Oh no, has LLL got it too? I've got it and feel awful - Rhydian came home from school today and I think he's come down with it too - temp. of 39.3 () headache, achy ... let's just hope M doesn't get it - hopefully the fact that she's still BF will get the antibodies into her ...

Happy Birthday to all those I've missed - Rhydian had his 7th on Sunday, and we had a treat - we took him and 9 of his friends to the mueum then to Pizza Express, and I made a volcano cake ... a great success - I was feeling utterly lousy, so I hope I didn't infect all the children!

Waiting for a call back from the doc about Rhydian - he shouldn't need the Tamiflu, as he's not asthmatic!

FloriaTosca · 06/10/2009 22:46

Bu!$r dan and blast!......obviously too much in a rush and too tired after yet another disturbed night with Alex and the ridiculously early start with Dh(and/or obviously still baby zombied brained) I thought knew it was Crochet that had posted on FB, can't understand why I wrote LLL[hangs head in shame and despair at self].... Soooo sorry Crochet, I knew it was you who had posted on FB, I do hope you have the mild, quickly over, version of it that my friends are reporting (and hope neither R nor M or any of the kids at Rs party contract it)Get better soon....and LLL sorry to land you with the big red X on your door, I sincerely hope you dont get it at all.

Dal; I got Dh the Sony Video Walkman he wanted (so he can watch films when his travel agent has managed to rent him a poxy hotel in Eastern Europe without satelite TV)The funeral was ..ok.. I suppose ... I was fine until they asked us all to sing "we'll meet again"...Uncle Roy had sung it to Aunty Adrienne as he lay dying in hospital...and I suddenly got a vision of the 3 of them (Dad, Roy and Bart)coming in from the local on a Friday night to finish the night off with fried egg butties and singing this song as they went home to their own beds... I turned into a water spout...but I suppose it is only natural..the three of them have died one after the other '07,'08 and '09, and all 3 were cremated at the same place with humanist ceremonies, Barts daughters were in the same state as me but I did feel a fool...I held it together a lot better 2 yrs ago
What is truly dreadful is that when I got home Mil informed me that Dhs aunt (her sil) had lost her 2 yr battle with cancer this afternoon ...she was diagnosed shortly after her husband (mils brother) dropped dead while out training for his next marathon ...(that happened just a month after my Dads funeral...I remember it so clearly because I was 12 wks pg with Alex at Dads funeral and 16wks at Davids)...their poor sons have lost both parents in 2 short years....and so we will have another funeral to attend ....
...it never rains but it pours, eh?

I do hope some one has more cheery news than me to impart today...please???

Hey Floria,

Sounds like a great present you've got dh, it'll keep him occupied when he's bored out of his skull and would rather be home with you

I got dh a new winter coat, we got each other things we need this year cause not much money. He's already wearing it but i'll be getting him little surprises for xmas day. He got me some winter boots

Sorry you've had such an emotional day and then further bad news. Life can be so sad and unfair sometimes . I suppose the one positive is that your dad and his 2 friends will be together having a lovely time now (that's what I believe anyway, don't mean to impose my 'beliefs').

I don't have any exciting or cheery news i'm afraid, I got a new mobile today as Dylan chucked myold one so many times the front cover wouldn't stay on and the screen was hanging out . Anyway, i'm suitably impressed and in love with my new gadget

herjazz · 07/10/2009 00:07

FT - Glad the funeral went as well as these things can. Sounds v moving. Very sorry you came back to more terrible news

this should make you laugh

I thought it would be NICE if I photoshopped ds's head onto number 2 edward engine for his birthday card. Beings he is so obsessed with thomas and loves being called really useful It looked really cool in my head. Not like the uugghhh bizarre bordering on scary it turned out

Alas haven't used it. I think he would find it rather scary and unpleasant

crochet - hope the plague passes by yr house v quickly. Good health vibes from me

big wave to everyone else

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 07/10/2009 07:19

FT - ((hugs)) - the funeral sounds lovely - not surprised there were no dry eyes. Sorry for you losing somebody else as well - it's hard when these things happen so close together. Wow at the living room makeover - bet you can't wait for the carpet to arrive. Good news on the weight loss.

