Muppet; how utterly dreadful of the rescue society. I have just googled this I wonder if it could be of any help..or any other JR rescue society? Are you in contact with his breeder? Would they take him back? I will ask at my dog club on Sunday if anyone knows of someone who can offer a home.

muppetgirl · 08/01/2010 20:48

Thanks Floria that's something else we can try x

Stan's breeder doesn't want him back as our friends said (they are very good friends with Stan's breeder) he said 'why would we want a dog that is aggressive towards children and wees in his bed?' I can't blame him really!

Yes we were very surprised by the rescue centre they could have assessed Stan when I first made contact rather than have us on a waiting list thinking we had a solution. I just can't put him down as I don't believe he's really that bad. I've not got my head in the clouds he's a fab little dog, just hates Henry I have a picture on my profile x

muppetgirl · 08/01/2010 21:23

Have just placed an ad Floria -have a look at 'Stan' and just sent an email to a woman in Oxon looking for a Jack.
xxx

FloriaTosca · 08/01/2010 22:59

So glad to have been some help...I hope he gets the perfect new home soon.
I'm shocked at his breeder, it is generally considered, in the dog fraternity, that if you breed a litter you have a responsibility towards them for life...I bred my Dobes back in '89, the owners all signed a contract to say if for any reason they could no longer keep their dog it had to be returned to me...I kept in close contact with them all until '03 when the last one died at almost 14.
Lets hope the woman in Oxon is just what Stan needs.

Just popping in to say hi so I don't lose you all.

Inzi-condolences and best wishes for the funeral. I'm sure you will give him a beautiful send off, and how lovely that you felt him whilst dancing. I'm sure he will be watching over Jane Hope the MS clears up soon.

Dal-hope all is well with fil.

Muppet-What idiots, couldn't they have assesed him 5 weeks ago! Hope you get him sorted, its such a shame for you.

Choc-so glad the bf withdrawel went ok, FT-keeping my fingers crossed for success with your too.

Hi toeveryone else, sorry not done personal messages to everyone. Assignments due in Tue and been desperately trying to complete them, I think the thing with me is I can't condense things, I have to explain them in full. On one of them I have got over 9000 words, when we're only meant to have 3000 Luckily I'll be able to put a good chunk of it in the appendix, good job as I haven't finished that one yet, but mostly have the other 3.
Shannon thought'd be fun to be sick in her chest of drawers last night, so that was a big clear up operation. My fault for taking her to DD1s grandmas for the day while I got some work done and so she was fed lots of crap junk food.

Oh and my nephew was born on Wed evening, 7.10 after quite a difficult labour of course! Not met him yet, they're still in hospital, and I thought I may as well let everyone else do visits and I'll go when I've finished assignments or for a short while over weekend, but I'm sure they'll be sick of people. Anyway off to bed so I wake up nice and refreshed to get on with work tomorrow while Shannon has another Dora day.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 09/01/2010 18:52

Dal - glad your fil is comfortable - nightmare that you can't get to see him though, sending thawing thoughts for you. Glad you've been able to talk to him.

FT - how's the plan going to stop bf at night? Is Alex cooperating?

Muppet - at the kennels and RSPCA not taking Stan - it's not as though he's attacked anybody, surely with the right environment he would settle down. What an awful situation for you to be in - I hope you can find somewhere suitable for him. Fingers crossed for the Oxon lady.

Inzi - hope the funeral went smoothly today and that your grandad had a wonderful send off.

NC - well done to you getting your assignments (almost) finished. Poor Shannon - that's a very inventive place to throw up! Hope there weren't too many clothes in there at the time. Congratulations on your nephew arriving safely.

Well we are forecast yet more snow tomorrow/Monday - I wish I was 6 years old again, I would have appreciated it much more then rather than now just thinking of how inconvenient it is .

alicet · 09/01/2010 21:49

hello all...

Inzi hope all went well today... Missed your last post that said funeral was today but thinking of you all xxx Also think that grandad is in the stars is a lovely way of putting it to a toddler - will remember that one x

Dal really sorry to hear about fil. If you want to email me for advice (or text / call) feel free. I work at Wansbeck hospital so may be able to find out some info when I am in on Monday although I would only be able to if i could go and ask him if he was happy for me to talk to his docs and pass it on for patient confidentiality. Will try if you like although i am on call on mon so may not get a chance depending on how busy it is. Must be awful not being able to get there - it took me an hour and a half to get to work on Wed when it is normally a 15-20 min journey! Thinking of you xxx

Needcoffee fingers crossed all goes well with assignments and congrats on becoming an aunty!

