Hi everyone

I have visited the photobucket, what a beautuiful bunch of babies we have!! I have added Ava...

Congratulatios on Iris's sleep Pidge!
Ava is sleeping longer and longer at night these days and less during the day, it is a good swap, but I now dont even get the luxury of brushing my hair, or choosing what to wear!! Its a case of grabbing and putting on whatevers nearest! But I am not complaining
Hope everyones doing okay.

Hooray - Lauren slept through for the first time last night from7:30 to 6:30! She stirred a few times but I just put her covers over her and she went off again. Don't know if it was a fluk, so will go to bed with night time bottle prepared tonight, just in case. Got her medicine for her reflux today - hope it does the trick as the acid really hurts her.

popsycal · 30/05/2005 19:28

can your girls please teach harry how to sleep/
thanks

KerryJ · 30/05/2005 19:31

Er, yes, can you also please send Toby some vibes?! Going a sickly green colour reading all these posts about excellent sleepers as Toby actually seems to be getting worse, if that's possible .

norash · 30/05/2005 19:37

Hey all,

Congrats to all the sleeping babies.

Popsy don't worry so much that is a statement I was making till this week. I hope he sleeps tonight as he has been sleeping since 3pm, it's now 7.30pm and I am getting worried as he has not been sleeping during the day lately but sleeping better at night.

Fingers crossed hey.

Lauren is 3 months on Wednesday. A week ago I was complaining that she seemed to be getting worse as she was waking at the funniest times all of a sudden. The clinic reckons she was having a growth spurt. Maybe that's what is happening to you Kerry J.
I have a very specific routine that I stick to every long nap and every bedtime feed. At night, she goes in the bath at 6ish. Has a ten minute night night cuddle with who ever is around. I then go into her room with the door closed and only very little light. Always feed her in the same position. Once she has feed I walk her cuddled close to me for 5 mins and then put her down. During this time I don't talk to her or make eye contact. Ever since I started this she has gone down like a dream. She knows what it means when we go through for her bath. Lunch time nap (11:30 to 2:30/3:00). Pull the curtains, feed her in the same place as night time and don't talk or look at her. Also seems to have worked well. She's mainly awake when I put her down and she may cry a little, but it's more a little letting off steam cry. I don't go in to her unless I can hear she's really getting upset. Within 5 minutes she's asleep. Don't know if these ideas will help anyone, but they worked for me.

norash · 30/05/2005 19:43

KerryJ, sorry to here your having a rough time, hope things improve for you.

Tamula Ava is soooooo cute and I agree with you or the babies are adorable aren't they!

norash · 30/05/2005 19:49

Hey Jambot I started the no talking no eye contact thing with Kieran and it seems to have helped.

He is going to be 8 weeks old on Sunday and he seems to be settling easier, I also changed his formula from SMA to Aptamil and he seems to be a new baby

No more screams when he poos and is generaly more calm.

ZoeC · 30/05/2005 19:50

Jambot, I agree about a good sleep routine helping - we're doing bath, feed in her room (darkened) then in the cot while I sit just out of sight at the door shushing a bit until she settles. She really seems to get the idea and goes for a good long sleep (well, until 1am or 2am anyway).

jambot · 30/05/2005 20:12

Lauren screams the place down while I'm putting on her sleepsuit etc. Couldn't figure out why she was freaking out so. Stops as soon as I sit in the feeding chair and take the top off the bottle. Thinks it's because she knows her bottle is coming and isn't prepared to be fiddled with any longer! Bottle now mummy!!
My child only understands instant gratification when it comes to her tummy!

jambot · 30/05/2005 20:17

Should add that I haven't quite mastered the morning and afternoon naps yet! She might nap for half and hour in her pram in the morning(9ish) and even shorter at about 4:30/5. Literally passes out for 15 minutes and then that's it. Just lasts her until her bath time. Couldn't put her to bed any later than 7 as she would be miserably overtired. Started off putting her to bed at 7:30 but it just wasn't worth the miseries involved, and that earlier bed time doesn't seem to effect her waking time.

norash · 30/05/2005 20:21

Kieran does not nap much during the day either, but today had a good sleep from 3-8 had to wake him up for fear of a sleepless night.

