I'm OK Dal, Rich isn't coming tonight, He really pi**ed me off last night over some things so I told him not to, Could have done with him to just take over with Shannon for an hour though, she has been so badly behaved, I really am at the end of my tether with her, she's meant to be in bed, but she keeps getting out and taking her nappy off and messing with her toys. I just want to rest for half an hour They where nice enough at the hospital, didn't offer any counselling but they said yesterday that its available on request Just can't wait to get Friday out of the way, think its going to be worse then. Thank you for the hugs, much needed

Dalrymps · 09/09/2009 21:18

Poor you, you could do with a rest now more than ever, wish I was closer so I could take over for you... Sure you and Rich will make up, it's a stressful time for you both. The lo's always play up just when it's most inconvienient don't they?! I would take the counselling if you feel like it, your choice though. Hope you at least get a good nights sleep x x x

I really must get round to posting more often. I check in and read most days but don't seem to have the time or quiet to be able to post back and then some days it moves so fast I think I will reply later but then forget and more people post and its a vicious circle

I have actually got up at 6.30 this morning in the hope the boys will give me half an hours grace to be able to post

NC - Thinking of you over the weekend, I finally caught up on what was going on and I'm so sorry you have had to go through this, what a hard decision to make but totally understand the one you have made. I had a little scare last week and would have made the same decision if needed.

Good luck with stopping smoking again, and well done for going back to college, I don't know how you do it. I can't imagine having to fit a proper job into my daily routine now.

(bugger, just heard Ben )

Inzi - great pictures, you look gorgeous, you must be so proud of yourself I am hitting the diet and exercise hard at the moment. I have a Black Tie Dinner in November and a fab dress that I bought on Saturday. It fits but would look so much nicer if I was a few pound lighter and more toned. Looking through my holiday pics yesterday shows that I still look too chunky in photos for me to be happy so I NEEDED to get my arse in gear

Regarding sleeping (nap times) patterns, we are not in a very strict one but Ben tends to go to bed anywhere between 7-8, most of the time he then sleeps till 7 ish, but the last week since we got back from hols he has been waking a couple of times in the night again and initially waking about 5.30, but luckily I manage to settle him back off quickly enough. He will then have a sleep in the day but it varies. some days he goes down before lunch at about 11ish, other days its after lunch at 1ish. If he misses the morning nap he is usually dead on his feet by 1.30. So I am still embracing his naps at the moment, sometimes he will have as much as 3 hours and still sleep at night

We are buying him a big boys bed for his birthday and a new theme, he is so into his cars and emergency vehicles at the mo, so that is the route we are going

FT - What a pain in the arse this weather has been, must be so frustrating regards the garden. Weather this morning has said that we are in for a good 10 days though so hopefully you can get it finished.

WWAJC - glad you are enjoying your new job

TLES - sorry you have been going through the mill lately but its sounding really positive with Karl at school at the moment, you must be so proud. Hope Zachary is better after his sickness. Can't believe what a big boy he is! Measured Ben yesterday he is 87cm which is 3cm taller than Sam at the same age

Stefka - I hope you sort Dareh and the sleep out soon. We took a tough line with Ben when we put him in his bed and for the most part a week or so of toughness has sorted him out and means we can sleep too.

Dal - Sorry you are suffering with this pregnancy, but just remember its only for another 6 months and any problems with DH are going to be intensified because of your hormones and tiredness and sickness. I'm glad you are able to express yourself on here though and to get reassurance if you need it, I just love you ladies and really must make the time to keep in touch more.

I can't remember what anyone else has said, I hope I haven't missed anything major.

Muppet - Hope all is going well with your brood, you must be being kept so busy, I really don't think I could cope with four!

I have been sorting through my holiday photos and will post them up to facebook today if anyone fancied a look
Ben was a star on holiday, he and Sam slept in the same room with Ben on a mattress on the floor and it was great. Ben got up a few times and came into us but was soon settled back into bed and in the morning they just woke up and quietly played together in Sams bed, it was so cute

Ben has also taken to the water big time, he loved it and was even jumping in off the side on the second week putting Sam to shame.

Also proud mummy on sunday, Ben said his first sentence 'Mummy made my toast' very clearly. He's not said it since but I have a witness that he really said it His manner are really good too, most of the time saying please and thank you without prompting.

