Thought I'd start a new thread as as soon as evie pops we're bound to fill it hugely and some of us have phones to work with!

We need Bump photos Turtle

How was the wedding turtle?

Got my interview date for uni, 24th Sept, if I get in then I start on the 28th nothing like leaving something to the last minute! Please cross your fingers for me ladies!

Went to my nephews Christening today which was nice, if a little chaotic as long train journey to Cambridge yest and back today. Absolutely knackered!

turtle23 · 06/09/2009 22:55

Ewe-You should have said, would have given you a lift!
Wedding (in Cambridge also)was...well the reception was lovely. The service was excruciating. I had to leave as it was just loads of people talking about how important it is for wedding vows to be taken seriously, how much H+G loved each other and what a husband and wife mean to and should do for each other.
Thankfully P was happy to make a squeak so I rushed him outside and didn't come back.
Did I mention that the home birth is off until I can get my iron levels up? Apparently my tiredness is not depression, it is anaemia.

Meant to also say good luck to Ewe!

FfreckleFface · 06/09/2009 23:21

Ooh, good luck Ewe. Have you negotiated reducing hours and stuff with work?

Turtle, that must have been a nightmare. But it's done with now. How are things at home?

Horrible, horrible afternoon. Ff pulled a chest of drawers over on herself - I have never been more terrified in my life. Thankfully, she skipped out of the way, and only one drawer caught her, but my God it could have been horrendous. Not a scratch on her, and the shouting that followed was mostly because I pulled her away from the exciting clothes mountain, but shit...

Tried to calm myself down with a glass of wine and a film. I DO NOT recommend Marley & Me for this purpose. I cried more than I ever have at a film before, even Beaches.

Am off to huddle under my duvet and rock back and forth til Bloke gets home. (Two feckin weeks, still.)

Ewe · 07/09/2009 10:11

Oh turtle, that must have been really hard. Are you on Floradix already for the iron levels? Try steak for every meal, that is what I did when mine were really low after having T, they were going to readmit at a different hospital to the one T was in the SCBU of! I had loads of steak with spinach in butter and chased it up with a glass of OJ. Lots of cereal is good too.

Oh Ff, that sounds horrible, they are a disaster zone at the moment. So fast, no fear, bad combo.

I was supposed to be speaking to my MD today about my flex working request but I appear to have a tummy bug so have spent the past four hours throwing up and am in bed. Nice! Will have to speak to him tomorrow. Have a couple of back up options that I am looking in to just in case they say no though.

Dontpanic · 07/09/2009 20:41

FfFf, so glad Ff is ok, it's horrible all this having to have eyes in the back of your head stuff. E nearly blew us up at the weekend - i'd turned cooker off at wall as he keeps moving the knobs, DH decided to cook pizza and didn't twig grill was on until the smoke alarms went off and we had to defumigate. Don't know what would have happened if it had been the gas!

Turtle, www.homebirth.org.uk/ - you should know that low iron levels isn't a reason to withdraw home birth. If that's what you really want, then bloody well go for it and don't get put off by yet another "fight".

Ewe, best of luck, hope the bug is a quick one to go! Any reason why you shouldn't get the hours you want?

turtle23 · 08/09/2009 06:42

DP- I know I CAN...just dont know how strong I am feeling.

Ff- I feel like a heartless monster now...watched Marley and Me last night and didn't find it even a bit sad...am I broken?

Ewe- Am already on Floradix, that's what worries me. Ah well, steak again. With spinach and orange juice.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HQ!

HolidaysQueen · 08/09/2009 09:18

Oooh thanks turtle

Maybe you're a cat person like me? I don't 'do' dogs so I imagine Marley & Me would leave me a bit cold too!

HolidaysQueen · 08/09/2009 09:24

Another year older, another incompetent typo. Can't even spell my own name now

Dontpanic · 08/09/2009 11:05

turtle, I know what you mean, but how about that giving you something different to focus on since everything else is depressing you - it's the one thing you still have a bit of control over at the moment. x

HQ, happy birthday! I saw the name come up on FB and sat there thinking "who's that on mnet" as I still ahve probs matching up RL names and nicknames Apart from Turtle, there's a clue in the name there

I thought the Marley book was much better as I can't stand Owen wilson, was surprised i cried at the film at all. If it had been a decent actor I'd probably still be in therapy. As for cats, pah

CricketsMum · 08/09/2009 14:02

Happy Birthday HQ!
Good luck Ewe!
FF - poor you - the near misses are so horrid. Only two weeks though - look how much you have managed so far!