Muppet really sorry to hear about all the mess up with Stan. Agree totally that they should have assessed him and told you this upfront. Fingers crossed you can find another solution xxx

hello everyone else - sorry my brain is mush and i can't remember all of your other news...

Well yesterday was 7 years since dh and I met! He was out last night with work but we have had a lovely meal this evening (I threw together a load of tapas based on what we had in cupboards / fridge / freezer as getting out of our estate is pretty fraught due to snow and ice!) and had a bottle of bubbly. Lovely evening but early doors as dh shattered as am I - will be off to bed shortly after posting here!

Dalrymps · 09/01/2010 22:10

Hi everyone,

Wow alicet, that's a really kind offer . If you can manage on monday then we'd really appreciate it, not getting much info at this end so anything's a bonus. I understand you might not have time though...

Spoke to him tonight, he's on iv antibiotics and I think morphine If you do find anything out could you text me? You need any info to locate him? He's just been moved today, his name is same as my dh, Alistair Dalrymple...

Inzi - Hope everything went ok today and you were able to say your goodbyes. He's at peace now..

WWAJC - Know what you mean about the snow, it looks so pretty but I need to get places!

NC - Hope you get your assignments done on time, I used to have the opposite problem when at uni, to few words! Better to have to shorten it than think of more

Muppet - Any luck woth Stan yet? Awful to be stuck for a sollution, hope someone lovley gives him a home soon.

Feeling excited about meeting the new baby today , 8 weeks to go now.. We're pretty sure we're gonna call him Miles, just trying to pick a middle name now... I am suffering from restless legs and insomnia so can't wait for that to be over. I actually think I'd rather be woken by a new born than lying awake in the night for no reason at all... i'll probably regret ever saying that in 8 or so weeks time!

muppetgirl · 10/01/2010 08:39

Hi all

Inzi - am hoping yesterday went as well as it could have. I hope it was a day of remembering your lovely Grandad xx

Alice - that's so lovely for Dal, you're fab xxx

Dal/Floria and everyone else
The terrier website Floria referred us to has been brill so far. We have had 5 replies asking abiout Stan and we are meeting a chap -'Jeff' and his dog Zodie in a country park in Swindon to see if the two dogs get on with a view to Stan living with them. He has no children and is a country chap who is out most of the time. Can't believe he's in swindon!!! and we can check progress should all go well as he's a full member of the site and publishes lots of pictures
have a look here
This would be fab so hoping STand gets on okay....[fingers crossed emoticon]
Thanks for your help Floria xxx

FloriaTosca · 10/01/2010 09:05

Morning

Inzi;I was thinking of you yesterday. I hope it all went as beautifully as possible.

Muppet; glad to be of some assistance. I hope Stan and Zodie get on like a house on fire and 'Jeff' can give him the perfect new home.

Dal; I hope your fil is comfortable and gets better soon.So frustrating not being able to get there.

Alice; You are a star!...and happy belated anniversary

Operation no boobies through the night is not the greatest sucess so far...lots of weeping (me as well as Alex) and not a lot of sleep being had ...it is horrid laying in the spare room hearing Dh trying to sooth him with my boobs aching to instantly 'fix' the tears. 3 nights in and he is still waking, going into our room and crying for Mummy milk...tonight is the last night Dh is home for 4 nights and I can hide in the spare room so I have a feeling it was all a stressful waste of sleep...

hi to everyone I have missed

Off to wake Dh from his lay in now...Happy Sunday everyone

Oh Inzi [[hugs] so sorry you're having of rough time of ms. Glad yesterday went okay for you, if not drainning try to rest as much as you can xx

We met up with Jeff today and his great little dog Zodie. You can tell he and Zodie are very close but she seemed not mind Stan being around. She did put him in his place but that's to be expected as she's top dog and so' he though that's not really any claim to fame in our house as Dex never made the pile to be even the bottom of it
Jeff loved Stan and said he would love to give him a home!!