Oops my time has run out 7.10 and Ben is up and being demanding so am going to leave it here before he presses something and I lose 40 mins of typing

Have a good day ladies xx

Dalrymps · 10/09/2009 09:06

Morning ladies

LLL - Great to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing those holiday pics! Wow at Ben's first sentece, we've only had 2 words together so far like 'in there'. Good that he's saying please and thankyou too, Dylan does this sometimes

Nice sunny morning here, the nights are rapidly getting darker, i'm stupidly excited about xmas this year for some reason

NC - How are you this morning? How did you sleep? Shannon behaving?

FloriaTosca · 10/09/2009 09:50

NC; I hope you are ok today ...having been through the procedure a couple of times for different reasons I think you have chosen the right route even if it does take a bit longer. I hope the girls make life a little easier for you today and you and Rich can try to be a little more gentle with each other, it is a difficult time for you both (though worse for you obviously)(((hugs))) to you all.

Dal; you are sounding brighter this morning...enjoy the good weather.

LLL; good to hear you have had such a good time and the boys were so good on holiday...looking forward to seeing the pics.Good luck with the tighten and toning...I have been on SW for 4 weeks and lost 10lb...(40lb still to go before toning would make any difference)You are right about the break in the weather...the plan is to take advantage this weekend and finish rotovating, raking and rolling (and finish taking down the trees now Dh has bought a replacement chainsaw after breaking the original one half way through the task)and Dh is taking 3 days off next week to lay the turf...of course now I have said that the gods will send snow!

Muppet says (on FB)she will be back soon just, understandably, busy with 3.

Love Bens first sentance...I'm continually amazed at how quickly they pick things up now.. I sent Alex play in his room this morning as he wanted to get up at 6am after a bad night that he spent in my bed...he came back into my room at 7.00 saying "oh, no! Mummy gone!" (I had rolled onto absent Dhs side)he then walked round to find me saying "Ah! there you are!"

Our latest is Alex has finally started removing his own trousers to use the potty, though he'd really rather not wear any at all and refuses to put them back on himself ..and we stopped putting a training nappy on him at night last week (Dh felt that the occasions it was wet was because he'could' iyswim)7nights of no accidents so far (of course that means he's bound to have one tonight)

NeedCoffee · 10/09/2009 10:34

ah how lovely to come on and to have a few posts to respond to

LLL-Lovely to 'have' you back, can't believe you got up early to catch up on here, awwww at the boys playing in a morning, so cute. And well done Ben for speaking in sentences, Shannon says stuff with please on the end and phrases like 'brush my teeth' but they all come out as one long word usually

Dal-I'm excited about christmas too! The kids are going to understand more this year, will be fab.

FT-am hoping the weather stays good for you to get your garden completed, wow at alex having no nappy on a night, Shannon keeps taking hers off on a night but then going back to sleep and wetting the bed

Have got quite bad vomiting this morning and still got slight cramps, I think its the waiting around thats the worst, would love to just lay on the couch or in bed but Shannon wont allow it, She has been playing outside, squeaking down the slide with her bare bum as she refuses to have any bottoms on but now she has come in demanding Wonder Pets, She's obsessed with that now, she's trying to reach the remote off the table, thinks she can do it herself Its a lovely day, She should really be outside but I suspect I'll give in soon for an easy life.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY INZI

Hope you have a lovely day

LisaLessLumpy · 10/09/2009 17:45

What a lovely day, stuck indoors whilst Ben has been throwing up. 4pm all was suddenly well, he has now eaten and is playing outside on his bike.

hello everyone
just coming by to say hi, and
happy birthday to inzi
hugs to NC
well done on Karl's school achievements to TLES
good luck with the turfing and well done on the weight loss to Floria
glad you had nice hols to LLL
and hello to alicet, dal and stefka and anyone else i've not mentioned

nothing exciting to report from the strawberry household. DS will now sit on his potty for a story before his bath, so that's one step along the way. I need some time off work to actually spend proper time with him to move on. His going to sleep is still as bad - thanks for the tips, i have decided not to do anything until i am feeling less stressed with work, and that's not looking like any time soon

hope you all have nice weekends xx

FloriaTosca · 10/09/2009 21:02

I sang Hippo bird day to you Inzi on FB...glad you have had a lovely day, bought out primarni and are suitably possed

Strawberry; well done on the potty training, you have done well managing that first step while working.. you working mums have all my admiration, I'm so lucky being at home it makes things like that much easier ..