Holiday officially over. Was up from 3.30 with teething baby. FFS. She dragged me out of bed 3 times between 3.30 and 5 because she was screaming in pain... First time I gave her a cuddle and she settled; second time she stopped as I got to her door; third time she was fast asleep, but crying in her sleep. Obviously I didn't get back to sleep at any point so feeling a bit dazed, and am back in the office. Ho hum.

At least the weather is glorious today!

oooh, and my friend had a baby yesterday (horrific labour but will move past that quickly). So exciting. Am almost feeling a little bit broody. almost.

FfreckleFface · 08/09/2009 15:02

Happy birthday, HQ! Have you got any celebrations planned?

Good luck with the MD, Ewe. And I hope your tummy bug is better.

I think Marley & Me is all about being a dog person. I obviously AM a dog person, and it was made worse by the fact that we call Boydog Bargain Puppy because he was the last one left and reduced... Plus, I am a complete sap since having the baby, and cry at anything.

No takers for next Wednesday then?

merryberry · 08/09/2009 21:01

happy birthday HQ, hope you enjoyed the weather!

CricketsMum · 09/09/2009 11:40

feel like i have a new born again. had two lots of 1.5 hours sleep last night. the rest of the time was dealing with a screaming monster. Resorted to my secret stash of Night Calpol at 3am and even that took 45 minutes to work. Am suddenly realising the benefits of mat leave - being in the office today is HARD.

Please god let these teeth come through quickly (she's got a molar and a lateral incisor both bottom left trying to come through which I think are the culprits). That said I didn't dare read the references a few months ago to 18 month sleep regression... those that did... this doesn't sound like that does it? (and if it does wtf do i do about it?!)

evie2000 · 09/09/2009 17:51

well hello all - I've popped! A baby girl born on monday morning. I won't bore you with the birth details but last time was a long one and this one wasn't - arrived at hospital fully dilated and then an hour later she appeared! Amazing! So far so good and all doing well.

Sorry not to be catching up on the other news - but did just see Turtle - so sorry or you and do hope you're ok. a silly thing to say really but hope you're getting love and support all round.

turtle23 · 09/09/2009 18:30

So many congrats evie!!! Can't wait for mine!
How exciting!
(and thanks. )

congratulations evie! so happy for you

pantshavenames · 09/09/2009 19:15

Congrats Evie- hope all is well

As one enters another one leaves the nest... DS starts proper school tomorrow (after he has been manhandled into his uniform). Am feeling fine except for a residual worry that he may be scarred for life if the other kids laugh at him because i have inadvertently bought the wrong name tags... or something I don't even know it is possible to get wrong.. (I have form... I accidently tried to buy all P.E kit on the premise that he would prefer T-shirts to polo shirts and only realised when walking past the school that they were all wearing polo shirts... and I forgot to schedule the 'informal chat' with his teacher..)

Dontpanic · 09/09/2009 23:17

well done Evie! Many congratulations

And CM, just sounds like teething...horrible though it is.

turtle23 · 10/09/2009 07:32

Just thought I'd post thisas I am always so bloody miserable on here. P slept over 11 hours last night. Didn't wake up with his hands jammed in his mouth screaming...
AND I (how sad am I) GET A NEW EXPENSIVE WASHIING MACHINE ANY MINUTE NOW!! (Oh dear.)

HolidaysQueen · 10/09/2009 08:01

Wonderful news, Evie

Ewe · 10/09/2009 12:19

Huge congratulations Evie! Does the little one have a name yet? Hope you are both feeling well

What a good sleep from little P - hope you managed to sleep too, I have a new dishwasher coming next week and am equally as excited.

Waiting to hear back from MD either today or tomorrow so keeping my fingers crossed on the flex working request front and uni - lots going on!

My bug is finally shifting, thank goodness, actually looking forward to getting some lunch in a second. T has been poorly however, high temp on Tue and Wed and big rash on her face and torso. She seems to be better today health wise but is still feeling sorry for herself!

Teething doesn't help either - Crickets, you have my biggest sympathies. Meant to ask you actually, do you use a local CM? I'm thinking of potentially using someone as I have some odd hours and days that might need covering if all comes off. If you know of anyone then let me know, would much rather a personal recommendation!

CricketsMum · 10/09/2009 12:25

Ewe - not that local to you (but good for us now)- epsom downs... can ask her if she can recommend anyone more local if that helps? i love her she's amazing.

better night last night - she slept 10.75 hours with only one wake up but settled really quickly again so i was only up for about 10 mins. and we had the loveliest little poppet in the world this morning... not sure where her monstrous alter ego that has been gracing our lives for several weeks now has gone but she wasn't hiding under the cot!

congrats evie!