NC - glad the party went well - think you were very restrained alcohol-wise.

Inzi - hope Jane settles down soon and you can get some sleep.

Dal - awww at feeling baby kicks. New phones are lovely aren't they? Mine arrived yesterday - I've had to get a new one as the bluetooth on my old one won't work with the new car's handsfree thing. Not had time to do anything other than charge the battery yet!

Crochet - hope the swine flu passes soon.

HerJazz - at the train image - that is truely weird.

Anya's having a lie-in today (as she should on her birthday ) - we've got her a toy kitchen (2 hours to put together last night ) and some arts stuff - have managed not to go completely overboard this year! We're going out plane-spotting at the airport this morning (sounds like a strange choice but she is obsessed with planes/lorries/trains etc) then out for lunch, then my parents and sister are coming round for a birthday tea. Her party for her friends is on Sunday so we get a breather in between .

skinsl · 07/10/2009 07:40

Can I join? DS nearly 2 and I am exhausted with the tantrums, but equally delighted with his development and general loveliness.

Morning ladies,

Welcome skinsl of course you can join, we're a friendly bunch, you can post as much or as little as you like but will always be welcome.

Happy 2nd Birthday* Anya

Sounds like you've got a lovely day planned for her wwajc

herjazz - That pic is hilarous and a little scary LOL

Hi to everyone else x

FloriaTosca · 07/10/2009 09:00

Welcome Skinsl we are always happy to meet new comers. Just jump in and make yourself at home...we have all known each other for quite a while now as most of us met on our pregnacy thread but I think we are a lovely, supportive, non-judgmental group and if you keep adding you two penn'orth you'll soon feel like part of the furniture (sorry for all the mixed metaphors but I'm sure you know what I mean)I'm Floria or FT and have 1 Ds, Alex, who was 2 on Sept 26th (he was due on Oct 5th and I wasn't going to change groups for 6 days)...totally agree with you that the tantrums are exhausting but more than balanced out by the general lovliness...Alexs' latest is to tap his finger against his temple saying "thinking" when offered a choice of food, occupation or tv programme...sooo cute.

Herjazz; thanks for the laugh...it was needed. Sometimes these things work and sometimes they are just wrong perhaps you should try again with a different picture?

Dal; Sometimes you just have to be practical when it comes to Christmas...when we moved here at the end of Nov. '06 we bought ourselves a joint Christmas pressie of the cooker...not exactly exciting but necessary and after the move there was no money for anything else...and you have a new mobile too! (always exciting)...and dont worry about "imposing beliefs" at all, in fact it was the sudden vivid image of the three of them "meet(ing) again" that set me off yesterday

Quieter day here today, thank heavens. But I've just got phone call from Mil, she is exhausted and can't face babysitting while I teach tonight... what joy... I now have to find someone else....

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 10:29

Oh yeah I forgot to instroduce myself to skinsl properly... I have 1 ds, Dylan who's 2 on 30th Oct. Dylan is currently obsessed with carrying socks around, he even made me take mine off this morning so he could have them . As Floria says, we've all known each other for a while but there have been newbies that have joined us along the way and there's always room for more

Floria - Well yes, we have to be practical for xmas but i'm not complaining, tbh, even if we had more money there's not a thing I need that I don't already have... Of course, the new mobile is very exciting, I have my lovely dh to thank fpr it who's been working extra hours at weekends doing plumbing work with his dad .

Good luck in finding someone to watch Alex later on...

skinsl · 07/10/2009 10:55

You two both made me laugh already!

Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 10:56
Grin
Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 12:01

I've added new pics

NeedCoffee · 07/10/2009 15:13

Happy Birthday Anya!!
Hope you enjoy the plane spotting

Herjazz-that pic made me LOL!

FT-So sorry for everything you are going through, must be exhausting and so very sad for you, am thinking of you.
Hope you get sorted for tonight with a baby sitter.
Crochet-Big Hugs!(obviously with a face mask on though!) But seriously, I hope it is very mild for you and you recover ASAP.

Dal-What phone d'ya get? I'm wanting a new contract one as mine is knackard, doing a bit of shopping about atm as phones4U are being dickheads not trying very hard to keep my custom arrogant twatheads! or give me what I require so think I'm going to go with the very nice sexybloke in the more independent phone shop in town.

Hi Skins, I have Shannon 5/10/07 and DD1 who's 9, getting very little sleep at the moment and am very grumpy constantly Hope you'll be happy with us, we are the best group around!

Shannon refuses to go in her pram or a trolley at the moment so have been struggling to do, well, anything at the moment-anyway she was holding my hand, fell over, but slipped out my hand, kind of turned and banged her head on the concrete outside of Morrisons today whilst I was carrying heavy bags, she cried a lot but can't find a bump, she then fell asleep in the car and was quite sleepy for a bit afterwards, was a bit worried but she seems fine now!

Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 15:19

NC - I used to work for one of the mobile networks, my advice is steer clear of phones 4 u or any other shop like that. Decide what network you want to be with and go direct to that shop eg: the O2 shop, Orange shop etc. You'll always get a better deal than phones 4 u can give you if you go direct and usually if you decide what you want then do it through the networks website you'll get even more mins/texts!

I got the sony eric T700 Rouge, it's the best phone i've had in ages, sony erics are my fav

NeedCoffee · 07/10/2009 18:04

its the sony eric w995 that I want very posh it is, the thing is I wont get bought out of my contract if I go direct..

Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 19:13

Ah yeah, they offer that don't they...
Are you at a point in your contract where you can change to a cheaper talkplan or to early yet? Some companies only let you go down by one price plan at a time anyway and not straight to the cheapest so that might not be possible . Off to nosey at the phone

Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 19:19

Ah that looks very nice indeed, good camera too!
This is the one i've got, not as high speck as yours but all I need. It's thr red and gold one

NeedCoffee · 07/10/2009 19:19

yeah I've gone down from £35 to £30 this month, then can go down another fiver next month, then contract finishes in Dec, I want the silver one but according to thge Phones4U guy, the silver one isn't very much sought after ho hum, that'll be why its more expensive than the black one then toss pot

NeedCoffee · 07/10/2009 19:21

oooh very dudey, I know I'm going to be tied in for at least 18 months thats why I'm pushing for the latest one, otherwise I may have gone for the model below.

Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 19:22

Ah so you've not got long left on contract anyway then! I know every penny counts but check out what deals you can get direct anyway just to see...

Phones 4 U are total lizards, they'll say anything to get a sale!

Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 19:26

No, you've chosen a nice one, I would go for the best too if I wasn't buying the handset. I've got a really good deal on a sim only arrangement so I just buy a new phone when I need at the mo. Otherwise i'd probably be getting something like the one you are. I used to be obsessed by having the latest phone, Dylan is too dangerous to have around a nice phone anyway the little monkey. He put dh's in Tess's water bowl a while ago...

NeedCoffee · 07/10/2009 19:29

Oh dear, little monkey, Shannon opened my laptop earlier and tried to type the password in, needless to say she got it wrong! If my crappy falling apart phone will last a bit longer then I may as well wait, its just that it keeps freezing when I'm texting.

Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 19:31

Oh dear, they're so cheeky! What kind of phone you got?

Dalrymps · 07/10/2009 19:35

Got to pop out, tell us what phone it is and when we're back well see if we can advise you how to fix the prob to keep your phone going a bi longer (dh and I both worked in handset faults). Back later x
