how did it get to be 11pm here? I only just put DD to bed, well obv not as that was at 7.30.

oops the thing I found with DD when I have been away and we have had to co-sleep or share a room is that the more she comes in with me the worse she sleeps. In that she gets used to coming into bed with me so she then wakes up more and is harder to settle until I give in. This is why I ended up sleeping on my mums sitting room floor rather than in the spare room where DD's cot was.
So I guess it is a case of either leave it and hope it passes, which it probably will in time or try to help it to pass by using a putting back to bed strategy of some sort.
As you say she cries when she wakes because she went to sleep with you there and wakes up with you gone. Could you try to leave before she fully goes to sleep and then when you go in to shush her leave again before she goes to sleep fully. That way she knows you are around but doesn't rely on you to need to go to sleep.

Disclaimer - I might be talking a load of old twaddle.

are we discussing resting sazzles ample boobs covered or uncovered or am I confused in the change over?

okay i slivered me a piece of my roast and stuck it back in the oven. i like my beef dead. thanks for the resting tips. i needed those. will use them again in a few minutes.

Thanks Steaky - I have tried leaving when she is slightly asleep but she is like lightening in standing up and yelling. tonight I backed out shushing and she is (fingers crossed) still asleep, slightly better than previous nights so it may well be passing.

Off to bed for me too, night girls.

oops my dd1 was a terror at night requiring me to be by her side FOREVER. my words would be leave her to cry if she's obviously not hungry, she's obviously tired, she's and obviously not in need of changing. be nicely firm and say it's time for bed..night night. smile. kiss her once. then leave. i wish someone had told me to do that with dd1. i was such a pushover (not that i'm implying you are) but looking back how she was able to manipulate that situation continued on for a long time. only recently have i learned to be nicely firm. she didn't take it well at first but thankfully she's understanding it now. reese didn't test me as much but she does test. i pull out my nice but firm mommy card and she's like "okay...night". it's like a dream come true.

Here I am whizzing in just as you're all going to bed again.

Miamla very glad DP is being nice! And he's right, it is important for us part-time, out-of-the-door-on-the-dot-of-fivers to join in social stuff when we can (if you want to, of course).

Cyteen sorry your day was hard. DH and I describe as 'stabbity' days when we are driven to distraction by every idiot in town - usually, being in London, because they don't know tube etiquette or are dawdling tourists when we're going Somewhere Important in a hurry We are very polite in person, I hasten to add, but it's very satisfying to hate complete strangers sometimes when your bad mood actually has nothing to do with them.

Buckets I forgive you the sofa comment If you're ever in the area you will have to come and sit on it and I'm sure you will be converted!

Morning ladies

Just marking my place here, hope to be back later but work beckons now. It's raining and gloomy outside so matching my mood perfectly.

Well last night was slightly better than recent nights. She woke at 2 ravenous so I fed her, she woke again at 4 I left her to whinge and she went back to sleep then at 5.30 she was up but fell asleep on me in bed and slept until 6.30. She is still definitely hungry during the night she has a HUGE feed and if Dh offers her a bottle she will take it all.

Hope all are good this morning, it is wet wet wet here so we are off for a wet walk to babycafe this morning.

Croissant for brekker here.

DD slept 12 hours straight. hurrah!
Woke up famished but took a bit of cows milk and a bit of bf then croissant, dried fruit and more moo juice.

Does anyone remember/know how much cows milk DD should have in a day? I have started her with 100 mill in her beaker in the morning and she still gets a bf before naps and bedtime, just wondering if I should limit or aim for a specific amount per day.

I've had a look at kellymom which says 24 oz max a day - I think that is around 400 mill.
But they also say to keep bfing.

that's a pretty bookmark vg cyteen i'm liking your style re having bridesmaids who look similar! it'll make it sooo much easier to find something that suits both of them! i haven't even got as far as deciding who my bridesmaids are!

oops i know this is going to sound really harsh but... as you may well remember i gave birth to Mr Non-Sleeper Extraordinaire! He only starting sleeping for longer than 2 or 3 hours at a time when i stopped feeding him during the night (approx 2 mths ago?). Even now, we still have times when he wakes during the night but mostly we have one or no wakeups. Compare this to the ten we used to have each night and you might perk your ears up to listen! Once he's in his cot after his bedtime routine that's it re milk and cuddles until 5am. For the first few nights after our new plan was started, i'm sure if i'd fed him, he'd have had a big feed but now, i suspect not. I offer him water in his cup if he wakes up, he usually declines but when it was hot he drank loads so had obviously woken due to thirst. He's going through a particularly enjoyable stage at the moment in that only daddy will do during the night (dp only does the nights if i've got work the next morning) but, i'm sure like everything else, this too will pass. congratulations if you're reading this far and i hope some of my dribble helps! sorry if its a bit jumbled, DS was trying to help me type it
oh and what ts said about being a pushover applies to me too. i'd go into him, cuddles, stroking etc etc and he'd take 2 hrs to settle because pogoing is more fun than sleep. dp goes in, with his i mean business face on, ds lies down and goes to sleep without any more fuss!

i am pleased to confirm that pertelote's sofa is indeed comfortable to sit on despite being poo coloured

x post with you there steaky (yes it really did take that long to type my post!) That's great about DD's sleep last night! i have no idea about moo milk but i'm interested to know if you do find out!

Miamla I think you are in fact a little bit of a fierce one and not so much of a pushover after all, given what you have achieved with DS.

I agree with you re-night feeds. Though I went a bit more gently gently. Giving the feed but stopping before DD went to sleep or came off herself, that way she went back in her cot awake. This worked for me in about 3 nights.

Reading around the boards it seems that LOs don't need moojuice as they can get nutrients elsewhere.

DD quite happy with milk or water in her cup, which is very agreeable of her. I think I'll probably work towards offering milk in the morning and evenings and water throughout the day. Seems like a lazy simple solution.

me? i'm not fierce! i'm a gentle little lamb although i wouldn't be if i met the fuckwits upsetting dizz at work. Now they'd see fierce!
yeah, i tried what you did but DS didn't really ever get the message!

hmm, interesting re moo juice. when i asked hv why she was saying he should have it, she didn't give me a straight answer...unsurprisingly!

DS happy with milk in a cup if DP gives it to him. my mum must give him milk in a bottle (turns it down if its in a cup) and i must give him milk from source...those are the rules according to DS! So yes, it is very agreeable of your DD to accept both in a cup!

what projects have you got on the go at the moment? i've got a sleeping baby and i'm itching to do some sewing