Can anyone tell me what the going rate is for teenage babysitters these days? Dh kindly informed me last night that he doesnt get back from Germany until 7pm tomorrow night (he is normally home at 3.30 on a Fri and picks Alex up from mils on his way home)and to ask his mum to babysit for the evening teaching session as well the afternoon .... but it turns out that Mil and Fil are going away for the weekend and before I could ask them they asked if Dh could pick Alex up any earlier so they could get on their way at 3.00 ... my Mum has just sat with him for 2.5 hrs tonight and is utterly knackered (her rheumatoid arthritis is flaring badly atm and driving 25 miles here and back and coping with a toddler isn't helping)so I have asked one of my pupils to sit with him (nice 17yr old girl, with young siblings, who Alex has met before)but haven't a clue as to how much to offer...

Happy birthday inzi and hope you are enjoying being possed !

Another quickie sorry ladies - Floria we pay our babysitters £6 an hour but they are girls from the nursery that the boys go to who are all first aid trained and CRB checked. not sure if it's cheaper for a teenager without experience so don't know if that helps or not!

Hello hello to everyone else (esp you needcoffee - hope you're ok) but I am afraid my bed is calling me more than catching up with you lot. i will try to do better this weekend x

LisaLessLumpy · 11/09/2009 07:37

FT, I would say £5 an hour is more than fair. I pay ours £7 an hour but like Alice, she is one of Sam's teachers from Kindergarten and she does look after both of them.

Inzi - Glad you had a suitably great birthday

NC - How are you feeling? Good Luck for today x

Strawberry - Hope you are less stressed at work soon and get the sleep sorted before he goes to school ;)

FloriaTosca · 11/09/2009 09:16

Thanks for the advice Alice and Lisa.. she isnt going to be doing more than play with him in the living room for up to 2 hours (5-7), not left in sole charge... I'll be just at the other end of the hallway...and Dh is hoping to get home at 6ish...

NC; hope it goes as well as can be expected today.

Lots to do today, house polish for Dhs return(I'm pathetic I know)Shopping, Bounce&Rhyme and dog walk before lunch...
have a good day ladies

oh and if I'm not around this weekend you know I'm in the garden!

Just popping in to say

NC - Hope it goes 'ok' today, thinking of you x

NeedCoffee · 11/09/2009 18:50

thanks girls, am home now with hot water bottle, was really unpleasant and there for longer than expected but its over with now.

love to all xx

strawberrylace · 11/09/2009 19:31

NC - glad you've gotten through that bit (hugs)
Floria - a bit late, but we pay a teenage daughter (17) of a friend £5 an hour (more if it's after midnight) for babysitting, which appears to be the going rate round here. She isn't trained of course, but babysits for lots of people and is great with kids. Olly loves her - he gets her to do all sorts of things with him which he claims are ok (I know, he's only 23 months, but he so does!) like eating chocolate biscuits from the snack cupboard and getting his duvet downstairs so they can cuddle up on the sofa and watch movies!

So pleased it is the weekend - pizza on the way - (waves to everyone)

Dalrymps · 11/09/2009 21:15

Sorry it was so unpleasant NC, as you say at least that bit's over with. ((big hugs)) to you, take care and rest x

over a week since I last posted. Sorry to everybody for missing important things.

NC - so sorry I missed you last week - at least it is all over now, sorry it was tough. Hope you're feeling better now and that you managed to get plenty of rest over the weekend.

Dal - new car is a Mazda 3 - just a family hatchback but it's got lots of lovely gadgets. I need a new mobile now though because mine has an old version of bluetooth on it and I can't make calls using the car's bluetooth. It does need a new bonnet - it turns out the paint was defective and had marks embedded in it.

NC - phenergan is what the gp has said she will prescribe to Anya for carsickness (fb'd you earlier). Didn't realise it had such a powerful sedative effect! Not sure what to do now as no point in her being asleep all day if we're going somewhere. Maybe it will be a lower dosage...

Inzi - wedding anniversary sounds wonderful - very romantic. Glad your weight is stable and you're not struggling at all to keep it off - you sound so happy with it . Sorry missed your birthday - sounds like you had a lovely day.

Dal - glad Dylan enjoyed swimming - at 'bath'. Am sure you have nothing to worry about with dh and fb - otherwise he wouldn't have said anything.

LES - glad Zachary is better. Well done to Karl getting off to such a good start at school.

LLL - glad you had a good time on hols.

FT - aww at Alex's comments when you moved in bed. Wow at him being dry at night too. Well done on your weight loss.
