started with baby rice. then have been trying pureed carrot, broccoli, green beans, baby corn. In evenings he has a rusk mashed up in milk.

Tried banana but he sicked it all back up!

gossifer · 09/06/2005 22:14

ooooooh what fun starlover! is he sleeping better at night now?

tipex - i forgot to say leon is rolling, he does front to back and trys to do back to front and cannot and gets all upst!

starlover · 09/06/2005 22:15

yeah, much better at night!

he is TRYING to roll... from back to front.. but gets stuck on his arm.. LOL

gossifer · 09/06/2005 22:20

that's it exactly! poor thing gets himself in such a pickle about it has made me realise that i cannot just nleave him in some places like i used to though

starlover · 09/06/2005 22:25

same here! used to leave him on the sofa... but can't any more

Hazellnut · 09/06/2005 22:26

No rolling here - DD gets sooo upset when put on her tummy but I try it for a bit every day. She is almost sitting unaided - she can do it for a few seconds before nose diving (thankfully she has a play nest which is great for sitting practice !)....

Think I am going to try baby rice when DH next has some time off so he can watch !!

starlover · 09/06/2005 22:28

Linus doesn't mind being on his tummy, but he won't stay like it for tooo long... think he gets tired from holding his head up

gossifer · 09/06/2005 22:29

hazelnut, when i started putting leon on his tummy i put him on the bed so i could crouch down on the floor and my face was level with his, found it helped; amazing about the sitting up, what's a babynest?

gossifer · 09/06/2005 22:30

sorry, i meant play nest?

starlover · 09/06/2005 22:33

it's one of these

like a big doughnut to sit them in!

gossifer · 09/06/2005 22:38

oooh, i think a friend has offered to lend us one of them, must find out tomorrow, leon just loves it when i hold him sitting up, his eyes are everywhere - wow, there's the world, sooo cute! thanks starlover

Hazellnut · 09/06/2005 22:43

Thats the thing although you can buy just the nest if you already have the gym bit like this me being clever with links too

They're quite good as dd can lounge and relax in it or practise sitting and wobble over without coming to any harm. Have just bought a bumbo too (cos she looked so cute in it when I tried it out and she seems to like that too....

gossifer · 09/06/2005 22:44

gosh, am really gonna have to figure out how to do this link thingy oneday, you're all so smooth

Hazellnut · 10/06/2005 09:05

Right - today's the day, have just sterilised bowl and spoon so a bit later am going to try baby rice with dd ......... Anyone think its a bit sad as its your little one growing up ??? I never really thought I'd be that way !!

OP posts:
starlover · 10/06/2005 16:46

how did it go hazellnut?

Hazellnut · 10/06/2005 19:49

V. well thanks - I just tried baby rice and she seemed to like it - handled the spoon quite well (well obviously not handled...) !! Got all excited and went out and bought a food processor and apples and parsnip and going to make some up and freeze. How long did you use baby rice for before going on to veg ??

OP posts:
starlover · 10/06/2005 21:32

one day LOL! but I sometimes mix a bit with the veg to bulk it out a bit.
Or sometimes if I haven't bothered to do fruit/veg I give it to him.

Hazellnut · 12/06/2005 18:40

Hello all !

Well we've had 3 days of babyrice, each day getting a little thicker and it has gone down well so tomorrow am going to move on to parsnip and see how that goes down ! !

hello mummies,

wow, food sounds exciting, roo is still just having milk - but i can't wait to see the look on his face when he gets his first taste of proper food!
has bumps on his gums, so think something toothwise is happening, also quite narky & miserable last wk or so, prob also abt teeth i think.
what are you getting dads for their first father's day?? anyone got any good ideas???
dh just asked for a 50 £ note - "to make it a special father's day" - men!

Glad to hear things are a bit better Tipex - on the good days, you remember why you did it !! at your antenatal chum preggers again ... I get shocked when I hear my antenatal chums saying they want to be pregnant again by next year !!

I tried Anna with parsnip today and it was met with a bit of disgust tbh !! She did take some after the initial shock of flavour but am going to try it again tomorrow to see if the shock has worn off !!

Went to see a friend today with a 4 week old and it makes you realise just how far you have come ....

On the father's day front - Have got a book for dh and also plan to get a photo frame and put a piccie of Anna in it for him to take to work so he remembers her !!

hiya tipex - so to hear things are on the up with you! it's lovely to hear abt your LO developing...think roo must be the only one not rolling atm, tho i think it might be due to him being huge & heavy! slept SO well last night - from 10 til 7 - so i feel almost human today! woke to find him on his side twirling the bars on his cot & saying "oh, oh" (to the bars? who knows?!).
he's asleep & has just signed his father's day card with blue paint on his foot - looks quite good too. now trying to remove blue paint in case dh notices later! (tho sometimes think he wouldn't notice if i painted the whole baby blue...!)
have good times all.

tipex.. am SO glad to hear that things are seeming a bit better now. You definitely should go to baby group. There is a lady who comes to our group whose little girl Amy screams the whole time!!! But the babies all make so much noise anyway that no-one really notices. I often sit and chat to her over the screaming! LOL

I am tempted to not get anything for DP for father's day because he didn't get anything for me for mother's day... despite frequent reminders from various people!!! Although, maybe I should, and then jhe'll feel guilty! LOL

roosmum... Linus isn't rolling either. I think
it's because of his big nappy. When he is naked he rolls onto his side, but can't get all the way over.

Linus is sat next to me, getting in a HUGE mess with a rusk. They say not to give them til 6 months unless they;re mashed with milk. But I was eating toast and he kept looking at it and crying!!! So, gave him one and he's sucking on it and looking very happy!!!
He has got pear for lunch today. Haven't tried it before, but hopefully he'll like it!

Agree that they seem to learn so much so quickly. It's like evrey day he figures out something new. Has taken to moving around in his cot. So i am finding him in the morning the wrong way round, or up the other end of the cot, or with legs sticking out the side!!!
He has also taken to grabbing my hair whenever I go near him!!!!