We are meeting up again next Sat so Jeff can take Stan for a walk with just him and Zodie to see how they all get on as Stan was, obviously, still looking to us on the walk today. If that goes okay we're thinking of a 2 week trial to see how they all get on with the condition that if it doesn't work out Stan comes back to us.
Not re-homed before does this sound okay?

As you could see on facebook Ollie sledged into a metal bar yesterday and has really hurt his nose. It is still really swollen and there's not much bruising yet. He seems okay and wants to go to school but going to ask if he can stay indoors as if he gets knocked it could be incredibly painful for him.

Henry fell over on the ice too and has a bruise on his right cheek so whilst we're loving the sno we're all suffereing for it! I fell over yesterday walking down to the shops whilst pushing Toby!

Back later prpbably, Floria hope you're okay and tonight isn't to bad for you and Alex x

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 10/01/2010 19:09

Alice - your anniversary sounds lovely. Not sure I could throw tapas together like that!

Dal - love the name Miles, so exciting only having a few weeks to go - bet it feels like a long time for you though.

Muppet - glad you had a successful meeting with Jeff - I've no experience but your approach sounds very sensible to me. Fingers crossed it works out. Hope both the boys recover ok after their falls/knocks in the snow.

FT - so sorry that Alex isn't coming off the milk smoothly. It must be so awful for you fighting your instincts even if you know it's for the best in the long run. Will he still not take milk from a bottle or cup?

Inzi - hugs to you, really hope the ms passes soon and it doesn't get as bad as last time. Glad all went well yesterday.

muppetgirl · 10/01/2010 19:43

hi WWAJC x
Just gone into toby's room as I could hear him crying...

his light was on and there were toys in his cot that he couldn't have got...

meanwhile Henry was lying in his bed with the light on with sunglasses on!!

He is one to watch that one!

alicet · 10/01/2010 22:43

Floria sorry to hear you had a stressful night trying to wean Alex. Fingers crossed it gets better not worse.

Muppet your approach with Stan sounds perfect. Fingers crossed all goes well for you all. Hope boys get better from their tumbles too and pmsl at the story about Toby and henry in bed!!!

Dal keeping my fingers crossed for your fil. After text today won't do anything without your say so but let me know if I can help. Loving the name Miles too!

Inzi sorry to hear about the terrible morning sickness too - hope it all passes soon

Well we woke today to most of the snow having melted! Mixed feelings really - its been a pain in the arse getting out of our estate and the boys haven't really enjoyed the snow at all but dh and I had been going to go out in our ski kit last night and build a snowman for the boys before we decided we were a bit tired and were going to do it tonight instead - the snow has gone from well over a foot in our garden to about 1 inch! Oh well I think on balance the fact that its melting makes life easier!!!

FloriaTosca · 11/01/2010 08:32

Morning Ladies

Inzi; sorry the ms is so bad..keep trying to sip the water. Ginger worked for me but then again I wasn't anywhere near as bad with Alex as you were with Jane.

Muppet rofl at Henry! So glad you seem to have found the right home for Stan...your approach is a good one, it gives you the assurance that if he doesn't settle he won't be passed from hand to hand and gives the new owner assurance that if he has bitten off more tha he can chew he can back out of it...2 weeks is not much for a dog to settle, Thane took a month before he was happy here in our new home and he was with us, his family from a puppy (but Bouviers do have more traits in common with cats than dogs at times)I hope next weeks walk goes brilliantly.

Alex had a better night last night...no hysterics at all...apparently went in to Dh at 12.30 and asked for a drink (despite the fact that he has a bottle of water in the pocket of his bed guard ) and went in to him again at 2.00 but didn't even ask for me...he went in again at 6.00 when Dh was getting up for work and asked for me then ...such an improvement...it is a crying shame Dh is away for the next 4 nights I think we might have got it cracked if he was home. I think I'll try a close fitting t-shirt as bed wear tonight and see if I can keep up the good work.

Good afternoon ladies,

I know recent months have left me with very little time to get on here and keep up with everyone. And i really hate it!!

Between searching for schools for karl a few months ago, looking for a new flat still, trying to break Zacharys sleep habits and keep on top of various other things i have been drained.

