny, so nice to hear from you! Sounds like D is thriving Hope she likes what Santa brings that any baby food company would use salt but after the cow and gate thing where they found they use some non baby friendly fat in some biscuits they made, I'm not too surprised Courageous Juner but so happy for you and DH that you'll start looking for number 2 Hope you have a lovely Christmas, Bunny!

June, over here it's a wreck! Very icy and otherwise snow is really deep so you can't win I'm stuck since Monday when I went out and regretted it Ohhh looking forward to knowing if you liked the doll house. I clicked on that site and it looks great! Will have a better look later.

Daisy, thanks for that tip! Will look for that next time I'm out F looks gorgeous! And that pic with DD is just lovely We also shopped a bit more for M, we were only getting her a couple of dresses but then felt guilty she wasn't going to have at least one toy so we bought her an activity triangle (she loved the one DH's cousin's DD had (did I write that right?) and some tiny things for bath time. It was not too expensive, though... I also remember getting one, maybe two pressies

Skillbo, I'm definitely waiting for the snow to go away before I star the lessons Oh we can always pretend that "mum" was intentionally directed at you You should actually be quite happy you're not having snow over there as it's causing havoc everywhere although I know it looks nice at this time of the year... Ohhhh not on that your MIL has decided to call J "her baby" but glad to hear DP doesn't like that either, otherwise it'd be a lost cause maybe How's he finding it being at home all day with J (although I know you're still around to help ) Is he getting to learn the whole routine? Ohhhh excited that the Luigi proposal is coming!! ((excited hug))

Bigcar, ohhh hope E's chest clears soon. Do any of the other DC have asthma? You say it runs in the family so I guess you know how to deal with it already, which must be a relief to you. Glad he feels OK and is his normal self... nothing stops Mr. E

Hi to all Juners!

It's quite sunny here but freeeeeeeezing cold. The new flat is warm and cosy so I can't complain, we would have frozen at the previous one

We're getting all the forms ready for our next visa renewal. They're soooo long and I've had to print again some pages as I kept making mistakes And we have to take M to a place to have her passport pic taken. We used the regular booths before, as she was tiny and didn't move much but the otre day we tried the same and it was too funny! She kept moving and none of the pics was deemed suitable I wonder if Jessops take passport pictures? Does anyone know where I could try?

Waves!!!

bunnymother · 23/12/2009 12:50

Naat - hi!! Am feeding D so will be quick. Snappy Snaps do passport photos - that's where D's photos were taken... Good luck!! D needed about 15 takes

Naat · 23/12/2009 13:04

Bunny, as we say back home "genia total!" Thank you so much for that! I've already looked for a store near us and there's one in Leeds, so we'll be there on Saturday Thanks again!! xxx

whenskiesaregrey · 24/12/2009 00:12

grr... i have posted this 3 times now (from my phone, a right PITA!) naat max spielmann do baby passport pics. Where bouts are you, I could tell you your nearest store! I work for their head office!

whenskiesaregrey · 24/12/2009 00:19

hurray that finally posted! For some reason, I really struggle to post from my phone on mumsnet... posts just disappear... Have been reading, but not been able to post recently, as Christmas has taken over! I have so much I want to talk about too... maybe another time! Soo excited it is Christmas Eve tomorrow (or today now!), and I love all this snow! If I dont get chance to post before, I hope you all have lovely Christmases, and take lots of pictures! xxxxxx

MrsMcJnr · 24/12/2009 22:40

Hey ladies never manage to get on here and yet I need to so badly, my spirits have been so low recently. I don't feel very festive at all - sob, not like me at all! I hope you all have a magical Christmas with your new babies and families and friends