Leogaela · 30/05/2005 21:29

I usually bath Niklas in the morning. he gets so excited when he is in the bath and then when he gets out and I am drying and dressing him he usually screams (i'm not sure why, but i'm sure its not cold), i'm not sure if this is the relaxing bed preparation its meant to be!

Niklas's daytime naps really vary, maybe I should make him stay awake more and then he would go to bed earlier.... but I have decided its best to let him do what he feels like doing!

This evening we went to meet to the people that are setting up the day care center in the village we are moving to. They seemed very nice and we are happy to take Niklas there. They told us they had a real struggle to get permission to open the day care center because the local council (this is really what they told them) did not want to encourage mothers to go back to work, they should stay at home and look after the children!!!! And when they said that single mothers may not have such a choice they were told that women should take more care of their marriages
Switzerland can be SO conservative it is UNBELIEVABLE!

Well both my boys are in bed (dh has a bad cold aaaah!) Just off to check Niklas is sleeping, then to bed myself!

Sending good sleep vibes out to all the non-sleeping babies!

Leogaela · 30/05/2005 21:30

Norash, sleeping from 3-8 during the day does sound like a long time!!!

norash · 30/05/2005 21:58

He is screeming his head off now coz he is still sleepy but for some reason will not go to sleep.

norash · 30/05/2005 21:58

That will teach me for letting him sleep so long during the day.

norash · 30/05/2005 22:04

Now fast asleep. Lets hope he sleeps for long (fingers crossed)

Hi Everyone,

Norash how long did Kieran go down for? I hope he had a good sleep He's such a sweetie.

Ava slept from 7ish til 5:45 this morning!! Yay!!! Let the good times roll! but she wont go back down, hence I'm up so early!

Jambot well done you, you seem to have it all sorted, what you may find is that with the night sleeps sorted the day naps may just fall in place by themself.

I hope all of our babes are well and good

Love Tam & Ava Xx

norash · 31/05/2005 09:10

Kieran woke up at 8pm and went down again at 10pm. He then woke up at 3 for 10minute feed and was out again he woke up at 7.30am and is now asleep again.

Growth spate or just lazy?

Leogaela at the local council.

tamula · 31/05/2005 09:16

wow!
norash that's amazing, if ava slept 3-8 there would not be a chance that she'd sleep 10-7:30!!! thats fantastic - said through gritted teeth -

ZoeC · 31/05/2005 09:26

Glad everyone is starting to get more sleep

Best night yet here last night - slept 7pm-3.15am, 10 min feed then down without a fuss till 6.30. Fed in bed with me then I got up at 8.15 with dd1 and left dd2 asleep for another 40 mins .

Starting to think I may be able to leave her and go to the cinema after all!

jambot · 31/05/2005 11:26

My 2nd night without a feed last night. Lauren was awake quite a while in the night, but she just lay there and eventually went back to sleep. I knew she was awake because all I could hear was suck, suck, suck on her little hand. Sometimes the thumb goes in but it's normally nearly the whole hand. She doesn't have a dummy so this seems to keep her happy. Woke at 5:30 but I managed to get her to go through till 6:30 before she really started to protest. Started her on the anti-reflux medicine last night and she seemed to have a more resfull sleep - less grunting and groaning. Finally found my download cable for the camera so will post some pics of Lauren later today.
Any of you been to South Africa at all? Leogoela and I seem to be the only 2 mummies that don't live in the U.K.

popsycal · 31/05/2005 14:04

harry is sleeping in bed with me pretty much most ogf the time. really dont like it though.
BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he fed at 8pm, then 1:30 then 5:30 when ds1 decided it was morning time

going to force myself to get him in the cot though

3mummy · 31/05/2005 14:39

Think we should update babies ages, I'm sure this will have an impact on how they are sleeping. I'm so upset that I can't get Faith to sleep in her cot in the evening, as she has a feed at 10:30pm ish then usually sleeps til 5:30 ish. If I could put her to bed at the same time as the older two (7ish) then I have a chance at an evening to realx!

Faith 11wks tomorrow.

popsycal · 31/05/2005 14:40