Karl is well and truely settled in school now so thats a relief.

The flat hunting is more important than ever after last week the 6ft tall shower door came off the runner and fell on top of Karl, thankfully he only had a tiny cut on his thumb but is still in shock it seems, he is very nervy going into the bathroom. you have to walk past the shower to get the the bath/toilet etc and he is really uneasy about doing so. Although the glass has been cleared now. TBH as frightening as it was I am glad it did not happen 2 minutes later when Karl and Zachary were getting in it iyswim?

Zachary has gone right out of routine, he is not getting to sleep much before 11pm some night even later, I think (hope) its just a phase because we have not been able to go out much lately partly due to the weather and partly due to me not feeling quite right the last couple of weeks. I am very tired and sicky feeling.

His speech has come on so much but some words are very amusing....he calls Karl - Harly, and his appetite has become much bigger he has also become egg mad at meal times.

Congrats to those who are pg, i am very I desperatly want another and we are TTC but it is taking a lot of practice .

Anyway now i have found you all again I will do my best to get on more often, atm i have only got a payg dongle to use to get online as a BT main server cable was pulled up in my area and it has buggered up the phone lines and a lot of shops as well.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 11/01/2010 15:38

Just popped on to share... in the kitchen with Anya getting lunch I asked her to get her plate. No, she wouldn't - too busy sitting watching me. Should mummy get it? "Yes", she said, then sang "What's going to work? Teamwork!" Not sure she's quite got the point of Wonder Pets.

babyblue4 · 11/01/2010 16:58

Havent been on in ages... so busy with the DCs this weeks for some reason??

Inzi - sorry to hear about your grandfather. Hope the service went ok. As for MS, hope it passes quickly. With my last 2 DCs I had horrendous MS for 5 months so I can sympathize. I didnt end up in hospital, but could not eat or drink very much at all. Even water made me nauseous. Hang in there... it will pass.

Well, Sofia is still giving me a hard time with her screaming. DH and I were in the grocery store on Saturday, and she did not want to sit in the shopping buggy (which we ALWAYS put her in, no exceptions), so she started screaming full volume! It was like she was getting a beating - very high pitched and everything! I was mortified! Just wanted to crawl into a hole. The place was not too busy, but the dirty looks I got (especially after I spanked her for trying to hit me), were horrible. Sigh... you would think after 4 DCs I would be used to this... DH and I just plodded on. She cried for about 20 minutes and finally settled down just as we were going through the cash. She does the sme cry at home when she doesn't get her way. It makes my blood boil! Then I feel guilty for having such a strong reaction... ugh!!

Muppet - have you sorted things out with Stan? Its sad when you have to get rid of a family pet. We currently have a cat who has been with us for nearly 13 years. He recently started peeing in our basement in retaliation for various things we did (forgetting to let him out), so he got booted outside. He now lives in our garage. I cant find anyone to take him, due to his age, and we dont want to put him down. We thought he might run away since he has always been an indoor cat, but no such luck. We are stuck! So he wanders around during the day, then comes into the garage at night to eat and sleep.

Floria - how is operation no boobies going?? Any better? Sigh... must be soo hard, but hopefully a restful night is just around the corner for you.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 11/01/2010 19:09

Muppet - lol at Henry - cool dude!

Alice - at your snow having melted. We are still inches thick with no sign of it going anytime soon. Luckily today's snowfall was a pathetic attempt and soon fizzled out. Can't wait until we are able to walk along pavements without falling on our arses.

FT - glad night times are going better with Alex. Hope it works while dh is away.

LES - glad Karl is settled in school. Sorry Zach's sleep is not going well - is he still having a daytime nap?

Babyblue - poor you with Sofia screaming - hope it passes soon, am sure it is just a phase although that's no comfort when you're in the middle of it.

Back at Jo Jingles this morning after Christmas break. Anya's in the older class now and I wasn't sure whether she'd go back to being a bit overwhelmed being with the older children after not having been for a few weeks. No chance! She was singing and dancing straight from the start - she gets so into it it's lovely to watch.

NeedCoffee · 11/01/2010 19:56

WWAJC-PMSL @ Anya, still giggling now about it. Bet Anya?ll be ing the older kids round before long. How are things with DH?

