just found out why rusks aren't recommended for such small babies. It got so small that he was shoving the whole thing in his mouth!!! So took it off him, now he's crying!!!!

gossifer · 14/06/2005 10:41

hello everybody
well leons stopped sleeping through the night & is feeding sooooo much i think i'm gonna have to start the whole solids thing soon, not sure how i feel about it! hazelnut - did you use expressed milk or formula with the babyrice?

tipex, so good to hear things going well and all the amazing things happening, when leon rolls he has such a shocked look on his face!
starlover & hazelnut leon has his playnest now & i can leave him & go out of the room, finally!

to be honest with you i hadn't really thought about fathers day, when is it? i guess its special this year, isn't it? will have to scurry of & do something....

hope everyone else is well, xxxxxx

gossifer · 14/06/2005 10:44

starlover, i know what you mean about the hair, mine is his own special toy! (ps - is anyone elses hair falling out?)

starlover · 14/06/2005 10:52

gossifer, you can mix babyrice with breastmilk or formula... or water! but i think it's nicer with milk!

I might steal hazellnuts idea and get dp a photo of Linus

Hazellnut · 14/06/2005 11:22

Anna's not rolling either (and she's the oldest round here not actually being a feb baby !) - I am now putting her on her back and front a lot more to try and get her to do it as we sit her up a lot of the time cos she prefers it....

On the babyrice front, I mix with formula, as that is what Anna has all the time - gave her parsnip again today and was firstly met with the same distain but I mixed it in with some milk and babyrice and she wolfed down the bowlful and a bottle of milk and is now sleeping it off !!!!

Glad leon is enjoying his playnest.... Starlover, the rusk story made me LOL - bless him !!

I had to change him, because he was covered in it! He still has it between his fingers and in his hair. But he fell asleep, so I decided not to disturb him!! LOL

gossifer · 14/06/2005 11:52
Grin
starlover · 14/06/2005 12:40

on a tangent... isn't it odd seeing the threads about trying for a feb baby??????? (or is it just me?)

gossifer · 14/06/2005 12:54

IKWYM!!!!!

starlover · 14/06/2005 13:07

i really want another one... LOL

I never had that trying for a baby thing, because DS was an accident (was on pill)....
When I had him I was adamant that I would never have another... but now I really want one!

gossifer · 14/06/2005 14:03

gosh - linus was the most beautiful accident ever!
i came off the pill and got pregnant the first time we had sex after! talk about fertile! thats why i'm worried i might be again! (well not really worried...) just been to docs for test result but its not in yet, so a waiting game.
now i want at least three please

Angeliz · 14/06/2005 14:15

Hi everyone.
Glad to see you're feeling better Tipex

It's exciting seeing everyone giving food and i bought baby rice and rusks the other day. Haven't given any yet though , it feels a bit sad that the newborn stage is over already doen't it?

Amelia is doing really good, she's full of smiles and her hair is growing daily, she has a little black bob now and all i hear everywhere is "OHHHHHHHH look at that babies hair!".
DD2 is adoring her but we had a right morning!
I am knackered today, ABSOLUTELY shattered and have to go get dd in an hour!
Starlover, i still want another one too!

Tipex, for me the hardest thing about having 2 is not getting a minute to myself just to take a breath! (Mind you, they are both in bed by 8.30 so shouldn't complain!!) I think or maybehope that having another would be easy now!

Hazellnut · 14/06/2005 17:31

Gossifer, you kept that one quiet (or did I miss something ??).... Let us know when the results come in !!

I ideally would like 3 but don't feel like I want to be pregnant soon so by the time I get round to number 2 we might well call it quits ! Have just been to see a friend who is 39 weeks pregnant and I have to say, I don't miss it (not that I ever got to 39 weeks

Angeliz, I know exactly what you mean about being sad the newborn stage is over - its half exciting but also half sad..... my baby is all grown up and eating parsnip (which even her dad won't do !!! )

starlover · 14/06/2005 18:11

ooh gossifer! how would you feel if you were pg again so soon? I would love another one and have a small age-difference... but I also feel like i'd miss out on all the one-to-one time i have with Linus...

angeliz.. i know what you mean about growing up! I keep looking through all the photos and it's just incredible how much he has changed in just 4 months!!!! It seems only a few days ago that we got him, and now he's all big and eating food, and trying to sit up.... it's so cliched, but they really do grow up too fast!!!

starlover · 14/06/2005 19:43

go here to see the rusk carnage

Hazellnut · 14/06/2005 19:45

Hey starlover - have posted a special post for you on the nappies board ..... Well... thought you might have some useful input anyway......

Hazellnut · 14/06/2005 19:45

LOL at rusk carnage !!

My DH loves rusks - I have bought a box for dd but am concerned she won't get a look in !!

have replied!

Angeliz · 14/06/2005 20:16

starlover, he's gorgeous!

I've been staring at the second photo down and he really reminds me of someone but can't get who!! (Not Dermot on that one!)
I'm dying to show off Amelia but am a bit wary to do so. DP doesn't really want me to i don't think and it would ruin my lovely ananymity on here if i were recognised, (which is HIGHLY unlikely as i'm Billy no mates!)

OOOOHHHH i've got it.
That guy from the X-files (David Dechovney(?) ).
Look at his little lips!
Handsome wee devil!

Angeliz · 14/06/2005 20:23

Glad i got that as it would have bugged me all night!

futurity · 14/06/2005 20:54

You are so right Angeliz...just looked at the photo and agree that he looks like Xfiles bloke!

fruitful · 14/06/2005 21:01

Ds is 17 weeks (or 11; he was premature). He's just starting to bat toys on the babygym; I think he'll work out how to hold things soon. Because he was born early I'm getting more of the tiny baby phase!

He's bottle-fed (which is bliss actually compared to bf'ing dd for 45min every 2hrs round the clock ). Wakes at 10:30, 3:30 and 6:30 which I can live with. Naps randomly in the day which is fine as I'm carting him around as I take dd to nursery etc. And he is fairly happy when awake - he has a 3yo to entertain him. Wish I'd had one of those for dd! Not even thinking about weaning - I'm going to put off all that faffing about with a blender for as long as possible. You know in the '30s they didn't wean until 8 months? He can have food when he can grab it out of my hands

I'm a bit sad about the lack of attention he gets tho - I remember spending ages playing with dd, taking photos, taking her out places, just gazing at her. Ds's face just lights up whenever I stop and talk to him but there are whole days when it feels like I just feed and change him and move him around like a parcel. It feels like there is not enough mummy to share between two children. Especially this week as dd has been throwing up - two sicky children is just not on!

All this pg talk makes me a bit sad as I've been advised not to get pg again - not that I'd want to yet. But I look at ds and think he might be (probably will be) my last baby .

futurity · 14/06/2005 21:02

Days like this I don't enjoy breastfeeding...I have just stopped feeding at 8.45..I started at 6.30! 2 hours and 15 minutes of feed, feed, feed!! Since started weaning I had forgotten about the joy that is the growth spurt but he is definitely having one..hope he doesn't wake tonight!