Babyblue-Shannon?s always hated the trolley seat, I have to pack snacks for shopping trips and get round before she finishes them. its such a luxury to go shopping with no children!

FT-aw what a shame that DH has to go back to work when you where starting to make progress. Maybe lots of layers round the boobs will at least help stop him smelling the milk. Hope its sooner rather than later for you.

Muppet-fantastic news about Stan, so hope that things work out with the new home. Poor you lot with the skiddy snow. I?ve not been that affected by it so far, but meant to be going away for the night with my friend on Fri night, and if it snows again I won?t be able to go. Was so looking forward to it too.

Inzi-so sorry to hear of your bad ms, it?s a good thing though in a way! At least your hormone levels are high. (keep telling yourself that!) Glad that Sat went as okay as it could be.

Dal-can?t believe ?Miles? will be here soon. Am so excited for you and can?t wait to see pics. You got a sitter sorted for Dylan when you give birth? What you planning on doing re birth plan? Have you heard from your parents lately? Hope not. Hope the restless legs disappear and you manage to get some rest. Oh and how?s FIL doing?

Alice-Your anniversary sounds lovely-the kind of thing I wish I could do with the man I love, ha, fat chance, not seen him for weeks properly.

Well assignments are more or less finished, which is just as well as I've got loads of Accounts work to catch up on, seriously thinking about deferring after this first year so that I can concentrate on completing my Accounts first-although Rich reckons it'll get easier after these ones

My baby nephew is lovely, although he did look a bit like a monkey earlier when he crumpled his face up-my db was not impressed when I jokingly said, think I will need to tread carefully there for a change.
My boobs have been tingling since I first held him yesterday, think it must have been him routing on me, how weird is that!

Shannon has been playing up lately, WWAJC-yes she did get vomit all over her clothes the other day, nearly every single items in 3 drawers grr, and as some of you may have seen pics of on FB, poured half a tub of talc all over herself and bed last night, spread sudecrem all over herself the other week.... I wouldn't mind, put they haven't been left in easy to reach places! She's obsessed with Dora atm and is very possesive owith her Dora books, managed to create a riot at nursery with them on Fri and was back chatting the nursery teacher and when she didn't get her own way (apparantly) deliberatly wet herself so they had to clean her up, and when they tried to get her to nap in the pram, lied about pooing herself. She has done very cute things too, so its difficult to keep a straight face sometimes. If I tell her I love her, she says I love you too mummy and also tells me you're not ccalled Julie, you're called Mummy.

She is currently trashing her bedroom whiles she's meant to be sleeping

NeedCoffee · 11/01/2010 19:58

Aso meant to say Muppet-also pmsl @ Henry wearing sunglasses with the light on, little cutey

muppetgirl · 11/01/2010 20:36

Yep Henry is my 'law unto himself' child! Ollie would never do such a thing he's so black and white -Mummy said don't go in Toby's room, so I won't. Henry? -Mummy said no so I'll wait 'till she goes downstairs and then go for my life!

Floria -hope the operation no boobs goes well without DH x

WWAJC -LOL at Anya singing, Henry just shouts 'DOP (stop) SINGING!!!!!!' sigh

babyblue -sorry to hear sofia is playing up in the supermarket. Henry was like this so I bought him a play basket which we take and he's allowed to walk and help me shopping. I ask him to go and get a carrot and he does. He LOVES to help. ANd if he messes about I just give him the choice of sitting in the trolley or helping me and allow lots of time and only so a small shop -I know it's a lot tougher with 4 though x

Tles- nice to hear from you

Alice -sorry to hear you're missing the snow, I hate driving in it so I'm hoping it'll go soon here too. The forecast says heavy snow is on its way again so it may be that you have chance to build that snowman yet!

LisaLessLumpy · 11/01/2010 21:50

Oh my ladies, you have all been very chatty, I'm a bit overwhelmed in trying to reply to everything, so please excuse me if I don't, but I have read everything

Inzi - hope the funeral went ok and sorry you are having such bad morning sickness

Hello to everyone. I will try and keep more up to date

Sam said to me tonight 'Mummy, when I grow up, I want to marry you' made up for him this morning, not wanting to go to school, crying and refusing to dress or eat brekkie, so they've been put to bed at 6.30 tonight
